Finally had a chance to check out Progress on Main last week and was blown away that our very own Valley Mall had such a cool spot with great staff and chill vibes. This spot is definitely a great addition to Main street. There's plenty of space + seating, staff is attentive and nice, and drinks are delicious! Omg i loved tonight. The place's mood was lit! There's a new bartender named Katie she was very cool, nice very amicable! Loved her energy! She is always smiling she serves good drinks! I had an IPA blood orange it was strong but tasty/yummy.! Theres I believe comedians on stage or was open mic night, cool entertainment. Very spacious, clean. I can't stand the fact that I'm at a bar and its hot and humid outside and you expect to walk into a place that has central air and it's Not on. It's been like this for weeks. I came 3 weeks ago same issue. So I'm guessing it's been like this all summer. Not okay! Treat your customers right. This establishment obviously doesn't care. Don't come here on a hot day. This is the best new bar in the SGV. I love that they do bottled cocktails to go and excellent frozen drinks, as well as fresh drinks on the spot. It's nice to not have to drive downtown anymore to get a drink with fresh citrus and fruits instead of sour mix and artificial flavorings. The drinks are stiff and the staff is friendly. I love playing music right from my phone on the touch tones app. TVs playing sports and they have a great food truck situation in the back. Felt very safe with their protocols. So we decided to come in and watch the Dodger game.Alexis and the staff were literally amazing!They had a great selection of cocktails and a food truck in the backyard patio. This place does not serve drinks to your table. You need to walk up to the bar to order your drinks to bring to your table. The drinks are mediocre. Overall not a big fan. Asked for two fruity shots which is not much to ask for if they know what they're doing, she gave us flavored vodka. I always liked coming to this place, but lately the service has been unfriendly KATIE the bartender that was there these past times me and my coworkers have gone and let me tell you she has NO MANNERS!! She ignores half the people and only serves who she wants, SHE IS THE DEFINITION OF A RUDE PERSON!!! I don't recommend a place like this, the other bartenders are great, and helpful. We had such a good time here I took 1 star iff because the parking was taken over by a festival and the streets were blocked... and took 1 star off fir the cocktail... we were denied some drinks that were clearly on the website and we saw it being served to someone else, so dont know what happened there. Also the food is different (whatever is out on the patio, i believe) and the cocktails we did try were not all great... they looked better than they tasted. It was karaoke night and it got loud and rowdy but in a good way. Might go back and just stick to the beer read more

My first time at Progress on Maine! The inside is a large space and they have a full bar ready for your cocktail needs. I tried one of their seasonal cocktails, the Adelita, their version of an old fashioned. It had bourbon, amaretto, canela syrup, and orange bitters. We also tried the café de olla martini... this ones a winner!! It's delicious and I'm not the type to order a martini, much less a coffee one! It was delicious. The base is a vanilla vodka. On the weekdays they have HAPPY HOUR 4-8 WED-SAT $6 seasonal cocktails and BOGO beer!! It's a really good deal. Given that they're at the downtown El Monte area, I'm really happy they have some accessible prices for the local community. I have heard from friends that the regular price cocktails are a bit high. The workers were friendly when ordering, but it was hard to get their attention at times to order another drink or close out. That was my only critique for this spot. Overall I would love to come back and support a local business where I grew up. read more

My husband and I visited this place to watch some football . We walked into a clean and large establishment with lots of TVs and a big bar . I really was looking forward to having a good time. As we arrived, we made our way to the bar, where we stood there for 15 to 20 minutes before any of the bartenders and servers acknowledged us. Finally, after 25 minutes, we got a drink. I was still optimistic that besides that incident, I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt as they were busy, we'll I was wrong. We sat down at a table were yet again we were ignored by the server and waited about 30 minutes to order food.Once we placed our order, which took about 35 minutes for someone to bring the food out, however it was the wrong order , so we were told that our food was being cooked and was going to be out shortly, and that shortly turned into an hour, one of the girls name Celia checked on us and was very upset to see that our food was not yet out she seemed very upset and was very apologetic, she told us that she would talk to the owners and tell our server to comp the food since it had been almost 2 hours if waiting for our order of wings. But the biggest dissapointments was when we got the check and they were still charging us for the food and extra drinks we didn't order, so my husband asked our server to talked to a manager, unfortunately did not get her name but she started off the conversation with a very hostile , rude attitude. As my husband was explaining the situation, she said, " So, you got your food ,so you need to pay." I shined in the conversation, and at mid sentence, she walked away from us. Celia popped in again, and the so-called manager started arguing with her saying "well there comp is going to come out of your check." Celia apologized again for her attitude, and she stated that she had spoken to the owners and that they were going to comp the food. The "manager " came back with a new check with the correct amount. Most definitely never going back to that place is such of shame as the establishment has lots of potential to be a great place. But they need better service and retrained their staff with some basic customer service. read more

