I seldom post negative reviews but yesterday's conversation with an employee of Lovely Nails, coupled with a few prior experiences, leaving me dazed and confused (not from acrylic fumes) rather from the ridiculousness of the situation, inspired me. On one visit, I was requested in the middle of a mani/pedi, to "let another customer take my seat," while the manicurist applied the client's polish. When I explained nicely that I, too was a "customer" and didn't have time to step aside, I was accused of being high maintenance! Next visit, I had a sweet, new manicurist who took her time doing my pedicure, apologizing as she proceeded under the watchful, stink-eye of the owner. She innocently nicked me a couple of times, drawing blood, which I assured her was okay and I knew unintentional. She and the other technicians began an echo chamber, "She's thin skinned!" Excuse Me???? Fast forward, I phoned yesterday to schedule an appointment, and was told I made the last girl nervous. The receptionist was instructed to tell me, "No one do you, vs. "Anyone do you?" This is by far the worst nail salon experience I've ever had. Not only is their service consistently poor with sloppy nail work, a very limited color selection, and outdated, raggedy furniture but today I experienced something completely unacceptable: racial profiling. The staff repeatedly brought up pricing as though I couldn't afford it, which was insulting and degrading. On top of that, the employees are generally rude and unprofessional. I had previously given this place multiple chances, hoping maybe they just had a bad day, but after today I will never return. Be sure to know how much your service is because they will try to overcharge you. I came in for a gel refill and Susan charged me $60 for "length" which was medium & a design on 2 nails. Mind you none of my nails were broken. I asked her why did it amount to that much & she realized she over charged me. Then she decreased the price to $50 because she wasn't going to charge me for the "length" just the gel refill and 2 designs. As she tried to do the design it was a complete fail which is okay, it happens. So i asked to just forget the design and keep my nails a solid color. She then tells me she's going to charge me for the "length" & not the designs of course because I'm not getting them AFTER THE FACT, she told me the length would be free & she couldn't complete the design which wasn't my problem. I ended up getting upset but was willing to pay for the "length" she then told me my total will be $40 because she knew she was dead wrong. Susan is nice but I don't recommend her. Giving customers false info & attempting to over price! Very unfair. My nails look thick and aren't even. I spent 1hr & 40 minutes at the salon just for a refill. Honestly I should probably give them 1 but I'll be nice because they attempted to fix them. I asked the lady for orange french tips (for a pop of summer color) and she just seemed so rushed throughout the whole process. She said she would add a line to make them look nicer but it ended up looking bad. Not to mention there was bubbles and the nails looked so thick it looked like I put play dough on them. Anyways I came the next day and asked for her to fix them and she said it was my fault because of the color when in reality she just didn't know how to do french tips. She changed the color and it looks fine now. My pointer finger looks shorter than the rest but I guess it's fine...but I say save your money and take it elsewhere. read more

Would give zero stars if possible. Very bad experience! Granted, I went there as a walk in for color change on fingers/toes. I did not have time for a full service mani/pedi as I had an evening event to attend. We discussed what I needed and I was quoted a price which I agreed to. However, 3 things happened which I took issue w. 1)$6 addition to TRIM the nails. Huh?! This was not posted anywhere and I felt like she just made that up. 2)As photo shows, I was told that salon policy is to not do the toe color change at the pedicure station but to extend the client's feet UNDER the mani station onto the attendant's lap. My legs (I'm 5'11") are long and I was uncomfortable which I expressed If this is policy, it's a bad one. Making customers comfortable and welcome- good policy. 3) $10 for toes, $7 for fingers, $6 for 'the trim'. $23. I gave $30 fully intending to give tip. She kept $5 of her own volition and gave me $2. Well she shorted herself. But too bad, after that move, I kept the extra $2. I may have just had an impolite attendant but she reflected very poorly on the establishment. I am of color and of course would hope this was not a factor in the maltreatment. I usually don't complain but felt that this business needs to know what they need to work on. This place has its positives and negatives. First of all they don't really have a great variety of nail colors as I've seen at my usual nail salon. When I first entered the lady was on her phone and didn't look up until a little later. The lady that did my nails was extremely nice, but the man and lady who did my mom and grandma's nails were rude and just wanted to rush to get us to leave. I agree with a lot of the other reviewers that they definitely want to make sure you are happy (offer suggestions, make sure you like the color with a test nail, will re-do them if you aren't happy or smudge while drying, etc.). V is outstanding and very fast w acrylics, in my opinion. As with any nail salon, Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturdays can get a little busy so either make an appointment or go at an off time on a weekday and you'll have no problem getting a seat. Also, be sure to bring cash for tips! (but they're really nice if you forget and always have to run to Giant next door, like me) read more

The one woman (next to the check-in desk) always refuses to do my acrylics and she was extremely rude asking me to pull out my own in-grown toenail during a pedicure. The man that also works on acrylics/fills always grinds the nail extremely thin. So thin that it has cut into my real nail underneath before. *read last section if you want to skip story* I went in as a walk-in to meet up for manicures/pedicures with two friends. I saw that they had 3 techs with customers (my friends included) but was willing to wait. I sat next to my friends for about 5-10 minutes to chat when I was finally offered a seat to soak my feet by my tech. At this point, the two other techs were nearing the end of my friends' pedicures. I'm still sitting and waiting for my tech to return as she's wrapping something up with another client-no problem. Another woman walks in and sits next to tech and other client. Mean while, my friends are done and making their way to a hand/nail station. I look over to my tech and see that she's done with her 1st client and instead of coming back to me, starts on the other walk-in. At this point, I tell my friends that if they finish up, I'd leave with them since we had other arranged plans. One of my friends tells her tech, as she approaches with hand soak bowl and supplies, that she changed her mind and didn't want a manicure and that if she could instead start on my pedicure. The tech mumbles something and points to my tech, which of course at this point is engaged with another person. My friend repeats herself and her tech forcefully picks up the supplies. It was enough to notice so she was bothered or upset. Unprofessional, nonetheless. Once she began working on my feet, she pinched my skin once, "I'm sorry...twice, "I'm sorry" and then the third time, on my toe, she peels back skin. It hurt so I say, "ow, could you not do that again? That's the third time". This was all on the same foot. She said that she peeled skin from underneath toe and something about that happening with wearing boots. Yes! Because I wear boots everyday to work! Upon starting other foot she asked this time if I wanted the skin peeled or just cleaned up. Told her not to do it again. I couldn't even enjoy chatting with friends or enjoy the pedicure itself because I was mad and was watching to make sure she didn't nick me again! This was my first time here, as a walk-in, unlucky for them, they won't be seeing the three of us again. Two of us didn't even get intended manicures. I'm writing this review the next morning and my right toe is red and slightly swollen but definitely tender to touch and walk on. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN! read more
