Rented a nice inside climate control unit. Unfortunately, the one on 221st in Sammamish has a rodent infestation & they don't warn you. Moved out right away & had to pay rat removal people. The staff is nice enough but policy is to NOT inform tenants even when rats are running around in your stuff. I confirmed with another Issaquah location that is their policy. What? Check your stuff if you're there & wear an N95. Worst thing is to sweep any dust... rats carry diseases! Wish they would inform tenants so we can check & replace cardboard with plastic bins etc. or make other choices but to say nothing is horrific. I can store stuff in a sheds in my backyard for $300 a month! WTH. Good luck! read more

Ladies at the front desk are always friendly and helpful. But the public storage corp itself is a joke. I moved in on Apr 30, moved out on Oct 4, totally 5 months 6 days. Even according to their policy, public storage would charge me the extra month of Oct, I should still pay at most 6 months. Now things become weird. 1) I got a $1/month promotion at the beginning, but it disappeared. 2) The rate was always $149, but when I moved out, it suddenly raised to $193. So I ended up paying more than than 6 months according to the weird way of calculation. And if I did not get the promotion, I would end up paying over 7 months for 5 months 6 days. I'd avoid public storage as much as possible. read more

As a long term customer our rent rate increases about every 3 months. So after three years we are paying more than double what a new customer pays. Doug was extremely helpful finding us a new unit in the same building at less than half what we were paying. I must admit I've changed units before to get a better rate but always thought I had to hide what we were doing, so it was a huge relief when Doug said to me "are you sitting down?" I'm so unimpressed with this place. They have increased rent significantly several times now the first was just 2 months after I moved in and we've gone along with it. But when I called to ask for decrease in rent as I've recently lost a significant amount of my income due to COVID-19 And cannot afford the amount in rent they came back with a $1 decrease. $1. They would rather have a customer move out (even when there are plenty of units available) than work with them a little in a difficult time for most people at the moment. Quite the horrific experience and customer service. Not sure if this is due to Public Storage' policies and processes, or this branch independently but I've been shocked at how they've handled the situation. They quoted me at $101/month. When I got my first bill, it was $147/month base. After 6+ hours in a circular pattern on the phone with billing, customer service, branch employees, the branch manager and finally the regional manager, along with multiple emails exchanged, I was no closer to getting to a solution. Regional Manager (Tracy) was anything but proactive in ensuring an acceptable customer experience and did nothing to find a solution, even after verbally admitting the mix-up. This whole ordeal took 6 months for Public storage to adjust the invoice amount back to $101, but I've still paid $368 over what I should have paid. To add insult to injury, countless small frustrations... I was unable to reset my password for my online account, and nobody could tell me the issue. The website is anything but intuitive and self-service is a nightmare. I asked for a PDF version of my itemized bill multiple times to fight the charges and never received it. There was multiple occasions where I was told I would receive a call back but got radio silence. They cut the lock on my unit and left it unprotected for a few days due to me not paying the bill that they admitted I was not liable for, then charged me for a replacement lock. I told a customer service rep I refused to pay the extra $46 they were charging me, and he said "You'd be a fool to do that" in the most snooty and self-righteous of tones. The 5'x15' units don't have lights inside which makes it quite difficult to manage. read more

If you are looking for secure storage then keep looking. I have one of the largest units rented and the onsite manager (Pat) admitted that she does not check the property every day because she is 67 and not up to it. This allowed people access to the property (they cut the fence next to my unit) and later drove in on multiple days and broke into the unit. I was not the only one. Management could care less. Unless you want to just give you stuff away, stay well away from this location. Here is what I found: 1. Outer fence is less than 2 feet from my unit 2. Cameras may not work as they would not let me see any footage of the thieves. 3. Management did not and will not call the police when they found the break in's. 4. Units have no lights in them 5. Property is in total disrepair 6. Management is non existent and could care less about what goes on on the property. 7. Cost is significant and you would be better served to rent a tent and put it in your back yard. 8. When I was calling Pat for information on the theft from my unit, she told me to stop calling her. read more

Would give zero stars if possible. Had black mold on the ceilings and smelled extremely musty. Decided to cancel 3 days later but still was charged for the whole month except the lock fee. They said they'd refund me another $5 but ended up charging me $5 instead. Would not recommend. read more

Public storage is absolutely the worst. This facility itself is well maintained and offers great customer service. Unfortunately their hands are tied by corporate changes and policies. I rented a 10x10 unit for one price. A few months later they raised the rent by over 25%. I went online and found the sized until for the original price (not an i introductory price, just the regular price). I asked to have my price set back and was told no. So i rented the new unit and literally moved all my stored items less that 500 ft to an identical unit. I just checked my bill and like clockwork they have raised the price over 25%. Of course they have the same init available for the original contract price. To be clear, these aren't listed "intro prices that change after a number of months. This time i refuse to play their game and will finally go through everything and probably eliminate the need for a unit all together. Maybe i should thank them for that! Maybe their pricing team should look at the ramifications of running their business in a bait and switch manner. Either way, the management at this location does the best they can and are very friendly, but Public Storage is not a company that does business in a manner consistent with what a company i am willing to give my money to read more