I was so impressed with Progress on Main. It is so spacious, and the bar was stocked well. Their selection is so vast and I really appreciate that. We went to grab a few drinks. Unfortunately we had just missed Happy Hour, but the drinks are still well priced and taste great. The staff is attentive, we had a great time with Lorena and Sandra. They also have a small outdoor seating and a vendor outside selling Pita and Falafel so that was nice! They have a variety of vendors posted on their Instagram so you can check before going. Very disappointed tonight. After a long day of working two jobs all I wanted to do was have a night cap. Some of my friends happened to be here and being they closed at 1, I decided to meet them. My friend met me outside about 12:15. Once we got to the door a short security guy with dark hair and his hands in his pocket allowed my friends who were already there to walk in but then stopped me and two other friends who decided to join. He said they were closed and not allowing anyone in. Then proceeded to look at my friends who were there and say "this is why I don't let anyone out" ok, RUDE! I asked what time they close and he said 1 and said they do last call at 12 and don't let anyone else in after that. Seems like not only a loss of business but a loss of tips for the servers/bartenders. Good luck! read more

El Monte is now next level with this bar on Main Street. I'm hoping that this new business will attract more restaurants and places on main street. The inside of the bar is high class to the standard of downtown LA and also their drinks. You can't go wrong with their happy hour which is every day, you can get a cocktail for six dollars during happy hour time. After 8 o'clock it gets pretty packed. Definitely disappointed for sure. The set was so awful!!! If you are sitting at the bar the servers have to take the orders not the bartenders. Then when I finally order my drinks the server got my order wrong and it took 15mins just to get my drink. Also my server disappear after she took my order. Man looks can be very deceiving went to watch football for the first time there and it was nice as you walk into a very open floor plan surrounded by multiple screens and a nice atmosphere. Well that probably the only good thing I could say, all the great ambiance in the world could not cover up how bad the service and attitudes of so called mgrs and staff was here. Waited at the bar ignored multiple times by pasing staff and Bar tenders, waiting over 30 mins to even have a server take a food order and then here the kicker I'm going to say an hour and half wait for a plate of wings. This is not the only thing though, so being that the wait was so long was told that wings and 2 drinks were being comped by server just to have the so called manger rudely approach the table to tell me that they were not comping the food nor drink and said to me "That did you get your Wings, said yes 1.5 hr later, But did you get your Wings". Server was more understanding and had informed the owner of the bar of the situation and the comped food and drink went through, but there is more after this I had checked my bank to check my account just to see that they had double charged me and it and the total was $40 over the original bill before being so called comp, was wondering why it was taking so long for mgr to give me back card when she did bring it back. Now I'm in a dispute with my bank. This was a bad experience I will not be going through again and I warn those that do go be vary attentive of your tab and bill because you don't know what could happen there. The best thing about this bar is that they have a Bogo by a beer get a beer only setback is they are severely understaffed and people are waiting for over 35 minutes in a single line lbecause of that. The venue is huge plenty of space plenty of tables there is a small outdoor patio and the bar is actually a renovated pawn shop located in the old 1950s 60s SouthEl Monte mall area. Great beers are the Pony express coming in at 10 % alcohol by volume and their high societe a tasty Mexican lager . Once they hire more folks to put behind the bar they will sell more beer and the nightmarish wait will be over . read more

I went to this bar to have a good time during this pandemic and difficult time, and one of the staff with purple hair was soooo rude and inconsiderate to my friend. My friend was unfortunately throwing up in the bathroom, and instead of asking if she was okay, she said "you need to hurry up and leave now". So it shows that this staff does not care about the well-being of their clients. She was also telling other staff that she "had to clean this shit up" right in front of my friend during a time when my friend was feeling vulnerable and embarrassed.
