I have had my storage unit for 10 months and had 2 price increases. I started at $191 a month and they are bumping my rate to $334 next month. That is a ridiculous amount to increase in 10 months. if it wasn't for the crazy rate increases I would rate them a 5. read more

This is the worst storage experience you will have. The facility is very old and the wall kept shedding wood chips onto whatever you're storing. I reached out to the management and they said "it's an old facility, we can't do anything about it". Within a month or so, the management increased the rent. I signed up for $89 rent online and ended up paying $152 - only 3 months after moving in. Had to empty and get out after all that hassle. I don't understand where the good ratings came from. We are in the process of a full-gut remodel of a very small retail space in downtown Walnut Creek. Being that we are in 'construction mode', we needed a space to stage items that we have ordered to have on-hand when our contractor needs them. We considered a POD (or something like it), but unfortunately don't have the physical space on-site to accommodate it. Went to The Walnut Creek location of Public Storage, and they didn't have any units that were drive-up (exterior units) available. The staff there asked if we would like to be placed on their waiting list. Before I could even answer, Dominique had jumped on the Public Storage website, and let us know that a 10' x 15' drive-up was currently available at their location on Concord Avenue. Better yet...closer to Home Depot! Booked online and got everything set-up within moments. Super easy! Arrived yesterday to install my cylinder lock and return the Public Storage-issued one, as I already have my own. Upon entering the office, I was warmly greeted by Tammi, who I believe is the property manager for that location...she mentioned that she has been there at that location for eleven years. She answered my questions about access for additional people (3 contractors + business owner + investor), in addition to myself, and walked me through the Public Storage app on my iPhone - explaining how access to the facility works. Then she went ABOVE AND BEYOND...she locked the office, and walked me to my storage unit to ensure that everything was as expected. The unit was not just broom-clean, it was impeccable! (And, trust me, that comes from the King of OCD!!) The entire facility is spotless and well-maintained, and Tammi is a HUGE asset to this company...no wonder she's been there as long as she has. Super friendly, efficient, organized, and knows her products and services. She made everything really easy and turnkey. Tammi is a very kind person, and it is clearly evident that she takes great pride in her job with Public Storage!!! Overall, an AMAZING experience. Highly recommend!!!! read more

Update to my earlier review. The public storage on Concord Ave. in Concord, California continues to be a great place to store our items. In the past two years we have been helped in a number of ways by the manager, Tammi. One of the ways is that we broke a key off in a lock on one of our units. Tammi was very helpful in getting the lock off successfully. Another way that she was really helpful is in letting us know when a bigger unit became open so that we could easily consolidate our items. When we have questions, she is quick to answer them and when she needs to call back does so promptly and when promised. She is a pleasure to deal with and great asset to the company. read more

*WARNING* If you care about your stuff, don't keep it here. My mother in-law's storage got ripped off twice in this last week. The people that run the place are nice, but are not being pro-active about stopping theft. Reading about this on-line, it seems that this has been going on for years. They have cameras covering the front, but not on your stuff. They are fixing the fence, but not cutting back the bushes that these people are hiding in. They are not putting up lights to help stop the theft, they are not getting a security guard, nothing. . Once, o.k. I understand. Things happen, but twice in one week shows that they only care about collecting your rent check, and leaving it up to you to protect your stuff. read more

