ive been to this little store a few times now, and ive had nothing but good experiences here. i honestly cant understand why it isnt rated higher. the owner and staff i've interacted with has always been kind and helpful, and is very knowledgeable of figure skating. you can tell the owner/skate tech is very experienced, and trained well in his craft. i wont ever go or trust anywhere else to have my skates worked on or blades sharpened! plus the pricing here is great, especially for the quality of service. psa, if youre a figure skater, stay away from icerink skate shops!! i ended up finding this place because i heard of many people saying their blades were sharpened improperly and destroyed there, so i stopped in for a sharpening here and was informed my blades were completely improperly mounted, AND i was skating in skates that were TWO sizes too big! im never going anywhere else, as long as this place is standing, i'll wont bring my business elsewhere! read more

I ordered a pair of skates and like many other reviews the skates were supposedly not available for order anymore (took them a week to let me know though ). Then they tried to offer me something more expensive I didn't want. After I said I just wanted a refund instead they informed me that I needed to send them an email requesting a refund from them for some dumb reason(why do I have to do extra stuff because they're incompetent ‍). Anyway, I played along and asked that they send me an email receipt of the situation saying they had cancelled my order. It was a CYA situation for me after reading so many shady reviews about this "business". Anyway, they replied telling me it was cancelled but it would take 7-10 business days for me to get my money refunded. I truly think that's all just a scam because I have never had a refund take that long (guessing they will hope you will just give up and they can keep your money‍). Anyway I got a step ahead a disputed the transaction with PayPal at business day 7 because I had enough. Moral to this story is this "company" plays games with your money and lies and then doesn't take responsibility for their own bs. I know they could have gotten the skates ordered because I ordered them from Atom skates and will be getting them delivered Tuesday from the same source. They had 8 in stock in my size available. They tied up my money for over a half a month. The lie that there wasn't any was all just an attempt to upsell me on something else I am a custom skate builder and spend a lot of money on skate parts and this was my first and last experience with discount skate. Went in to get my plates replaced on my skates for roller derby. They were understaffed and so I left. I ended up ordering online from them and having my new plates be delivered in store. They said they would happily replace them for me. Awesome, great- until they called me AFTER the service was done and said they were going to charge me a labor charge equating to what the plates costed me. Would have happily agreed to paying the labor cost if they would have quoted me BEFORE they did the service. So I ended up paying double what I originally thought this service would be. Disappointing Experience with Discount Skatewear I was initially happy to see a 10% discount offered before my purchase, but when I tried to apply it, the website wouldn't let me. I contacted their customer service, and they refused to honor the discount. Their customer service was very poor and unhelpful. I do not recommend this company to anyone. Pretty abysmal experience here and hope that they can really clean up their act, however, being that they don't have much other competition (except for maybe Amazon), don't hold your breath. I recommend you go somewhere else to get your skates. I enjoy rollerskating and wanted to purchase a pair as the weather is cooling off and it would be a fun way to spend weekends and get in some physical activity. My partner found this place for us to visit and initially, the visit here was ok. Emma was helpful in measuring my feet and then had me try on a few pairs in store that had my size. This first visit was hassle free and I paid for my skates with the anticipation that it would arrive to my place in 3- 4 days. However, once I went home, I realized that Emma didn't provide the invoice for me and I only had a receipt of the amount I paid for and nothing about the skates I ordered. And here is when things started to go downhill. The week passed and then on a weekend one week later, I called the store in the morning to get an update on my skates. Amanda answered initially and told me she didn't know what was happening with my skates and would have to get back to me. She didn't call me back, so towards closing time, I gave them another call back and this time, I spoke with Kelly. Kelly was able to find my invoice and emailed it to me. He told me that my skates were not in their warehouse and that they would have to call the manufacturer on Monday to see what the status was on my skates. I asked Kelly if he would call me back after he had the status on my skates and he let me know he could not do this as they are too busy in their store. On Monday, I called them back to ask about my skates and they told me it would arrive at their store later that week. On Thursday, I called them and finally after 2 weeks, they now had my skates in their store. And instead of having them delivered to my house, I opted to just pick them up. At this point, I didn't have much faith in them anymore. On Friday, I went in to pick up my skates, however, when I tried them on, they didn't seem to be the same kind of skates that I had tried on the first time. I really do not like skates that have thinner tongues as it makes the shoe pretty uncomfortable and it would dig into top part of my foot. Amanda helped me this time around and she was able to let me try on some other skates in their store in my size. I finally did settle on a pair of Jacksons, which has worked out well for me. Overall, I will say this experience was very frustrating for me and next time, I will avoid this place. My partner ordered a pair of skates online after I purchased here and got his skates before me. I think this type of business model really needs to be improved on. Not sure how they are still in business really. read more

