What surprised me about Professional Nails was how small and dirty it was. Although they had plastic dividers between the nail tech and the customer, each customer was basically right next to each other. They kept moving customers around instead of moving the nail techs which made me question the cleanliness of the whole operations. To make matters worse, I saw two bugs as I was washing my hands. It was just generally grimy. For the actual nails, I got dip. I had dip before so they soaked my nails to take it off. But they just put a bowl of acetone in front of me and basically forgot about me for 30 minutes. I paid $45 for a new set which is fairly standard for the area. However, for the service? Not worth it. I got nicked 4 times and was actually bleeding. There were also small bits the nail tech didn't get so it just looked crusty overall. I gave them another chance and I wish I never did. The owner talks down to people, does your nails very thin so they will break and you have to pay $5-10 for the replacement. I had 4 nails break less than 5 days of having them. The first one could have been of my doing so I paid to get it fixed 2 days after I got it but 2 days later I had 2 more breaks and 1 chip. I wear nails all the time and usually longer than the ones I had and there was no reason for all those breakages. After the first replacement I noticed how thin the other nails compared to the repaired nail & pictures of several sets I had before. I explained to Jason (the owner) the situation he kept talking over me, saying I shouldn't haven't been moving around so much and kept saying I was yelling at him, which I was not. He kept trying to gaslight me to anger which was simply not gonna happen. We all make mistakes sometimes and I just wanted him to right his wrong but INSTEAD I was met with rude comments, him speaking over me, calling me angry, loud ( and he knew what he was doing by saying that) and being told If I didn't have any money I shouldn't come back... anyways PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. They need to change the name of this nail salon to UNprofessional Nails. I don't know what Ken's problem was today but I definitely will be finding a new nail salon. He asked me what I needed to get done, and I told him I needed a fill-in, a cut down, and for him to make sure that my nails were sealed underneath, because they've been lifting up in between visits. Somewhere between me telling him what needed and him actually doing it, he caught a very nasty, very obvious attitude. I don't know if the sheer volume of work (note the sarcasm) is what made him mad or what. All I know is that he proceeded to do some very sloppy and careless work. I've been to this salon several times, so I know what he's capable of, but this was nowhere near the quality of work I'm used to receiving. When he reshaped my nails, they were all different shapes. Some were leaning to one side or the other. Others were curved on one side of the nail and straight on the other. I asked him politely (several times) to fix them, as well as explained as best I could what needed to be done. More than a few times I caught him shaking his head in frustration as he did so. Maybe if he kept his head still long enough, he could see what needed to be fixed. While most of the nails would have required a few extra seconds of TLC, some of the nails were blatantly crooked... I mean, Stevie Wonder could see how crooked they were. Even after I showed him, he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. What was really frustrating is that he acted like I was inconveniencing him by asking him to fix his sloppy work. It's not like the shop was busy. There was no one else in the salon waiting for services. And it was a slow day, so I don't know what the issue was. At one point, his attitude was so bad that I told him I don't know what I did to piss him off, but that all I wanted was for my nails to be straight and done correctly. He acted like he didn't hear a thing I said. I could not wait to get out of there. Copping an attitude with your costumers is a quick way to lose business, and by the looks of this raggedy, run-down salon, they can hardly afford to do that. Either way, they've just lost a customer. Ugh, I loved my experience here! I used to come here some years back but I moved about 15-20 mins further out so I was going to a different salon... after finding Jason's page on IG I thought to myself like wow they really must have upgraded this place! So I made an appointment with Jason and I must say my experience was nothing but pleasant! Jason was super funny & outgoing - yes, he does have his character & sense of humor, which I personally LOVED! -- Oh and he definitely knows what he is doing and wastes no time accommodating everyone as best as he can. Keep in mind the shop is small and is in a high traffic area so I would suggest making an appointment a day or so in advance .. I did & bc I did personally did not experience any wait time but I can't say the same for some of the walk ins. The pedicure I received from an older woman was very gentle & soothing, she took her time & was very detailed about everything from the scrub, warm towel , fine painting skills... she took the time to moisturize between each toe and had the friendliest smile . I loved it here and will definitely be back . Side note: I told Jason I saw his IG I wanted a nude, multi color glow in the dark ombré & to just do his thing ... and I must say he did HIS THINGGG, Today is Aug.23rd (Kobe Bryant's birthday) and I'm sure it was a coincidence but never the less the set was a beautiful yellow & purple ombré tips and all the nails glow ...EVEN THE NUDE GLOWS! I am so disgusted by the POOR customer service received here not once, but TWICE; my own fault for coming back, trying to support a small, local business. During my first visit, the man did OK. It wasn't too bad (dip powder that he didn't dip, but brushed on...his own "technique" and didn't soak the last dip off, which made the intended color quite odd) and when I sat for the pedicure they assured me they could do...I just sat and sat...until I asked WHO was going to take care of me. To which the owner responded "I don't know yet, can you just sit in the water?" And I had already been sitting in the water for 20 minutes! I returned 2 weeks later and the owner, Jason, did my dip set; he did an AWESOME job! I made a 3 week appointment with him and followed up this past Saturday. He wasn't there when I walked in today at our exact 12pm appointment time. When I inquired, his brother told me that he left to run errands and didn't know his return time. So I called Jason; he told me he's home sick, tell his brother to help me. His brother said he's not