The congee, beef noodle with veges, and choi sum vegetable were tasteless. The sui ma and the beef steamed rice roll had some really rare taste. Services were good and foods came not late. Prices are higher than most other comparable Chinese restaurants. There is a 2.4% surcharge fee on the full amount of the bill for using a credit card for payment. We came here for dim sum today. This space was previously the vegetarian restaurant. I had no idea it was even open because the signage is black and the entrance isn't really visible from the roadside. They have renovated and it is reminiscent of a Chinese courtyard, all full of wooden pagoda accents and wooden furniture. The dim Sum menu is in a small booklet form It is annoying flipping through the pages and not seeing everything on one sheet. There is not a huge variety of dim sum. The typing is a bit small and the lighting is dim. (Other patrons couldn't see the menu too) Our food came out in a timely manner. Only thing that took a while was the sui Mai. Had to flag servers down for sauces and water refills. The food was decent and well seasoned. There is early bird special pricing before 11am and tea charge is $2 per person. read more

The first time came here was on a weekend after reservation, the reception area was super crowded and no one cares about us. We left right away and decided to come during this week day noon. I stood beside the reception desk where I can see lots waitress were walk around inside and one lady standing in front of the bar computer busy typing stuff. The tables were not full. After about 5 mins, finally a lady approached and asked me for how many ppl..,. We had waited about 30 mins for all the food to come and it was not that busy. I like this place, the interior looks like it will serve Northern Chinese food instead of dim sum. The menu you got is fancy, unlike the big piece of paper that you'll always get in other dim sum place. Prolly because they don't have that big of a variety of dim sum to serve hence putting them in a little book will be a better presentation. The dim sum in general were not bad, my favorite is their baked almond bun, those almond juice was flowing out and sweet, I would go back just for that! The mango mochi was so-so, there were too many cream inside and not enough mango, and the skin wasn't too thick tho. My least favourite is the hock pork with ginger in sweet rice vinegar, it's not cheap but the portion is so tiny, and their ginger looks like remaining ingredients from other dishes! Otherwise, their dim sum are interesting, there's a little bit of twist here and there on many traditional dim sum that you may see elsewhere, be it presentation, ingredients used or flavour. That is why I give a 5 stars, because I appreciate restaurants that are willing to put the effort into making changes and improvements. They also have some selection that you normally do not see it in other places. It also be a great venue if you considered to have a traditional Chinese elements involved to your wedding. Came here on a snow storm Saturday and the venue was still packed. Loved the decoration of this venue, makes me feel like I'm back in ancient china town. Their dim sum menu is on the unique side, so you might not be able to find all your dim sum classics. We ate a little before coming, because we were anticipating the typical weekend dim sum wait time. All the dishes we ordered were yummy! They're priced slightly above typical dim sum places, but nothing too crazy for what you're getting. Highly recommended if you want to try something new. read more

We went here for lunch, and walking in the restaurant the tone is dark and you can see bonzai element which is quite interesting for a dim sum restaurant. It brings the warm atmosphere to the restaurant. It is newly opened so there are a lot of people.  The food for lunch they serve mainly dim sum with set menus and side menus. My first time here for dim sum and it is quite a lowkey spot. It is large and spacious but wait times can still be long. The food is decent but service is slow and could use a bit of improvement. Worst service and food is the worst I hate the rice rolls worst taste ever 1/10 never trying again

