The happy hour was a great deal. We got $10 drinks and the apps were half priced as well as the pastas had half portions for $12. The risotto was amazing but the bolognese was too Al dente and we had to send it back and it was still not the best. The ambiance and service was amazing and understanding. Would definitely come back.

My friends and I tried Prosecco for Chicago restaurant week on a Friday night and it was an amazing experience. We had reservation for a big party and were seated immediately once we arrived. We ordered bread service for the table and 2 bottles of red and white wine to get started. All of us chose the restaurant week menu. For apps we had the tomato soup or arugula salad. Both were absolutely amazing! For main course, we had Risotto and Norcina (without meat) the sauces were so rich and creamy, relished every bite. For deserts, the table ordered limoncello, strawberry sorbet and tiramisu. Tiramisu was not on the menu but our server was very kind to offer it. The hospitality of this place was top notch. We had a good dinner experience overall!

My friends and I visited this place during Restaurant Week and had a reservation. We started with the bread service, which was ordered separately and not included in the Restaurant Week menu. We all chose the Restaurant Week option. For the primi, I picked the arugula salad, and for the secondi, I ordered the norcini. I really appreciated that they customized the norcini for me without any meat. For dessert, I had the strawberry sorbet. The portion sizes were filling and felt like a complete meal. We also ordered a couple of wines to pair with the food. We were a group of six and were seated in a separate area, which was nice. Overall, a great experience and a place I'd visit again.

My husband joined me for happy hour at Prosecco. They have an amazing happy hour at the bar only, their cocktails are great, but the hi-light is their half priced pastas! Their drink options are limited, but I love their LECHE MARTINI, shaken and cold each time, and my husband enjoys the OLD FASHIONED. Their food items are so unique- the LUMACHE has escargot, pancetta and benchmael. You have to order some extra bread to enjoy the sauce. The stuffed dates are so large and tasty. My favorite, pasta is their special TARTUFATE truffles, mushroom, and sun dried tomatoes. My husband loves CALEBRESE, so light and refreshing, with mint and shrimp. We enjoyed some house made limoncello at the end. James, Aurora and Taylor provide amazing service!

We reserved prosecco as a carb load dinner the night before the marathon and it did not disappoint. The dimly lit restaurant was beautiful and conveniently located near our hotel. While the dinner portion for the risotto was generous, the carbonara was quite small. I would recommend against getting the appetizer portions unless you plan to get several different dishes.

The food was amazing. Everything smelled wonderful. The place is definitely set up as a classy date spot. If you look closely in the back room it also looks like an escape room The staff was extremely helpful and personable. We had to make a few special requests and sent back one item because we had a pregnant person in our party and they were so helpful about it! I will definitely go back there next time I'm in Chicago.

Food-wise this place felt pretty overpriced and underwhelming. Vibe-wise/service-wise very much your typical overpriced Italian joint in River North. The dish I ordered felt like it had very small portions and didn't satisfy me fully, they also don't provide that much seafood in the dish and it didn't feel seasoned that well. That being said, dimly lit vibes and the service was very good--much of what'd you expect at a typical restaurant in the area. Still overall disappointed with the food quality for the price you pay.

Best experience in Chicago! We started out with wine and espresso martini (favorite one I've ever had), then followed up with bread and Caesar salad. For our meals we had the Fettucine al Granchi and Risotto Manzo. Both were delicious, but the Fettucine al Granchi is top 5 best dishes I've ever had! We then finished with Riaotto Cheesecake and Tiramisu. Really enjoyed our de hike experience! We were so hungry, forgot to take pictures!