I strongly suggest not ordering from this business for reasons that stack up. - delivery of item was far later than the website projected. No notification given. - repeated attempts to contact them were ignored (reached out via email and the chat box) as the size was too small. - abysmal return/exchange policy. Leaves customer on the hook for shipping and a 15% restocking fee. Will never order from this place again and hope others see this and it saves them the trouble. My complaint is very similar to the reviewer's below. Made an order and never heard back for over a month. Irresponsible and unresponsive. I would avoid ordering from them. There's been no word or update from them at all regarding the status. Each time I call they say it will be shipped in the next few days bc there are so many orders for them to ship out. I was very understanding at first given the situation is covid19, but if it's the same excuse for over a month, maybe they are not capable for their operation. Today I called again, and they said there never was the product when the order was made. Don't even know what to say at this point. Don't order from these people. There is no communication whatsoever, and you really need to be on top of it to call each week. If you forget about your order bc of long delay, they may just eat your money. UPDATE-- Dear Kelly, i assume you're the owner. it is one thing to be short staffed or have lack of resources to be unable to fulfill customers' orders you charge right away, which is disappointing. Please give me dates of your prior emails you're claiming to have sent to me, or from anyone from the company. Yes, I ordered white skates on black wheels. After many times of calling, a salesperson told me they have a pair of black on black wheels, and bc I was exhausted to wait, I told them to just send. I finally received the pair- wrong colors of black skates w green wheels. I don't like them and so they are just sitting in storage in the box, but I didn't contact you guys bc I didn't want to make any bigger deal, but now this. If you really looked into the records rather than to try a quick cover up w some bs that you have contacted me so many times via email and calls, you would have figured it out that a pair was sent to me. If you still believe you have contacted me so many times, send me the dates of the emails. If I can verify, I will delete this post. However, if you cannot provide any proof after reading this, you might want to be a bit more honest and straight forward with your operations. I can't say enough good things about this shop. We moved here from Washington where most skate shops sell hockey gear with a small corner for figure skating stuff, and the staff really aren't all that knowledgeable about figure skate fitting. So it's a pleasant change to have a shop solely dedicated to figure skating (yes, they do roller skates, too). Kelly is excellent. He takes the time to ensure the right skates, and has helped with adjusting fit as needed. My daughter has struggled with arch pain for years and it took coming to this shop for someone to finally point out that her foot position in the boot was wrong. He made her custom insoles right there and then and we are good to go. She can't wait to get back on the ice and try them out! This is an excellent shop for figure skaters, they have everything you need, and are very friendly and helpful. read more

