This storage unit is terrible. Mold ruined my family's belongings after being in Public Storage's expensive indoor climate controlled space and the customer service is extremely lacking. This place is practically robbing my elderly, disabled mother's fixed income monthly. Stay far away from this place. Additionally, I was trying to access my elderly, disabled mother's unit after her locks had been cut. I am listed on her account as an authorized user. I called ahead before traveling 3 hours from Austin to make sure I would have access to the units because I was only going to deal with her units and she no longer lives in Dallas. It took 2 days to get a call back, and I only got a call back after utilizing their chat function. I was told by a manager I'd be able to access the units and replace the locks so I drove from Austin to Dallas. When I arrived on site, the staff told me due to policy, the account holder must be onsite. I asked them to check the notes on the account and explained that the manager told me I would have access to the units. They told me that I would need to reach out to the regional or district manager who would have the authority to "over ride" policy. I could call but it would take up to 48 hours to get a response. Again, I had already been trying to call for 48 hours. I was furious, but followed their instruction and went to lunch to cool off. I was gone for maybe 45 minutes and when I returned, the office was closed. At 2:30 pm on a weekday where they advertise that their hours are until 6pm. After many calls to the corporate office, it was escalated to a manager from a different store who had to come to this store and let me into my mom's units, and help the other customers waiting for the office to open. For units that cost $300+, this sort of customer service and support is unacceptable. At the very least, the office should be staffed to help customers. Is it too much to expect that the employees working (WHEN they actually show up to the office) should be the ones making the phone calls to managers to figure out if there are extenuating circumstances or approval? When I left to drive back to Austin, the office was still closed at 5pm and the restrooms onsite were locked. The only star is for Elizabeth, who deserves 5 stars and a better work environment other than Public Storage. She dropped everything to help me and I appreciated her help so much. read more

This company will give you a great rate at first! But then they will hike your rent (without notice) at 5 & 11 months after renting. The rent increase will be at minimum $50-100 higher than your initial rate. Customer service has confirmed the rent hike is company policy and cannot work with us on this price. Meanwhile they have the same unit advertised at $100 cheaper than the current unit we have. Continuously lied to about why then rent went up, and were completely unprofessional. If you value transparency and honesty in a company DO NOT GO WITH PUBLIC STORAGE! They have good deal to lure you I. And then once you're comfortable the raise the rent, because they know people don't like moving. Absolutely ridiculous and money hungry. read more

He was friendly, honest and above all he was able to help us upsize to a larger unit painlessly, when I guessed the size wrong at first. If I could leave 50 stars I would! When in need of public storage facilites this is your place ... I had the privledge of working with two exceptional individuals both at seperate locations. A company is only as good as the people in which they employee. Allow me to say, "Wow, how lovely! A personal thank you to Melissa + Christy. Melissa @ the Lemmon Ave location undoubtedly was the most helpful, patient customer service rep (pardon, I am unsure of titles) that not only did she take my multiple calls BUT helped guide me to ensure that I choose the right storage unit size + the best location for my needs. Her sincere wish to aid others (myself) took the cake, just so LOVELY. Christy @ the Winsted Drive location carted me willingly through the facilities to review the various unit sizes (and in this Dallas heat too... Thank Heavens for Public Storages climate controlled units, which i opted for - all smiles), she personally showed me how to navigate the complex (where to park, how to properly access the unit) effortlessly orchestrated account setup, hauled boxes + did so superbly. Christy is such a joy (and a fabulous conversationalist!) Yes, okay this is their jobs responsibilities. Again, when your followers are setting the bar what a lovely example indeed. Unsatisfactory experience. Decided to go elsewhere. I made a reservation via their website, selected my unit size/rate, and the day of my arrival. They called me every single day, morning and night until I arrived, no matter how many times I confirmed the day and time. When I arrived, after waiting for extended period of time as they helped other people without appointments, even a person who had walked in after me, they didn't have a unit available in the size I had reserved, and they tried to charge me more, in addition to extra fees and mandatory insurance that wasn't specified, which added another 50%. read more

First off let me start off by saying the young lady who helped me was great, excellent customer service, nice, fast, and patient. So this review isn't for her I would have given her 5 stars. I only gave one star because the manager Jacob informed the young lady not to honor the yelp app "$1 for the first month" after I checked in. He informed her that they no longer honor those however it's listed for this specific property if you check in. If it's listed and not expired you have to honor it point blank. I have had a unit here for almost two years. During this time, the elevator has broken down several times. It usually takes four to six weeks before they get it fixed. This time it's been down almost two months. I asked the office staff several times when it'll be fixed. Their response is something like, this isn't my facility. If you have the keys to the office, I consider it your facility and you should know the status of the repairs or be able to look it up on the computer. I vacated my unit and spoke to a staff member. I checked online, and it my contract wasn't cancelled. It looks like all they did was cancel my auto pay . Oh, I forgot. It's not your facility. read more

Over the past five years the place has gone to the dogs and is completely unsafe. We will be going elsewhere. Careless and lazy ownership & management have overtaken the efforts of great front office staff. At this point whole place is a safety nightmare and it's getting worse every week. Elevators never work and people get stranded all the time. Owner isn't interested in fixing the problem. As of this writing combination locks on Bldg doors had not worked for about a year. Owners recent solution was to change the combo which would have been okay only they didn't bother to notify paying tenants. Fortunately we were able to flag down the kind onsite housekeeper who told us the new door combo. This is no way to run a business - the owner & manager should be ashamed of themselves. read more

The on site employee was wonderful to work with. She is kind, professional and very helpful. I signed up for the $25 month online special at the very end of 2018. After four auto debits, my rate has gone up 60%. After finally tracking down a human at their corporate office, he let me know that it's a month to month agreement (of which I already knew because I read the contract) and they can raise it however and whenever they want (of which was also in their contract but I was a bit naive to believe that the rate given would withstand more than a few months). He also shared that I'm not obligated to stay there... hahaha! Okayyyyy, gotcha. So they draw you in with a great internet rate, only to raise the price and let you know you can pack up and move out if you don't like the increase. He also assured me that it's not bait and switch because it's month to month. Again, okayyyy. so I'm currently cleaning out closets at home so I can move my off season decorations, camping gear and books home. read more

What a sucker punch I just received. My rent for my 10X20 went up to $175 from $137.50. That's a 28% increase all at one time! What are you going to do. I paid it. I was told it was due to "normal maintenance costs, utilities, taxes, etc. None of the rents of my other Public Storage units elsewhere increased. What a bunch of bull. They think they have you because they know most people will willingly say OK and not have to move their things back out so quickly. Maybe so, but this guy has choices and I'm moving. read more
