He rolled his eyes several times while taking our order, when our friend asked for cocktail recommendations he told him "I don't know we're a beer place" in an extremely condensing tone, and never came to check on us after bringing our drinks so we had to get food on the way back home. I hate to damn a business because of their employee but as someone who's been a server, I would never treat a customer like that. Easy reservation system to ensure a table this past Sunday. I was expecting more of a beer hall, but this spot is fairly small by comparison. In the warmer months, they have a nice constructed area on the sidewalk for outdoor dining/drinking. A solid list of a dozen or so German draft beers, plus some mimosas. Just the brunch menu during our visit, but lots of yummy options. I had the Bavarian Hash which was a good portion and delicious. A couple pieces of toast would have been even better, but that's how I roll :) 1/2 liters will cost you $9-$10, so not an inexpensive brunch. I went during the first trivia night, which, despite having some hiccups was a lot of fun. The restaurant's walls are adorned with "German-esque" banners and coats of arms decoration: cozy and inviting like a pub. The server was very friendly and ensured my table had everything we needed. My complaint with the venue, however, was that the AC wasn't on and with so many people, even with the door open, it grew very warm. Secondly, the pretzel was not very flavorful even with the cheese and mustard. For only a dollar more, I'd recommend Bronson Beer Hall's Pretzel: it's better tasting and a bigger portion. At the server's suggestion, I got the breakfast bialy sandwich. It was quite filling and the price was right. My friend got Prost benedict. I can't remember what drink he got but I got the Wake me up--the server really hyped it up and said that they make their own whipped cream but then they ran out of the whipped cream. Came for brunch with some friends. It was the only place we could get a last minute reservation for. Food is pretty good, not bad but also not the best food I've had around DC. We got Benedict, hash, deutsch baby and a pretzel. No complaints on any of the food but again, not dying to come back for any of it either. Place itself is very pub like. We had an awesome brunch experience here and I hope to come back! We had a socially distanced, outdoor, contact-less brunch and enjoyed everything from our bottomless mimosas to the food! Maybe I'm just not really a fan of German food. This is my 3rd German restaurant that I've tried, maybe German food just isn't for me. The franziskaner hefe weissbier was 1st - beef and veal slider, it was ok. It's like if you mixed Vienna sausage and spam together and add a bun some mustard and pickles. Since I like spam and Vienna sausage, I say it was ok 2nd - bratwurst, is it supposed to be that salty? One bite was enough really for me. It was super salty. Costco's pineapple and beef sausage was a lot better. 3rd - short rib spaetzl, short rib delish! Had a sweetness to it, made me think that it was marinated in some type of red wine marinade like a Chianti or something. Spaetzl noodles, Um, I prefer pasta more. The marinated yams were really overly boiled, felt like I was eating baby food. Overall, the short rib was definitely good. 4th - almond cake with white chocolate sauce, warm, soft, but with a nice slight crunch on the outside. Great bake. This white chocolate almond mousse is heavenly! Not too sweet but just enough to cleanse the palette. I would've never known that that was white chocolate, tasted more like vanilla bean. This is going to be a mixed review. Let me start off by saying that this place has a really fun vibe. The staff was very friendly. And, the number of great German beer selections on tap was a nice surprise. Continuing with beer, they have a flight option call "Ein Meter Bitte" which gives you a sampling of 10 of the beers on tap. A fun way to go, but I suggest sharing! On to the food (and this is where is gets a little ugly). I was quite disappointed, especially after I prepared my palate with amazing beers. The down hill slide first started with the Pommes Frites. These shoestring fries tasted like they were previously frozen. Really??? Is this what you want to serve your guests? Not some fresh cut fries? On to the Leberkase Sliders ... This was OK. The pretzel buns where a bit charred. Last was the Prost Platter. The good parts ... the sauerkraut, gherkins, and cheese. The not so good ... the sausage which was very bland and needed the mustard for flavor. And the in between ... the pretzel. The flavor was there. Really good. But it was oddly formed, some thin areas and some thick, where it seems like something went wrong in the process. I am willing to come back for the beer, but am not sure about the food. read more

Our first restaurant while on vacation in DC. The first thing one noticed when walking here is how much people prefer to eat outside. Which, given the nice weather, is understandable. But, because I live in Florida and humidity still exists, I prefer indoors. The place is nice and open. Literally it seems the only walls were around the restaurant and the kitchen. It's a very laid back place and full of easy-going staff. They came up with cups of water and then asked what we wanted after a bit. My son ordered the sampler which included a brat, two types of kraut, a pretzel and cheese cubes. Truly everything a growing boy needs. I got the Prost burger which is like the name implies. Double patty with a nice sauce to it. It was messy but good! My son saved room for an Apple Strudel Mug. He ate it all up quickly. I was surprised I was able to capture a pic. The two strange parts I found were that: 1. There didn't seem to be only one waitperson dedicated to certain tables. Everyone was there to help. 2. That they didn't take any drink orders without me asking. $45 for the whole meal is a wee bit pricy, but it's to be expected around here. read more

