Great place and helpful people! We had a small 5x7 unit here for four months and the move in and move out process was very easy and the staff was very accommodating with parking cars and having a pod delivered. The facility itself is clean and always has working elevators and plenty of carts to use. Plus, even in Dallas summers the building stayed nice and cool. read more

I have been going through financial hardship and got behind. Managed to get all the money together and paid. Only for them to tell me they were cutting their lock off and my unit would just be sitting unlocked until I could put a lock on it. Ma'am I'm currently in another city with a sick relative but let me bug my friends. Terrible business. People work to get caught up only for their stuff to be left for the taking. Then said if they have to lock it there was some charge and the keys had to be mailed. Again ma'am I'm in another city but let me bug my friends so my belongings I just paid for aren't stolen. I won't rent here again. Sending a friend to put a lock on my unit means giving someone not authorized to be in the gate code so Extra Space you might want to rethink that policy. read more

This is my second review for Extra Space Storage on Alta Mere Dr. in Forth Worth TX. I had an issue with my payment amount and called in to see what if anything could be done to assist me with it. I spoke to Megan and I cannot say enough how she handled my situation with ease and kindness. Megan went above and beyond, what my expectations were. This facility is very clean and secure. When I moved out, my belongings in my indoor storage space were covered with rat feces and urine. I didn't come prepared to clean up a bunch of rat poop, so I had to dump some of it in the hall. About a week later it was all still there, even though I saw employees walking the halls, one of them with a broom and dustpan. Also trash in the elevator and hallways that somebody had left was still there about a week later. Only one of the gates was working, but there was little or no signage about it, causing people to drive to the other gate where it is difficult to turn around. Some of the facility doors didn't consistently unlock anymore, and some didn't close consistently. When I originally started renting there before it changed hands the facility was well maintained, but it's gone downhill with the new owners. There used to be a good amount of parking near the back door, but now there is literally only one parking space because all the others have been turned into more rental storage. During the time I rented there, rent in Dallas probably doubled, but rent at the storage space more than tripled. read more

Absolute scam. They give you a price to get you in, and unceremoniously raise it by as much as 50-60% (!!) without notifying you. I've paid $151/month for my unit since May. Only 3 months! My bill for august is now $231. An $80 increase, so more than 50%. Called to ask about this and was told that they sent a "certified letter" to me about the rate change and confirmed my address. I said I didn't receive a letter, so I was told it must've been left with someone in my apartment building. I don't live in an apartment. My unit # is 26 for my address, but it's a townhouse open to the street with my own mailbox and not an apartment building. Nice try. Certified mail cannot be left without a signature - so I'm really curious who signed for this "certified letter" about my rate change. I was told that they adjust pricing based on market values. Interestingly though, on their website, I can still rent a unit of the same exact size for $151. Weird how the prices aren't updated to reflect these ever changing market values in the storage unit industry! It is a ploy to get you in, set up on autopay, and hope you don't notice the sleazy money grab techniques. I'll be moving out of my unit before it renews for next month. This isn't how you run a business or treat customers. read more

DO NOT STORE YOUR STUFF HERE especially if you want it stolen. Our unit along with 13 others, YES 13 got broken into!!! We have insurance but the process is EXTREMELY slow and they treat you like the criminal instead of the actual criminals who likely got away with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stuff. Also, they prices may seem reasonable at first but after a couple of months they"ll raise the rate by ALMOST DOUBLE!!!! What's the extra cost for? Clearly NOT security. read more

RATS! DO NOT RENT! This pretty much sums up about this extra space location. They manager and employees admits they are aware of this and claims to have pest control. But apparently it's not their policy to inform the tenants to come and check their belongings . The manager and employees can't access the units and tenants being uninformed will have no idea what's going on in there. Just take a look at the pics with rat feces all over my stuffs, rat urine on the mattress and decide for yourself. To be fair- the only great thing about this specific storage on this location is the customer service name Emily. Otherwise, it was poorly handled from supervisor to owner. I had movers scheduled and confirmed, extra storage closed their facility (due to the storm which is understandable but no one reached out to inform me that the facility is closed). I had to pay $250 minimum fee for movers even if we couldn't grab 1 thing from my storage that day. Not only the facility wasn't available that day, they said it may not be for 12 more days or more. The worst part is how the owner, Robert lied about he would work with me on reimbursing the fee that I paid for the movers due to this mishap, I submitted my receipt and tried to follow up many times with him and I had 0 response. As a business owner to another, this is the most disgusting part of it all Bc it lacks everything a business owner needs to be - integrity, customer service, honesty and just overall a waste of time and energy. read more

I was given what seemed like a really good deal to move in. The move in rate continued for a few months and then In the course of 11 months the rates went from 116, to 196, to 276. Needless to say I am moving out. Just a crappy way to conduct business in my opinion. read more

