Ryan was the sales contact I worked with and he was very friendly and helpful in explaining what's needed, and tailored the services according to our needs. Great company! We had a swarm of subterranean termites that left hanging tubes from a ceiling joist next to a closet at the garage/home junction. Dry wood termites were found at several joists/ceiling points in the loft. Ross, their inspector, was friendly, informative & very thorough - he was the only one from the 3 companies we contacted who suggested also drilling inside the garage slab, closet slab as well as on the home exterior perimeter. He wrote up proposals for both tenting/local treatment for the dry wood & soil treatment for the subterranean. He noted that there was some problem with the garage/wall junction for doing a thorough tent treatment. He was also very patient with my numerous follow-up questions. We opted for the local/soil treatments since we are living in the home - both proposals carry a 3 year guarantee. Eric, who did the treatment, was polite, friendly & respectful of our property. He ensured the garage door was closed when he wasn't working there, closed & locked exterior gates before letting me know that he was done. He was very thorough & informative. I liked that he verified whether we had pets & also offered to put on shoe covers. He cleaned up following the treatment & gave me information regarding the patched holes. We did a lot of prep work prior to treatment as we had a number of edible plants next to the foundation (PSA: do not plant grapevines next to your home foundation - termites love the subterranean home & treatment to send them packing stays in the soil for several years; we relocated all edibles as AI said this was a "choose 1 situation": the termites or the harvest.) I was so impressed with Proven Termite's professionalism while they were fumigating my next-door neighbor's home that I wanted to share my experience. My initial concern was the health effects of the fumigation gases due to my home's proximity to the tent. I noticed some hollow spots in my floor and initially suspected termites. After going into the crawl space, I also saw some small holes on the underside of the floor, which increased my concern. I contacted Proven Termite Solutions and sent them the photos I had taken. They assigned Jim to come out and evaluate the situation. Jim carefully examined the floor, reviewed the photos, and explained that the damage was caused by fungus rather than termites, noting the absence of termite pellets. Updated: This review is a checklist for those who are sensitive to any type of harmful substances in the air. I am a tenant at a small 4-unit apartment complex that was recently fumigated with Vikane & Chloropicrin by PTS. I am healthy & don't have asthma. I am sensitive to dust, mold, and allergens. I highly value honest reviews, and just want to share what I wish I knew before signing off on fumigation by my landlord. Common questions I had, and what my advice is for you: 1) Is there residue? There was a thick film of white dust left on my furniture (desk and side table) that was left inside the apartment. I learned that it's due to the windows staying open during fumigation. I swiped my finger along my table top, just to check, and a layer of chalk-like residue remained on my finger. They told me it's not toxic, but I suggest definitely do a thorough cleaning before moving in your items. Even hire a cleaning service. Recommendation: Move all your furniture items into a U-Haul rental truck during fumigation, if you have an extra parking spot available. Don't forget to buy a lock that fits the truck latch - it doesn't come with one. 2) Is it safe to return the same day they take off the tent? The ventilation process, is done with the tent still on, and for 22 hours ish. According to the CA regulations, it's following protocol, but for me, I chose to wait an extra 4 days to return to my apartment. Even still, I had dizziness, headaches, and shortness of breath. This led to me having a respiratory induced panic attack in the early morning (this was my first time having a panic attack, so I didn't know numbness in my hands, was more likely due to panic attack, rather than vikane/chloropicrin toxicity). I went to the ER, got several lab tests and x-ray for lungs, Hospital bill was $17,000, with insurance, my out of pocket was $3,000. A huge bill, for something completely unexpected. 3) Are there health risks from fumigation? Anytime there are lethal chemicals/pesticides involved, of course there are risks, and you sign a paper noting that you're aware of them. However, if you're worried at all about your health and post fumigation air quality, I would read up on fumigation alternatives before going through with it. I didn't do enough research, and just trusted what I heard from my landlord, but each person will have a different reaction. Had I known I would have respiratory issues, panic attack, ER visit, cancellation of work/personal plans, and a large medical bill, I would have asked my landlord not to get the fumigation (he offered to pause it since we were the only tenants in a small 4 unit building at the time, but I didn't think I would have breathing difficulty upon returning). 4) What happens if you call poison control? I called the poison center number listed on my door post fumigation, to learn more after my visit to the ER, but found the number is completely unrelated to PTS. They said they know nothing about fumigation and cannot share info on how to ventilate the room better, but their response was that any respiratory issues are due to the Chloropicrin (similar to tear gas) agent that was used - it has a chemical half life of around 20 days depending on the temperature & amount of sunlight (in dark cool spaces chloropicrin can last longer. Even still, we had this fumigation Sept 8th, and it was relatively warm, but we don't get sunlight in most of our building, so this could have been less favorable for me). 