Checked in with us on his way to our house and once he got our vehicle to the dealership he again checked in and reassured us, it was there safety and the key had been dropped in the required box. Called AAA for a very flat tire and Pancho from Walter C. Cranston & Son responded. He went above and beyond to try to get my spare tire free from its rusted bracket. He did not have the tools to do it, but he towed me to a local repair shop (L&M), who he told me he trusted. They did not disappoint either. Although Steve was very helpful getting my car in and out on time I think that the mechanic who worked on my car was running a scam first $500.00 then $1700.00 I said I was not going to pay to the $1700.00 and was picking up my car. Went in to pick it up they charged me $125.00 for a diagnostic fee when they should have had caught it before, Not a trust worthy place to bring you vehicles. read more

They tried to pull the auto parts scam on me. I told them exactly the issue , knew exactly the part needed , knew the cost of the part and its availability. They tried charging me for three hours of labor to take apart the steering column. Here is the thing. They didn't do any of that. I have the pics. They tried telling me they had to buy a whole column from a junkyard for 600 bucks. That it would take months to get the part since it was on back order and even still it was expensive. I can buy the cylinder and two new blades for 150 and have it over nighted for free on Amazon. So I paid them the 250 to get away from them and get my car out of their hands , called a tow truck , and waited till it was picked up and sent to a place that won't try to scam me. Debating filing a small claims against them to deter them from trying to do this again. The way they tried repeatedly to tell me fairy tales was impressive but super easy to see through. Guys. Cranston & Son responded to a AAA call for a tire change after a picked up a huge piece of metal driving by a construction zone. The AAA information had them coming in 59 minutes. I decided to start changing my tire on my own. Driver arrived as I was getting the tire off the car (maybe 15 minutes after initiating service call). Friendly and took over for me. The driver offered a non-AAA service of doing a permanent tire plug on site for $25. He then had the tire back on the car and me on my way in another 10 minutes. He saved me the time of getting a tire repair and the safety of having to NOT drive with a spare/donut on the vehicle. Awesome service option, friendly and helpful. read more

Their tow truck drivers are poorly trained or complete imbeciles. They COMPLETELY blocked a rather busy street in town for nearly FIFTEEN MINUTES around noon time to load a car out of a driveway. Definitely NOT an emergency call. Thankfully no emergency vehicles had to get by but a LOT of people were needlessly delayed by these idiots. I wouldn't be trusting my vehicle to a shop like this. read more

Overall very poor repair and customer service. They installed a part incorrectly and I had to get it redone at another shop (I had moved and could not go back to the shop). I talked to the owner who agreed to reimburse me for some of the cost of the original service. Despite multiple reminders, he never did. Owner is unprofessional and untrustworthy. In 2018 I purchased a Nissan Altima for $2k from the owner(?) of the company, one of my first cars, so was young & didn't pay attention to bad signs like I would have now. They seem to sell a new car out front of their lot every week, I have to assume all of them are lemons at this point. The entire air intake system fell out of my car within 2 days while driving on the highway. They didn't even tighten the bolts on it I assume, lucky it didn't cause an accident. Had many more problems with the car afterwards, which I also assumed were their to begin with but not entirely sure. Looking back on it, definitely got ripped off on this car and would never trust this company or the owner again. read more

If you'd like to support a local company that I have seen careening down my 25mph road at speeds approaching 45mph, then you found the right place. The one time the did slow down, the driver stopped in front of my house to add power steering fluid to his tow truck. Then he threw the empty container on my lawn. Beware of this place. The owner is extremely unprofessional and completely untrustworthy. I had my car towed out of there before I allowed any work to be done. It was well worth the unauthorized charge of $150.00 to get my keys back rather than allow them to overcharge for unnecessary work or overinflated labor hours which were unnecessary with a reputable mechanic who understands foreign cars. I would recommend either Rob Stacy or Gardner Automotive both are located in West Boylston both have better reputations than Cranston. read more

I first encountered this auto shop years after I was in a car accident in the area and my car was towed there. I had trouble getting my insurance company to send someone out to look at the car, as the accident was other drivers fault. My car was in storage at Cranston for about a month, and they only charged me a three day storage fee. Since then I have gotten minor repairs at Cranston when I am working or going to school in the area. Always have great service, and fair prices at Cranston. If I lived closer I would consider having them as my regular service station, and highly recommend them. I like when I am in there area when I have to call AAA for service. they are one of my favorite AAA service stations. read more

I was referred to them by AAA. I called in for information on a service I was looking at getting. The person who picked up the phone was horribly rude. I know very little about cars and so it's natural I might have a few questions. But he wasn't having it, he started getting upset because I was asking too many questions. Only got 1 star because 0 wasn't an option. Had my car towed there and after 7 days of being there they had still not even looked at my car. called them everyday and they repeatedly told me that they were going to heck the car out very soon. Eventually someone told me they thought it was a fuel pump, to which they needed to wait until the next day and would call me about pricing for the parts. After waiting for the call all morning I called them myself to have another person tell me they still haven't looked at it. This is by far the worst service I have ever been given. Have your car towed anywhere else if you want your car to actually get fixed. I eventually had my car towed to another garage and it was diagnosed and repaired in 1 day. read more

Great local shop. My family has been going here for like 20 years. Good guys, good service and fair prices. Randy runs the shop well, and takes good care of us and our vehicles. I've run down there a few times when I was having a hard time working on the car at home and he's helped me out on the spot doing little things like prying off a stuck wiper arm.