Was told to make a reservation because of covid restrictions. Got to the restaurant and sat down as a table of 4 and noticed there was 6 other people in room we were in. Then I heard a bunch of people in the private rooms around the restaurant. They proceeded to sit even more people down after us. I counted almost double the limit by the time our food came. One of the tables that left the private room had 6 people come out. Already not impressed with them breaking covid rules and not telling us beforehand that they are going to sit more than 10people in the restaurant. Then we get to ordering the food. We ordered one of their set items that includes a 1.5lb fish. We were told that they ran out of the small fish and we had to pay more for the bigger ones. My mom asks them to check again and they said that they were all similar size. She walks over to the fish tank with the server and picks out one and it turns out to be 1.3 lbs. We wanted to order rice and they told us they were sold out of rice but they can make us fried noodles or fried rice. Pretty baffling. They most likely wanted to squeeze as much money out of us as possible. In terms of the food, the 1.3 lb fish we ordered was still raw on the inside when the manager, not knowing how to serve fish, butchers it infront of us into a thousand pieces. She tried to cover it up by scooping the soy sauce onto the meat of the fish even though we told her to stop. Everything else that came was super greasy. The set meal also came with a Peking duck that was most likely refried, instead of it being roasted. The only thing they didn't mess up was the steamed vegis, which I guess is pretty hard to mess up. You could easily miss the place because there is no sign with the restaurant name anywhere except by their door. It's the building south of the Buick dealership on Woodbine. It used to be the vegetarian restaurant. Parking can be hassle as they only have very limited spaces with only one handicap spot. They are signs reminding you not to park in other stores' parking lot. Food is delicious and not overly flavourful but don't expect big ha gaos or big siu mais like other fancy dim sum places around. All SML dim sums are for $3.80 if order is placed before 11am. Not sure if it's the same case for weekends and holidays though. Interior is very nicely renovated with a darker colour theme. There isn't a lot of space between each tables so don't bring in a stroller. They provide Stokke highchairs for the babies. Washrooms are spacious and clean (with a family/handicap washroom). Service was good, we were greeted by many manager looking people. One of them gave us free tea charged! We asked for a VIP card but they say they only give it during dinner time. This used to be one of my favourite places for dim sum but they have unfortunately changed the menu recently. All the dishes that I liked are now gone :(, including the crispy seafood rice roll, XO sauce rice roll and the mango mochi. To make matters worse, we visited for dinner recently and the service was very subpar. A number of dishes were sold out so we had to order multiple times as each time we ordered we were later told that a dish was sold out. Then when the food finally came, we received only one dish and had to remind the servers after an hour before the other dishes starting arriving. When we paid the bill, the server told us to wait for dessert but again, it didn't come after almost 10 minutes so we ended up leaving without it. Food tasted fine but was on the oily side - especially the beef with gai lan (see photo). Very disappointed. read more

I was excited to hear a new Chinese restaurant opened up. This restaurant looks relatively small from the outside, but when you walk in its actually quite spacious. This place is pretty fancy. Aside from their decor like others mentioned, their dim sum menu is given to you as a little booklet and they have Stokke high chairs for toddlers (not those traditional wooden, wobbly high chairs lol). Early dim sum prices are $3.80 which is not bad at all given the atmosphere. They do have some unique dishes aside from the typical har gow, siu mai. Parking is available at the front, side and back of the building. However I found the back parking spaces to be pretty crammed. Given the dim sum places in Markham, this place is worth a try - something new and interestingly more unique. read more

This place got some decent decor but as other reviewers mentioned the lighting is a bit lacking. Food is decent, nothing that special to be honest. Tastes about the same as any other dim sum place. Service was mad slow. Got hungry waiting for the next item to arrive. Needs improvement in this department. Also please fix the potholes in the parking lot. The duck dish is smaller in portion now than the one shown in the photo ( half duck) . The duck was lean and meaty. I like both this place and yu seafood. Visiting this newly opened restaurant in Markham for lunch dim sum on a regular day, no wait line and the restaurant is about 70% full. First impression the place is dark and I really annoyed by the dull and old-looking carpet. Like all other dim sum restaurants, the space between each table is limited and you can clearly overheard the other's conversations. Also, the service is quite slow considering the restaurant is not full. It takes a few try to get the waiter's attention and the food come slow. Interesting part is the dim sum menu looks like a small booklet, it looks cute but I rather to have a one-page menu to avoid all the flipping over. The dim sum selection is not board enough. There are a few items I usually ordered but couldn't find it here. I wish they can expand the menu. EXTREMELY DISORGANIZED. Came here at around 2pm today in support of Asian cuisine for the Asialicious event. Got inside with my family, STOOD LITERALLY IN FRONT of the lady giving out numbers. She heard me ask for a number but willingly ignored me. She seemed frazzled, confused, didnt seem to understand hiw to prioritize her tasks, standing behind the safetly of the counter. Definitely not the first impression you want to give to new custoners coming in. We ended up leaving in frustration. I just brought some take out from this place. The plum duck was terrible. The worse I even had. It was cold wasn't even stew as it should be. The pork belly tofu was tasteless. Service is not the best n food quality was not as it was before, on the over price side. Rumour has it that they lost the head chef & their lady executive manager still left a lot to be desired in her customer service and aggressive and over priced banquet pricing. Unless they can keep up with better food quality and improve their customer service, run by or have a better management team, their business may go south.
