Mariel at Re salon is not only a joy to spend 4.5 hours with during corrective color, but she does a great job. I originally went to Re Salon for a toner to cut some red out before a photo shoot (I'm a professional model). The first stylist (not Mariel) recommended after I come in the next day to do more since the toner did nothing except cost me money. I didn't want anything drastic, just tone down the red undertones. Long story short, 6 hours and $260 later, this nice woman dyed my hair brown... This could have really messed things up with my client... as they were expecting a blonde and not a brunette. Frustrated and desperate I call the salon after my shoot to explain my situation. The manager was so kind and understanding, she set up an appointment with Mariel the following Tuesday to fix my hair. While my hair still requires another visit to fully correct the color, Mariel did a lovely job with the full ballayage highlights to take me from brunette to strawberry blonde. The old color still looks red.. It'll take time to not be strawberry. I would go back to Mariel, she listens to what you want and does a great job of explaining what you can expect realistically. I enjoyed an amazing spa day package to celebrate starting a new job. I've lived within blocks of this beautiful spa and salon for the 10 years they have been in business, and have never been inside! My mistake!! It is a beautiful facility and the staff is so friendly and professional. I had one of the very best massages of my life from Briana. She was amazing. She asked a lot of questions about what was bothering me and recommended a special type of massage that really helped! The facial from Cary was also wonderful. While he's adept at all lengths, it's the short lengths where he really shines. He updated my cut to an edgier version that I'm loving. As for color, I visited Autumn for a partial highlight...and was very impressed she focuses on balayage as her technique. The application looks soft and natural and I loved the gloss she applied afterwards. Next time I'll be going a bit darker, though. Price points for both cut and color are mid-range to a touch above. PRAISES to the massage therapist Brian Cole for helping my disabled son before his surgery. Brian uses Myofascial release techniques that helped my son be prepared for his surgery and I could just kiss him at this point. it has made a huge difference in his post op so far. Just got a VI Peel which lasted all of 15 minutes and cost $305, FYI you can purchase this entire peel online for $160 and do it at home yourself. Very disappointed. I also purchased the 12 week weight loss program. To be clear no one knows or understands this program at their office. I asked multiple questions at the front deck that they could not answer. Basically you are paying for B12 and HCG shots. What they advertise online is exactly the following: "Consultation with our medical professional + health overview + recipe book + food diary + appetite suppressant prescription (if needed) + 4 weekly HCG shots + B12" There is no real consultation, there is no recipe book or food diary, no coaching just a weigh in. Wouldn't recommend. As far as a food diary they recommend that you purchase noom or another application, which is understandable but based on the advertisement that was included in the price. I love this place I love it it is so fabulous I can't even stand it. I did a lot of research and I kind of came here on a whim to see if they could do balayage and they nailed it freaking nailed it. Let me start by saying I love my hairdresser (who recently joined the RE SPA team), and it is for that reason, and that reason only, that I probably will return to RE SPA, arguably the most poorly designed salon I've ever been to. Stations are arranged back to back in a long line in the center of a room with a 2 story ceiling, making acoustics an absolute nightmare. Forget relaxing; you'll be lucky if you can hear yourself think with all of the noise. I could not get out of there fast enough. To be clear, I have no issues with their staff (who were all very nice), services or products. However, it's hard to appreciate any these and feel good about paying high end salon prices when the overall experience is miserable. I intend on bringing ear plugs next time and hope that will help. read more

