It's a shame because this is a nice looking facility in a good town but Public Storage as usual are just crooks and terrrrrrrrrrrrible at doing professional business. My locker got broken into and my lock was cut and stuff stolen. They wouldn't give me any details and just wanted me to buy another lock. Found out later this happens all the time and people can get in through a fire door. Another shady business practice is month after month they raise rates and penalize good renters by constantly raising their rates with no reason besides the greed of it. Look through reviews it is common business practice for these thieves. And it isn't a little. My unit was $90/month when I started renting 6 months ago and each month has gone up and now is $150/month. I wouldn't store anything of value here. Good chance of getting stolen and they can care less. Go somewhere else I am sad to say. read more

In August we opened our unit to find rat turds and fiberglass insulation all over the storage unit. It was clear the rats had chewed through the heating duct. There was a smell, so we figured it was likely there was at least one dead rat in there. We told management about it. They seemed totally nonplussed, and made no suggestions or offers to help. At the time, we were dealing with the aftermath of the death of a loved one, so we decided to leave it for now and check back later. About a month later, when we checked back, we saw even more turds. We decided to move our stuff out immediately. Neither my wife nor I are young, so we would have normally hired someone to move everything. However, because everything was contaminated with rat feces (and worse), we had to move everything ourself. We had to pay for truck rental, gas, about 12 hours of our time to do this. And while moving and cleaning, we did indeed find dead rats - multiple of them (see pictures below). Throughout this process management of the unit did nothing - no offer to clean it up, no compensation for the damage, and no apology. If I could give negative stars, I would. There are many storage options in the area - look elsewhere. read more

I am a disabled senior female. If they will do this to me, certainly they will do it to a younger person. Avoid this location at all cost!!! Even if they have a $1 first month special. Don't even consider this place. If you need to travel a mile or two out of your way. I regret that upon renting the space from them, that I didn't walk back out once they informed me that I could not use the Universal Lock that ALL public storages use! Instead I was forced to buy this big chunky padlock looking thing, thats required! (Lining their pockets) My move was sort of an emergency, so I purchased this lock. Now I have a new souvenir that I'm sure I will never use again. They don't have drive up units, so that's a negative. Also their parking lot is empty, because folks avoid their ridiculous rules. No business comes to them. I kept my storage space longer than I intended due to the location being so money hungry, they refused to work with me. On April 1, 2024, my lease started at my new place. Therefore I could not get my keys until then. Also I couldn't move furniture in until 4-1-24. I explained this to the location. I pleaded with them, please don't charge me the full month of April. I couldn't get my items out of storage on 3-31-24, because I didn't get my keys until the following day. I even offered to pay for 1 more day. I promised them I would have my it's moved by 11am on April 1st. I am a disabled senior woman. I am a good and fair person. I've always been that type of person. Public Storage on 221st, Issaquah Wa responded to me, NO! They advised me that if the storage was not emptied on 3-31-24 that I would be charged the FULL month of April. I was forced to pay a full month. I believe their intention was for me to a Pay the full month, then return the storage back to them the next day, so they could rent it out to someone new and make more money! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I held on to that storage space that I was forced to pay for until the last day in April!!! I just wanted to share my story with you. Hopefully this helps you make an informed decision. I am finally writing this because it's too much. And not just monetarily. My 10x12 rent went from $189 to almost $300 over at the Issaquah location pretty quickly. Even though they currently advertise for a much lower rate online, they won't match their own rates, saying they have to "put in" for a rate reduction where the negative auto-response happens almost immediately. They said we are not able to speak to a human- that it is all automated. So you'd have to keep moving from one unit to the other to keep a good rate... I can't physically do that. To make matters worse, my unit was just broken into, along with other units. I won't say exactly how they got in because of the other units there, but they currently cannot tell me that my unit is secure. The thieves went through my storage unit, including papers, broke and threw things around, then stole important items and jewelry. I was told by the insurance to leave things as is until they could get someone there to examine it. When I called and asked for an update to see if anything has been recovered and thefacility said they could not talk to me about it. They will also not give me grace time to move into a new unit and facility, even though it is the same company. (The new unit is almost half the price and bigger). They will not cover the cost of move, they won't pro-rate days, and they are about to charge me another full month at the high price because "the automated system" doesn't allow for grace, even in this situation. Whoever got in before can still get in again. When a company's managers leadership answers is at the mercy of an "automated system" or AI, and conveys to its patrons that they also are, no matter the circumstance, there is a serious problem. I remember when this company's leadership and decision-making was more human. I have finally called the reservation line (like I was making a new reservation) and they patched me through to customer service, who gave me a new number I never had that may or may not be able to help. If I ran this company, I would not leave my customers to the mercy of "a system". I would do everything I could to make it right or at the very least, ease the aftermath. I might update this post after a while. No, absolutely NO. This location is rat and mice invested. I've had a storage unit at this location for about four years, and have had no issues, except for the steep price increases which has doubled since I signed up with them. However, recently I went into my unit and noticed brown-yellow liquid on top of some of my plastic storage bins. Then looked some more and saw numerous mice and rat droppings. I looked a little further in some of the cardboard boxes, and sure enough, there was a plethora of mice and rat droppings as well as loads of rodent urine (that was the brown-yellow liquid). The more I looked through everything, the more rodent feces I found. I was so disgusted and had to go through and clean all of my containers, (and throw away others) . I immediately told the onsite-manager about it and moved the entire content of my storage that same day to another company in Issaquah that does NOT have rodents. I had to throw about a 1/4 of my belongings away because they were chewed through and had been drenched with rodent urine and feces, which is also a terrible health hazard. Do NOT use this place. And they do NOT provide pro-rated move-in or move-out rates. If you're there ONE day, you pay the FULL month. Avoid this place! read more

