I was a walk-in, wanting to get my toenails done for my wedding day. I'd come in an hour before closing. I was greeted promptly, told to get a color, and a pedicure chair was selected for me to sit in. I waited for about 10 minutes before my service started. There was only one nail tech available and he was finishing someone's manicure before he could get to me. The lady who had sat me went back behind the front counter to continue a phone conversation. The salon itself is very beautiful and the vibe was calm. Once my service started, I let the massage chair do its thing and tried to relax. The nail tech first started by clipping my nails. Overall, the length was fine. Later in my service, he poured alcohol all over my toes. I have some cuts on my toes and the way I tried not to scream... He didn't just do this once, but twice! Never has someone just doused my toes and that pain was horrendous. As he was used the callus remover, I felt significant pain. He scrubbed at my big toe callus for WAY too long, and my toe started to ache. When he was massaging my legs, he kept smacking my feet, which felt pointless. He grabbed the baby blue polish I had selected and started to paint my toes. He couldn't find a top coat at first, but did before my service was finished. I wanted to dry my polish under the blower before leaving, and he made it feel like it was an inconvenience that I would ask. As I was sitting there trying to be protective of his work, he came back with his things, ready to go home, and basically told me it was time to go. I left a 20% tip and walked carefully to my car. Upon further inspection when I got home, I was beyond disappointed. The blue paint was streaky and the top coat didn't cover all the paint. I had told this man I was getting married and the sheer frustration I felt looking at my toes was upsetting. I didn't go back to have him fix it because I figured I wouldn't be able to tell in the photos. But still, I would rather be told, 'No, we don't have time', than fudged through the process. I took a chance to call Lucky Nails earlier and was so happy when I was told to come now. I was dying for some me time and needed a pedicure for these old, tired feet of mine. It had been a month since my last pedicure, and I had already had a long day at a seminar. I thought I would take advantage of having a sitter and sneak a pedicure on my way to pick up my younger two. I couldn't have picked a more perfect day to come. It was very quiet from check-in, and I was able to head straight to my chair and relax. Jackie had everything set up for me and gave me the best pedicure I've had in years. Lucky nails used to be my go-to since high school. I grew up in the area, and NW Reno will always be my home! Although under different ownership, this place gives me nostalgia. I was honestly petrified walking in this place after reading the horrific Yelp reviews, but I recently did a peeling mask, and my feet needed some work big time. I decided to go with the cheapest package just in case the Yelp reviews were right that way I wouldn't have been that mad. Well, let me tell you, that $40 was $40 well spent. It was clean and comfortable and they played great music! Nicki had the best personality, and she is great at what she does. I came in here at 6pm on a Friday to see if I could get a last minute gel manicure and a pedicure. Luckily for me, they had time to work on me! One technician worked on my hands and another on my feet. Both ladies did a wonderful job cleaning up my nail beds and filing my nails down short, which is what I requested. My feet and hands both feel amazing and my nails will go nicely with the outfit I am wearing to attend a wedding tomorrow. All told, it was $60.00 for a basic pedicure and gel manicure. I had errands to run close by and figured I'd stop and see if I could get a pedicure. I hadn't been in this place in about 2 years and boy has this place gone downhill. It was dark, I don't think all of the lights were on or they didn't have all the light bulbs in, not sure which. It was quiet and felt a little depressed. I should've taken that as a sign to bounce. I didn't have an appointment, they only had 2 people working and they were nice and asked if I could come back in one hour. Where do I begin with the actual pedicure service..... the nail lady was so slow and actually seemed as tho she needed a nap or something was definitely wrong with her. The rest of the poor service is as follows: She didn't cut my toenails straight across like I asked her to. She didn't scrub the bottoms of my feet, she actually scraped once or twice and once across the top of my left foot which hurt. She nipped at the cuticles on two toes of each foot but didn't trim any cuticles. She also tried to leave my nails jagged and gave me a dirty look when I asked her to file it. She slopped the paint all over my toe .... Idk it was hands down the most horrible pedicure I've ever had. This is my first Yelp EVER. Let's just say I feel horribly sorry for whoever ends up here next. I went today with a two friends and we walked in and were the only people there. That was a bad sign to start! First thing is NONE of them were wearing gloves and they DID NOT use bowl liners in the water tub which is insanely unsanitary. Another bad start! I suffer from ingrown toe nails from years of basketball. The lady began to dig in at them and blamed me for having bad ingrown nails. I told her I suffer from them that's why I get pedicures regularly. Anywhere else I've ever been they understand the pain related with cutting ingrown nails. Not today! She just started digging so deep to where I was almost kicking her and telling her how bad it hurt. She mumbled under her breath and continued on my big toe until I looked down and saw blood. She was annoyed with ME that it happened. She just let my blood go everywhere, all over the towels and equipment she used. So I am SO SORRY for whoever uses that equipment next. She then began to do my gel polish, again toe still gushing blood. Once she was done she grabbed the wax and shoved