I've been here three times and unfortunately have to return once more since I purchased a package. The estheticians are so kind, knowledgeable, and amazing. However, the receptionists are awful. I've had one enjoyable encounter with a receptionist and now 2 awful encounters. Today's receptionist was rude and condescending and I honestly don't understand why. Interestingly enough, when I checked out with the same receptionist that checked me in, she had sweetened up, and coincidentally an older man was sitting at the front desk with her working on something. I hope the receptionists are given some additional customer service training and then sweeten up permanently. If not, I'm afraid it's not worth the money and hurts the overall experience. I put a lot of time and money into my skincare and being new to town I did a lot of research on where to go. I wanted to support a local med spa vs. a chain and wanted to find an esthetician who cared about my skin as much as my esthetician in my previous city did. I did not get this experience at Rè. When spending over $300 on a facial I expected a higher quality experience than what I received. I felt as though my service was rushed through and not given the customer service experience I would have liked. My skin is now breaking out more than it was prior to the facial. Recently visited Mare for an "Ashiatsu" Massage, and was thoroughly impressed. First off, Re is in the old fire station #2 building... which is a pretty cool building, and though there aren't a lot of parking spaces, there is a free valet service waiting for you out front. Pretty 1st class... I met with Mare and we did a pre-consultation so she could see what I needed and check my comfort levels for different aspects of the massage. She also "talked" me into an extra foot treatment... that was awesome. (ahh, foot massages are the best) With the Ashiatsu massage, she essentially is standing on your back while she holds on these two bars in the ceiling to adjust pressure. She was always applying the perfect amount of pressure and the added weight really helped her get in to some tough spots I have in my lower back specifically. She has a very smooth style unlike some massage therapists who are kind of jerky and can keep you from being able to totally relax. I won't describe the whole massage, but I will say it was the perfect atmosphere; temperature, scents, lighting, music and all! The post consultation was also a nice touch and she made sure to remind me to drink plenty of water. I was so relaxed I mostly just smiled and nodded. Made an appointment to get a full highlight here at a time that worked with my schedule 11 days ago and had to put a credit card on file in case I canceled last minute. Confirmed my appt 2 days ago via email and then the morning of my appointment get a call that they want to change the stylist I am with. I called back and stated that was fine as long as the appointment time was the same. They then turned around and called me back again less than 5 hours until my scheduled appt after texting me that the new stylist cannot complete my scheduled service of a full highlight but can Instead do a partial highlight. When I called back to confirm that a partial would be fine as I just desperately need my hair done, I was told that the stylist they offered to change me to actually doesn't have time to do a partial highlight because it will take her 5 hours to do a partial. They also were not very accommodating when I asked to reschedule to another day at 5 PM. Very unprofessional and will not be coming here. read more

I began writing this review a I waited at Re and here is what I had to say: The receptionist greeted me, and when I explained it was my first time she asked me to wait one second, spoke to another customer and then made a phone call. Another receptionist arrived and asked if I had been help, and her coworker admitted she had not begun to check me in. I was told there was some paperwork (as is custom for a first time wax), but to have a seat and they would bring it to me...10 minutes later, no paper work, no one had spoken to me, and I have read all the magazines. Additionally, this is a salon and med spa, and they are listening to the radio which just played a commercial for bud light and lime. I would prefer a classier atmosphere when I am about to spend over $100 in 30 minutes. No telling if my wax will be any good, but I highly doubt I'll ever come back. Now, the aftermath: As my appointment time approached (I arrived 15 minutes early, just in case), I was brought upstairs to the upstairs waiting room. Someone who appeared to work at the salon walked out of one of the rooms, shaking khaki shorts who looked as though they had just come out of the washing machine. The upstairs receptionist was making phone calls about selling Latisse (which was buy one, get one free for the month) and paid no attention to me. After my appointment time, plus 10 minutes passed, I decided to leave. I got up, and the receptionist looked at me and hung up the phone. I told him it was my first time visiting, my appointment was 10 minutes ago, and no one had even attempted to explain if and why I was running late. Long story short: will never go back. As I'm always on the lookout for deals and had been wondering about this salon for awhile, when I got the notice for the Re Salon and Med Spa groupon I just couldn't resist. $25 for a $50 haircut - SOLD! You will find fantastic decor with a modern flair and the old brick walls of the firehouse, with information on it's history prominently displayed from behind the front desk. I was promptly checked in and offered some