This specific location is a total joke. How can anyone feel safe enough to trust their belongings being stored here? Walking to the unit to check out the reservation and I felt like I was going to fall through the floors because the floors are made of weak wood. I cut the zip tie and open the door & see that the doors and walls between each unit is made of drywall - one kick in from the neighboring unit and your belongings are exposed. I zip tied the unit back up and chose elsewhere. Now the location is refusing to refund me because cutting the zip tie to look at the unit is their definition of moving in. There is no physical body to manage the property and no one to escort you or tour the property. I would not trust this location, makes me wonder what all the other locations are like if they allow operations when it looks the way it does. read more

I signed up for a unit at this facility just this month, and it is a typical storage business with three floors. Pretty big, actually, so one would assume that they would have several handcarts or trolleys to help their customers move their items from their vehicle into the facility, right? Well, at this specific place, they had two when I signed up, one of which broke soon after, so then there was one. Just went by there today, and there was none, so now I assume that one broke too. And every time I went there, that one that worked had always been signed out. In the past two weeks, I've been there six times, and was able to use the handcart one time. All the other times, I've had to hand carry all my boxes/household goods from my truck to the elevator, load up the elevator making other people wait, go to my floor, and unload everything one by one, while still making people wait. Then, leaving everything outside the elevator, I need to carry the boxes one at a time all the way down to my unit, hoping nobody takes anything. Being in the military, I can count six storage facilities over the past 15 years, and in all of them, there's been at least 4 to 5 carts available for customers. This is the only place where I've had to physically hand carry everything to my unit. And to be honest, if I had known this in advance, I wouldn't have rented here. The issue lies with the corporate owners, not the management. The manager and the other employees are sympathetic, saying they are "trying to get one fixed", We were able to put man on the moon 50 years ago, but Public Storage can't seem to be able to get a cheap handcart fixed. Or God forbid they go to Home Depot and buy a new one for $100. Luckily I am not too old and can still do manual labor, but if you are older and can't carry a lot of stuff like this, I would avoid this place. I would also like to mention that they keep them locked up, so if you get there after hours, you won't be able to use the ones they have anyway. In summary, I now regret signing up at this specific location. Seriously, with all the units in this facility, they can't buy a handcart? Do they seriously expect every customer to buy their own? And I have to assume the handcart is broke because of the crappy condition of the asphalt outside the facility. Even when I did have the handcart that one time, I could barely push it because of all the holes and poor condition, loose gravel, etc. Judging by the number of units in the place, and what they charge, I have to assume they make $50,000 a month? Mu review is officially 3.5 stars, i just rounded down to get the company's attention. The 13x10 room i pay for is actually 9.5 x 12.5 and because of the size of the room I was GRACED with the gift of light. By light, I mean a tiny iridescent bulb 10 feet up that sheds about 10 lumens in total. The only reason I don't rate the place lower is because I am please with the unlimited hours of entry and the ability to use my phone to open the gate, but primarily because of the on site customer service I got. Sean over at the Aiea storage is THE MAN! He answered every question I had and walked me through every step. His years of experience running the place really show and is it was great receiving his over the top service. read more

The Halawa Valley location is very convenient. The mobile app for access is great. The thing that falls short of everything is the maze like configuration of the storage area. It would help TREMENDOUSLY to have directional signage similar to that in hotels. Arrows that point in the direction of these numbered storage units etc. Trying to find my storage unit was super challenging and ANNOYING. Simple directional signs are an inexpensive way to ensure your customers don't end up wandering around aggravated. read more

ZERO stars. Their $1 move in promotion is a scam. Once you get there they charge you all these extra fees. The storage itself is a joke, concrete is full of bumps and holes so it's extremely difficult to roll around the cart without things falling off. Only one elevator that takes forever! The hallways/corners are too narrow to move around large furniture. The list goes on... Just go to another storage company, Public storage just wants all the money they can get from you. The only upside was a pleasant property manager at this location. read more

