Update: The burglary was an inside job. Manager was involved breaking into the storage unit and stealing my property. He repairs the break-in damage, after it is fixed he contacts the customer to inform them the unit has been burglarized. My unit was burglarized early in 2015. The security cameras are not working at the entrance on the floor where my unit is located. I was not told about this when moving in. The company does not offer any support at all. They do not help and do not offer any discounts. Public Storage will not tell me the case number. I have a unit here since december and they did a predatory 50% rate increase sent to me after only 3 months being here, while other units are still advertised at the price I was paying before. This is absolutely unacceptable and now I have to get people to help me move even though I'm on disability now and barely functional. I feel like they scammed me because it's so much extra work to move again and I never would have signed if I knew the price went from 62 to 91 dollars after a few months even though other units my size are listed for the old price. I highly recommend ignoring their initial move in deal and not doing any business with them. It seems there business model is sign people up under a false price then jack the price up once it's inconvenient to move. If you like having your storage unit broken into then yea, sign-up at this location. Otherwise look elsewhere. Mind you, my unit is inside. You need a code to physically get in. Inside job maybe? First time in July 2022, I asked what the security cameras showed and John replied they didn't have any installed. They were currently in the process of having them installed. Just this week, Lena calls me at 4:30 pm to inform me my unit had been broken into. Lena tells me that the break-in occurred overnight. Wait, so you're calling me now? She can't give me details and I'd have to speak to the cops if I wanted to know what happened. I speak to John and he can't seem to get his story straight. I asked why I was seeing called so late, he says it's because they had to call the authorities and fill out paperwork. When I ask authorities weren't called back in July, he says it's the customers who are supposed to call these in, not them. And that a customer called this time around. But he just said that it was them who called. Again, possible INSIDE JOB. Where are all the security measures? I found my old lock inside the unit. Not broken, chipped or shattered. Looks like it was left in there for people to think it was broken into. The staff lacks sense of urgency, compassion, or understanding of their own procedure. I went back in for a new lock, the one they told me to come in for. Melissa couldn't tell me what the process was when someone's lock gets broken into. Yes, you don't keep keys but what's suppose to happen when units get broken into? This wasn't discussed 3 weeks ago when dealing the individuals who's items were stolen? And my rent was raised without notice. Pretty sure, they're suppose to give at least 30 day notice. So those online deals are pretty much a scam. read more

The elevator has been broken for months. Instead of fixing it, they prop the fire exit open so you can use the stairs instead. This means that no access code is needed. This means that all the thiefs in the neighborhood can get in too. Do not use this place. read more

Signing up for the space was very easy. I showed up, they expected me so the entire online process was pretty painless. I checked in to find my space without lighting. Apparently a sensor was supposed to turn on the light. Something wasn't working. Not a huge deal, I can still drop stuff off. So far I've had a pleasant experience with this Public Storage location. The gentlemen I worked with to rent the unit were very helpful and pleasant. I was worried about being able to drop my pod off so that I could unload it into my storage unit, but they made that into a non-issue. I highly recommend giving this place a call or stopping by if you need to store some stuff. The *one* thing I wasn't a fan of is the $20 lock that was foisted upon me without really checking to see if I already had one of my own, which I did, but not a huge deal. read more

Joeseph was very helpful in helping us determine was size unit we would need and getting us through all of the paperwork so that we would be able to move out belongings in that evening. Public Storage - The "lighthouse" Public Storage - Self Storage Near Me - Bellevue, Washington

Currently have a dispute open with the BBB regarding this company. This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a storage company. My rent has been raised TWICE since obtaining my storage shed (in less than 2 years). My original rate was $200 which is now $268!! Each time the rent was raised, I was given absolutely ZERO NOTICE OF RATE INCREASES! According to WA state law, a 30-day notice is required to raise any rent. Every time I call the company, they claim to have sent notices regarding the rent raise but I have NEVER received a mail communication from them. In order to comply with WA state law, they must have sent a notice with confirmed delivery; they cannot provide documentation to prove that they sent a notice. When I called customer service, the girl I was speaking with informed me that she did not want to discuss legal issues and would transfer me to a supervisor. I was then transferred to a voicemail box. I called back and was told that there are no supervisors in their call center, only an escalation line. I asked again if there was a supervisor and was told they do not exist. The general customer service I received was appalling. I was told the escalation line is my only option and responses take 72+ hours from that team. Meanwhile, my card is being illegally charged an amount $68/month higher than my original contracted rate. Once you put the effort into moving your items in, they will immediately begin inching the cost upwards knowing what a pain it is to move again. Check out the place next door - they are privately owned and my friend who rents there has never experienced a raise. As soon as I can get things organized, I'll be moving my things there. read more