delicious fruit and mint infused water when I arrived about five minutes early for my appointment. Although I had to wait 20 minutes for my stylist, I wasn't perturbed due to the chill vibe and great magazines that they had available. The session started with a head and neck massage, then moved into shampoo and deep conditioning (with hot towel wrapped around your locks), then concluded with a top-of-the-line haircut. The stylist that I had today, Andrew, was very personable and answered my questions about the med spa portion of the establishment. And I love my new 'do! Upon my inquiry, Andrew led me upstairs where I met one of the owners (Lindsay) who showed me their face imagery machine and let me have my picture taken to judge me against others in my age group on the amount of wrinkles, sun damage, bacteria, etc that was on my picture. She then proceeded to walk me through some options of their services that could help out my problem areas - and didn't apply any pressure to buy anything, which pleasantly surprised me. There are four parking spaces in front of the renovated brick firehouse and many behind, so don't freak if you don't snag a prime spot. With such a convenient location, long hours, and friendly staff, this place is a must visit for a haircut or color, make-up application, or multitude of spa options on the second floor. Finally! After almost 4 years in Charlotte a salon that fits me. The space is beautiful and minimal without being sparse or sterile. And something about real exposed brick makes me comfortable. All around good vibe. You can take the light rail if that works for you, or there is plenty of parking which is a huge plus. Additional parking is in the back, so don't panic when you first see the meager 3 spots in the front. Jane is my stylist She listens, makes suggestions if you want her to, and just generally does a great job - both cut and color. Also, she's super cool. Disclosure: I had seen Jane before at her previous salon, and loved her there, but loathed the vibe of the salon. I went to Re after reading some reviews on Yelp and doing a little research. I just moved back to Charlotte and was looking for a change from the same lady who had cut my hair growing up. Let me tell you, I found the place! Kim Kennedy cut my hair and did a FABULOUS job. The location is great- right in South End. It is in an old firehouse which is also very neat with the exposed brick walls. Upon arriving, the receptionist offered me a drink ( I had a glass of white wine) and then Kim came and got me shortly after. The decor inside is very sleek and modern. The staff was friendly and pleasant. I hate to admit this, but I hadn't had my hair cut in over a year and needless to say, it needed it BAD. After Kim got done, I felt like a new girl. She also thinned my hair for me because I have a TON. She parted my hair a little differently than I used to do and I love it. Yesterday I went in for a facial. The girl who was performing the treatment convinced me to do something completely different - well, did not convince me-- sort of just told me that she was going to do something different. Some infra-red light treatment? Anyway- I don't even have the energy to get too far into how disappointed I am, but my face felt like (and looks like) nothing has been done to it. The only reason I go get facials in the first place is to even out my skin, remove dead layers of skin, and leave feeling refreshed with that dew-ey glow-y feel on my face. Mine felt like I washed it with a soap (that dried it out even more) and dried it with a towel. It is completely un-even and I am very frustrated. I even texted the girl who did it to tell her that I was un-satisfied and her response was that it takes a few treatments to see results. I understand that, but that's not what I was looking for. I just wanted a damn facial. Needless to say, I don't plan to go back. I spent $125 between the facial (which wasn't a facial- it was a light treatment) and the tip, and it was a huge waste of money. I booked a facial for today with Dana at Nuè Brows to Brazilians on East Blvd to fix my face. (Dana at Nuè usually does my facials, but I had a gift card to Ruē which is why I went there.) So basically now after wasting $125 on some light treatment that I didn't want and that did NOTHING, I now have to spend more money to go get my face evened out. If anything- I recommend going to Nuè or to Nature's Spa and Wellness on Carmel Rd. Nuè is quick and affective if you are short on time, and if you want more of that "spa" experience, Nature's Spa and Wellness is the place to go. read more