We have used this Public Storage location before and Delores is so friendly, professional and a huge help. So, when we needed to clear out our guest house for refurbishing on short notice, we naturally came back. Delores was able to set us up right away and advise on storage containers for the move, too! I rented storage at this location on March 2016.When I recently went to check my stored items, I saw that someone replaced my lock with a new lock. When I contacted the onsite management they claimed they had no idea what happened and adviced me to get a bolt cutter to break the lock. I went to Home Depot and returned with a bolt cutter and broke the lock. My TV was missing and also a few boxes were opened and the contents scattered around. I called 911 and explained the situation. They sent one officer who took notes and said that there is very little chance of recovering my TV. The facility has no video surveillance. My advice to would be renters is not to keep any valuable items in this storage as they are easily stolen. Totally insecure. read more

I have been a long time customer and have a few things to say. 1. The online payment option is great. 2. It's storage, simple not complicated leave it, it's safe. Now where I have issue is on 2 fronts. First is regarding summer access hours. The gate will not open after 9 pm. Now, what needs to be understood is I store recreational equipment here. And during the summer I would really like access to my unit after 9pm. The long nights in summer keep my family playing late in the evening. The 9pm close time is unfortunate. Second. Over the past 5 years I have seen my rate increase 10% each year. Which at this point has me looking at other storage options. read more

I gave this place a low rating for a few reasons. Although the people are friendly, they are not flexible; and I've been a loyal customer. - They will pro-rate your unit when you start, but when you close out your unit after the 6th, they will not pro-rate that; you're stuck paying for an empty unit for the rest of the month. Seems silly to me because they will pro-rate the next tenant when they move their stuff in, but not me for moving my stuff out early. - These units get moisture!!! I periodically checked my things from time to time and some cardboard boxes I had would be warped and pliable due to humidity. I got some moisture absorbers which didn't help at all. Do not store you're things here folks! You're better off selling your things or storing them at home. read more

Couldn't be any more convenient to I-90 and the facilities themselves are great. We rented a 10X30 unit and it was absolutely humongous! We also got half off the first month. Can't beat that! I am getting ready to choose a storage unit that fits my needs for a few months at a time. Delores was friendly and showed me a variety of units and sizes and wrote down prices for me that were clear and understandable and even called back to see if I had any more questions. Meanwhile, she held a unit for me until choosing definitely. The place seems secure with gate and code needed to enter units. Units are accessible and fit my needs for occasionally bringing items in and out of storage. She also told me about prorated payments and regular monthly rates and that I just need to clear out of a unit by the 6th, ore earlier of whatever month I choose to move out to prevent additional fees after the 6th. read more

Over the weekend my husband and I decided to clean out our garage so we can fit a car in there. We decided a storage unit was a necessity. A quick search on the internet brought up Public Storage literally right down the street from us. The website was user friendly and I was able to find exactly what we needed fairly quickly. Joan was very nice and friendly when I called to find out about how to end our rental and when I stopped in to finalize that we had moved out. The primary reason we left was the constant rate increases. Moving always stinks... Then when you move you gotta unpack. During my move while unpacking I realized I HAVE WAY TOO MUCH STUFF. After a long deliberation I decided to spend the money and put my belongings into a storage unit. Not wanting to spend an arm and a leg to store my stuff, I was on a Bargain Hunt... when I called to inquire about a unit I was talking to a lady that was not familiar with this area and I was really impressed how dedicated she was to helping me find the best deal for my storage needs. When I arrived at this location I was greeted by Dennis who was also very helpful and courteous. Dennis made sure that the space that I was going to rent was enough for my storage needs. He walked me through how to operate the gate. He advised me of the hours of operation for the gate and warned me what might happen if I was inside past that time. Dennis was very informative of all the steps, answered all my questions and in a timely manner! Which was important to me because I was in a hurry to store all my extra stuff! Started out my stay well, then a manager change, followed by a huge rate increase, No notice was sent to me of the increase, Then after inquiring, the rate increase will have me paying more than the rate a new customer would pay for the same size. Seems this company does not want people storing for more than 6 months, and they also seem to not want repeat customers or referrals. Very disappointed with the treatment from management so far. I also have storage with 2 other companies in town and would recommend them first as their customer service has been fair and respectful. I am about to have rotator cuff surgery and Public Storage Knows I cannot move now, so they are taking full advantage of this, Plus how is it even fair to raise a rental rate and not even consider contacting the affected customer to let them know. I have not complained about the rats getting into my unit, since that is expected in an outdoor accessed unit, But am adding it here, just because it is happening. In short do not store here if you are looking for a fair, honest and reputable company. read more

Stay away from this place! Don't store anything valuable here because all of our books and baby clothes and gear stink like mildew now, so these units are definitely getting moisture and mold. The whole point of a storage unit is to save and preserve your belongings, and these storage units are definitely below standard. The representatives should be honest and ask customers what they will be storing and let them know that they should not store any items that will absorb the moisture and mildew. Get a climate controlled storage unit and don't waste your money on a unit that will destroy your items. read more