The facility was properly maintained. However, their business practices are bad. They regularly raised my rates, around 20% at a time. I was late once during COVID, and they charged me a 20% late fee, and expressed no empathy. I asked them why did they raise the rates to the level they did, and the reply I got was, that they were the going rates and the can. There was no customer loyalty whatsoever. read more

beware. friendly when renting, but that was it. a really nice young lady was helping me strategize about how to get my monthly price down (I rented in Aug, the most expensive month: $600+ for 2 medium units). Their new customer price for those same units was almost 30% lower. The associate walked me through, to lower your price you have to change SIZES, so we discussed how to get it down $175. But, I opted to just leave it be until spring; seemed easier. Now, they decided to RAISE my price by 25% on average (one raised 32%!), which they are renting new ones 77.6% lower! what kind of business practice is that!! I left town after being in my units to purge things daily for over a month, and suddenly got charged a 25% increase! 77.6% above what a new customer would pay for the same 2 units! Such a poor business practice to gouge current customers on slow months. HQ says location has proof of receipt of a letter (that supposedly was sent before I was talking to the lady at the location -with no mention of an increase) - no such letter was ever received, and I can prove it (daily digest usps service is a great service that emails you photos of mail being received in your mailbox - NOTHING from Extra Space). So, now, I have to get back to town, get my stuff, as it's no longer worth it to me to leave it there, and I would never support such business practices and will go elsewhere where they won't take advantage of customers as your stuff is there. So, to get an extra $158 from me, they're losing $2450+ for 4 more months storage, during a time where they typically have units sitting empty. Note too that most of the time, you don't even need your code... the building doors are left unlocked. they also recently had a system change and no codes were needed for the building doors to open, and one day I visited recently, no codes worked, so if you didn't go during the daytime when you had to go in the office to get a temporary code, you couldn't even get in the gate after hours without the daytime temporary code. If you're looking to move out with a POD, (Like UPack who must leave the pod overnight, for you to pack), the facility doesn't allow them overnight, so you can't use a pod company to move out. there are other storage places (I learned too late) that do allow this. Moving company prices have recently gone up, so before you decide on this location, I'd recommend you ensure you'll not want a pod for your move out. read more

I kid you not, I came after 6pm (closing time) to get my storage unit's keys because I thought they closed at 7pm for some reason, and this wonderful angel of a human left her home to come to the facility and give me my unit's keys. There was no hesitation whatsoever. Some of the most efficient and genuine customer service I've ever experienced, and I didn't deserve it at all! I came late and she didn't hold that against me at all. She has the sweetest attitude and I could not be more grateful for her. The facility is clean, has AC, and even plays music inside. This place is great! I'm honestly surprised there aren't any reviews yet. I have been renting a space here for the two years I was traveling around the country, and felt 100% comfortable leaving my most treasured items in this safe storage facility. The guys who run the place are very personable, and you'd think you've known them for your entire life. They know who I am, and know who the people are who shouldn't be there. They approach me each and every time I come in, make sure I'm not in harm's way, and carry on. I appreciate that extra eye on the entire facility. The units are always clean, the buildings are always tidy, and they keep it at a decent temp inside the climate controlled rooms. I just have nothing but positive things to say about this place! Sad I have to close my account since I'm finally in a place I'm settling down, but all good things must come to an end :) read more

Had my daughter's things in storage here since Jan, 2020. No issues, even during their freeze/flood earlier this year - until move-out. Contacted them via phone (as we are not local to Dallas) on June 21 to give move-out notice. Charged full month on July 1(automatically charged to credit card). Moved out on July 14th as notice specified. Called to confirm they would be crediting the remainder of the month as we had been charged for the whole month of July. That's where the games begin. They insist they have no record of the move-out notice. My daughter noted the date she called on her calendar. Then they said you have to ASK if you want the move-out month to be prorated. I thought that was the purpose of giving notice -- and the contract does NOT say that. It specifically says that if notice is given prior to the billing date (which it was) that the Operator (aka Extra Space) is to pro-rate the rent for the move-out month. Then my daughter was told that in order for rent to be pro-rated, you had to give notice and pay the pro-rated amount in person -- what?? Again, nothing like that in the contract. I called and spoke to Terrell, who is supposedly a manager, last Saturday who said he understood what I was saying but there was nothing he could do. Said he couldn't issue a credit for the full amount and then charge the pro-rated amount. I told him that was unacceptable and that of course that could be done and to please contact whoever in their company could manage those transactions. He assured me he would call "corporate" and insisted they were open on Saturdays after I questioned him about that. Promised he would call back. It's now Thursday and guess what -- no phone call. BEWARE of every detail when moving out and giving notice. Ask for an Email so that you have it in writing (even though my daughter had notes about the phone call we had no way to actually make them enter the information in their system) and be sure to ask them to pro-rate the last month's rent. Ask them to CONFIRM IN WRITING I think most people would assume that would be automatic (as it states in the contract) but it's not. The whole thing felt very scam-like at the end which is too bad because otherwise our experience had been good. read more

Horrible experience! Somehow we had flooding in our unit (likely from the unit next door). The lady in the office was not very helpful about our issue even though we had damage to valuable comic books and family photos. I understand we don't have insurance through the storage place, but they still could have given us a month free or something since the flooding is completely their fault. She changed our unit but acted like she was doing us a favor by waiving the transfer fees (when it was their fault!). Definitely will not use Extra Space Storage again once our things are out!! read more

Unreliable quality and very poor customer service. The entry doors, elevators and restrooms are often "out of service". Security gates are left open and the climate-control is often either not turned on or also, "out of service due to maintenance" (meaning it's hot an humid inside). So much for getting what you pay for. Office staff are defensive and rude and the on-site manager doesn't return phone calls. The facility was MUCH better run by it's former owner (Extra Space Storage acquired the site about 6 months ago). Never had an issue under previous management. Not impressed with the new management. Oh, and they've raised monthly rent TWICE in the 6 months. read more
