Had an awesome dinner here a couple weeks ago on a Friday night. It was pretty busy, so I was happy that I made a reservation in advance. I didn't know anything about the restaurant since I don't like in Fort Wayne-I was under the assumption it was street tacos or something. It was not that! This is a nice, classy restaurant. I can't say enough about the family of restaurants in Fort Wayne that include Baker Street, Proximo, and Hoppy Gnome. As I am recovering from non-trauma kidney failure (since Feb. 28) my diet has certain temporary restrictions such as prohibiting dairy, salt, animal fat, phosphorus and potassium. Having worked in the food & beverage industry I know how difficult modifying certain dishes can be. In our past 3 visits to Baker Street our server suggested entrees that are easily transformed simply by eliminating the seasoning and I've been quite satisfied with the results. A couple of days ago I contacted Proximo to inquire about a certain dish on their menu and explained my situation to the person who'd answered the phone. She did not have an immediate answer to my question and said she'd have someone call me back. James Gibson, Manager of Proximo, called back within half an hour with suggestions for salt modifications on certain entrees that fit the bill for the rest of my restrictions and we promptly made a reservation for this evening. After we placed our orders Executive Chef, Kevin Fredrickson, came to our table to recommend one more change to the dish to make it more acceptable to my diet. Our server, Tina, was on board as well. Mr. Gibson also approached our table to make sure all was satisfactory. That kind of care and concern is rare in today's society but is greatly appreciated by Scott and me. We haven't visited Hoppy Gnome since my health has changed but a friend of ours had an equal experience there. She, her husband, and 4 friends stopped in later in the evening a few years ago without a reservation. Our friend has certain food allergies and upon perusing the menu decided there was nothing compatible with her condition so her party got up to leave. When questioned why they were leaving the manager told them nobody goes away hungry from the Hoppy Gnome and proceeded to prepare meals for the table and a special meal that adhered to her needs. We enjoy many of the eateries Fort Wayne has to offer but we'd be hard-pressed to find a company of restaurants that goes well above normal standards to take care of their patrons like Baker Street, Proximo, and The Hoppy Gnome. I've been here 3 times. The first time we had a reservation but they weren't prepared so we had to wait 30 min to be seated and were there over an hour before even getting our drink orders. The manager felt bad and gave a hit card top each adult at the table, which honestly is the only reason I went back. The second time was ok but the service was slow due to kitchen issues. I ordered the Ecuadorian ceviche & chicken tortilla soup. Both were tasteless and lacked salt. The chips were homemade but stale and very hard. The ceviche did not have enough lime/lemon and not nearly enough salt. Ratio was totally off. Very basic tasting, and totally lacked complexity. I had to ask myself--did they taste the food? The soup tasted like cumin and not much else. It was loaded with corn and maybe 4 pieces of chicken. Not nearly enough for a bowl. I spent too much to be this disappointed. Food looked great online. Had lunch here today and thought it was great. They had a decent crowd for a crappy day downtown but service was spot on. I ordered the flank steak salad but swapped the steak for sautéd mushrooms. They didn't even blink when I asked. The salad was pretty to look at and delicious. The crispy fried Fresno peppers gave it just the right amount of heat and the queso fresco and dressing balanced the heat perfectly. We also got the guacamole appetizer (not pictured) that came with home fried tortilla chips and plantain chips (which were fabulous!). So happy with this new restaurant! It's earned a top spot on our list of places to eat in Fort Wayne. We started with the empanadas which were delicious. The three empanadas were perfect for two to share and the dipping sauces were great. The Cuban Chicken entree was delicious and the portion was huge! Two large chicken breasts grilled perfectly with a delicious sauce. The rice was really flavorful and full of veggies. Beans were off the charts as well. The Pato con Mole was delicious too. Really great mole sauce and the duck was absolutely perfect. I also highly recommend the lemon hibiscus tart for dessert. The sweet meringue was a perfect compliment to the tart and the graham cracker crust added great texture. The cocktails were really impressive too. The server suggested I get the Milk Punch, which was not creamy or milky at all, and I was beyond impressed. For a mostly liquor cocktail it was incredibly balanced and had a really light bright flavor. They really seemed to have it together in terms of service. Went to bk this AM in downtown Fort Fun! While a little slow at the hostess