This storage place is awful. I have to call someone every time I try to access my unit. The office is never open, and I now have rodents chewing things up in my unit. My price has gone up over $100, and the place is dirty, rodent infested, and I can't access my unit. When I call customer support, the only thing they can use to access my account to help me is my expired driver's license number, that I can't update to the current one. On June 17 my brother's storage unit was burglerized. His and 4 other units! The thief rented a storage unit online - they used the same name for first and last name to rent the unit. There was no verification or confirmation that this person was legit. It is also $1 for the first months rent - so huge incentive to rent a unit for $1 and then rip off 5 other units and get out. To date, PUBLIC STORAGE has not: 1) credited our account for rent paid - I take that back, PUBLIC STORAGE offered to credit one months rent - that is the entirety of their solution. 2) PUBLIC STORAGE has not followed up on the police report - at all! 3) PUBLIC STORAGE has not made any proposals at all as to how they will prevent this from happening again. I made a list of suggestions and they rejected every single one. 4) PUBLIC STORAGE has not contacted us at all except for the voicemail they left the day it happened. One voicemail. 5) I have since contacted several managers up the chain of command at PUBLIC STORAGE - they have said nothing except "we're sorry". I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General of Washington. read more

My rental fee for my unit doubled within 3 years. I moved out of the unit but there was no one in the office to talk to. The website says contact the property manager who was supposed to be there at the time I was there. I have left messages and written to the company but I have not received a response. My unit was filled with white dust in all of my belongings. I do not recommend this facility. read more

Before reading, this is my advice: DO NOT store anything of value in these units. DO NOT expect Public Storage to make security changes. DO NOT expect your rent to stay the same very long. This is a review of the Public Storage facility in Issaquah, WA at 5806 221st Place SE, 98027. I am paying $130 p/mo for 5ft x 5 ft, except its more like 4'8". When I looked up the location to get the address I see they are advertising 5' by 5' units for $66. hmmnn. We started renting the unit in the summer of 2022. For locks, I followed the company's advice and got the lock they recommended. The clerk, Blake,helping us was friendly and helpful. This complaint is about the Management not the employees. In Dec 2022, less than 5 months after renting, I received a notice to come and check my storage unit for security reasons. My unit had been BROKEN INTO and the invaders had to be from the same floor my unit was on. They obviously had spent hours going through my things and stealing everything of value to them. Thieves are probably comfortable in there because there are NO SECURITY VIDEO CAMERAS in the aisles, only in the elevator lobby where people come in and go out. On my floor they must be retailing thousands of dollars per month and they will not install them. I got the feeling from Blake that these break ins occur with some frequency, his emotions which were bureaucratic and routine offered us no help, and did not match my emotions of alarm and amazement Public Storage does not even have locks with a dead bolt. Anybody with a little pry bar can break in, and Blake implies they are not going to take steps to increase security. I feel violated by the ease with which my unit was systematically gone through to steal things. Public Storage is making a lot of money and too cheap to put on good locks and visible security video cameras which would act as a deterrent to many thieves. read more

Very poor management and customer service. I went to retrieve a few items from my unit last week only to find that the unit was burglarized (one of many in this building.) My lock was cut off and a new lock was installed. I had to have the lock cut off to assess the status of my property only to learn that not only was my property stolen but rodents had destroyed a number of items and the building is infested with rodents. No communication from local management regarding criminal activity at this site. Told that camera's were not working so no surveillance footage available. Very disappointing... read more

I went looking for storage near my apartment complex and found Public Storage. My folks in Virginia use this chain to store things in and have been pretty happy with it. And like them, I've found this branch in Issaquah was just as professional and easy to use. Rebecca from their staff was very friendly and professional when it came to explaining options, rules and expectations. During my tour, I was shown a building that was well maintained, secure and well laid out (their rooms and halls are in a grid pattern). Rebecca was also helpful in identifying what I might need as a first time renter for storage. My only comment about Public Storage is to be aware that you will be required to have some insurance for your belongings. The rates felt fair, but it was something I'd not read on the website which had caught me off guard (none of the insurance options are over $20). I recommend this facility to anyone in the Highlands area! read more