my foot all in at once. If you've never done this before it is HOT WAX and usually they check to make sure temperature is fine, but no, again she didn't care about any pain. Then she gave the worst massage ever. I truly felt like she just rubbed the lotion on as If one would after a shower. Pulled the wax off and said I was done. The worst pedicure ever. Then when we went to pay she up charged me $25! $50 for pedicure $15 for gel polish (which I was aware of) $10 for picking a "chrome" color which I wasn't aware of. No discount for making me bleed the entire pedicure. I will never be back and hope you don't waste your money here. They have been reported to the cosmetology board. I have given Lucky Nails one too many chances. The only reason I have gone back a few times is because they always fit you in as a walk in. However, that is the only positive about this place. The quality of their work is poor. They rush through the services and try to get you in and out as quickly as they possibly can. I believe I had a pedicure once that was 20 minutes total. I think most are around 30 minutes max. Recently had a hell manicure and not only was the tech slightly aggressive with grabbing each of my hands and shoving them away, the polish only last about 10 days. I typically can get 2-3 weeks out of gel manicure. I will be avoiding Lucky Nails at all costs going forward and would rather take a chance at trying something else nearby. read more

So, my boyfriend got me a $75 gift certificate for this salon for Christmas and I decided to try it out. I wanted a French tip acrylic with a slight flair to it. The outcome was so atrocious that I didn't know what to do. The lines for the white were crooked and jagged and uneven. after thinking about if for a moment I asked sheepishly if she could adjust the style to a regular French tip. Though the lines were "cleaner" the tips did not match on any of my nails. The white was curved at different angles and different thickness on all of them. Not to mention the nails themselves were ALL pulling up and falling off within a week. My friend came with me and got hers done and they were just as bad and fell off even faster than mine. The paint on my nails is also chipping which I have never had happen with a set of acrylics especially in such a short time. The nails themselves had notches on them and acrylic cured over my cuticles and on my skin, then some nails didn't have acrylic all the way down so they looked grown out. Seriously, do not go here. Their skill is minimal, their products are cheap and poor quality. The cherry on top is that I handed them the $75 gift certificate and they still charged me another $20. Worried about cleanliness here, the nail tech used the same gloves on 3 different pedicures that I saw and also cross contaminated by touching everything in the salon while still wearing the same gloves from a pedicure. My nails look pretty, but customer service was a little disappointing. I will say, it was the fastest Full Set of Acrylic Nails that I've ever had! The Nail Tech didn't bother with any pampering services. I wasn't given a hand massage with lotion, as is customary with most manicures. Presence was good and my tech was friendly. Disappointed in communication,service received and products. I went in for a pedi with a friend. She got her norm of just regular polish pedi and i told my tech i wanted gel polish as it is supposed to and always has lasted longer for me. He asked me which pedi pack i wanted and listed out each. I decided to go with the $40 package that included wax. Something my friend recommended and i had never tried. Well let's just say this....i was done in my chair about 20 mins before my friend was done (so they obviously don't all do the same steps or for the same about of time) then at the end was told mine was $70 total. Hers was $40.....When i said what, when he listed the pedi packages i chose the middle one the $40 package the owner without care at all said your total is $70, it's gel. If it was $40 plus $30 cause i was doing gel. That's what should have been said. Instead they didn't reveal that till services were done which to me was very sneaky and tricky. To top it off.....I've never never had a pedi with gel where my polish falls off before I'm ready to get them done again. 3 weeks later and this is what they look like.....2 toe polishes just fell off....theyay have gotten $70 from me once but will never get another penny. When I called them to tell them that I was disappointed in my service, I was told to come down and they would fix it. When I arrived one of the women started a big scene with me making me feel very uncomfortable and belittling me and my understanding of what a proper manicure or pedicure should be. My 14 year old daughter and her friend recently went to Lucky Nails to get a full set of acrylics, with basic polish and not overly long. My daughter was charged $69! This was not with a tip. The listed price for such a service is $45 "and up". We understand the charges can and should vary if there are special polish or extract long nails but does a 55% up charge sound right? Plan and simple, I fell like they took advantage of a young lady. On top of that, the nails started falling off after 4 days. I went in to speak with the owner and she blamed my daughter for the nails falling off after 4 days of service. The owner took no responsibility for, in this instance, their customer's satisfaction. Went here for the first time last week. I will not be going back. Went in for gel mani and pedi. During pedi I was handed a price sheet and decided to go for the luxury, which included parafin wax. It said it was $20 extra. When I went to leave I was charged $65.00 for the Pedicure and an additional $30 for the gel manicure. Are you kidding me?? The pedi was just your average pedi and the 3 minute wax treatment was in no way worth 65$! As far as the Mani.. she put the polish on leaving a space between the cuticle and the polish so it looked like it was grown out already and after 3 days it was already peeling off.
