She made me pay beforehand which I've never had to do before and I was fine with it at first. Then, while doing cuticle care, she hurt my nails while cleaning the rim because she was pushing down the cuticle tools so hard. She pushed it down so hard, it made my nails bleed. After I pointed out it was bleeding, she dabbed it with alcohol once and it still kept bleeding then she proceeded to do nothing about it. Afterwards, she painted the nails and never cleaned off the excess nail. She walked away afterwards and while I was waiting for my nail to dry, and she never came back to tell me when I could leave. I asked the other technicians if I was fine because it was a while and my nails were dry and they said yes and I walked out. I had excess nail polish all around my finger and I still saw excess blood coming out the bottom rim of my nail. This is ridiculous, never coming back again. read more

I came here with my friend. The technician who worked with me was very rude. I wanted a collagen pedicure. She never even asked me what kind of pedicure I wanted. She just gave me a basic pedicure because that is what she thought I wanted. (Even though she never asked me). She was done with me in a hurry and said she was done. I took my daughter for her birthday and her friend as well. When I picked them up I was given the shock of paying $130. I paid it. When we got in the car the girls told me they hated their nails. My daughter was bleeding and the color wasn't on the nail correctly. The tech missed the ends of all the nails. The shaping is awful. Her index finger is smaller than the others. Her friends index finger is shaped bent down and asked for small hearts. One looks like a circle! When I called the owner he was argumentative with me as opposed to trying to make it right. He said the girl's liked the job. They are middle school girls and were too shy to tell the techs that they hated them. I tried coming to an amicable resolution. The owner only wanted to offer a discount on the next service, I told him there is no next service after this job. I wanted a partial refund and he refused. What I recommend is going to the other salons in the area. You will get better quality, better service, and better pricing. This place is horrible! Do not waste your money here! I got a gel pedicure. They used a Dremel file to remove my existing gel nail polish at the manicure station. Which no one has never done before. My nail on my big toe had ripped off from stubbing my toe and she fixed it with some powder which was fine. While I was in the pedicure chair 2 of my smaller nails broke while she was filing which I thought was strange. She went to grab more powder to fix those and while she was away I reached down and all of my nails were super thin and flimsy which was unusual. It's now been 5 days and my other big toenail chipped for what seems like no apparent reason because it's so thin. I've never been to this place before and am pretty sad at how thin my nails are and their method of gel removal. Otherwise. The lady was nice. I've been going to A1 Nails Salon ever since the new management took over and I'm so glad I did stumble upon this hidden gem out of the abundance of nail salons in the area. Nicole is my go-to nail artist, but all the staff is just as good on the occasions that I wasn't able to reserve my spot with Nicole. Reservations here is highly recommended, as they do fill up quickly, especially on the weekends. However, the team always try their best to accommodate walk-ins as much as they're able. You can always call before stopping by to see how long the wait time is as well so this will save you a trip if the wait is longer than your liking. The store now has so many colors to choose from, especially the Honey Phan line. I always get gel mani and regular pedicure and the colors always lasts me 3-4 weeks on average without chipping. Overall, highly recommended even though this means they will be busier, but the team and this small business here definitely deserves your support! read more

Well I've definitely found my new nail place. I've been having mixed experiences with my usual place and decided to look on Yelp to find a new one. My daughter and me gave A1 Nails a try. My daughter has SUPER short nails, from years of biting them, so I wanted someone who could do dip powder on her and have it look good. Our other salon kept saying her nails were too short to do a decent job, and they always messed them up. My daughter had an appointment with Nicole, who did an amazing job on her dip nails. They look so pretty and she's finally not embarrassed of her nails. She also got a white gel pedicure for the beach and it looks fantastic. I went to Rose for a regular pedicure and manicure and couldn't be happier. The salon has a large selection of colors and wonderful massage chairs. They also give you a 5% discount if you use Zelle/Cash. New customers get a 10% discount. I also really appreciated that they kept our appointment time. They even called ahead of time to make sure we were still coming. So many salons take walk ins and then mess up your time, but not this one, they were great about our time and everyone else I saw coming in. This is definitely our new go to nail place. read more

