We usually go to the DSG at Scottsdale Fashion Square, but today we found ourselves in North Phoenix and decided to pop into this location instead. The first thing my daughter said when she entered the store was "wow, this is a nice Dick's!" I don't disagree! We found what we were looking for... a new net for our basketball hoop, and of course we found more than that too. We ended up purchasing not only the net but a new wiffle ball and bat, a new basketball, and some CLIF energy chew bloks. I'm sure I could have done a lot more damage, so this wasn't too bad! The staff were friendly and helpful and the store was organized. This DICK'S location is much easier to get in and out of with plenty of parking out front (vs. the mall location). Dicks is a big chain that I haven't shopped at much. This was my 2nd time at this location. I found a great pair of Timberland(one of my favorite brands)hiking shoes reduced on sale to $100 and in my perfect size. I also bought really nice Columbia(another favorite brand mine)cargo pants which are great for hiking with alot of pockets and very light weight and comfy for only $65. I also bought a mosquito head net for only $3.50. This store is large with a great selection of top brands. I subtract a star for below average value, as I did not see any bargains. However, I was happy to pay more for top quality brands. Recommended. read more

My son and I have been to this location many times and have never had any problems. Today we made a stop by here after his pitching lessons to look at some new bats. There was a specific one my son was looking for so we decided it would be best to ask for help. We were greeted by Andrew, who helped us locate the bat my son was interested in. Andrew asked us some good questions to make sure the bat choice was a good fit for my kiddo and the league he was playing for. After we got the bat figured out, my son had a couple questions about grips for his bat. He had a wood Bruce Bolt bat in the truck that he wanted to have a grip put on (because mom sucked at trying to apply a bat grip lol) so we asked if Andrew knew anywhere that puts grips on for you. Andrew had my son pick out the grip he wanted, and told him to go grab his wood bat from the truck. After purchasing the grip, Andrew was SO kind and applied the new grip to his wood bat in store. Stopped by Mayo location today in hopes of purchasing Hoka shoes. WHAT A JOKE! IF you can find a shoe department employee, they have to "scan" the shoe you want. Then supposedly another employee called a "runner" has to go look for it. I waited over 45 minutes only to be brought the WRONG style. The runner stated that the Hoka shoes are spread out throughout several stockroom? Most show as "no location found"! There has got to be a better system. There were several other shoppers who got tired of waiting and just walked out. Sad thing NO other employee cared about what I experienced. I will never shop Dicks for shoes ever again. Although I was disappointed that Dick's Sporting Goods could not warrant/replace my defective pair of Women's Hoka Bondi 8s that I purchased there, I do not fault them for the defective product. After only 2 months of wear, the tread peeled from the bottom of both shoes. I shipped them back to the factory for warranty replacement and after 2 weeks was denied because they "had gotten wet." Well, yes...I washed them. I have washed every pair of shoes I've ever owned, without them coming apart. The sales rep at Dick's even commented that another lady came in with the exact same peeling of the tread on a pair of Bondi 8s. Clearly, this was a manufacturing defect of that run and should have been warranted. Hoka enjoys too good of a reputation to treat customers this way. read more

However Dick's Sporting Goods are not the cheapest in price and sometimes I get pissed off because they advertise stuff and say, it is only at certain type stores. I absolutely hate when an employee refuses to look for stuff. I needed a specific 4 pack of balls. Online it says you have 3 in stock, Id imagine in the year 2024 you could use your store devices to see if you actually have them in stock or where they're located. I asked a man working by the balls who was super dismissive - He couldn't find them but found other ones that wouldn't work for what I needed, I said I'd keep looking thanks and he seemed offended that I wanted to find the 4 pack. There's a wide range of quality workout clothing and accessories. The sales staff are always around to help but never pushy. I've gotten some really great sales here especially around the holidays. Went to return a pair of golf shoes but they didn't have the size I needed in stock so I told them I will just buy them online instead of exchanging it in the store and the store associate kept insisting I return it here to get a gift card and use that gift card to buy the shoes again.. Was in the store in North Scottsdale for the second time. I was looking for a pair of either Nike or Adidas sneakers for a Christmas present. Ok, I get it, it's Christmas but it was Monday afternoon and the store wasn't really busy. Found a pair of gray Nike's, waited awhile until someone could help. Gave him the shoes, he checked his hand held and said they had them. Great ! He went to the stockroom to get them. Came back in a reasonable amount of time and gave me the box and off I went to the cashier in the front of the store. I opened the box on my way to the cash register and it was the WRONG color. I left the box on the nearest table and walked out of the store. This is the second bad experience at this store. Horrible customer service here. We came in and asked for a size 10.5 in 3 different shoes. The kid working in the shoe department was so bad at his job. He brought out a size 11 two different times for the shoes and asked if they would be okay. What?!? First of all, they have a handheld device that shows what sizes are in stock for each shoe. Why did you even go in the back room, unless your device that tracks sizes is off? In which case, why even waste your time scanning the item to check? Second, why would you think it's okay to try and push a shoe size that is clearly not correct onto your customer? We left after he pulled that on us twice. On top of that, prices were very expensive and the store was an absolute mess. I understand that it's right after Christmas, but pull your store together. And make sure that you actually have items in stock! They lost a sale or at least 100 dollars today and we likely won't be back again. I been to this location numerous of times and the staff are always friendly and helpful. They always go out of their way to help and assist you. There are a couple of names that I always look to help me with my purchases like Eli, Brad, Maddy or Ian. They are awesome and always treat me and my family with the upmost respect. Eli the manager has always been willing to go the extra mile and help us when my father comes in and asks thousands of questions about his bike and how to fix it because he'll rather fix it himself and Eli would actually give him a hands on tutorial. The first time I order something to be delivered it was stolen by delivery. (Not Dicks fault) however after hours of dealing with customer service I was told that half of my order would be shipped again ( I never received it) the other half was to be credited. Well I only received partial credit and had to call and get them to refund me my entire order which was a nightmare. Now I ordered yet another product for curbside which stated they had it. He said he was too busy dealing with schedule and Covid and that his employees mattered and did not care about customer service.
