Told the owner I would have around 30 boxes and his words were "if you want a company that will give you a flat rate and stick with it, that's us." Not only was I charged almost double the quote, but they broke a $250 industrial lamp, my safe was tempered with and permanently locked me out, scratches on dressers, computer monitor, a small lamp didn't work again, handle gone from vacuum (can't make this up), my office chair somehow cracked and not useable AND they must have put the bed frame back together in 30 seconds bc half the bolts and screws weren't even in halfway. In addition, when I spoke to owner regarding my 6 foot floor mirror, a piece I really loved and valued, and was clearly forgotten by the movers,, the owner said any additional times not moved day of isn't in contract. I definitely stated that mirror needed to be moved.. as did everything in my apartment. I am beyond the point of frustrated and am just sad this man used me, took my money, had no remorse and then gets away with it. Unless you want to pay double the quote, lose $1,500 in broken, damaged or left property, to then be told the next day they aren't going to refund me for floor lamp and damaged property , nor move the item their movers forgot, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I've moved myself and also hired all sorts of movers and labor 7 times in the last 10 years. I don't recommend sweet home movers. They showed up with the smallest truck I've seen. We had a Pods load of furniture and boxes in a garage. They backed into the driveway. They didn't need to carry things up and down stairs or take things apart. They moved SO SLOW. They couldn't fit everything in their truck. It took 2.5 hours just to load that into their truck. I think they were taking extra long to puzzle as much into their small truck as possible. Their English wasn't great so they couldn't read the labels on the boxes. They took an extra 3 hours more than expected and you bet they charged us for it. In the end my husband and I and our parents did about a third of the loading and unloading. And spent $300 more than we thought we would. The guys were nice and were able to handle a tricky move of a large wine fridge into the basement. That's basically all the nice things I can say about them.

More on the company though; they were superior in customer service, physical capable of carrying anything no matter how heavy, big, or weirdly shaped, they will get it done. No issues with the service there. However, after unpacking, my TV screen was cracked. I submitted a damage claim form as directed by their customer care department. After a few days the responded with a denial of my claim. It was disappointing that they would not accept responsibility for the damage and insinuated that I was the one who damaged the TV, or at the very least, because I did not see the damage before they left (or in their words) "there were no damages reported during the move", that they would not assume responsibility. Looks like I'll be visiting a rage room soon with my broken TV.

So next time I'll skip the middle man and contact InDemand. The guys drove all the way up here from Chicago. Wrapped our furniture very well. Loaded the truck and were on their way to our new home. Our stuff arrived the next with no damage. I would recommend InDemand and recommendi asking for Jose and Ben - great guys! Costs: I have seen some other low rating reviews posted and I'm not sure if they went through Budget or directly through InDemand. It seems they didn't have a clear understanding of the process. I don't know that it's complicated, but I could see payment being confusing - also if communication wasn't clear. For us both Budget and InDemand were clear about the costs. You sign a Non-Binding contract - meaning the price can/will change. Cost is weight based. So if you underestimate how much stuff you have, what you think you will pay will be different. Once it's weighed the price can definitely go up. Be smart and overestimate. You are charged per pound. I added to my inventory estimate a week before the move and as expected the price went up. More stuff = More Money. We were given a ticket from a certified weight station for the weight of the truck empty and another one at delivery showing the total weight of the truck full. The overestimate worked for us. By overestimating, the final total was close to we expected. We actually owed them $30 less. Win! Going through Budget our costs were broken down into 3 installments. 1st to reserve the date (Credit Card), 2nd for pick up (Credit Card + 3% to use CC, Cash, Money Order) and 3rd for delivery (Cash or Money Order) It was made clear to us that at delivery we could only pay cash or money order. Both Budget and InDemand knew the total cost of the move, and they both have an inventory list. If they trust their guys with the cash/m.o. payment that works for me. They were also cheaper than all the other companies. Day of, they came in prompt and wasted no time. I booked them for 2.5 hour min and had them move me out of my studio. I was out in an hour, which includes them breaking down my bed. They set up my bed and also unloaded everything in about 2hrs. They were not like cheap cheap ($500) but they were cheaper comparably by a couple bucks and were beyond professional, nice, and just really amazing. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Despite paying for a full packing and white-glove moving service, multiple valuable belongings were damaged while in the company's care, including a 65-inch TV, a 55-inch TV, my mattress, a marble side table, a patio chair, and a rug. One of the most concerning examples is my mattress, which was delivered folded in half. I have included a photo showing its condition upon delivery. The white-glove service was also not completed as promised. The movers disassembled my bed but did not reassemble it upon delivery, even though reassembly was included in the service I purchased. I had to hire and pay a TaskRabbit professional to assemble it myself. I have been working with the company on my damage claim since July 20. They have received photographs and videos documenting everything. The company is relying on the $0.60-per-pound valuation provision in the contract. I understand that provision is included in the agreement, but given the number of items damaged while in their care, I find the outcome extremely disappointing. Their Claims Department initially offered $124, then increased it to $275, and their final offer is now $325. After paying $8,100 for the move and dealing with multiple damaged belongings and incomplete white-glove service, I do not consider $325 a reasonable resolution. I gave the company more than a month to resolve this directly and in good faith. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with how the claim has been handled and would not use this company again or recommend them to others.