I wasn't going to post this review here, but the store owner is doubling-down on his stance, claiming 'we just want to fight' and that doesn't sit right with me. All of the negative reviews you've seen are right. Just don't order from here. Shady business practices and a lot of dishonesty. There's a common thread in all the one star reviews - they advertise items on their website that they don't have in stock, then ghost you after you pay. My daughter has been off ice for over 3 weeks because she grew out of her skates and no one had them. My daughter is on the spectrum. Figure skating isn't just a part of her life, it's her way of regulating her emotions. I've been struggling to get her boots but I finally have. The blades have been an equal struggle. I contacted discount skatewear because I had previous experiences with them. They responded quickly to let me know that they had the blades I needed and I immediately ordered them. But now I can't get any information from them whatsoever- not a status update, not a 'we're running behind, we apologize'. Also blades come in an already shippable box. All you have to do is tape them up, stick an address label on them, and then stick them in the mail. But I've been ghosted. Now I'm trying to get a refund so I can order from another company. The heartbreaking part is that I explained via email that my daughter is struggling being off the ice and please let me know at least when those blades will be shipped. And still I've heard nothing. I understand that people get busy and maybe they couldn't go out right away. It's the ghosting after dropping $300 that gets me. EDIT*** I just got off the phone with a gentleman regarding my order and I am never ordering from them again. He claims the item was shipped on the 20th. That's great, but why have they been radio silent since we ordered it? They never sent us a tracking number and never responded to emails. They shipped it UPS. The label was made on the 20th, it was physically shipped on the 22nd, but it's not arriving till the 27th?! And at no time could someone drop us an email and let us know? This isn't how you run a business. Oh, and we emailed them to be sure they had the blades in hand ready to ship, which we assumed would come from their AZ location, just a hop away from us. but it's coming from Rhode Island? Just bad business all around. After I posted this second review on Facebook, the man I spoke to doubled-down, saying that they 'find products that consumers are not able to find on their own. We have products shipped direct to consumers from different distribution centers so products can be delivered as quickly as possible'. But my wife asked them specifically DO YOU HAVE THE ITEM ON HAND TO SHIP IMMEDIATELY. She didn't ask if they could locate this item. She didn't need help locating the item. She was doing that herself. She said 'do you have it on hand'. And they knew the difference because that's the reason they went radio silent. Because if they have the item, and could make a shipping label for it, they would have just sent us a tracking number and it wouldn't have been a thing. In the end, I have seen a lot of other people complain about this type of treatment. And because we've had good interactions with them in the past, we figured those were outliers. We were wrong. My daughter needs these blades. We were trusting them to get them to us. They just wanted another 300 bucks. That's what it looks like to us. And unfortunately an upfront seller who has the item in her hands ready to ship, which could be to us tomorrow, is on the back burner because of this store's dishonest business practices. They complained that they couldn't answer emails they received over the weekend, but we sent them emails on Thursday and Friday. That isn't over the weekend. That's during the business week. This other seller responded to us Sunday night, within two hours of our email. read more

Always friendly and a great resource for anyone just getting started with skating. They won't try to upsell just to make more money. They truly have the customer's best interest in mind and give honest recommendations. I purchased a starter pair of derby skates from them have been back several times to purchase accessories as well as a pair of skates for my husband. They also helped me change out wheels and bearings when I ran into trouble with an online order from one of their competitors. On Wednesday June 17, 2020 I placed an order on DISCOUNT SKATEWEAR / PROS EDGE SPORTS for figure skate boots/blades for $774.94. By Thursday morning June 18, 2020 I have called this store 5 times and have sent email requests to cancel this order immediately. I have called this company at least 5 times every day since. I have emailed multiple requests for cancellation. Today is June 22, 2020. I spoke with the owner and staff member who were both aggressive and rude. This issue was not new. Clearly they have scammed many in the past. Both staff were caught lying as one mentioned that the order was shipped out already. When asked for shipping information, completely FAILED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF SHIPMENT. (1st Red flag) One lying staff member mentioned it was still being built and assembled at an external facility. Also FAILED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF ASSEMBLY. (2nd Red flag) Both staff had ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY. After over 30 phone calls and numerous emails, you mean to tell me NO ONE WAS ABLE TO PICK UP THE PHONE OR ANSWER EMAILS?! (3rd Red flag) The female staff member proceeds to say how BUSY and understaffed they are. This is a YOU problem. Hire more staff, hello?! THIS IS NOT THE CUSTOMER'S PROBLEM. (4th Red Flag) FIRST LESSON IN BUSINESS SCHOOL: Your JOB is to FIND A SOLUTION for your customer and NOT BE THE PROBLEM. My experience of you both was AMATEUR, DEFENSIVE and ENTITLED. Don't trust Discount Skatewear!!! I would give them zero stars if I could!! I ordered back a set of Pic Frames on March 23rd when the ice rinks around the country started closing. The frames were selling out everywhere FAST. They charged me immediately, so I thought I had lucked out. After no tracking number for several days, I reached out to the shop. They said the frames were on order and that they would be in the following week. I followed up the next week... still not in. I decided to be patient, as the frames were by now impossible to find. I waited yet another week. When I still hadn't heard anything, I called and this time had to leave a message. Thank had been getting the owner on the phone up to this point. Two weeks, five messages and 2 emails later with NO RESPONSE from Discount Skatewear, I finally asked for a refund... They still never responded. I finally had to go through my credit card to reverse the charges. To this day, I've heard nothing from them. They are charging for merchandise they don't have and then not responding when you ask for updates. Facebook online skating groups are FULL of similar horror stories (you can check for yourself.) I believe they are using the money from orders they can't fill to float their store during the pandemic. T aren't reputable. *update: on June 22nd, I received an email informing me that they had cancelled my order from MARCH 23rd!! That's right, folks. THREE months after they charged me for an item they didn't have and couldn't get, they FINALLY cancelled my order. Thankfully, I had already been refunded by CC company after filing a report. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE! What a nightmare dealing with this company. It started with an order for plates for quad skates that did not fit the shoe after I used their sizing chart and their reply was "we have had a problem with this plate being off in size". An important item that could have been mentioned when ordering the plate. So I contacted them to do an exchange. I was told that I had to order another plate before I could exchange/return the incorrect one. So I order another one but they send it to someone else and send me their order. I contact them but whomever handles returns is on vacation and I guess no one else can handle that task so they make me wait. Again. For almost two weeks. When they respond I was told that they would send a return label for the plates that do not fit to send back to them and a label for someone in California to get the wheels that were mistakenly sent to me. In the meantime I started a new job as a scenic painter on a movie set and I am working 70 hour weeks, 100 miles from my house. Sending me labels means that I am looking in my mailbox but after 2 more weeks and constant communication they inform me that they emailed them. They were to going to junk mail that I never look at and I did not have a printer. But they did not ask and I live 25 miles from the nearest place to print. When I do get a label printed I left the wheels at home and did not get off from work until 16 days later! While I did communicate with them every single time, do not want the ugly wheels that were sent to me and do not need free merchandise they decided to be tools and created a fake order for their mistake, went back months to when I did order the original plate and charged my credit card! They accused ME of being dishonest and stealing! Deplorable vompany! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! There are so many roller skate supply sites that I have dealt with for years with no problem so buy from those places and not Discount Skate Wear or Pro Edge Sports. read more

