I went in wanting dip but didn't like the colors, so I picked a sparkly brown gel instead. It turned out bright red! I told Cathy, my nail tech it wasn't what I wanted, and she insisted it was the one I picked. Then she tried to fix it with putting brown polish over the red, which just made it look worse -- messy and uneven. At the end, she admitted the brown I picked was regular polish and she just used the same number in gel, which was red. She didn't clean my cuticles, filed my nails unevenly, and rushed through everything. I left with nails that looked awful. Never again. I've been getting my nails done forever and this was the absolute WORSE! Save your time and money and don't go here! read more

We made appointments 4 days before the scheduled date. They did it ask us if we wanted basic or deluxe. Upon arrival they told us they were out of paraffin and said they didn't have time for anything but a basic pedicure. This hasn't happened before however nothing was done to recover the situation! The whole salon seemed to be occupied doing other things and not focusing on the customers in the salon. Great local place to get your nails done. It's nothing fancy, but is clean and the results are pretty consistent. I get gel nails every time and every couple of visits I get a regular pedicure. Price is $25 for a gel manicure and $30 for a regular pedicure in the spa chair. The color selection is good and they have coordinating colors for gel nails and regular pedicures. They accept walk-ins but find it's best to give them a call and verify if they have time before heading in. It's pretty rare they can't accommodate me within 15ish minutes. That gives me just enough time to get there from my house so it works out. I've been coming here for about 6ish months now and have only had one slightly disappointing pedicure. Some girls are definitely better than others at painting my short nails but that's normal and I'm okay with it. I don't see a particular nail technician... again they've all done a good job. I went to this nail salon for the first time today and it was not a good experience. The woman who did my mani/pedi did a very poor job. She cut me twice and just skimmed over my cuticles without really trimming much. She kept rubbing the nail file across all of the tops of my toes as she attempted to file one of my toe nails. She painfully dug her nails into me as she tried to hold my toes while painting them. I felt like I was being punked. Just waiting for Ashton Kutcher to come through the door laughing. Even the nail lady who was sitting next to her doing my daughter's pedicure appeared to be watching her with concern. She was just really awkward and uncoordinated while she worked. I just wanted out of there. It was also pretty drab inside. Not what I was hoping for. And their prices were much higher than where I had been going. I will not return. read more

Tonight the technician did not know what she was doing.. she filled the pink with a different shade of pink and it looks completely wrong.. the technician told me to not worry about paying and to come back tomorrow to have them fixed and pay then.... she then proceeded to call me and tell me to never come back to pro nails.. very unprofessional. You would think that having the manager of the business would guarantee quality and kind service. In this case, you would think wrong. Manager Kien (as is noted on her gold name plaque that no other technician has) is the rudest person I have ever encountered in a customer setting. My friend and I came in a little later than usual (6:30) but called ahead to make sure they would be able to to a full set and gel before closing at 7. She assured us it would be okay and so we went, seeing as our first second and third choices were closed already. When we got there we were sat at complete opposite sides of the salon, with nobody but her an I there but whatever, we let it slide. I arrived asking for a simple pink to white ombré acrylic nail which at ALL other places both in California where I'm originally from and in Reno was a max of $40 for a full set. She proceeded to tell me that it would be $35 for the acrylics, $5 for a coffin shape (uhm excuse me I have never heard of being charged extra for filing my nails a certain shape), $10 extra for the ombré, and then $10 extra for gel on top, and that she WOULD NOT do the ombré unless I did gel, totaling me at $60. I told her that was ridiculous and that I wanted just regular nail polish on my acrylics. Obviously angry that I didn't feed into her bullshit pricing, she charged me an extra $5 for my nails being "long acrylics" which in the photo you can see is false. Rude service continued when I scuffed my nail and she had to redo 1 nails polish. When I went to pay, she asked me how much I wanted to charge on the card to which I said "$40." The amount of just the nails implying she would not get a tip. She scoffed and charged the card the amount, later trying to be kind and funny as we left hoping I would reach into my pocket for a tip. And the results? Less than average nail polish job on top of somewhat average acrylics. This place is terrible. There are so many better places in reno and if you're thinking about "Pro Nails", don't. The "pro" stands for professional swindlers and professional rudeness. read more

I recently moved back to northwest Reno and after having a couple negative experiences at another salon I decided to try Pro Nails. I've been twice now in the last 4-6 weeks and both times the experience was good. As others have mentioned this is a very average nothing special or fancy nail salon. However, what sets them apart for me and why I chose to leave a review is because both times they have taken their time with my pedicure even as a walk in customer. The service never felt rushed and they paid close attention to detail. I had two different women and both were very kind, polite and professional. But no smiles, no greetings or even response to when I smiled and said, "How are you?" to two technicians. O'well. Can't win them all. Day two after my gel pedi and six out of ten toes gel is lifting, curling or peeling away. Polish on cuticles, peeling gel polish, rude, unfriendly. I take my daughter for our shared birthday to get pedicures every year. My daughter had a great experience, had a very nice lady but my experience was horrible! I'm not one to complain but this was pretty terrible. I got a young man to do my pedicure. He saw my toenails and scoffed "you do these yourself?" I said yes. He says "I can tell!" Ok I've got thick skin, comment ignored. Then he gets to my heels. I have my moms rough heels. I also paint for a living and have 2 kids. My feet get ignored. He said (loudly) "these are crusty!" He proceeded to say that a few times and loudly! Then he looks at my daughter and told her that my feet are crusty! He said "I'll have to get out my tools, my power tools." Ok they're not that bad. Then he moaned with disgust as he did the pumice stone. Moaned and moaned I had it! I said " ok, I need someone else to finish my toenails." I said you're rude and have been this entire time!" He apologized and finished the job. That might not be everyone's experience but I figured I'd share to warn people. Especially if you're sensitive or it's your birthday! Prepared to get humiliated! Quality sucked ...had a mani with few designs that I ended up having them buffed off , no symmetry whatsoever, guess the cellphone call and the person she was talking with in the earbuds was more important then the paint job. While clipping and filing my cuticles and skin around my nail was very uncomfortable. Gel was on my skin beside the actual nail , roughly filed off with a nail file then buffed my cuticle on my pinky till it bled!! Run far....far away ....rude, condescending. Still paid for a lousy nail job and let her keep the tip!! Won't be back !! By the way my friend had pedis done from them for years and ALWAYS had some type of toenail fungus, nails lifting from her nail bed .. My daughter and I have come here on and off for years. Yeah, maybe it was mediocre at best but we always enjoyed our time there. Today that sadly ends as one of their staff members (the one that sits immediately to the right when you walk in) decided it was acceptable to call my 8 year old child, chubby. Mind you, her height and weight are appropriate for her size/age and she's extremely physically active, not at all "chubby". Not only were we offended but some of their other customers also found it extremely inappropriate. Today, my 8 year old child left the nail salon from being on a mommy daughter date, with a grown woman insulting her. I will never recommend this place to anyone ever again and will gladly spread the word to others of this incredibly sad experience.