I almost don't want to Yelp about this place because my stylist, Jane, is so busy that I don't want to share appointment space! Alas, I must proclaim the glory that is this salon. Walking in, you feel as if you are in a sanctuary. A sanctuary you will inevitably walk out of feeling and definitely looking more beautiful. The staff is incredible, I love that it isn't another mega salon where customers are just a number. I think I've spoken to just about everyone that works there, and they are all wonderful. That is great and all, but what about the hair? Bottom line: Best cut and color I have gotten. I thought I had a good spot back in California... who knew I'd have to move to Charlotte to get the best cut and color I've ever experienced? Jane isn't afraid to try anything. She has cut, colored, and even styled my hair for my wedding and I keep going back for a reason. I love their specials: I recently got two prescriptions of Latisse for the price of one for an outrageously fair price. Next up: Jet Peel Facial. Shame shame that I haven't reviewed Re Salon yet! I've been 3 times and love it more each time! First time was courtesy of a Groupon/Living Social deal (can't remember which) and I saw the fabulous Jane - I think she's a celebrity because the next time I called for an appointment she was booked solid! Luckily, everyone there is just as fabulous! My second appointment was with Michelle and she was awesome too! The most recent visit was with Jane again (thanks to a cancellation). I really love the staff here. All 3 visits have been really enjoyable and relaxing - they take time to talk to you about what you're looking for in your new 'do and then they deliver! A special treat...after they wash your hair, they wrap your head in a warm towel....ahhh! Relaxation (and I assume it's good for your hair too lol). Last but not least, I love that they "saved" the old fire station that was going to be torn down. We need more businesses in Charlotte keeping the history in tact! read more

Review for hair services (cuts and special occasion styling). I followed Michelle to Re from two other salons because I love her cuts (and because she's an all around great person, of course). I love a stylist who listens to what I want and is then assertive and confident enough to create a shape and style. I know generally what I want, but I'm not the professional in the room--I want a stylist who really puts their knowledge and skills to use. Michelle does just that, and I always leave with a fresh style and great looking hair. I've also been to see Arthur to have a my hair styled for a friend's wedding. I said I wanted waves and volume, and that's what I got. He was lots of fun to talk with, and I loved my hair. Pricing is competitive with other high end salons in Charlotte. So it's a bit pricey, but I love the pampering (complimentary beverages, scalp massage, hot towel). It's a nice treat. Because of limited parking, Re offers complimentary valet parking (required if you are going park on their property). The valet guys were super nice, too, which doesn't hurt. read more

Well oiled machine! From the time you call in to book your appointment, to the time you check in, until the moment you leave, they have you going from one station to the next. Typically my hair appointments can last up to 4 hours, but the last two times I went here, I got out with a good looking 'do in 2.5! I got my color from Autumn and cut from Jesse. Both gave me what I wanted and I felt they stayed true to the photo I showed them. Each one specializes in a particular area and it shows that they do it well. I loved getting a hot towel wrapped around my head after the wash! Bliss. The salon itself is high class with a modern touch in a very cool converted fire house (pole still there). Upstairs you'll find the nail tech, massage therapists, and aestheticians. I paid $300 for a color that I could have done at home to be honest it was the worst color I have ever received I feel like I was robbed. The stylist knew it did not look anything like the picture I showed her. After 4 1/2 hours in the chair I had to go home and fix it myself. Got charged for a hair treatment and my hair is so rough it feels terrible. By the look of the salon I thought I was about to get the best color of my life. Looks are deceiving. Since I came here based on the Yelp reviews I read, I figured I would write my own. I drove 2 hours from Asheville to come to Re in Charlotte to receive a Keratin treatment (not many places in Asheville offer them, and if they do, it's the KeraGreen treatment which has not worked well for me in the past). After driving 2 hours, it was nice to just pull right up to the building and use the complimentary valet parking. I was greeted warmly by the receptionist at the front desk, and the 5-7 minute wait was honestly welcome since I had just been in the car for a while. My stylist, Dash (her full name is Dashelle), came and cheerfully introduced herself to me before leading me to her chair. I felt like I had known Dash forever! We had the best time talking about our favorite TV shows, our families and more. She was very quick with the Keratin treatment while not making me feel rushed whatsoever. I am very happy with how the treatment turned out. I will definitely be back to see Dash at Re again, and I highly recommend this salon for a Keratin treatment. read more