We set up an appointment to come in take a look at the available unit. It was suggested to look at it before i make a decision on the actual space needed. I got what i reserved, and her knowledge and customer service was on point! Answered all my questions, even suggested things i may need. It was a fast and easy process. Signed the papers and i was well on my way. Tammy is always available and makes my visit to my storage smooth. Sweet woman with a smile at all times. Satisfied customer right here.. Unfortunately During The Covid-19 Pandemic I Was Forced Out Of The Place I Had Been Staying For The Past 3.5 Years & Only Had Less Than 3 Days To Get Over 3.5 Years Of Belongings Out Of The Place. First Thought Was To Look On Google Search Engine To Locate A Close Storage Facility To Rent And Possibly Have My Belongings Out By The Allotted Time. Upon Searching Obviously Public Storage Was The First Facility To Come Up With Numerous Deals And E Rental Which Is Great Until You Are Required To Obtain A Type Of Rental Insurance In Order To Use The E-Rental Service, Which I Not Mentioned Until You Are About To Enter Payment Information And Try To Complete The Rental. Also Public Storage Was Fast To Make Sure They Pushed How They Are Staying Open For Current Customers & Potential New Customers All While Keeping Everyone Safe, But Upon My Search There Was Absolutely No Mention Of Gate Hours Being Cut By 4 hours And Still Even On Public Storage Website & The Individual Website For My Specific Public Story Facility It Still Was Stated Gate Hours Were Until 9pm. So Obviously With My Unfortunate Situation, I Went Ahead And Reserved A Unit, Which For A 5 By 10 Unit Was Over $165 A Month & No Deal For The $1 The First Month On This Size, Only A 50% Off Regular Monthly Price For Sign Up & First Month. So That Is Ridiculous, But Like I Mentioned I Really Had No Other Choice At This Point. Also My Specific Unit Location In Concord, Ca On Concord Ave Has Very Rude Employees, One Literally Came Out While I Was At The Keypad Trying To Get In And Stated " Um We Are Closed, Actually You Have Less Than Two Minutes, Ya Because I Have A Child And I Need To Go So Ya". Wow, Really, For One I Was Not Made Aware Of Gate Hour Changes Before Purchasing Unit, During Purchase Of Unit, And Only Until After I Spent Close To $125 With A Supposed 50% Discount Off The Actual Regular Price Was I Even Just Finding Out Of Course On My Own That The Gate Hours Were 4 Hours Difference And 5 Hours Difference On The Weekends. Of Course Now A Couple Of Days Later The Actual Public Storage Website Has Updated Only For My Unit Specific Location But Still On The Main Public Storage Website It Still Says 9pm At Some Locations, Which Its Actually No Location In My Entire Area That The Gate Hours Are Open Until 9pm. Second, The Until Locking Mechanism Is Pretty Much Not Lined Up Properly As I Have Every Single Time While Trying To Lock Up Have Smashed My Fingers To The Point My Entire Left And Right Hand Fingers Are Completely Black And Blue Due To How Un Functional The Locking Mechanism Is, Also Coincidentally Had Random Inspection On The First Day Moving In And Since I Was Unable To Locate Anyone At The Office Because I Was Told To Come Back Due To Someone Else Being In The Office Which Come To Find Out Was Not Even A Customer But A Family Member To The Office Worker And Was Told To Come Back When All I Needed Was The Extra Lock She Placed Due To Me Not Being Able To Properly Lock It Cause Its Not Aligned Correctly And I am Already Very Injured From The Continued Smashing Of My Fingers On Both Hands, But Was Unable To Mention This Because Of The Guest In The Office Which Is Limited To One Customer At A Time Not Family Members And Already Had Wasted 15 Minutes Waiting And Had To Unfortunately Leave, And Same Situation Next Day Until She Was Then Done With Her Personal Visit And Only Then Came Out And Asked Me My Unit Number And Told Me She Would Remove The Extra Lock And Then Show Me How To Properly Lock It So This Doesn't Happen Again. I am So Beyond Frustrated, Disappointed, Practically Homeless, Have Literally No Time To Move In As My Actual Move In Date Was Three Days Ago And I Still Have Barely Any Of My Belongings In And Have Less Than A Full Day Now To Completely Move The Rest Of My Belongings. On Top Of All This Mess, I am Currently Going Through Breast Cancer Treatment In Antioch 3.5 Hours Three Times A Day As I Was Recently Diagnosed With Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Stage One. So I am Fighting Breast Cancer, Homeless, Nowhere To Store My Belongings Or Having To Rush And Drive Back And Forth As Fast As I Can And Pack In Such A Hurry To Make The New And Only Recently Updated After I Made My Purchase Gate Hours, This Is So Unprofessional. read more

I have driven by this facility many times and it looked very secure SO I THOUGHT. my boyfriend and I are selling our condo and put all of our belonging into a storage unit in this facility. We stared putting items in our unit in February. The last time we entered the unit was in May and yesterday 8/4/13 we came back to our unit to gather a couple of items to notice the lock still intack and not tampered with, but when we opened the unit our large TV, some boxes, and personal belongs stolen!!!! The manager who didn't seemed concerned- told us to call the police dept. since it was the weekend the police didn't want to come down to the property we had to go to the police department to file a report. After we were done we proceeded to go back to the propriety to talk to the Manager and conveniently enough she closed (they don't close till 5 on Sundays) SUSPICIOUS! Once we had time to process what we just encountered, we started doing a little homework. We found out on yelp that there had been a series of robberies (10 to be exact including ours) in this facility in April but ours must have happened between May and August. We were never notified about the previous robberies and as a renter we should have been notified to come and check our units. We can't believe someone could actually do this to people- We personally believe it might have been someone who work at this facility since the made us purchase their lock- i'm sure they made copies of all the keys and allow themselves to have access to all the units, due to our unit's lock not being tampered with- they helped themselves to our things. This place is not secure their one camera is broken and facing down! THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN AND SUIED! PLEASSSSSEE if you're looking for a secure please to put your belongings don't put them here! They really could care less about your personal belongings! I believe this is a bigger issue and upper management should be notified. I have called the district manager as well as corporate to elevate this matter. Today we moved out items to a new storage facility. I guess you get what you pay for! I will never again store my things at any Public Storage! HORRIBLE!! read more