Great location in relation to our house. Terrific customer service. However, the after-purchase survey asked about the property manager's professionalism. We did not get to meet the property manager. As an additional security measure, they should implement code access for the elevators. The exit gate takes about 5 minutes to close so anyone can enter if a storage unit renter drives off. After the horrible incident I encountered at Extra Space Storage, I immediately wanted to get all my things out even though I had paid for a whole month and it's been less than a week. I reserved a spot online for Public Storage. I was very simple. I went down to the storage area and spoke to Shawn. He was very nice and showed us the space that I had reserved. I was immediately impressed. Their elevator was much bigger and fit your items and yourself. Unlike the other storage that only fit a small cart in the elevator for your belongings while you took the stairs. And it didn't creek and make noises like the other storage place. Even the appearance of this storage was much better than the last. No all busted up. Shawn was very pleasant and asked a few questions which help him, help me. He looked into his data base and found that there was another space of the same size at a cheaper rate and climate controlled at another location not far from this one. He immediately reserved my space for me and I was able to go to the Pearl City location, check out the facility, and rent this space!!! That is what great customer service is supposed to be! I just moved into a unit here a few days ago. I did most of the checking in online so I could move right in. I promptly got a call, as stated, to confirm my reservation. When I arrived there was the lovely Hannah there to help me get started. She was very informative, helpful & funny too. She made sure to answer all of my questions & that I understood everything (my bill, the insurance & all other fees). She made getting my first storage unit an easy, quick (not rushed) & comfortable experience. I love when a business makes me feel like my needs/wants matter more than sucking all the money they can out of me and that's what I felt here! She also showed me where they had a cart that I could use to haul all my stuff. What a relief! I thought I was lugging all my crap to the second floor myself. She gave me ideas to maximize my space with what I had to put in there & made sure to show to show me how to properly lock my unit, which is a big deal to me as I am a 'podagee' & sometimes things like that are hard for me. She explained the importance of locking it correctly & that insurance wouldn't cover if I didn't (very important info) & she showed me an example of an unit that didn't lock it right. I don't think it's her responsibility, but she put her own lock on that unit so that no one could break in there. Doesn't she rock?! So 5 stars for Hannah! (If I'm wrong I'll edit/fix this) : This may have graphic details that may disgust or otherwise cause discomfort. Details include natural human bodily functions, if you are one to be grossed out by TMI type things you have been warned. I only took a star off because of the hours situation. I am a night owl by nature so usually my down time doesn't start until 6-7pm, which is when the office closes (6pm weekdays, 5pm weekends) Since I just started moving in I got lots of stuff and since it's my firstw time having to store everything I had to take time to figure out how to place it all to get the maximum space. I found myself there late about 8pm & having to use the bathroom really badly. After remembering I saw they had a bathroom in the front I went to go to it. Realizing that it was locked and the office was closed I was a little disappointed that I had to either 'hold it' or stop what I was doing & go somewhere else. Closest I could think of was the park which is scary at night. Other than that I only knew of Aiea McDonald's or my house, which is both a 10 min drive there & back. With closing time approaching & my bladder about to explode I ended up just rushing to my unit, throwing the stuff I already put on the cart in there, locked up & left. The OCD in me isn't very happy because I would have liked to organize it more but 'when you gotta go you gotta go'. It may be just my weak bladder & not that big of deal but that along w/ there seeming to be only one cart is what made me take off a star. The first day I was there I felt really bad because a lady & her young son were waiting for the cart but not knowing this I took my time organizing my things nicely onto the cart. After the little boy starting saying something about the cart is when I realized "oh no, they're waiting for me" & it made me think that with as many units as they have there should definitely be more than just one cart. Again, these are a lot of assumptions and experiences, not facts. I'm going to talk to Hannah about all this & may have to edit this. read more

Brenda is the definition of excellent employee; every time I walked in there she greeted me with familiarity and always called me to make sure my car and storage items were safe. When I came in to pick up my car, she called first thing the very next day just to make sure it was me who took it off the lot. The facilities are a bit confusing to get around and the elevator is SUPER slow, but Brenda makes this storage location a place I would look forward to going to. I was helped by Nancy .. she was good but office functions just weren't in her favor .. no internet so obtaining and signing a lease didn't happen for a while as she called different stores and gave information to input and then fax the copies to her... this process took 2 hours .. a bit long, don't you think? No chairs, no water, nothing while you are waiting. That dollar rental turned out to be much more than a dollar, but still, it is a savings .. you need to pay an admin fee, buy the lock from them which is a good one and you can keep it of course, buy at least two merchandise from them .. total around $56 ... not too bad for the first month I suppose but don't really expect to get it for $1. The facility is maybe about 7 years but appears very old and run down because the maintenance there is poor. You need to get out of your car to input your code as compared to other facilities that you can just punch it in from your car ... no air conditioning; only one cart; no bathroom available when office is closed; no security at night. No windows to open because there is no air conditioning. Miserable if you have to organize your stuff and stay a while ... numbering is a bit weird as you have some units marked 250 on the 3rd floor ... I also have a unit at Dillingham Storage .. much better and they have security at night. and air conditioning and you can punch in your code without getting out of your car (handy .. especially when it's raining) and lots of carts you can use for free and without leaving your ID with the "office" as you use one, like Hawaii Self Storage. Checking out and closing down the unit was very smooth .. I met someone else and there was no delay. Employees are friendly. Facility needs work. read more

I rented here for 2 years, and I want to personal thank Hanna at the salt lake public storage for doing her job. I also want to add that on the night of Aug 2014 my storage unit was vandalize. If it wasnt for Hanna and her husband the theifs could have cleaned me out of all of my personal persection. I thank god for her being there and living on property. I can not thank her enough. She deserves a award, or promotion. Also at that time, of the break in, her life was at stake, and things could have gotten out of hand or worse! I pray that nothing happens to her, or her family. First time renting a storage unit. Nancy was in today and she was very friendly and helpful in giving me the rundown of renting a unit and the facility itself. Speaking of the facility, this is an older one which is reflected in the pricing. These were some of the cheaper units on island between companies and even within the chain itself. Want an even better deal? Apply online for the Internet deal and express checkin, but just remember how the saying goes. The units here are a little rough for what I expected and the place could use an extra cart or two especially when multiple tenants are present. These are the reasons for the four stars. Overall it is still early in my tenancy but my experience with the workers has been pleasant and you can't beat the price. read more

I was supposed to come check out our storage unit and was told to come at a time when public storage was actually having a big meeting for all employees. I was initially upset by the miscommunication and the hassle it took to drive all the way to the unit to have no one there, but soon after nancy explained the situation and quickly made up for it. She was super helpful with answering questions we had, and helped us return packing supplies we ended up not needing. i have rented my units since 2015. they raised my rent by $42.00 dollars every year. i haven't much of a choice because i am on duty overseas. i was able to visit my storage last year after my wife passed away. and was able to donate a lot of item from my smaller unit and close it. two month after i gave back my smaller unit to save a hundred dollars, they raised my rent on my larger unit from $501.00 to $543.00 per month for a 10'x15' non-climate controled. and they did this as the whole world is at crises with the covid-19 killings. you would think this company would be more compassionate like most of the other companies and not raise rents at this time. as the whole world is at a standstill. i guess they want more than a government stimulus. they need to be reported. (i wonder if they are ccp owned?) it's worth checking into. read more
