When we researched the amount of the part and how much they supposedly charge an hour they were over charging us at least $90. When we called them on it, they screamed on the phone and said, "Fine! We'll take $100 cash". So we agreed to that number and then not even 5 minutes later they called and said, "Forget it. We took out the new part and put back the old. Deal off" So we had to tow it to another autoshop. It's as if they got upset because we called them out trying to overcharge us then they retracted their deal out of pride without even trying to rebargin. Unbelievable. Neighborhood Wrench (NW) told me I needed an engine and assured me that my 21 year old car was "In…read morepristine condition" and worth having it done, so I ended up agreeing to it. When I picked up my car, Doug gave me a invoice with extra parts that I paid for that were NEVER discussed with me and were working fine. Doug called me sometime later to see how my car was running. I thought that was odd, but I told myself he was just being nice and I told him it was running ok. A few days later, my engine light came on and it started running horribly. I thought I had developed another problem with my car. Some time after that, Doug called me again. The first time he called me I told him my car was running ok, so I thought it was really odd he was calling me again. I did not answer his call. I then discovered my car was misfiring on the #6 cylinder because they installed two #1 ignition wires on my engine, one on the #6 cap and plug that was also badly cracked. I had also put brand new plugs in my car right before I took my car to NW, and I also discovered that the plugs in my engine were burnt and rusted. They were not my new plugs. Have you ever had your car repair shop call you once after you picked up your car? How about twice? Is it possible that Doug was calling me because he was expecting my car to malfunction so he could have me bring my car back to him to "fix?" Doug said this is ridiculous. Is it? Doug wrote on my invoice that all new parts were put in the replacement engine, and he told me that all old parts in the replacement engine were removed before installation. They were not. Doug also told me that I needed a new radiator because it was full of rust. I looked in it after I found the cracked wire and rusted plugs, and it was full of rust. See photo. Doug told me that not transferring my plugs was "AN" honest mistake and that my car was running perfectly when it left their shop and I was "misinformed" if I thought that putting "wires" (one wire, not two, and badly cracked-see photo) in the wrong order would cause my car to malfunction after driving it for some time. It did! "AN" honest mistake is one mistake, not five: 1 They did not transfer my new plugs into my replacement engine. 2 They did not take the old parts out of the replacement engine and left the old plugs in it. 3 They installed an incorrect wire in the wrong firing order. 4 The wire was badly cracked. 5 They replaced my radiator because it was full of rust and it was still full of rust. Doug's explanation in his own words for installing parts he never discussed with me: "Your upset that we replaced parts without talking to you, this was all part of doing the job properly so we can stand behind it." "your plan was to keep the car running as long as possible, as such it was the obvious thing to do." The OBVIOUS thing to do was to talk to me first! It is my car, my money my decision, not yours! Doug replaced my clutch and tried to make me feel that spending $648.55 for clutch parts that has nothing to do with how the engine ran and was working fine, was a deal because he "only" charged me for parts. ONLY?? I had no idea if he did or didn't charge me labor as he did not list labor charges per parts installed on my invoice. After the AGO contacted Doug, he produced the breakdown of labor for my parts, and just as I suspected, he DID charge me labor for my clutch! NW charged me for a clutch, water pump, cap and rotor, gaskets, seals, manifold, thermostat, and I paid $1,031.75 for a fuel injector and bracket, all without discussing any of it with me. I think he saw me as an easy mark because I am a woman in my 60's, and he knew he was highly recommended to me and I trusted him. Doug wrote on my invoice that my replacement engine with "88k" miles was documented, but when I requested that documentation, I was told Rick must have done it as Doug didn't know anything about it or have it, but he could give me the receipt from the junk yard. When I called and asked him for the junk yard receipt, he told me he had "just cleaned house" inferring that he threw it away, and then ignored my other attempts to get it. He did send me the receipt after I sent him a certified letter, and the receipt does not indicate mileage. I believed that the new replacement engine would increase my cars resale value, but I spent thousands on an engine and I did not get any documentation on it or proof it actually has 88k miles on it. Doug was the one who gave me the bill. I am assuming he prepared it and or read it before giving it to me, and if they don't actually have any documentation, why was it written on my invoice? Fraudulent Business Practices? When I told Doug I would talk to Rick, I was told that I couldn't because he doesn't work there anymore. Really?? Aren't they related? Doug did reimburse me for my spark plugs and nothing else, but I now don't believe I even needed an engine in the first place.