I have recently began the process of moving to new location and have a storage space at Public Storage in Issaquah. I have used Public Storage before with no problems. However this time is totally different. I moved in on the 20th of the month and paid for a full month. I was told that the next month would be prorated and the bill would come with the both the next month and the following( basically 2 months at once). As was told to me it did come on the 12th of that month and I did pay it. However right after that bill came I got another stating I had a late fee for not paying it on the first of the month. So not only did they ask for 2 months on one bill which was sent already past the due date they charged a late fee. Somehow they expect you to pay an amount you don't know which in my book is totally unethical. I have spoke with 3 people now and no one can rectify this issue. BE WARE of Public Storage. You may get charged for more than you expect. I would not recommend using them. read more

What a joke. After losing all we owned to black mold from a slum lord's lack of plumbing repairs, my 12yo Son and I stored what little we had left of our lives in this place. It all fit in a 5x5 unit, to give an idea of what little we had. I was late on my rent. Called Rebecca to tell her I would be in Sat to pay. When we arrived Sat to pay up, we were told THEY SOLD MY UNIT ON THURS!?! Yep. Sold all we had left. I have never felt more violated. As a lifetime resident of Issaquah, I have stored my treasures in many places in town over the years and although I have paid late a time or two, I have NEVER lost my stuff. EVER. We are heartbroken. What was left in there was all we had left of our family history, artwork, my great grandfather's antique book collection, priceless things that will never be replaced. I highly suggest you store your things elsewhere. And, BTW, the $1 rent is BS too. read more

We had reserved a storage unit over the phone with who we thought was Public Storage in Issaquah, but it turned out it was not. We showed up with a truck full of furniture and boxes and spoke with Joan. Even though we hadn't made the reservation with Public Storage, Joan was very helpful in helping us get a unit right there and then at the best price and letting us move our furniture in. I rented what was supposed to be a 100 sq ft unit. When I went to move into it, it looked much smaller, so I measured. It was 81 sq ft. I asked at the front desk about it and they said sizes were approximate. Since 81 sq ft is closer to 75 sq ft than 100 sq ft, I asked that my rate be lowered to that of an 75 sq ft unit. They said no, that it was all approximate and they charged the 100 sq ft rate for that particular unit. I tried several times to explain why I thought the lower rate was fair to both the employees at the facility and the district manager and they all said they would not lower the rate. I vacated the unit after 5 days and went down the road to another facility where I got a true 100 sq ft unit for $25 less per month. Overall, I'd say Public Storage doesn't care. They didn't seem to want my business, so I took it elsewhere. read more

This is a nice, clean, quiet facility. There's nothing wrong with this location at all, in fact the operator, Joe, is very easy to work with. However I cannot recommend using this location for one simple reason: it's operated by Public Storage, Inc. They should be called Public Fees, Inc. because that's all they really do--charge fee upon fee upon fee. Admin fee, lock fee, mandatory insurance fee, and late fees amounting to 20% of rent (which they will charge instantly and without warning--better make sure your auto pay is FLAWLESS). The corporate nickel-and-diming here is tiresome and unwarranted, and I can't feel but completely scammed by all the miscellaneous fees I've been assessed in just a couple months. They all add up to almost another month's worth of rent! Please do yourself a favor and rent from a company that wants your business, not just your money. Nobody deserves to be buried under predatory fees. read more

On Oct 19th we paid for the full month of November storage. Shortly after making our payment we committed to a move and were assured we would receive a full refund. On Nov 2nd when we arrived in town and made final arrangements we were told we would receive a full refund for Nov, but we would have to now pay for our prorate five days of Nov right then. Fine no problem Now Public Storage has our full Novemeber payment plus our extra five day prorate payment! It has now been TEN days, we still have not seen our refund and no one seems to care or want to help. Local or Corporately! Not to mention they shut off our code on the 4th(double paid through the 5th mind you) so when the moving truck arrived on the 5th we could not get into our unit. No one is on the property to help and it took an hour and half on the phones to get someone to handle that mess. Dirty bathrooms. Poor customer service!!! read more

This facility is clean, feels safe, and the staff is friendly and polite. The only comments I have are that on its home page Public Storage advertises that the first month's rent is just $1. However, not at this particular one, which, by the way is temperature controlled. I was told that because their space was limited they weren't giving the 1st month for $1, but I would get 50% off of the monthly rent. Be sure to ask about that before you book. Also, I booked on-line and got a discount. One last thing, I booked at a different, but very close by PS facility because we just moved to this location and aren't familiar with the area yet. The one I booked originally was NOT temperature controlled and we need that feature. It worked out though because before we left this location, we decided this one was closer to our apartment and we'd rather be here. It wasn't until we were actually having a longer conversation with the manager that she mentioned the other place wasn't temp. controlled. We got lucky. Do a better job than I did of checking out the features of each facility and save yourself some confusion. read more