sick and maybe I should try coming back tomorrow; his priority was watching soccer on his phone. They do great nails. Two complaints though, I just don't like when I make an appointment with a specific tech, if they're not available when I arrive for my appointment then I get the next best. Ask the customer if they're willing to wait a few. Don't just assume. Last, the pry your old acrylic off with another fake nail instead of soaking them. The lady that did this for me, God bless her heart, was so shaky & im pretty sure didn't have the right prescription glasses on. Usually a great experience but yesterday was horrible. I made an appointment for 4:00 pm with Jason and arrived at 3:45 pm. He had someone else in his chair so I waited. Another customer walked in and he told her he would be done soon and for her to pick her color. A few minutes later another customer walked in and asked if he could take her and he said he had 2 other customers before her but she could come back and he would take her after. I waited until 4:30 pm for my appointment and he took the customer who walked in well after me. I just walked out. I drove 35 minutes from Frederick. I went in today to get a French tip and full set. My toes were done completely wrong even thought I stopped the lady to make sure she was gonna do it right. Ends up painting my whole toe pink with a white French tip even tho I just wanted a pink French tip line. We had to start over, it still was very sloppy. I had to direct her to have it right. I gave up after cause I didn't want to spend another hour, then I went to get my nails done. Full set acrylic, I showed them the picture of how I wanted my nails done. Tiffany then proceeds to paint my nails, it's not how I wanted so i let her know. She proceeded to have an attitude and got mad with me. Throws my hands down and tells someone else to do it. This is already 5 time I had to wait around. They made me feel like I was the problem, how this design is hard and etc. but like the picture I shown fr their ig they have done this. It's just sloppy and inconsistent. Also every time I wanted to let them know that I didn't like how it was they would speak in their language infringe of me. This place is a no for me. I came here only one time but one time is all I needed. Aside from the fact that it is awkwardly dirty, like actual dirt is on the walls, the quality of the pedicure I received was no where up to par. My toes looked worse than when I went in. I sat for some time and later asked to go in the back for my pedicure. They charged me an extra 5 dollars to scrub my feet!! I said no worries it's already started. The girl did not do a great job she kept using the little machine on my skin and I kept indicating to her when she did that it hurt. The painting of the nails was terrible and I could not see well till I stepped outside and saw it with natural light. Now for my hands. Jason finally got to me after I sat there for 30mins. I began telling him there was a little of gel left that the solution did not take off and before I could complete my sentence this rude guy (Jason) told be "can you be quiet!" I looked at him and said why? that is rude and no I won't be quiet. They this Black woman proceeded to jump in and say "people be talking too much this morning" the heck? What kind of customers come to this shop? And what kind of service do you provide here? I was in shock. I refused to stoop down to this level and decided to finish up and leave never to return. The story does not end there. I have included photos of how rushed and bad the work was. I told him to clean it up a bit and he did a few seconds and called it done. On top of that he would not do the shape I wanted and I had to keep repeating myself till he did. Then he added you are not doing any styles like the others. Why not I can do for you. I said thanks I just want something simple. Gel overlay. Let me not forget the part where he was not gentle handling my hands. Pushing it twisting it just completely rude. Oh and there is the part where someone called to set up an appointment and he told the person "can you be quiet?" Waw! This is just how he talks to people and the kind of people of come must like that cos this lady was like "you always do this..." what in the name is this??? The lady on phone kept talking to him and Jason just stopped talking and doing something g else. The lady kept saying "hello hello are you there...?" For about 60 second. That is a long time for someone to try to get your attention. Then he kept calling a woman's husband her boyfriend. The lady kept correcting him saying "that was my husband loud and clear. And he kept sing no your boyfriend! Waw! I am blown away. Oh I ended up with two different colors because he said he could not find the color match. At that point I just wanted to get out of the shop. I was charged 85 dollars for this terrible service. Now you will ask why I paid and tipped $5. Because when it comes to these things and he being Asian and me Black the odds are still against me. He can claim whatever when the police come and I will be left in the same category as him and some of the customers. Or arrested. I refused to be characterized as "ghetto" or characterized as "angry Black woman" or anything derogatory. It money it's karma. The money will return to me in folds same as karma to him in folds. He showed me two glitters that I didn't like so I asked if he had anything else. He got up and said "I don't have time for this" walked away and started working on another customer. After talking about me to another male worker, that male worker came to me and started painting my nails. He asked me SUCH an inappropriate question and I felt so uncomfortable. He said "do you get freaky with your boyfriend?" "So why are you being a freak here?" I'm not rude, or loud, or mean. I'm very kind, soft-spoken, and respectful. I don't know what he meant by those words he said. Then, he only did one coat of nail polish and wanted me to pay. I've always gotten at least two coats, but they didn't want to do that. I had to insist in order for them to do two coats. They were SO mean, nasty, and rude. I don't get it. I've come in so many times and they've been great. Ripped me off!!!! Be prepared to go in for a regular gel fill and get told one price over the phone and when it's done they tell you that you have to pay an entire different price! They charged extra to file the nail down, take off old acrylics, and I was told $8 for stones on two nails and was charged $8 for each nail when I got to the counter and of course I wasn't about to make a scene with Asians as they will call the police! My total leaving was $73!!!!! My nails are sore because Jason was very rough. No thanks.
