Moving from Dallas to California, we needed a storage unit and chose Public Storage near our home. The starting rate was $99.00 per month, which seemed reasonable at the time. However, over the course of a year and a half, the monthly cost increased to more than $220.00. We called multiple times asking if the rate could be reduced. Each time, we were told that they had already lowered it twice and there was nothing more they could do. I also tried contacting the corporate office, but the representative I spoke with appeared to be working remotely and communication was difficult. According to the representative, notices about the rate increases were mailed to us. Unfortunately, we had moved and forgot to update our mailing address, so we never received those letters. Why not email us or send a text!!! That said, we didn't need a letter to notice the increases--we saw the higher charges every month on our Chase bank statement. Because of these constant price increases, we have decided to move to another storage facility. Unfortunately, the cost of relocating our belongings will now exceed $1,000, making the situation even more frustrating. Based on our experience, I would strongly caution others to carefully review the terms and potential rate increases before choosing Public Storage. read more

All of my items were stolen--- Hi, I have never left a review on Yelp but thought I would do this to try to help the next person. I moved from out of state and placed ALL of my belongings in this storage unit until I moved into my apartment next month. My storage unit was broken into by someone electric-sawing the lock off. All of my belongings were stolen - mattress, couch, clothes/accessories/shoes & etc. I do not know if someone saw me or how they targeted my unit. The unit next to me was apparently broken into as well. I would suggest for this Public Storage to get working cameras that they keep on 24/7 in order to prevent this in the future, as they said this is a common thing in Dallas since the pandemic. If you must store your things here, I would suggest getting an interior unit (so the robbers would have to go through the key-pad door & your unit's lock) or just not keep any valuables in your unit. I hate to be negative, but because this is not the first time this has happened at this Public Storage, I wish I would have known in advance so I would not have left any valuables/sentimental items in the unit. read more

She went above and beyond to show that she really cared about My situation - - - a brief summary let's just say that the storage unit that I already paid monthly for with a different company was not open on a Sunday morning and I was unable to move in my whole apartment from an emergency flooding, which had to happen that day. I came by here to this location and Deborah efficiently toured everything the facility had to offer, explained to me all of the amazing promotions all of that and got me inside a new climate conditioned unit with things moving faster than I could even imagine! 100% the fastest I've ever seen timewise! ROACHES!!!!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! ***DO NOT KEEP YOUR STUFF HERE**** Let me preface this by starting off stating that I RARELY post negative comments as I recognize that this is someone business and is their livelihood - but this is so ridiculous and frustrating I had to share... This is the second time using this location. My first experience was great - and as such I decided to return as I temporarily housed my possessions here. Let me preface this - I HAVE NEVER HAD ROACHES!!!!! After only TWO WEEKS in this unit - I came to my unit to grab some hangers and clothes and I noticed pest droppings on the tops of my boxes and furniture. I told the lady at the front desk that this was HIGHLY problematic and took her to the unit and she confirmed the multiple droppings all over my stuff. She apologized and said she would email Ronnie the District Manger and have him call. Two weeks go by...*CRICKETS* Meanwhile I do research - just as expected ROACHES. I go back and ask what the hell is going on!?! I check my unit. Even more droppings!!! So she hands me his business card. I leave TWO VMs. *CRICKETS* Finally I email him and this is the response I get: Ms. Barnett, First, I am sorry that somehow a "roach dropping" was on any of your items. We can never be sure if our how a roach got into you outside storage space, but it is an outside storage, similar to a garage. If there was a roach, it could have come from anywhere and there are restaurants nearby, other people storing next to you or even brought during the move in, weather, etc. From what I understand, you never saw an insect, only what appeared to be a "roach dropping." We do our best to explain to customer not to store food items and to protect their goods because you do store at your own risk. You are certainly within your rights to file an Insurance Claim. I have a $5000 couch in that unit AND purchased the most expensive insurance. Not to mention a pay $200 a month for THIS!?! PISS POOR customer service. The last thing I want is to have to take these pests with me ANYWHERE. I even had my boyfriend inspect and he was like - "Yep there's no doubt they are probably crawling all in your boxes." My only options are to have everything repacked individually, treated, washed, and moved to a more accommodating facility. What a waste of my hard earned money. After researching storage units around my area, I called to inquire about Public Storage. The number I called was for the corporate office, and I spoke with a really nice customer service representative. She helped me find the perfect unit for me (size, location, cost, etc.) and made my reservation for me. On the day that I was moving things into my storage unit, I showed up to Public Storage at the time of my appointment, was shown the property and my unit, filled out paperwork, and immediately moved in.
