Found out about Silia and Illusions Hair Studio through yelp. I wanted a hair cut because on the same day I was having a trial for bridal hair at a separate salon. Silia did an such a great job!! I had layers done with hair framing my face. Silia was very meticulous and took her time with my super long hair. I felt soooo much better after the haircut and it looked amazing. She was also great to talk as well! I scheduled my follow up in three months before I left. I also scheduled a bridal hair trial since I didn't love my first one I went to after she cut my hair. Just got my balayage and cut with Jovanna and I am so in love!! I knew I was going to be impressed when she spent so much time to really understand my vision and talk out the next steps instead of just rushing to get started. I came to her with really brassy ends from my balayage over a year ago and she managed to get those orange hues out and get me to the chocolatey caramely brown I was looking for. She also did a fantastic job at making a subtle and natural color transition instead of just throwing in large steaks of highlights in the front like others tend to do. I was also in a bit of a time crunch once we got to the cut/blowdry and she managed to work her fashion week skills and get me to where I needed to be right on time without compromising the look! Beyond her talent with hair, she was also such a lovely and motivating woman and I look forward to working with her for every touch up. i made an appointment for a style hair cut with an expected stylist instead of the promised stylist, I got a stylist with basic experience. my precious long hair was cut horribly and I was left looking like Dora the explorer. I could have gotten that same haircut at haircuttery or better for less ($2500) not $110.00 for ruining my experience and giving the worse haircut ever! I would never go here again and I would not recommend it to anyone! read more

I just found my new hair salon! Nu does a fantastic job, she is professional and very thorough. She talk to me about how to style my hair. I'm a busy working mom, and like most busy working moms, have zero time for me. The salon is extremely convenient to get to, and they have A wide range of available hours. I have found Montgomery village's best hair salon! I can not explain how happy I am with my beautiful haircut. Silia did an amazing job fixing my hair. She brought it back to life. I've gone three times now in the last month or so. I was looking for a new place and saw this place had great reviews. First the haircut which was very good. I have difficult hair and grace did an excellent job. Then I brought my daughter in. Then I had my hair colored. So far it's been great. The prices are high. But ok. So happy I found this salon after moving to the area. I received a terrible "trim" from another salon right after moving here so I was very nervous about trying another place. This family owned business is comfortable and everyone is very friendly. I was lucky enough to see Silia and to have found a new stylist! They also have a nail salon in the back. So my husband looked at me this morning and said, "your hair looks nice"! What the what?! While I have heard the occasional "what happened to your hair" for the most part there is no comment - he doesn't ask, and I don't tell, lol. Spontaneous compliments are not his forte, let's just let it go at that. After 27-28 years of marriage I can't even say I notice it that much which makes this morning's conversation even more remarkable. Needless to say, Grace now has a customer for life! She took her time, got to know me and my hair, asked lots of questions about how well I work with my hair (basic skills at best), and managed to translate my completely non-hair vocabulary into the perfect style that I can manage at home and reproduce like I just walked out of the salon. The space is beautiful, new and clean, and it feels more like a spa. Parking is ample, although the salon itself can be a little hard to find if you don't know where to look. I got pink streaks in my hair here and I loved them. Pat was great and really helped me get what I wanted through multiple trial and error. She told me to wait 2 days to wash and I did but after I washed my hair, almost all the pink was gone and I was just left with bleached highlights. This was my second visit to Illusions and to Silia. The first time I went I was a little worried because I bleach my hair myself and I knew it was damaged. Instead of berating me for doing my own color, she offered me solutions on how to handle it since it was dry. I brought pictures for reference as to how I wanted my hair cut and it turned out better than the pics. I had a ton of compliments on my hair. This time, I just told her what I was looking for and again, better than I could have imagined! I even got a compliment from my Mom and she NEVER likes my hair!!! I went here base on several reviews about Kim. Well let's just say my husband was not happy the the results and neither was I. I went looking for a new look for Christmas and New Years and came out with a half of a half highlighted hair and two different color of hair which did not match at all. I NEVER write reviews on anything, but after more than 10 years I felt it was time . Atillio is an awesome stylist - and a master with color. I get more compliments on my color than I can count. I have very long and very coarse hair and Atillio knows just how to blowout my hair. It always looks great and lasts up to a week! While I am committed to Atillio, I have had the opportunity to have Silia do my hair in a pinch and she is great. I can't say enough about Illusions and the quality and personalized service that they provide. read more

Relocated to the area 6 years ago. I think I have been to every high end salon in DC, MD and Virginia, only to be dissatisfied. This year I discovered Luis and Illusions Hair Studio.....just 5 minutes from my house! Definitely a hidden gem!! Relaxing, nor stuffy, affordable.....and Luis is excellent. I have been to Kim several times recently. Great stylist but on my last visit she tried to dispense unsolicited medical advice which I didn't ask for or appreciate. The manager was also standing nearby and rather than letting the subject drop she continued also questioning my health status. I am not sure why hair stylists feel it is their duty to dispense advice when unsolicited. Perhaps Kim thought she was doing a favor but instead it was hurtful. I left feeling badly and instead of how one should feel after having a hair cut. Feeling uncomfortable now, probably won't return which is too bad since Kim is really talented. read more
