If I could give this place 0 stars, I would have done it. They raised my rates drastically on me multiple times. I've downsized my storage space three times with this company and the rates keep inflating to what I paid for my larger storage unit. I currently pay over $200 a month for a 5'x5' space. I've seen similar sized space advertised for $40 a month. Don't fall for this trap!! Stay away from this place. They will raise your rates, I guarantee it!!! If you've had a similar rate hike with this company, please leave a review because their yelp rating is very suspicious. I can't believe they have this much positive ratings. This site is great, but the company itself is not. Maria was very awesome in working with us. She set us up, checked in on us and had great customer service. However, Public Storage corporate is out to gouge the customers and the company does not empower the site managers or their district managers to provide a good customer experience. If you are looking for long-term storage, this is NOT the company to work with. They raise their prices regularly. They will work with you and submit exceptions for so long, but this time around they raised my rent by 25%!!! Their logic was, "we have to raise prices based on market and demand, just like an airline raises their prices." My response to that retort is the airlines don't raise the price on you while you are mid-flight. If the rate increases were on par with inflation, or within reason, that would make sense, but they push hard to get you out by raising your rent to unreasonable rates because they want to rent it out at the new rate. When I spoke to my district manager she said "I have done everything I can," which is either a cop-out, or it means the corporate office and the people who make decisions are not the people who actually work with the customers. They do not empower their leaders to lead and run their businesses. read more

Went up to check something in my unit and because it has been awhile, I went to the front office to check my passcode. An Employee named Maria helped me and I must say that her professionalism and willingness to help a customer was awesome! I also inquired to see if they were offering the opportunity to request a rate adjustment due to hardships brought on by COVID and she told me that since I was a very longtime customer in good standing, that she would forward my request up her chain on my behalf. Needless to say, I got a positive response 2 days later and my rate will be adjusted starting next month. I just cancelled my storage unit with this location, after having been there for four years, plus an additional 18 months several years ago. We bought a house recently and in the last year had downsized to a smaller unit, and then finally moved out since we no longer needed storage. This location is well-maintained, well-lit, clean, and we have received superior customer service on the several occasions we needed to contact the office. Clearing the unit was easy through the app. I am glad to let go of that monthly payment, but the peace of mind f having our items stored there was completely worth it. BACKGROUND INFO: initially made a reservation at the Pearl City location. Made the reservation online on Monday 8/9 to move in on 8/14. They said they'd email me a confirmation but never did. But they sent me a text to confirm so I thought, "great! I'll just move in on Saturday." Monday evening I get a call from someone from Public Storage giving me instruction on what to do on the day of moving in. So, on Thursday I decide to go down to the location just to make sure the space is big enough and to pay for the reservation. Girl at the counter tells me the there are no spaces left. I told her I made a reservation online and she told me that the reservation is just to lock in the price. After that it's first come, first served. So, wait, you take the reservation but you don't hold the reservation?? Isn't that the most important part of the reservation?? I was fed up. Decided to call the Waipio location and from start to finish, Andrew hooked me up with the space, talked me through the entire process (unlike the lady from the Pearl City location) and I was able to move in on Saturday as planned. It was a smooth transaction from start to finish. Folks at the Waipio location made me a Public Storage customer and a happy one at that. Will never deal with the Pearl City location. Michelle & Maria were helpful but wished the company could have provided more assistance to us after the incident. I also suggest that they reconsider the design of the storage unit since the top is only covered by mere chicken wire. I've had to take off from work to clear out our unit, file claims and reports. This is my first time renting a storage unit and overall it was really easy here. I did most of the sign up process online, including getting the first month for $1 (plus fees). Maria oriented me to the facility and was informative and helpful. We'll see how the storage unit goes in terms of security and quality of the facilities, but so far so good! You can only access this place until 9pm, which sucks when you're trying to move with a mattress strapped down and get there at 10pm. That's my only complaint. It's convenient to access when going between town and NS and close to costco too, perfect! FYI there are 2 other Public Storage facilities in the same 1 mile block radius and google maps isn't so great at finding this one...Let's just say I found it eventually! read more

Not satisfied and will take my things out when the month is over. It's dirty, security bad, difficult getting in and out and to use the elevator. I stood outside almost 2 hours because there was no hand trucks or carts!! When I received confirmation email, it said my move in amount is $52. I was charged $88!!! Employees park in front when it should be for customers . I told the employee that a lady was blocked in and found out it was her car. She made no attempt to move her car. Just read another review that someone had their unit broken into. Even if you buy insurance, how do you get your things back? Oh yeah, there was a couple in there thar weren't watching their kids. The boys were running around and banging on all the storage unit doors. So, they not watching. Also no emergency or evacuation info near elevators. Waited over 10 minutes until elevator finally came. Floors are dirty, inside elevator is dirty. The other guys that posted positive reviews must own or work there or related to them because they're lying. read more