After attending the River North street festival for the afternoon, a nice meal seemed to be a good idea, however since I wasn't dressed up like I normally do for dinner, I was judged at the door, shoved into a small dark corner table and given a terrible server! Three separate times he tried to push alcohol bevvies on me when I told him I was not drinking. Give it a rest dude. I understand this is where the money is made but a no is no! When I said I only wanted a small plate he was really rude about it as if to say why waste his time and the worst was when refilling my water glass, he touched the lip of the pitcher to my glass each time! Uhmmm did a global pandemic not teach this dude anything? SMH. My pasta was crunchy (not el dente) and when I asked where the panceta was, he told me it was in the sauce base not pieces of it. Actually that is so untrue because I have had this before here and there are supposed to be actual pieces of meat in the pasta dish. He tried to tell me it was cooked the way of the Italians... well here's the kicker: I AM ITALIAN and crunchy hard rigatoni is not a thing! Not anywhere but in his imagination. There was not any offer to remake it with more cooked rigatoni, instead Raul (yes management deserves to know his name) just dropped off the check and stopped coming to the table. I ended up paying at the bar totally annoyed by the whole experience. Absolutely abhorrent for an establishment to allow this to any patron. Ambiance is definitely upscale but it is no excuse if you choose to be open during a street festival to treat anyone this way. Just appauling!

Went here as a quick option before going to a rooftop bar and it was easy to snag a reservation here. It seems like the kind of place not many people know about given its underrated vibe. Overall the food was enjoyable! I'd say the standout of our meal was the carpaccio. A bit bummed that you have to pay extra for bread service and overall it wasn't worth it. The seafood risotto was good as well, but very filling. Pretty good meal, decent service, but I can't say I'd come back for a second time given there are so many other standout restaurants in the area.

I'm torn between giving 3 and 4 stars for this restaurant. The food was delicious and it's nice to have the option of 1/2 vs full portion. Highly recommend the burrata appetizer. I wasn't impressed with the service, many people came to our table to bring food/get our order and it took a really long time to get our check even though the restaurant didn't seem that busy.

Had a great dinner here last night with a group of work colleagues. Just about every plate of food that landed on our table was absolutely devoured with great delight. The appetizers got us off to a very strong start. We ordered the meatball, which was fantastic nice and tender with a wonderful sauce on top of it. The sausage and peppers which was again a phenomenal dish in the sauce that came with the sausage and peppers was so good. They were dipping our bread into it just to get a couple of extra tastes of sauce. The star of the show was the stuffed. This is one of the best bites of food. I've had in a long, long time a wonderful sweet date stuffed with Italian sausage and wrapped in bacon. It was a perfect combination of sweet and salty. just a fantastic fantastic dish. Because we went on appetizers, most of our group went with salads for entrées. Those all looked fine although a salad is an entrée isn't that and spurring to me. I did get the Bolognese as well and I thought it was really good. The sauce was nice and flavorful plenty of meat if anything, the pasta might have been slightly undercooked, but Was not big enough an issue to bring down the rating of the restaurant overall. On top of the great food, the service is wonderful as well, constantly stopping by the table to make sure we are enjoying our food and checking to see if there's anything else we needed which because of their diligent attention to our table that rarely was the case.

Spectacular ambiance, delicious Italian food, and a great time! We went to celebrate a friend's birthday, which I specified in my reservation. They brought out a surprise tiramisu, and the owner gave us a limoncello on the house. I had the bolognese with rigatoni, and wow, it left quite the impression on me. I would highly recommend it.

This is not the place for a quiet conversation. It may be one of the loudest restaurants I've visited in quite some time, and a nearby birthday celebration only added to the energy. That said, the atmosphere is part of the appeal. If you're looking for a fun, celebratory evening with friends or family, Gilt Bar delivers. I can't imagine choosing it for a business dinner. We started with the Tenderloin Steak Tartare and onion rings. Both were excellent. My daughter was craving the Bolognese, while I ordered the vodka rigatoni. The portions were generous, and both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. The truffle mafaldine appears to be the menu's most celebrated pasta and receives plenty of attention on Yelp, but we were very happy with our selections. Service was spot on throughout the evening. Food arrived with good pacing, drinks were refreshed promptly, and our server struck the right balance between attentive and intrusive. For dessert, we shared the gooey skillet cookie. Be warned: this thing arrives at the table with nuclear-level heat. The vanilla ice cream isn't just there for flavor, it's there for protection. One unusual observation: the floors seemed surprisingly slippery throughout the restaurant, something we noticed more than once. Our bill came to $159 before tip, which felt reasonable given the quality of the food, service, and overall experience. Between the lively atmosphere, strong food, excellent service, and vibrant bar scene, it's easy to understand why Gilt Bar has remained popular for more than 15 years

