Meh. I stopped in here for breakfast as my hotels offering was dismal. I truly appreciate the Protein Bar is completely transparent about calories, carbs etc - it's super helpful if you need to watch what you're eating. That said, my food wasn't very good. I ordered a egg, cheese and bacon bowl which promised me eggs, cheddar and crispy turkey bacon. I received a bowl of flabby ham, unmelted cheese and barely warm eggs. It was absolutely as crappy as my dismal hotel breakfast but in this case I paid for it. No thanks, Protein Bar. read more

I have been to the Oak Brook Protein Bar many times - years ago and felt they had better options at that point. I was kind of disappointed in the options this go-around. However, it's near my office in the city and needed something quick with lots of protein hence stopping in at the Protein Bar! ;) Ultimately I asked the gentleman behind me what he would suggest I order as nothing was looking appetizing to me. TL:DR - A great spot to eat for those who are watching what they eat as they list out all the macros on the menu. The bar-ritos are a bit smaller than I was expecting, but the protein content makes it more filling than you think it would be. Ingredient combinations are restaurant quality as well as the flavor. All in all, great lunch spot. Not quite sure why I'm giving this place 4 stars, because there's nothing wrong with it at all, but it still isn't AMAZING to get 5 stars. One thing I love about protein bar is that they make it super easy to know exactly what you're eating. It lists all the macros which makes it a go to spot for the conscious eater. I will always lean towards the burrito and wrap forms more than the salads/bowls. That being said I ordered the spicy korean bar-rito and it was delicious. I put in my order online and asked for extra sauce on the side. When I got there, they had the online orders to the left of the register and mine was right there, no sauce though.... Not worth losing a star on it's own though. The burrito itself is much smaller than I imagined, but it was more filling than I thought it would be after I finished. I'm guessing that's due to all the protein in it. But the sauce in the burrito was the perfect amount of creamy and spicy, without drowning out the other flavors in the burrito. The steak was also super thick cut with great proportions compared to the quinoa and other toppings (see, it's not that hard people!). Throw in the pickled onions, and you have the makings of a great combination (creamy, savory, pickled, spicy). All in all, a great well put together burrito. read more

Good place for a healthy choice meal. Everything tasted fresh. I had the steak bowl and it had cauliflower rice vs the regular rice. Steak portion was good however it was a little dry and chewy. Too much radish made the other flavors a little bitter. Clean place and pretty quick service. read more

This has been my go-to place lately for an easy and healthy meal during work. The prices are decent and I love their rewards program. For every $88 you spend, you get $8 back. It's easy to spend when you want to try everything on the menu. Likes: -healthy options. Meats are hormone free. They do a lot of almond milk, quinoa, veggies, gluten free and vegan options. The food is tasty, hearty and filling. -easy from app-ordering. I've had lunch ordered and ready for pick up countless times so this saves me a lot of time which is very convenient. -love how their utensils are green friendly and are a plastic-alternative (not generic white plastic utensils). Dislikes" -I DO recommend their shakes. They have fun names and don't really have that overdone "whey" taste that a lot of protein shakes do. I do recommend ordering with lower ice because I've noticed a few of my shakes watered down lately. (minus one star). -I don't like how their app automatically reloads $25 and I think that's the minimum you can reload which adds up. I was told their app is run by a third party which is just an additional layer of time/people to contact. Overall it's a solid place for shakes and lunch! read more

Best of all, you're able to customize everything or create your own meal. Closed Friday night and weekends, so be sure to hit it up during the week. Healthy options for a person on the go! This location is right below the Kimpton Gray hotel and offers a nice place to grab a bite to eat before you head out. They have lots of options for oatmeal, breakfast bowls, and smoothies. This morning I ordered the pbj smoothie, which is one of the best smoothies macronutrient wise in my opinion. It was not too sweet and had a nice berry and peanut butter flavor. My only complaint is that I wish they offered different sizes for the smoothies- I would order a large size in that one if I could! I also like how you can order at a kiosk and then wait for the order to come out at the counter to the left. read more

I want to give a huge compliment to your two workers, Antoinette and Monte. I incorrectly ordered a premade green juice instead of a fresh smoothie. Antoinette directed me to the juice section to show me the juice and when I asked for something freshly made, she didn't hesitate to accommodate me. Monte made my juice immediately (although it was during lunch rush) and asked if I wanted to make any changes or add proteins to the juice, which I wasn't expecting since the order swap was more than enough for me. They did all of this with a bright attitude and smiles on their faces. I hope you recognize their exemplary service, they are both models to follow. I can't stand it when i feel like places are trying to save pennies by giving you less. Especially on items that have high margins. It's so obvious that they're doing it and makes for a terrible customer experience. I feel like soup is one of those items. I ordered a soup and when i got back to my office, found that the cup was only half full. So i got a half cup of soup? Nope, cause there was quinoa at the bottom! What?! Seriously?! He suggested I try the pbj smoothie and the mexicali bowl . Of course i got them because ive never been here so he was definitely held to high standards so I believed in his recommendation. So, I come in pretty regularly and I feel like the quality has gone down. I am a Mexicali Bowl fan and it seems like they are using power eggs, frozen kale and guacamole instead of fresh ingredients. I loved the bowl previously because the kale was crunchy, the eggs were hot and the avocado was just that a scoop of freshly cut avocado. I pass this place daily and thought I'd give it a try. I ordered online for a quicker pick up. When I picked up the food the place was empty at 11:40 AM so that was not a good sign. There were several workers in the back of the kitchen but I waited for them to stop talking and help another customer who arrived after me before being helped. I saw my order sitting on the counter and never having been here before I wondered it I was supposed to put it in the bags sitting next to my order. When the server finally came over I asked her and she rolled her eyes and snapped at me saying well I was going to put it in a bag for you but "here". I put the order in the bag and asked her her name, She said, "Destiny and flashed a fake smile". The chili I ordered was the exact same you get at Wendys so it was decent. The wrap I ordered (steak) was terrible. It was cold from waiting and the steak was tough and blan like it had been boiled. The entire experience was terrible and I would never go back.