It proves all that I've claimed (and they denied) This review, although long, may be helpful to non savvy automotive people. First and foremost, I was a dealer technician for over 20 years mostly for German and Swedish car dealers. That was after being diesel mechanic in the military for over 8 years. Since then, I've gotten into other things so my time has been limited. We also own 8 vehicles so I sometimes sublet some repairs, such as my wifes Mercedes ML350 just last week with Joe's automotive. This is the diesel version which has been amazing for 7 years. Never once has it failed. I'm pretty sure it has (never) even had a check engine light on since we've owned it. Anyway, it needed some fairly simple maintenance stuff and took it to Joe's. The two main things neded: new motor mounts and serpentine belt along with an oil change. I supplied the parts from a very reputable online supply house (FCP Euro) that Joe agreed to install by phone days before. This was the first time I've ever used this shop. I agreed to bring it in on Saturday (4/11/26) he said more than once that he'd only be there until "exactly 12" - and he knew we were coming. We got there at 11:42 and the place was locked up tighter than a drum, rude. I ended up writing everything down again on the key drop envelope and left it. Days later, he calls back trying to sell me that it's all set. It was close to his closing time so I said we'd be there in the morning. Luckily, I called in the morning before leaving. Joe then explains that our vehicle is "barely running" and in limp mode. I thought he was kidding at first. He seemed totally stumped as to what was wrong which was concerning to say the least. Hours later, he calls and trys to sell me a sensor that should NEVER have been touched for my requested work, I thought, (nonsense) part was fine. Then explains that I have an aluminum turbo intake pipe that is also broken, and leaking air. A pipe THEY needed to REMOVE to access the serpentine belt. Joe then tells me that it was "broken previously" and talked in circles. He went on and on how these things can happen "out of nowhere" not knowing I was a mechanic as well, at the time. He then complained about how much time he had "wasted" on this vehicle and reminded me again, he wanted it gone. Hours later he called and assured me that it was now "fixed" and we should come soon. It was once again, almost shop closing time so I explained that we'd have to come the following late morning which he didn't seem happy about. I arrived there without any bad attitude, none. I'm well aware that things break, and I wanted to go over everything in person. I simplywanted to "see" what happened and pay the bill. However, in my experience, mechanics are like some cops.... they don't like to have their SAY "questioned" even when wrong. SO, we pop the hood on my wifes vehicle and my jaw nearly dropped (some pictures attached) I've NEVER seen such hack work in my entire life. Not only was it beyond shoddy work, it said: I don't care about your vehicle, or your safety and I'm going to lie to your face and get "huffy" when you don't buy the bs. He ran a BOLT that was flopping around (threaded to nothing) jammed between live fuel lines to support the turbo intake that THEY broke. I immediately said.... wow! I've never seen something like this, it's not even safe. I still WAS NOT nasty about it. Joe however went ON and ON about how they didn't do it, I can't prove it, it's old (every excuse you can imagine) Just sat behind the desk sounding like Joe Pesci denying everything. ** However! I just recently replaced the fuel and air filters on this same vehicle. As my usual practice, I took pictures of the engine so everything goes back to factory specs. In these couple of pictures it shows my turbo intake, NOT BROKEN which I showed to Joe.... he yet still continued to DENY, because... he's a liar. Funny thing is, if they told me it broke, I wouldn't have cared. While still in the office, waiting to pay the BILL that he didn't have prepared, his wife threatened to "Call da' POLICE" I actually laughed and offered to do the same. As I went outside and started the Mercedes, I immediatly noticed that the radio, climate control not working as well as "SOS" flashing on the dash. None of which were EVER an issue. Of course, Joe knew nothing about that on an 89 degree day, after his "road test" I poked my head in the door and asked about it just prior to leaving. Within 6-7 miles driving home, it lost power and we needed to have it towed. Instead of fixing his horrid work myself, I'm having it towed to Mercedes of Springfield and will file suit of all expenses. Joe did everything except set the vehicle on fire.

I had R&R change a water pump for me and I was really happy with the work that David the owner did…read more After driving just under 15,000 miles the water pump died again and I bought my vehicle back in thinking it would be covered under warranty. After David looked at it I went back in to talk to him and he tells me that I had a blown head gasket and it would cost $6,000 to get it fixed. I told him to put it back together and I would fix it myself. When I got it home I noticed parts were missing and hoses weren't connected. After further investigation I realized that the head gasket was not blown and it was just a water pump. Water pumps are suppose to last 80,000 to 100,000 miles. David the owner ether has lack of knowledge on how to diagnose or he was trying to scam me out of $6,000. I would never go back or recommend this shop to anyone.
