I've never written a yelp review before but figured this was worth it. Best auto mechanic I've been to, hands-down. I have an older car (2000) that I use to drive to work to save miles on a new vehicle so I'm trying not to invest too much money in it. After acquiring the vehicle I visited this shop for the first time to have it checked out and mentioned this, expecting an eye roll or some hesitancy if nothing else. The gentleman at the counter didn't hesitate to say "no problem" and that they'd be happy to help. They pointed out a few things that I should keep on my radar but didn't push me to make any major repairs and charged me a fair price for a simple alignment/tire rotation. My second visit was to straighten out the steering after an encounter with a Memorial Drive pot hole and I had the same experience; a good price to get everything straightened out and working safely. It could easily have been an opportunity to get me to sign up for more. A few months later I decided I'd try my hand at some DIY suspension work, which went well but left me in need of another front end alignment, which requires equipment beyond what I have in my garage. Again, they were very pleasant and didn't even blink at my request or push me towards any other repairs/part replacements which I'm sure I'll need in time. That alone is something seemingly rare at most shops, but the rest of the experience couldn't be better either. They've got a good website, you can request appointments online, the staff is friendly, the office is clean and they have a number of surprisingly clean and well-maintained $15/day rental cars to make drop-offs easy and convenient. As someone who knows a bit about cars (enough to be dangerous, at least) I never felt I was being pushed or taken advantage of, which is critical. So repair with confidence! This is a great garage with a trustworthy staff that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to a friend or family member. read more

Great automotive service, excellent customer service, and trustworthy advice. Have used them for my Subaru for 6 years, and always been happy with the outcomes, including diagnosis-only trips, where they identified failing wheel bearings. Love this shop. read more

Without a doubt the most PROFESSIONAL mechanic/shop I have ever been too. Called them Monday afternoon, they took me first thing next morning. They inspected my car and told me everything it needed. I only ended up getting new tires along with an alignment that I all desperately needed. Very fair pricing. Love the notes they gave me in my vehicle for all the remaining things my vehicle still needs. Very friendly service. Great attention to detail. Cannot speak highly of my first experience. Been to several other mechanics in the area, but this place is by far the best. Look forward to coming back soon, and bringing my other vehicles as well here! read more

I needed to have my car inspected, and was turned away unceremoniously by another well-known auto shop. I did a Google search and found Professional Automotive, 2 minutes from my home. I was greeted by Rick who was very friendly and helpful. Within minutes, he took my keys and registration. I settled in for what I assumed would be a lengthy wait, but 10-15 minutes later, I was all set. I will definitely be a customer in the future for maintenance and any other issues that may crop up. Like their name says, they are professionals! Many thanks. read more

Had a transmission problem with my wife's Acura. It's been a problem for awhile. We have a family mechanic who could could not figure it out. Went searching on Yelp and found Professional b/c of reviews. They took a look and called me and walked me through multiple options and then recommended the least expensive route...and that worked. I just found a new regular mechanic. These guys are top notch. read more

I have been going to Professional Automotive for about 6 years now and have never had a negative experience. They are honest and always willing to explain things thoroughly to me. I never feel like they are taking advantage of me, as I have felt in the past with other mechanics. I recently purchased a brand new vehicle and had an extremely disappointing experience with the service team at the dealership (Herb Connolly Hyundai Framingham) it was so bad that I will not even return for the free oil change that was offered to me. The experience made me appreciate Professional Automotive even more, which has prompted me to take the time to write this review. Shout out to Rick who is always kind and helpful. read more

I called Professional Automotive on a Monday and scheduled a test for Wednesday. The whole time I explained to them that the alternator was new and was most likely not the root cause of the problem even if it was damaged at this point. I dropped my car off on Tuesday night and by 8:10AM on Wednesday they called stating I had a bad alternator and a replacement would be $931(I will say they later claimed labor would be included in this cost, but at this point I wouldn't trust it). I told them again this was not the root cause and asked if they performed the tests I requested. Paul claimed they did and saw no fault, which is strange because they had performed it so quickly. Letting him know I didn't believe this, he immediately claimed I was not a right fit for them(he'll try to blame this on warranty on the part, but you can change mechanics and the warranty still applies: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0138-auto-warranties-routine-maintenance#do) I now had to schedule a tow knowing that they couldn't solve my problems. When I jumped my car the previous night, I left the positive terminal cap off and when I showed up and looked under the hood of the car in the same spot it was still off, making me think they actually did nothing with it. I believe I was being lied to the whole time and was explaining this. Paul claimed that I "wasn't listening" and that "he's an expert" and when I kept calling him out on current draws he was providing(parasitic leakage of .15A being OK by him), he walked away and stuck his tongue out at me, I guess this is his view of professional. At that point, I started yelling saying he was lying to his customers. He threatened to call the cops and I told him to do so because not only had I not done anything wrong, but I already had my tow there and was in the process of leaving. The cops didn't end up coming, I guess it was just another lie. If you want honest work on your car, stay away from this place. Paul, if you read this, please see this link for an explanation of the real issue. https://www.knowyourparts.com/technical-resources/starting-and-charging/starters-and-alternators-common-misdiagnosis/ Your misdiagnosis almost cost me more than $1k. I had my car towed here because my car wouldn't start. They said the problem was a faulty fuel pump which would cost over a thousand dollars. I asked if they could put a used one in because I don't plan on having the car much longer, they said no. I needed my car finished sooner than later so I gave the OK to fix it. When I picked up my car it died in the middle of the street right before I got home. I called them immediately and they sent up a mechanic who put fuel in my car, still no start. They refunded my money and I had to have it towed to another place. At the other place I was told that Professional Automotive overcharged me by at least 200.00 for the fuel pump and they weren't sure why they would give me such an astronomical price since the vw dealership sells them for much less. I do not recommend going here. The problem ended up being a gasket on the fuel line which was under 300.00 to fix! read more

