Brought my escape in on a Tuesday first thing in morning. They never looked at it that day. Next day said it needed a new windshield motor. Ordered part and installed the next day called to see if ready. NO. They discovered that the other motor needed replacement apparently there's 2 motors. Next day car finished in afternoon total? Over $700 dollars!!! Charged 250 + per motor. Available on line for around 100 bucks. The rest in labor! I think I need new shop!! My bad I thought my husband had an appointment so I do apologize. I have been taking my car here for several years now. They do excellent work and the cost has been reasonable each time. I drive an old hoopty (2006 Honda Civic baby!!) and this shop has been instrumental in keeping my car on the road They even rescued me once when I couldn't get two of my windows to roll up. We were expecting an ice storm within hours and they said if you can get it here, we'll get your windows up. And they did! I always have a good experience at Gardner Automotive. They explain any problems that might be plaguing my car and offer what options I have for repair. Recently, I brought my car in for repair and there were multiple issues. It would have been costly but they were able to tell me which items had to be fixed immediately and which items could be wait a little bit before being repaired. On March 14, 2022, I brought my vehicle in for an inspection sticker. I got the sticker alright, but also something else I didn't expect: As I drove away, I noticed an old, used 'Trump" sticker in my beverage holder. When I bring my vehicle in, I pay for SERVICE to the vehicle, not someone's "biased political opinion" from a mechanic. I had no idea the 'red state' was alive and well in West Boylston, Ma. All that was missing was a MAGA hat and a Confederate flag n the window. How about some professionalism next time, or is that too much to ask from Trump supporters? read more

PSA... Avoid at all costs... literally. They have ZERO customer service. We have gone to General Automotive a number of times considering we are right in the neighborhood. My latest experience involved my car being towed there from triple A. Upon calling the next day, the woman (did not catch her name) was very argumentative for no reason at all. I even called her out on it saying I was not looking to argue I was asking questions. Then when they finally looked at my car they claimed that it was pretty much totaled saying it would be $2000+ to fix. I immediately started looking for new cars since I was shocked with this finding. We even called back 2-3 more times to make sure we had all the information and they continued with the same story. A few hours later, They called us back letting us know that they made a mistake. I understand mistakes happen, like the next person, but this is the second mistake they made. The first was my boyfriend brought his car and they were going to work on it. They called to say it was ready for pickup, he paid, left... and the car seemed to be making the same noises. He called letting them know and their response was that they forgot to do the work and that he needed to come back. There was no discount for his inconvenience. When this was mentioned to G.A that this is the second big mistake that they have made they made no effort to eradicate the situation and refused to offer even a 10% discount, as frequent flyers at their business. Or experience is very unpleasant. Once my boyfriend informed them that it was not about the money, but the principle, they had nothing to say in response. He said he would tell friends/colleagues of the experience and the two behind the desk responded a sarcastic "thanks" as he walked out the door. Steer clear. I am down for helping local businesses but will never, ever, ever return back. read more

I couldn't agree more from the previous review about the daughter's husband. The way he speaks to customers is unacceptable. I'm sure they have lost customers including myself. Gardner has changed since the owner isn't there anymore. Time sure changes things and it's definitely changed the customer service they once had. It's a big world out there with shop owners who care about great customer service and great workmanship on your vehicle to put up with this. I will never go back there either. read more

I had my A/C Compressor replaced at Gardner Auto. They gave me a certain quote, but I asked they put in a serpentine belt too. The cost worked out to exactly the quote even with the new part. They were honest about finishing quicker than usual. Most shops charge by the job and if they are quicker it doesn't matter. I was very pleased. Also, I have been using Gardner Automotive to do pre-purchase mechanical inspections for private party cars I buy. They do a wonderful job diagnosing potential problems which helps with price negotiating. Great Mechanic! read more

I went here yesterday afternoon to get my car inspected after my room mate recommended the place. It was Halloween and of course the last day of the month so there were a couple people in the waiting area with me enjoying my costume. Gardner instantly made me feel at home and they've always been honest and understanding when recommending work. I stopped in because I was nearby and what I needed was very simple. I have a great garage that I normally use, but chose Gardner for pure convenience at the time.They tried quoting me dealership-level markups for parts that have been on the market for years; then, when asked simple questions their attitude quickly went south. Maybe I'm just biased from what I'm used to from having a long-term-garage-relationship... but this place just didn't seem to care about customer service. Probably because there wasn't much money in it for them (~$300 total parts and labor). From other sites' reviews I get the sense that the previous owners were a lot better and likely their customer base is made up of loyal carry-overs from the previous ownership (the other 4 reviews??). Fabulous experience. I was referred by my girlfriend, who had the same. Got 4 tires changed on a car that can be a pain in the ass, and they were prompt and polite and helpful as all get-out. Dropped off my car in the morning and and picked it up after work! Totally painless: no pushy stuff to fix other stuff on my car, just a helpful offer to give me a new windshield wiper because it was torn, and it was raining out! Felt genuinely thoughtful. Honest people here. After a long string of issues with my car Gardner auto solved the problem that others couldn't and for a fair price to for major work. Staff is always friendly and actually explains things for you and helps you along the way. Some garages tell you all these extra things. Gardner just wants to help you and fix the issues you have. People locally have said its changed since the original owner retired but clearly his quality and customer service is still alive here with the girls in the front. I'm back on the Gardner train and will pass the word around. Highly recommended! read more

Have been going here to get my stickers for all 3 of my cars since I moved to Worcester 11 years ago. Went in a couple months ago for a sticker and I failed for passengers side ball joints. When I failed I asked why and was told we can't tell without taking it apart but something is loose. Had a friend that has been working on cars his whole life and is a certified Master mechanic look at it as well as a dealership in Auburn. Both told me a very little loose but not bad enough to fail. Brought it back for a recheck as they both told me to do. Brought it back and they no questions asked took it to check. Came back and said it's to loose no way that can pass. I asked the guy of he could show me so I could see and show my friend that told me it was ok. Well as soon as I asked the dude lost his shit and said NO. I said I just want to see what's wrong so I know and his response was "I don't give a shit what you want we have shit to do I don't have time for that" I looked at the lady working who I believe is the owners daughter and said are you shitting me all I want is to see what's wrong. The guy then walked out back and yelled go out back we will show you and slammed the door. I said to the lady as the owner you are ok with your employees talking to your customers like that. Her response was that is my husband. Well shit that is even worse then lady. Im was nothing but respectfull and this dude went nuts over a simple request. I'm sorry but if that's OK to let your husband speak to customers that way that is not only unacceptable but clearly he does not care about you or your business. Because simply there is not excuse to talk to your technically bosses/wife's customers that way. read more

Definitely 5 stars! Family-run business. They're polite helpful they have a tremendous sense of Integrity when dealing with their customers. Very professional. I have been going to them for a number of years now. I would recommend them to anybody who wants quality work on a vehicle. At a reasonable price. They do inspection stickers, brakes, alignments, oil changes, tune-up, all kinds of car repair and maintenance. They take the time to explain things to you, which I haven't had with a lot of garages. i've only been to these guys a few times but i think they do good work and their prices are fair. i generally go to Cranston's down the street, but had to go to Gardner when Cranston's couldn't fit me in and i needed work done that day. so yeah, good full service place. i appreciate it when a garage takes you back to show you what is actually going on with the car (where the coolant leak is, etc). read more
