Burrito Beach is a local Chicago based fast casual tex-mex style spot that is akin to Moe's, Chipotle, etc...for those outside of Chicago. This particular Burrito Beach sits on the corner of St. Clair and Ohio and was a welcome site as we wandered around looking for a quick, affordable and tasty lunch. They offer all the classics from bowls, burritos (of course!), quesadillas and tacos. They have a few pre-built options, or you can build your own from protein to base to toppings and beyond. Unlike the larger chains, they offer a few more protein options, including specialty options like shrimp, beyond-beef and grass-fed beef. Toppings options are slightly limited in comparison, but they are of better quality. Also, they next leveled the queso game with their red chile queso...don't question it, just get it, whether for dipping or an add-on. The space was small, but set up well for line structure, seating, condiments, etc...Clean and in good shape as well. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall, definitely enjoyed the meal and would certainly swing back by. Solid 4.5 for me! read more

Many years ago, I stopped eating at most fast-food restaurants. But because of frequent visits to Northwestern Medicine, my husband and I have become fans of Burrito Beach--a California-style taco and burrito fast-food restaurant. Although it's fast, Burrito Beach doesn't taste like fast-food. The ingredients they use are fresh and flavorful. They have a variety of taco and burrito choices, and you can choose your own ingredient combination--and they have a wide selection including corn salsa and pickled onions. Our favorite thing to order is the two taco and soup combo. For less than $10, it's a bargain and comes with two large tacos and a soup that's prepared fresh behind the counter. Service is friendly and efficient, and even if there is a line during lunch, it moves fast. They have a customer loyalty program where you can build points to get a free entrée. If you have a sweet tooth, they have awesome soft serve ice cream creations. Burrito Beach is not your typical hospital food place--it's several steps above. I stopped in for a quick work lunch on National Beach Day for their $6 chicken or veggie BYO bowl promotion! Overall I enjoyed the flavors and loved the customization options. I came at 11:45 and there wasn't too much of a line, I was in and out pretty quick! There were plenty of open table if I had wanted to stay and eat in. This was my first time at Burrito Beach so I was taking a little more time to look at all the ingredients and options. I did feel a little rushed when choosing the final toppings and wish I had picked a few more. Portion size was just okay, I think it could've used a little more but was still enough to be satisfied and patch over the rest with an afternoon snack. This location is convenient to my office location and I appreciated that it was pretty chill and not too crowded, which can be tough to find in this area. I came to eat because i was going to a concert before and I haven't had this in a while they we're kind of busy when I went in but I didn't mind have to wait I was in no rush at all. The staff was nice. I think it's a great amount of food for the price that it is. I don't think they really raise their prices since I last have them I was able to sit down and eat my food in peace which I love. I love that they also have a vegan option. I've been going to the Streeterville Burrito Beach for the past few months, and it has quickly become one of my favorite lunch spots. The service is always friendly and welcoming, and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. I love that you can see them grilling the meat right in the restaurant--it really shows they prepare the food fresh instead of just reheating it. I stopped by here to do cheap carryout for my hotel instead of buying something there. I don't think I've ever eaten here, except maybe from a catered lunch. I saw Fish Tacos and had to go in! 3 for $10, was a nice bargain! I walked in and spoke to the nice guy behind the counter. I think I went the wrong way but no problem. I like how the food is visible as they make it, but since I did carryout I didn't watch any preparations. The place is bright and nicely lit, I'd maybe eat in if I am in the area next time. I chose not to get chips and guac but it is ON my list for next time. I did not eat the cod tacos right away, I stashed them in the fridge, but even eating them cold was tasty! My first time trying burrito beach was for their celebrity chef Collab in honor of their 30th anniversary! I had the chicken masala burrito by chef Margaret Pak from Thattu. I liked it so much I had it two times within a week! It was delicious, with a lot of deep complementary spices and sauces, and the burrito held up well. It's great that they donate a potion to a good cause. I enjoyed that they mixed the batch-cooked chicken with the masala sauce and the heated it up fresh on the grill to order. The service is what you can expect from a fast-casual restaurant except it's even simpler than Chipotle -- you can just order off the menu instead of having to make 10 different choices. The interior was really clean and is actually a really comfortable vibe inside. The matching orange chairs and barstools inside with the wood surfaces give a nice calm atmosphere to eat. There's also a ton of patio seating outside which is nice when it's warmer. Definitely looking forward to coming back for the next celebrity chef item in December/January, the bibimbap burrito! read more

My wife and I were visiting Lizzie at NW Hospital and stopped for a quick bite before visiting her. I was surprised to find vegan dishes, which I'm always open to trying. We both had the Avocado Tacos served with salsa and any other veggies you chose. We shared a side dish of rise and black beans. Ended up getting a burrito and burrito bowl. I ate the burrito bowl fresh and it was great. The baja chicken and shrimp were delicious. The red rice, corn, veggies, onions, jalepenos, and pickled onions all complemented the protein. The spicy salsa was slightly chunky but not as spicy as I expected. The burrito was eaten the next day and ended up being a disaster. Reheating it turned into a soggy tortilla (I take the blame) and the char grilled chicken was just not as good as the baja chicken. I also got chips and guac which were alright. Very similar to Chipotle with slightly different ingredients. Highly recommend if you want shrimp with your fast Mexican food. read more

I got the Baja chicken bowl from here through my corporate lunch ordering program, Fooda. It was an ok lunch but the bowl was pretty small, especially compared to chipotle/Qdoba. Basically I would eat one spoonful and already see the bottom of the bowl. Maybe with chips it would be a filling meal, but the bowl itself wasn't portioned enough to fill me up. My go to stop when I'm in O'Hare airport. Fast, generous portions, fast and friendly service. The burritos and quesadillas are always the perfect food for me when I'm grabbing something for my flight. Meats are decently seasoned and when I was a meat eater I'd always get the pork or spicy chicken. Now a days I get the bean burrito. It's big and hearty. The flavor isn't over the top so I spruce it up with their guacamole and their spicy salsa and it's decent. I tried a Burrito Beach burrito when I was at O'hare Airport. This spot had the longest line of all the food options, so I knew if was worth a try. I decided to go with the black beans and goat cheese burrito, which comes with veggies. Service was fast, and I love how they toast your burrito. This spot has an ambiance similar to Chipotle, but beachier vibes. You get to choose your toppings and sauces. They put in a lot of filling, so you definitely leave with a pretty decently sized burrito. I just wish they had spicier sauce selections. My burrito didn't have as much hot sauce as I wanted it to have. My only other complaint is the fact that they charge extra for guacamole, even if you're doing one of the vegetarian burritos. But overall, I think this place worth a shot if you're looking for decently priced and filling food at the Chicago airport. read more

I ordered lunch today from Burrito Beach, and it was Awful. I am not a picky eater whatsoever. I ordered a chicken burrito, and chips with Queso, and a side of large guacamole. The Chicken burrito was inedible. The taste was fine, but they must not use chicken breast, because out of my 4 bites i took out of the burrito, 3 either had a bone in it, or fatty gristle. The chips were stale, and the guacamole that I was charged 5 dollars for was in a cup the size of a shot glass. It was brown, and did not taste fresh. The queso had zero flavor, but some spice. Flavor, and spice don't work together. You need both to make it work. It was like thick, spicy water. They sent me a few salsas. The red way okay, but I spit out the green. It was rancid. It tasted like garbage smells. I will never order from here again. read more