I also was able to order an amaretto sour, which they made with freshly hand beaten egg whites, which was a nice cherry on the top. As far as the whiskey flights go, I think the best one was the Vietnam flight because it had a slightly lemongrass twang and was a little bit lighter than the other two. The heaviest one was the Wisconsin which came with a little bit of a bite at the end, but it still wasn't bad if you're trying to blackout on a $15 budget. I would definitely come back with a larger group this seems like a great place, but is a little bit loud- so if you be prepared to yell or wear earplugs. The bathroom took my a second to find, which should have been intuitive considering it was on the opposite end of where you come in. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, which creates a cozy atmosphere but also presents a few challenges. We arrived a little early for our reservation and quickly realized there was really nowhere to wait inside. That wouldn't have been a big deal except our table wasn't ready at our reservation time because the previous diners were lingering. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes outside. I understand that reservation timing is more art than science, but it would have been nice if someone had at least acknowledged the delay or offered some small gesture while we waited. Once seated, service was mostly quite good. Our server's start was a little uneven--he stopped by but didn't initially take our drink order--but after that both he and the rest of the staff were attentive throughout the meal. The space itself is interesting. The open kitchen is enormous relative to the dining room. I found myself wondering whether they could have squeezed in a few more tables, though obviously the food coming out of that kitchen is the reason people are here. And the food was a mix of hits, misses and one absolute knockout. We started with the pâté en croûte, which had a bánh mì-inspired preparation. And just so you don't end up disappointed like Nigel: Don't expect a smooth, spreadable pâté. Instead, you'll got a chunkier, terrine-style version. I thought it was an interesting take. The escargot didn't do much for me. It arrived swimming in herb oil and I found it lacked flavor, though others at the table enjoyed it more than I did. We also tried the corn dog, a very fancy and elevated version of the summer fair staple. It was tasty, but surprisingly small. The standout dish of the night was the 10-day duck breast. Absolutely delicious and easily the best savory item we ordered. The calamari was less successful. There simply wasn't much calamari in the dish, making it difficult to share among the table. It felt like there were nearly as many potatoes as pieces of squid. The halibut, on the other hand, was quite good. The fries were fine--nothing special--but aggressively salty. Then dessert arrived: a raspberry-coated chocolate mousse that was one of the best desserts I've had in a very long time, possibly ever. It was the perfect ending. Pricing was another pleasant surprise. We landed at about $100 per person, which was actually a little less than expected. Overall, Obélix delivered some memorable dishes, especially the duck and that phenomenal dessert, along with a few frustrations around timing and pacing.

The stuffed mushrooms were also cute delicious! This is a rare time where the stuffing had spinach below the stuffing - excellent! I remember seeing (and enjoying) this while I visited Italy. Delightful! The main courses we ordered were the Gnocchi Bolognese, the Baked Burrata Lasagna and the Barolo Braised Short Rib. The Gnocchi meat sauce was the standout here, being very flavorful, but not as heavy as some other restaurants. The Gnocchi were dense - not fluffy as I had expected. But the sauce flavor was vivid. The Baked Burrata Lasagna was oh, so perfect! Many layers of al dente pasta separates with a tasty meat sauce. Many times I have had lasagna that was either over-baked, or had limp pasta. Here, the lasagna shined! So large of a serving that my wife could not finish it, much to her dismay . . . I had the Barolo Braised Short Rib - oh my living god! - so tender, so complete a dish, with the fork tender meat that melts in your mouth, complimented by a light polenta (I must emphasize the lightness here, as many restaurants serve polenta that is heavy and too rich. This did not compete with the short rib, rather it seamlessly became the foundation on which the richness of the meat was enhanced. I was blown away! But, the most amazing, and probably the most delectable part of the evening was finishing off with a luscious Chocolate Cake! OH, WOW!!! The cake was certainly moist and smooth. Yes, smooth! I could not tell there was cake at all, so smooth it was! And surprisingly (not surprising given the quality of this establishment) it wasn't too sweet, rather just enough to bring out the chocolatey goodness! I only wished that I ordered some hot coffee - the cake would have gone well with a great cup of coffee! Overall, I was very impressed with this restaurant! The old-town decor, the dim lights, the fantastic food (just like of the Italy of old!)- all contributing to a wonderful experience! Highly recommended!