The others aren't lyin!!! I myself, have never got broke into there, BUT..... I rented one of the "Hallway Units" with the Crappy "Plywood Doors". A couple of months ago day I went in at 6am (after driving an hour to get there) and found all of the hallway doors locked. Well, of course there was not anyone on site until 9:30 am. I WAS LIVID! Once I got to talk someone, they advised me there was a "security breach" and that they had to walk me into my unit. I was really upset that there wasn't even a sign on the door, or no one had the courtesy to call the tenants to advise them.... WELL THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS AGO!!!! LOCKED AGAIN! ANOTHER BREAK IN! THEY "SAY" they are going to replace the plywood with roll up doors......but I doubt it - I took my stuff and got out of there..... They need stronger doors, and alarmed units; but if I can help just one person from renting here, my job is done! I would say a big "Helllll NOOOO even if they offered me free rent! read more

I had unit for long time and recently moved out. Property is clean, stuff working hard but the District Manager about 7 years ago was very arrogant and real pain. Also my unit was broken in about couple years ago ,none of the stuff mention anything about filling claim with "insurance" which they make you to buy at the time of signing contract and I have to buy new lock.... I am currently renting 2 storage spaces and what I like about the place is that its clean and in a great location. Most importantly, the people who works there, Tammi and Rhonda, are the two most nicest people you'll ever meet. They'll take good care of your storage needs. They also have some really good suggestions if you ever need help in moving. Pricing can be reasonable depending on your needs. Security wise there is still room for improvement. Overall, this place provides a better storage space than some that I had researched and visited around the area. read more

First, let me say I actually like my little storage space. The lady that helped me, Tammi, was very helpful. What I don't like is the way their corporate website mislead me about the true mo cost of renting the storage. You must visit the location and talk to someone before you'll get the full details on what you'll actually pay. Public Storage had the best price I could find for a 5x5 space, even though it was 11 miles from my home. When shopping for the space, and after making a reservation to lock in the quoted price - $79 a mo, it was never disclosed that a) I had to pay an additional $11 a month for the mandatory minimum $3,000 of insurance; I had to buy a $20 cylindrical lock for the space (instead of using my own). Now, the amount of money involved is mousenuts. Who cares, right? In fact, the company I work for is paying for it, so it's not even coming out of my pocket. But hey, I'm old school. I don't like when corporations deliberately mislead prospective customers. And, the entire process is such a hassle they count on the fact that most people won't complain or decline their deal once you're on site. So, Public Storage - you win! At least for now. But if and when I find a comparable space closer to home for the same price or less, I'll be gone for good. read more

I was getting ready to move out & into a new spot. But was waiting to hear back about an apartment we had applied for. I decided to reserve a space just in case the apartment didn't come through, because I still had to move out of where I was currently at. Tammi assisted me from day 1. She called & checked in w/ me almost every day to assure me the space was being held for me & that I would still get the online deal. I was stressed out to say the least, & Tammi was super nice & she helped in relieving some of the tension that comes with moving. Needless to say, we got the apartment, so I did not use the space after all. However, for the 3 years I have been there, the rent increased to a whopping $150. EKKKK!! The expense is what made my final choice to vacate. Be aware, there is no choice on insurance, it's a mandatory expense. The prices also do rise (what feels like) frequently. The expense is what knocked off a star for me. I used this public storage location for many years. Throughout the years this location was well kept & very clean. If there is a problem at this location, the property manager acts very promptly as I had one problem with a bee hive that was built over my storage (when I had an outside storage). When I contacted the property manager, the issue was taken care of the next day. I cannot remember who was the property manager years ago however recently I had been dealing with Tammi as she is the currently property manager at this location. She has always been helpful in assisting me with my needs at this location & very detailed with me about my questions & concerns. Though I just vacated the location today, I recommend this location to anybody looking for a storage in the Concord area. This location has done me very well & if I ever need another storage in the Concord area, I will return to this location. read more