Prost was a great low-key German place I recently found out about in the Mount Vernon area. There's ample outdoor seating and pretty great service! I ordered the wurst and my boyfriend got the chicken schnitzel. I tried both and the schnitzel was a great option. It was a little large and intimidating, but the flavors are great and it's a solid, filling sandwich. Both came with copious amounts of fries as well! The wurst was also good, but the schnitzel had a slightly better flavor profile. The have a pretty decent cocktail list if you're not into beer. Great place and love the concept, not a lot of German style beer houses in the area so this is a great addition. Iv'e been here for brunch a few times now and I'm a big fan of their bottomless options, not only serving mimosas but also beer or Bloody Mary. Both the breakfast burger and omelette are delicious, and I'm looking forward to making my way down the rest of the menu. The pretzel bun for the burger and potato pancakes with the omelette is a different take on the usual brunch items, and it adds a bit of flare to the meal. One of the coolest parts is the bandolier of underberg, a German digestive, that honestly tastes like drinking the sap out of a pine tree, but actually cures stomach issues. Large outdoor patio that opens at 10am on weekends which is great for those of us with small kids who like to eat an ungodly early lunch! Friendly service and our server offered to split our check at the beginning of our meal which was a nice touch. A good selection of beers and a good Bloody Mary, though the food was just so-so (bratwurst sandwich with French fries, and the pulled pork benedict which was fairly dry and not very flavorful). This was a great experience! You walk in and the decor is simple, clean, but uniquely German which is a nice presentation. All in all a good atmosphere not too loud, quiet enough music to hear your party but not so quiet you can't enjoy. The service was great! Our waitress was attentive, quick, and always kept an eye to make sure if we needed anything she could be right there. Everyone was polite and plesant and it was a wonderful experience! Little side note, while we were there the Soundtrack was all 90's and 2000's music, being a Milinneal I loved this! Finally the food. We went for a brunch and everything was spectacular. We had a... variety, of foods. My fiance got the breakfast sandwich, I got their Benedict and our friend got the Deutsch Baby. Everyone was thrilled with their meals, it was overall excellent with the unique touch of schnitzel to replace the ham in the eggs Benedict. All in all this was spectacular! So why the 4/5 if you're so happy? Well, it was a bit cold in the restaurant, and there were a few atmospheric things that were confusing but didn't detract so substantially that you couldn't enjoy. Stumbled across this spot after leaving dinner on K street. Had a great vibe to it so we stopped in. German Biergarten feel. We had already eaten so we were just looking to grab a couple of drinks. Not worth it for groups of over 6 people, not a true beer garden, not friendly. Also witnessed a micro aggression on part of the staff (at the end) Let's start with the good: the space itself is good and accommodating for large groups to sit together. You would think.... As it's a beer garden we I had a fairly large group of people trying to celebrate a friend coming back. The waiter told us he was unable to split the checks despite being warned a head of time. No problem, some of us decided to order straight from the bar in order to ease the burden on the large very expensive check. Bar tender filled out first order, and then refused as we were sitting outside and needed to order from the waiter. When we explained that we can't order from the waiter as there are no separate checks, the bartender still refused. When we asked to then close our tabs at the bar, one person in the party asked for a beer before closing his tab. A person of color back bar person began making the drinks and the white bartender SNAPPED and told the PoC to stop, angrily! My group was HORRIFIED. The white bartender began to berate the PoC in front of a group of people saying it was unacceptable that he was filling our order since we were sitting outside (despite having open tabs at the bar). It was horrifying to watch in 2022. Won't be back... hope the back bar person is okay.... read more

The service is amazing! All of the servers are super kind, super attentive, and super speedy. Despite only two servers being on duty, they managed the large flow of people with ease and professionalism. There's a pretty good selection of German-style beers and a full service bar with a variety of craft cocktails. I enjoyed all of my beers, they were the perfect refresher on a warm breezy night. There's a good amount of outdoor seating but definitely make a reservation with the understanding that outside is first come first serve. The food is just okay. The fries are especially a let down. Think McDonald's style fries but more bland. The chicken schnitzel sandwich wasn't bad and the pretzel bun it's served on is great but overall the food is average pub food.