stand to get us seated (not sure why?), we were seated outside for a lovely setting to enjoy the beautiful weather and our bk. First time here, but they didn't disappoint! I got the tacos, and they allowed me to order three different meat choices for each one. I also had a super cup of coffee. My partner noshed on the Dulce de Leche French Toast & enjoy her coffee too. Our waitress was very pleasant, timely and efficient. Not to mention courteous and friendly! Great food! I had the Carnitas Benedict and my woman had the Ancho Maple Pancakes. We both loved our meals. My Benedict was great and the mistress loved the pancakes. She got the cranberry mimosa, which she also liked, and I got the Caribbean Cafe, which tasted like a decadent tropical cappuccino. Our server, Danny, was awesome. If you come here, make sure to sit in his section. He was very knowledgeable about all the menu offerings and food pairings for the drinks. He even knew the entire wine selection. Danny is awesome! Was in town for the weekend for a bridal shower with my daughter. We both used to live in Ft Wayne and wanted to stop in for breakfast at a place that wasn't here when we lived here. Not impressed. Let me start by saying this- No matter how busy or understaffed you may be you DON'T treat your customers as if you are. First off, the hostesses were short and rude. We had a 30 minute wait for a table (not really that bad at peak times). One of them came over and offered us to sit at the bar and when I turned to my daughter to ask her if that was ok the hostess said rather curtly "do you want it or not?" We had ok service, the server was neither rude or pleasant. Once again made sure to let us know they were understaffed. Food- just ok. I had a traditional type breakfast. Bacon not cooked as I requested. Scrambled eggs-eh. Daughter had skillet breakfast and yolk of egg was overcooked. A regular customer came in and sat at bar and our server was super friendly to him. Great experience. The bar staff made us feel very welcome as we celebrated our anniversary. Food was good. The bartender was great. Only reason it was not 5 stars is the Bloody Marys were very lame. As a frequent road traveler, I like to have "go-to" restaurants in cities on my typical driving routes. I found this establishment by using Yelp. This casual, upscale restaurant has a patio to dine on. It is a nice break from being cooped up in a car. Our server, Bailey, was terrific! She was attentive, thorough, and had great recommendations. I love it when the staff and food are equally good. I had Peruvian Saltado and my travel mate had Cuban Chicken. Both dishes were phenomenal! These dishes were of flavors and combinations we don't typically eat. It's nice to have other options besides our typical go to foods which are Thai, Indian, Asian, etc. We had an appetizer, Mushroom Escabeche, a unique twist on guacamole and chips. Yum! One of the best new restaurants in the Fort Wayne area. The open kitchen, beautiful bar area and comfortable seating is a welcomed addition to downtown. I would describe the menu as South American fusion. My wife and I started with the appetizer special. Three meatballs covered in cheese with just the right amount of heat on a cold snowy evening. My wife had the scallops and I had the entree special of medium rare ribeye over creamy pasta and sweet corn. Both dishes were cooked, seasoned and presented perfectly. I've been meaning to write a review here for awhile, but I just keep going and forgetting to write how awesome it is! The first time I went was in the fall for a birthday lunch..perfect! We had a corporate Christmas event there...perfect! Several more visits all very good including two brunches. We went Saturday night and I was able to get their tofu steak special even though the special was finished! The waitress offered to check with the chef and see if he had the ingredients to make it. Delicious! All of my meals here have been vegan and each time I had something a little bit different and it wasn't salad, not even once. They also have very good non vegan food. My son has enjoyed several of their fish dishes. A don't miss if you are making a vegan friendly list. read more

Went on a Saturday night. Our waiter was great, he was very knowledgeable about the menu and cocktail options. The drinks were very slow to come out. The Rosemary Pisco Sour was incredible, great balance of sweet and tart. The Crab Chilaquiles were excellent, an ample amount of crab with delicious pickled onions, spicy tomatillo salsa and an egg to balance it out. My friend had the Salmon Salad and she said it was good. We also had the Street Tacos, the flavor of the meat was good but it was a bit cold when it came out. Best Latin restaurant in town! The waiter recommended that we get the chilaquiles and substitute chicken as the meat for an appetizer, and it was so good! We got a smoke to sarsaparilla to share, and that was a tasty yet unique experience. The churros were really good and the staff made note of my dairy allergy to provide a Berry compote instead of ice cream.