Avoid this place if you can. Had my appointment on Friday. Nail technician did a terrible job. Very uneven gel color and colored my cuticles. Didn't have time to get them fixed so I made an appointment to come back in on Sunday. The terrible color was only the tip of the iceberg. Came back Sunday and the tech assessed my nails and agreed it was bad. After waiting 15 minutes she tells me to come back the next day bc they are so busy yet they are taking walk ins who came after me? I told them I had an appointment and she insisted I come back. I was fed up and asked for a refund. For some reason that was the magic word and someone was able to take me to fix my nails. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. If you make mistakes, own up and fix it. Not to mention they do not sanitize any of the clippers and cutters. He was using cuticle clippers that still had the remnants of the previous customer. Many other places you can go in Germantown. If I could give this place 0 stars I would, came here on a Sunday, 3 employees working, 3 clients, all I needed was to get my acrylic removed and the lady said "we can't do that" I asked when they could and she said in 4 hours, there was no line, no one waiting. I gave them more than 3 tries to be great, December January February and March. Each time I went it was always a new employee. I made two appointments and attempted two walk ins, 1 where I was seated pretty quickly. My issues are poor customer service, they were rude and abrasive as of me being there for nails was disrupting their show on tv. When I asked for fixes or a new color is was if I was a bother, yet each time I tipped but today I didn't because I can't take rudeness. They are not good at basic nails and don't like criticism or correction. The only plus is they aren't expensive and conveniently located. That gets them a star. The lady forced me into a gel paint which was obviously more expensive and the shade on the shade card didn't even match with the final outcome. Well... i went into this salon expecting to be in love with my new set of nails however, I was very disappointed. I called prior to coming and was told i can do a walk in yet when i went i was told i needed to make an appointment and was told to come back in an hour. I did not mind doing so at all however, my issue was the set of nails. I requested for coffin shape and did not get that at all. The nails were poorly done and i sat there for over 2 hours for a simple set of nails. I was unable to even type anything on my cellphone because they were way too bulky. Also, when being charged i was charged wrong and one of the techs came to tell the lady who was doing mine something and had a whole conversation in another language while looking at me and my hands to then say i was charged wrong. I was charged for shape but i did not get the one i requested for and was unhappy with my set. I will not be coming back to this salon as my first experience was vey unpleasant. read more

This nail salon don't even deserve a 1 star rating. I decided to try them out since they are closer than my other nail salon. I learned a lesson don't cancel with your salon where you have established a relationship. First sign I should've ran when I showed her a picture and she said I don't do design I only do color. How are you a nail tech and you can't design. That's like coming to the UPS store and saying you don't mail regular letters. Second when she used that gold drill bit on my nails with turbo speed. It was my first time here and I called before to schedule a Brazilian and inquire about the price. I was told $40 which was in my price range but then when I got there the woman told me that it was supposed to be $50-60. Amy was very thorough and didn't irritate my skin at all though I already have thin hair there. She did, however, try to not do a full job (only the front half) because she had told me that I could get the original price since the man on the phone told me differently. When I brought it up she said that they charge extra for that, I've gotten plenty of Brazilians and they never charge more to do the full thing -.- Overall they got the job done and done well, Amy, like I said, was very thorough and friendly but there totally is a communication barrier either between employees or between clientele and employee. I'm not really sure what has happened since the new management started. I used to always go here and had no issues. Recently, they have two new men working here. One did a horrible job on my acrylic the first go around. A month later I decided to go back- they placed me with the other man since I refused the first one. He didn't do too bad, however a week and a half later, two acrylic nails popped off and the rest of the acrylic nails were starting to lift- it happened to be around the same time I needed a fill in, so I thought maybe a fill in would make it better. I had pink acrylic and wanted the fill in to match so I went back to the same location. Made an appointment at 7pm on 7/12. The owner called me around 645 to say they were running late , so come around 710. Okay fine. I get there at 7:10 but the two men were still working on clients. Two women were sitting around watching videos on their phone instead of at least trying to take me at my scheduled time.... Nothing. I waited until 7:40 and then decided to leave. I will never be going back and will be making the effort to find a black owned nail salon now. Terrible sense of customer service. read more