My husband and I have been renting from this Storage Unit since August 2020. We just stored a lot of furniture we didn't need anymore to sell and we have gotten 2 complaints when we sold our furniture that it smelled like cigarettes and mind you my husband and I do not smoke cigarettes. So I called to speak to the property manager Issac and I was shocked with the attitude he gave me when I expressed my concern and frustration about this situation, the overall message he told me is that no one ever smoke cigarettes on the property and they constantly check but the truth is how can they know if someone smokes inside the unit as the walls are not full closed. While he was giving attitude on the phone he also did not apologize for the inconvenience and basically made me feel like this was my fault as he said you are the only person who had access to my storage unit. Which is true but the walls are not fully closed so our neighbors could easily smoke inside and it would come into our unit. I have been in customer service for a long time and the way Issac handled this was absolutely rude and horrible. Just his attitude and the way he handled the situation was very off putting and shocking. Don't think we will be recommending this place to our friends and family as I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I went through. Mostly bad. The employees who work here are polite but that doesn't make up for the shitty policies Public Storage puts in place or the abysmal lack of customer service provided. 1. The price quoted online is NOT what you pay. They FORCE you to pay for their own insurance, AND their locks for the unit. So it ends up being 60+ more $$ than you expected to pay each month. 2. I was in storage for about 8 months total and my rent increased after 5-6 months by about $15. Not huge, but annoying after only a few months. 3. When I scheduled a move-out it also apparently cancelled my auto payments, but did NOT notify me. When I showed up to move my stuff, I couldn't access the unit (required to enter the code EVERY EFFING TIME YOU ENTER AND LEAVE) so I had to go to the office, where Jhon "did me a favor" to have the late charge removed (upwards of $35) after I paid more than $190 for my monthly storage fee, of which I would use about half the days. It would have been nice if I'd received an email that my payment was late or that my auto-payments would not cover the move-out date I specified on their own website. Best case would have been allowing me to pro-rate based on my move-out date, but of course they don't do that so you pay for the whole month and they can collect extra $$$. They're just not customer-centric and while the office staff may be friendly, they clearly rest on the laurels of their "management eff-ups" to account for all mistakes rather than taking ownership. 2 stars because location is convenient. I had to moved out of Washington state to look for another opportunities and I couldn't go back at once to check it out. I was not able to make an insurance claim for my lost and instead of giving me discount my rent increase after I could not pay the insurance. They don't deserve a star. read more

This is the worst public storage in downtown Bellevue. We have renter here for 2 years now and have never had outside lights working to see what the hell your doing. Winter time is the worst. AVOID like the plague. Our 2 units have been broke into 3 times in the last 2 years! Resulting in identity theft and thousands of dollars in replacements costs and insurance deductables. They do not have adequate security cameras. They could care less about the problem. They say that the issue is that the city of Bellevue will not allow them to install high, barbed-wire fencing around the perimeter to deter thieves because the property is lined by public sidewalks and they would get sued if someone gets hurt. We contacted Public Storage in Bellevue and spoke with Rob. He was very nice and helpful and we informed him we would need a spot in the next 2 weeks. Rob contacted us a few days before we arrived and said he had a spot available. Rob was wonderful and reassuring that we would have a spot when we arrived in Washington. When we got to PS Kennedy greeted us and showed us the spot and processed our paperwork. Kennedy was very nice and knowledgeable. We were also able to meet Rob while we were there. I started renting my unit here about ten years ago. It was under $100/month. They raise the price at least every year and my latest raise brings it to over $300/month. For the same freakin' unit. For what??? It is just ridiculous. Maintenance of the facility is not a priority. I had a ballast out in front of my unit that I complained about for 3 months til they fixed it. The carts there are rickety if you can even find one. I just rented a slightly larger unit in a new storage company that opened next door to PS and I am getting it for LESS THAN 1/3 of what Public Storage was charging me. Much nicer facility, wider aisles, well lit, and much better carts. I'd highly recommend you do some shopping before renting at this Public Storage. read more

When my husband & I decided we were tired of all my staging items (I'm a real estate broker) being in our garage we started looking for decent storage space. We went to several in Redmond (where we live) and then looked at a couple in Bellevue near my office - and more centrally located on the Eastside. If these items had any real value I would have picked the storage facility just off the end of 520 (across the road that leads to the north entrance to Whole Foods) as they have resident managers etc but were more money than we wanted to spend OR I would rent where we did but then would buy their theft insurance coverage. I'm glad we chose to go to the Public Storage facility on Northup Way in Bellevue! Jhon helped us the first day we went which was Thanksgiving week - gave us the tour, showed us different types of storage units, explained everything and was personable & helpful too. Not pushy - just informative & nice. I called over the weekend to book the unit and signed paperwork with Rebecca on Dec 1st. Rebecca was great too - got us the paperwork in no time, had us look at the unit again and then provided us the lock and showed us how to open their lock and helped me install our own lock too. This facility also had the BEST PRICES we found between Redmond, Kirkland & Bellevue too! W rented a 10 ' x 10' drive up unit. Great packing supplies too. And they'll automatically charge my credit card monthly too. I couldn't be happier about the level of service we received. It was pretty easy to rent this storage unit. Jhon was fabulous to work with and suggested the perfect size storage after taking one look at my moving truck. Fit like a glove so I didn't feel like I was paying for space I wasn't using. Their extra supplies are a little pricey though so make sure you bring your own furniture covers/locks/mattress bags.