5) What can you do, in the event that you have symptoms post fumigation? At the first sign of fumigation, you must contact PTS. Don't contact your landlord, or poison control, call someone at PTS directly, or have someone call on your behalf if you're unable to. At any sign of light headed-ness, dizziness, shortness of breath, tightening of chest, call them (don't email or text). Contact PTS right away, and get another place to stay for the night to reduce any other risk of exposure. Have PTS come out and re-test the levels of Vikane and Chloropicrin, tests near vents and areas that might have trapped chemicals. Keep a log of your symptoms, and log your communication in written form with PTS staff. This entire experience, lasted 30 days, from pre-fumigation prep, staying at my parent's place for 2 weeks, until eventually returning to my apartment. Thankfully, Andrew from PTS came into the picture and brought an honest and empathetic perspective to my incident. He helped me feel safer at my apartment, and spoke with the utmost respect. You should definitely request to get in contact with him if you're having any concerns or worries, pre/post fumigation. read more

Sloppy. Careless and this is how we do it. Ryan, inspector and sales, was helpful and patient, for he was available to answer most of my questions. Things unraveled after that. 1-I had set the date for a Tuesday, changed for an earlier date and was given a Friday, which meant I would be out of the house for 3 nights not two. I was not informed about the extra night. 2-Day one- Tenting. Crew shows up it's over 80 degrees and I noticed there is a 10-12 inch rip in the tarp. They glued the hole with tape! The tape/glue does not seal the hole. I mentioned this to 2 crew members, they are dismissive and leave without fixing the hole. I photograph and send images to office on Friday. Get the response that it's the weekend and 'we are closing at 5 pm', my problem is transferred to Andrew, service manager. I send a video that shows the tape flapping in the air! He has 'plans' and can't come the house to fix the problem, he sends no one else to fix this the next day. Gas is leaking out of tarp. Gasp! 3-Day two-He comes the next day and sends a crew to repair mid afternoon. The new crew stops by and repairs the rip and added more poison. I did not see this happen. 4-Day four-Tent is removed on Monday and the crew had turned on my tv so this was on for 4 days? Why? Was the crew watching tv? I had removed all the food from the refrigerator and they also decided to leave my fridge and freezer doors open and running for 4 days! They needed to unplug or leave it closed, there was no food. Such incompetence and carelessness, unbelievable. 5-I contacted PG and E about electrical usage, I was informed that usually I use 6.2 kilowatts a day, on those four days, spiked to 18.6. this is not a lot of money, however the wear and usage on my appliances is important and disregarded. Refrigerators are designed to turn on and off not run 24-7, this placed much strain on the compressor. They also broke a sprinkler head. 6-Andrew's solution is to give me an extra 2 years on the warranty. Really? What does that mean, basically nothing. What about my appliances? Sprinkler head? 7- I have zero faith that this job was properly done, mainly because the rip was repaired a day after, not while the original crew was there. Further, Andrew had plans that did not involve resolving company problems. His first crew failed to do the job properly even though I spoke to them before they left. Andrew dropped the ball, when he did not show up on Friday to fix the problem, on day one. Incompetence. It is now several weeks after the fumigation and now I am being swarmed with ants! I have spent the last 3 weeks fumigating all around my house. Laying out ant traps and ....OMG! What is happening?! No excuses. read more

Although I am not a client, he reached out to apologize for our experience and to listen to my concerns and suggestions about what would have made the experience better. I believe he took in the feedback and will address the issue. Jim showed that good customer service is in a time when a lot of business do not do that. I'm not sure why I'm giving this business two stars instead of one star. Maybe because the scheduling was smooth, and the technician showed up. After that, no thanks. First of all, the technician called 1.5 hours ahead of the appointment time to let me know he was on his way. I needed to meet him at the property, so I wasn't able to get there in time. He met with the tenant instead, and she confirmed my impression that he was patronizing and cursory. We had already identified one area of concern. He looked at that, confirmed it was an infestation, and declined to inspect the rest of the property. Instead, he provided an estimate for a treatment and a second (higher) estimate for a treatment with a warranty. He ensured me that this treatment would take care of the issue. Meanwhile another inspector (from Mighty Mite) who came in the afternoon found several other areas of infestation, which he clearly explained and demonstrated as infestations. Update: Spoke with one of their managers and they resolved the issue for me. 5 stars for their follow up and willingness to fix the issue. I'm glad that everything got sorted out in the end. When I wrote the initial review, I was very upset and might have been overly harsh. It was a hot Sunday and I was slogging under the sun clearing the soil on my own. Do take note that if the landscape changed during their initial consultation and tenting, you need to inform them about it so that they can send additional workers to assist with the setup work. And they made a mess of my stone landscape!!! I just paid over $7000 to do my landscape, putting on weed sheets and covering them with stones so that weeds don't grow. Now, when they came, besides using sandbags to weigh down the tarp, they put soil as well. When done, they pushed the soil over my stones, above the weed sheet. Now, weeds are gonna be sprouting above the sheets thru my stones come rainy season!! If they wanted to use soil, they could have separated my stones and not try to cover the soil by trying to pile on my stones above it. And when done, if they are too lazy to scope up the soil and put it back at its original location, just leave it and not mix it up and make a damn mess. I'm beyond upset at this. read more