We are new in town. My daughter needed new skates. She had been having issues with her previous pair for awhile. Kelly took the time to listen to my explanation of her problems. He started with an anatomical evaluation and found she has begun to have a pronation issue, even though she has narrow foot the boots seemed too narrow on the forefoot. He added super feet insoles to the new boots and it seems she won't need these skates punched like her previous ones. Once fitted, heat molded he did another anatomical check in skating piston to nave sure the skates were fitting correctly and that she wasn't turning in at all. It took us 2 hrs to get skates which seems long but that's okay if they don't hurt her feet. Kelly took the time to be sure things were right. read more

Seems like going in store is better than ordering online. Ordered skates at the beginning of June. Tried to email for updates and finally in August I got ahold of someone and was informed the item I ordered wasn't in stock. They were going to try to make something for me from what they had in store but I asked to just have the order cancelled and refunded for now. Was told they would take care of it. That was 8-31 and i still have not received a cancellation notice or refund. I've called several times and messaged and can't get ahold of anyone so I'm assuming I'm just out of luck. Excellent customer service, and they are very knowledgeable about their products and skating in general. You can trust them to get you into the right pair of skates for you, and give you good advice on how to properly care for them. They also know how to properly sharpen skates, which is a plus. The first time they did mine, they asked me what ROH I want. I told them I wan't sure, and they offered a recommendation based on the type of skating I do and even which rink I skate at. Needed help selecting a pair of roller skates. I called ahead of time to see what their inventory looked like in the store. The gentleman I spoke to was very kind and patient with me as I have never skated before and didn't really know anything about the products. They walked me through the whole process and were very knowledgeable on the products and gave great descriptions for everything I had inquired about. Ended up coming into the store to get professionally sized and got a custom skate package since most of the artistic roller skates are out of stock due to COVID. They were able to work with my budget and do an entire custom build for me! They were very clear and upfront about how long it would take for my skates to be built and exactly two weeks later I was ready to roll on a perfect pair of skates that are amazing!! I would recommend pros edge/ discount skatewear to everyone looking for a a specialized roller/ ice skating store. read more

We drove 45 minutes to get to this store to buy my daughter some iceskates. We get there and they are closed. The sign on the door that losts their hoirs of operation says they should have been open.
