Five stars maybe six. I am pretty picky about service and I was blown away. Server (Chantelle?) greeted us and got us drinks. I drink a lot if iced tea and my glass was never more than 2/3 empty. She recommended the the tuna app and then cheerfully brought out extra sauce when we requested it. She recommended the crab chllquilles and they were amazing. My buddy and I couldn't decide between that and the oork so he got the pork and we mentioned we might share. She had both items split in the back for us so it wasn't awkward. The manager came by and visited but it was more like a friendly chat that just checking on our food. First rate experience. We also had dessert that was great. read more

Excellent place to stop for amazing food & drinks. We came here for a late lunch during a convention downtown and were accommodated by the friendliest people. Food was delicious and hit the perfect balance between tradition and creativity--(highly recommend the tuna and duck tamale appetizers in particular). Our server/bartender Adam was one of the best in the business, top 1% of servers I have had with his charisma, personality, and attention to all the details of our brief time there. Visited Proximo for the first time today. Lots of friends love it, so I was excited to finally come by! Beautiful ambiance. Very attentive service. And arriving in the late morning meant both the breakfast and lunch menus were available, which seemed like a great way to get a sense of the food... I was really excited! I ordered the Crab Chilaquiles: a Mexican-inspired dish featuring crab, radishes, pickled onion, avocado, and a fried egg served over corn tortillas, garnished with cilantro, a little queso cheese, and tomatillo salsa. Unfortunately, after a few minutes, I noticed the avocado was completely missing... (photo attached.) And by then, the waitress had already been around to ask how things were. Since I'd already eaten almost half of the meal, I didn't want to complain... but I bet a few bites of avocado would have worked perfectly to soften the tart radish/onion and spicy tomatillo flavors. If I ever come back, I'll make sure all components are included first, before eating! Beyond that, it was a very enjoyable experience. This has become one of my husband's and my favorite special occasion spots. We just celebrated our anniversary here Monday. The staff is so friendly and caring. You feel very taken care of here. I asked for a virgin cocktail list and the bartender said he'd make anything virgin for me that I wanted! My husband got an old fashioned and loved it. We ate the guacamole appetizer. The guacamole was perfectly blended and seasoned. It came with house made tortilla chips and plantain chips. SO GOOD! I got the guava glazed salmon for my entree. The salmon was nice and crisp on the outside and tender inside. The glaze was perfectly portioned on their and paired wonderfully with the jalapeño rice. I have a dairy allergy and my waiter made sure to tell the cook not to use any dairy in my entree. My husband loved his Cuban chicken! So much that there was barely any left for me to try. I highly recommend Proximo for your next fine-dining meal. read more

Wow. So great. I haven't had anything close to this since I lived in New Jersey. They serve a wide variety of fine cuisine throughout the latin world: peru, Ecuador, Chilie, Argentina, Cuba, etc. I had Spanish Paella, tortilla soup, and tres leches. It was superb. My new favorite. read more