I called on a Friday evening before closing to see if I could get and inspection over the weekend since my sticker was expired. They offered me and 8am appointment on Saturday and I gladly took it. I was amazed to see how clean and comfortable the waiting room was! Did not smell like a garage. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. The man at the counter was professional as well as the guy who returned my car to me. Thanks for making this a painless experience :) read more

I have been coming here for 4 years. Paul and Rick are great, very honest and upfront. They are thorough in looking over car and give a heads up when future things might go. They only do what you approve and needs to be done. They are not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. However, if you plan on keeping your car long term, this is the place to go and will save money long term. read more

I have used Professional Automotive for several years now since moving to the area and they have always been honest, courteous and professional with me. They will often recommend against doing unnecessary repairs if they are not cost effective for older cars, which is appreciated. I highly recommend them! read more

I didn't have the most extensive repair work done, but a flat tire on a busy Saturday afternoon definitely felt stressful. I called and they told me to come right over to see if it could be repaired. I was in and out in ~20 minutes and they even noticed my inspection was due this month and took care of that for me. Again, this doesn't sound like much but their level of prompt service got me out of a jam and I plan on returning in the future. read more

This is hands down the best place I have ever taken my car for service. I mostly communicate with Paul, who always provides an exceptional customer experience. I always get a call once they've assessed my car if they've found something that needs to be addressed and am provided with a detailed explanation of the issue as well as an accurate estimate for the work. If you are looking for an exceptional place to bring your car for regular maintenance or for something unexpected, I highly recommend Professional!! read more

I have been wanting to write this review for a while. I took my 2004 4Runner and my wife's RAV4 in and they were awesome. They know their stuff. The guys there are friendly, professional, courteous, nice, honest, etc. They gave me options. They gave me suggestions with reasons why and why not. Half the time the suggestions were the less expensive options as it was better for me as the client. They type of place that says "if it was my truck, I would do..." and they meant it. Do not hesitate to go there. read more

I've spent a lot of money on mine and my son's car, trying to keep them running in this bad economy and in the last few years it's been mostly spent at Professional Automotive. While I can't find any fault with the work they've done, I'm extremely disappointed by recent attitudes and bad treatment. We all have bad days, but when you run a business you have to put that away. Several times I've noticed a barely concealed attitude, but my poor son felt the brunt of it the last time he was there. We will not be back and we will not recommend this business. If they don't have time for one customer, then two customers have no time for them. read more

Saw the amazing people again this year for my inspection and some other work and once again they were honest, timely, fair, friendly and did not disappoint. Will never go anywhere else. Love these guys! read more

I thought there was something majorly wrong with my car so I set up an appointment for a diagnostic. When I arrived Scott got in my car and we drove around a bit so he could get a better sense of what I was trying to describe with drivability issues. Left my car for a diagnostic and they fully checked out my car and to my surprise there were no major issues! They even fixed a minor fender well which they included for free in the diagnostic. Paul at the front desk gave me a breakdown of a few things I should consider getting fixed in the near future and told me that there was no reason to get them done now as it was not going to be a drivability or safety issue. A very easy experience with professional automotive and an honest bunch of people. Will come back to have the recommended maintenance done in the near future. A+ read more

My 2014 Subaru Outback developed an issue that made the car "buck/surge". During a mandatory service for a recall, I had Village Subaru of Acton check the bucking issue, along with a few other smaller repairs I would like to have fixed. Admittedly they didn't perform a full service, but with a quick look over they advised the bucking could be a transmission repair and quoted me (along with the other items) 8k. I knew that didn't sound correct and took it to a garage that didn't do repairs and they too felt I should have it looked by someone else. Fortunately, I found Professional Automotive in Marlboro online, called and chatted with Paul, who was very professional and actually listened to my concerns, set up a reasonable appointment and offered me a free loaner car. They not only confirmed it wasn't the transmission, but that a few of the other items the Subaru service dept told I would probably need was not correct either. And they did find something that needed to done as well. All said in done, they had the car up and smoothly running the day after I dropped it off and it feels better than ever. Oh and it cost $1650.00 for all the work I had done (a far cry from the quoted 8k which I never would have paid). I HIGHLY recommend Professional Automotive and will use them again if and when I need my car repaired. I'm spreading the word...and It's worth the drive from Concord!! read more

I am also surprised by any bad review. My wife and I have been loyal customers of Professional Automotive since they've opened (1996?) Their service is excellent and so is the quality of their work. Always "Professional". I have been going to Professional Automotive since 1998 & I have always been treated with respect. Over the years at different shops I have had repairmen tell me to have my husband give them a call, Ladies, none of that here! Quality work at a reasonable price. read more

I have been a customer for at least the past 10 years and have had over 3 different vehicles serviced there. I originally found them through searching through reviews on the internet. They were by far the most recommended in the area. They have always done an excellent job diagnosing and maintaining my car or truck. They were close to where I worked and since my job has relocated I travel the 40 miles when I need anything more serious than an oil change or sticker. I trust them wholeheartedly and would recommend them to anyone looking to have quality workmanship done to their vehicle. read more

The bottom line is this------ I got all the repairs you estimated done for $289 with new parts verses your estimate for $1,095.