It's sad that this is really the only brunch place around here. We go because we love our weekend brunches and don't always want to drive to Indianapolis, Detroit, Chicago or Cincinnati. This was a fabulous find. All of the food was spectacular except my guest did not like the pasta in which she alleged was flavorless. However, I had three red snapper and it was divine. We were visiting Fort Wayne from Dallas yesterday and came here to eat breakfast. Sitting next to us were a couple of women that were horrible patrons. About everything the waitress served them they had an issue with, took a few bites, sent back to the kitchen. The wait staff and manager were so nice and accommodating ! I was in awe how respectful and kind they were. This lady was rude, disrespectful, and unreasonable. if I managed this restaurant I would have asked them to leave. We went here to celebrate our anniversary, and it did not disappoint!! This is our second time going here, and it is consistently delicious- to add to it being also consistently good about watching out for my husband and his numerous allergies. The waiter was very attentive but not a helicopter, the food was all on point, and the atmosphere was great as well. This rating is ONLY for the dulce de leche French toast and nothing else (although, one star off bc service can be hit or miss). That is the best French toast I have ever had (in Fort Wayne) and anyone who disagrees is probably wrong. If you're in the mood for an old fashioned French toast, this isn't that. However, if you're craving something that will absolutely satisfy your sweet-tooth, please look no further. The combination of the bread, berries and pecans is honestly a match made in heaven. We came here for Saturday morning brunch and didn't leave disappointed! The outdoor seating was nice and shaded on a beautiful August morning. The menu was very extensive for brunch, and featured good looking breakfast and lunch options. I went with the steak and eggs, and was very impressed with the dish. The potatoes on the side were fantastic! I ordered some of their house made hot sauce on the side and it was very good; I would recommend it for any dish. We went to Proximo three times in one week (by no means our norm, but we were living it up!) and by week's end it made it on to my list of local favorites! The atmosphere is warm and sophisticated and we had fantastic service each time. Our waitress the first visit, waiter the second, and the bartender the third (we sat at the bar) had vastly different personalities, but all three were friendly, helpful and entertaining. The milk punch and Mai tai were delicious, the guacamole was hearty and citrusy and the Barbacoa mushrooms were exceptional. As for entrees, the Clam and Crab Fideos was nothing great, but the Scallops Diablo were out of this world is and the Seafood Paella (see photo!) was wonderful! Went there for breakfast today. First visit and we were not disappointed. They serve breakfast and dinner all day.. We had a hard time deciding so we got a little bit of both... We got the street tacos, breakfast burrito and at the recommendation of our waitress we got an order of the French toast... All entrees were heaven on a plate and our server was right on point. We will definitely be back and will ask for the same server as well!! Came during the lunch hour but still craved breakfast and they were kind enough to accommodate. Service here is always fantastic and friendly. They are great about modifying items on their menu to accommodate each guests need. Our little boys love the grilled salmon on the kids menu. The portions on the menu are large and taste great. Latin inspired food that goes far enough to make the dishes seem very classic while still allowing them to be approachable by guests who aren't familiar with this cuisine. Things to order - Cuban chicken, Seafood Paella and Pork al Pastor. Or in our case the breakfast chilaquiles or Morgans breakfast tacos with chorizo. Went to proximo for lunch the other day, it was my in law's first time there and we had a horrible experience. The server clearly seemed annoyed that she had us, she barely checked on us and the service was below sub par. She never even came back to grab the bill, so after a while i just got up and handed it to the bartender. I felt racially profiled. I'm sure she was still shocked we left her a 20%+ tip on a $216 bill, though she really didn't deserve it. I don't recommend eating here unless you are content with shitty service based on your skin color. Throughout my visits it's a common reoccurrence i notice but the other day made me never want to go back. Not only did i feel uncomfortable and felt the coldness but so did my guests. Seeing how differently caucasian customers are treated right in front of you while you are just ignored is just very displeasing. If you are a person of color the servers kind of ignore you assuming you won't tip & are wasting their time and taking up their tables. Most unwelcoming experience! Side note--we only tipped her because we are servers as well so we had compassion, but she definitely did not deserve it based on her service. read more

We were welcomed by front desk and seated and our waitress shows and just handed the MENU and said she will be back , came asked if were ready to order -RUDE , we had another couple right next to our table and they got a different hospitality than us , explanation of the menu what was special for the day and drinks etc . 100% recommend. Service was great, vibe was immaculate, AMAZING food. Great location in the small city of Fort Wayne, IN. If your looking for a place to have a nice brunch with your friends or family, this is the place to go. Very open and lots of natural light. Also, the food came very quick for it being as busy as it was. I do recommend getting a reservation ahead of time because it is usually pretty busy but not overwhelming. Proximo's food was decent. It was a bit bland, lacking some flavor. I ordered the street tacos and I had to assemble myself, which I did not appreciate. The steak and chicken ( don't know what happened to jalapeños- did not taste any heat!) needed to be cut into smaller pieces. Street tacos need to be ready to eat, as they are "street" ready to eat as you go- I have to say I had better from a street food truck. The Peruvian Saltado was better flavored and worth trying. My husband enjoyed it. The Santa Fe salad was ok. The cabbage in the salad was not a good combination, or it needed some flavor added to it. This dish too was bland. The staff was friendly and courteous- really appreciated that. Our waitress was pleasant, and busy that she forgot to bring the salt. We asked the cleaning staff and they got us one right away. I would go a second time to try the other fare that seemed interesting upon reading it, but not the tacos. If you don't mind assembling- then go ahead and try it. read more
