Where do I begin?? I am visiting Charlotte and wanted a massage. My friend raved about the massages she received at Relax Spa. As such, I was like send me the details so I can check it out. When I pulled up I immediately thought this is giving " happy endings " kind of spot! It just looks sketchy even from the outside. Now given that why did I proceed,? I trust my friend! She said this was one of the best massages she has ever had!! When I walked in the staff at the front asked what service I wanted. I told her a 60 minute massage. She told me the price. I confirmed that I could pay after receiving the service. I was walked to a room. As I am getting undressed I notice a peep hole in the door. When I tell you if I had on some pearls I would have clutched them! I went over and opened the door to see if I was seeing out or if others could see in! To my surprise others could see in!! When the lady doing my massage returned to the room I asked about the peep hole. She laughed!! I was like mam- I am not laughing. I said we will need to cover the peep hole. She draped the robe that was hanging on the door over the hole. Now again-- I know- I should have left!! However, I really needed some tension released from my back and shoulders! How was the massage? My friend told no lie! When I tell you this woman walked on my back and put pressure on all the places I needed her to put pressure on. It's important to note the difference between American and Chinese spas. Relax Spa is reflective of alternative medicine through massage therapy. The rooms are private, clean, and quiet. To say this place looks like you'd come for a sensual experience simply reinforces stereotypes, and that's just rude. I had a 60 minute table massage that was amazing. Erica worked through some knots and tension in my shoulders, upper back, and calves. If you ask for a deep massage, expect it to be a little painful by American standards. I could literally feel the knots being worked out of my back. However, it's so worth it! Skip the free bottled water or soda at the end and go for a cup of hot tea instead. Went to get a massage on a random afternoon. Got an hour foot massage for two. I napped and they made my tired legs feel better. Typical low key Asian massage spa. No frills but efficient. I plan on returning. Cost was reasonable. No happy ending tho. read more

I had family in town for thanksgiving' who get frequent massages. They booked us massages here. This place was fantastic. They worked out all the knots I had and used heated rice bags on my back after they completed that area. All 3 of us left our two hour massages feeling completely relaxed & a bit sore from the deep tissue, a good sore. This is the best massage by far I've ever had. I've never felt so relaxed after a massage as this one. We will be back. read more

I will be frequenting Relax Spa! I walked in and I was instantly able to be seen. The receptionist was so nice and quick to service everyone. I had called ahead of time and was thrilled to receive excellent phone service as well! I had my first male masseuse today, but was made to feel quite comfortable. Jack was friendly and professional, and did incredible work. I enjoyed an hour of body work with medium pressure, essential oils, and thirty minutes of foot work. I definitely recommend- especially if you are looking to walk in or avoid a commercial location. I will say the only aspect I did not care for was that my towel was a beach towel. read more

I have never written a Yelp review for any establishment; however, based on my experience at Relax Spa I wanted to warn others. I visited Relax Spa on Saturday, 6/15/24, for a massage my boyfriend booked. The red flags include: 1. An advertisement stating they offer 10-minute massages for $12. To me, that screams of an establishment that offers "happy endings" 2. Rather than sheets on the bed, all that I had to cover myself was a small beach towel. 3. There was a sign on the wall that stated 'no sensual/sexual massages'. Any other massage place I've been to has never had any policy like that posted on the wall since it isn't typically something that has to be called out in the previous places I've gone. By far, the most uncomfortable and violating red flag was the peephole in the door I noticed after the massage was over and I was getting dressed. This peephole gave anybody in the hall the ability to see me get dressed/undressed and, considering the size of the room, watch me get massaged with nothing more than a towel to cover me. As a female, this was a significant and violating discovery, and I felt the need to reach out to the BBB to make the appropriate parties aware. I regret not taking a picture of the peephole; however, I was so shocked that I didn't know what to do aside from getting out of there as fast as possible. read more

One of the best massages I have had. Think the lady's name was Eva. I had a few knots in my shoulder and neck and she worked them out. I also had shoulder surgery a few months ago and she was very careful to not stretch it or move it the wrong way. I am going back so I can enjoy the massage more now that the knots are gone. read more

Well that was unexpectedly awesome. The space was relaxing and quiet. My therapist asked if she can walk in my back. I said yes. And it was great. She used her feet and heels like hands. After doing that she gave me a massage with oil and then hot towel. I'm loose as a goose! read more

Horrible place. I wouldn't allow my do to go here. I booked an appointment 3 weeks in advance for friends that were coming into town. First they stated there was no appointment. Then when I showed them the text they acted as if they didn't want to service my friends. Then they asked for money upfront. They were rude and unprofessional and I never use the race card but they are by far racist. Disgusting attitudes and I would never recommend this place. Probably one of the best deep tissue massages I've ever had! My friend and I did the couple's deep tissue massage deal. Our masseuses found all of the knots and tension points in our back and shoulders (without us ever having to say anything) and put so much work into loosening everything up. Seriously, they were working up a sweat! We both feel so much better with a lot less pain. They even managed to smooth out our forehead wrinkles, which was a huge unexpected plus lol. We are both from out of town, but my friend told me she would drive hours back to Charlotte just to come back here for a massage. read more

I had a bad experience here around the 4th or 5th tine going. My massage was interrupted 7 times and people were coming in the room. It was weird and unprofessional. I got a couple massage with my boyfriend for my my birthday . It was a very nice room and great massage. I found out about the store from friends who go there. It could have more to offer in scented oils in the future maybe, but boyfriend preferred unscented. This place is very, very clean and cozy, reminds me of an old time massage parlor with quite rooms and relaxing décor. I had Marie and she was excellent- very good for deep tissue massage. The therapists are all very good but when you check in I would recommend telling someone who speaks clear English to let your massage therapist know exactly what you want so she can explain it to your therapist first. It's worth it since some of the reflexology techniques used were taught the "old school" way and they work! My neck and shoulders were so tight I could barely move and Marie loosened them all up. She did leave the room a few times but it was to get hot rocks and warm towels- she came back very quickly and took a full hour for the massage and did not charge me for the hot rocks. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for over a year, about 1-2x a month. They give good, strong foot and body massages...which we really like since we have tons of kinks & knots. ***Just a word of advice: Keep an eye out on your watch or cell phone for the start time.*** Recently under new management, they were running a special of $10 off foot & body massages from 10am-12pm. I've been here several times to take advantage of the special. Today, I called to make an appointment for 11.30am and mentioned the $10 off promo for massages before 12pm. The lady who answered the phone who spoke Engligh took down my name & said ok. When I got there, I mentioned the promo to the same lady who took my call and she said they don't offer that for this month. What? Hmmm...but she says she will give me a 70 minute body massage for $60. I said sure, that is fine and paid cash. She spoke to my masseuse in Chinese which I didn't understand but I assumed she had told her 70 minute massage. So my masseuse came into the room at 11:33 a.m. I made sure to look at my watch which is synced to my cell phone. I usually keep my watch on just in case of an emergency call or text. I glanced at the clock on the wall in the massage room which said 11:38am, 5 minutes ahead which I've noticed several times before as well. Strange, don't you think? BUT anyhow 70 mins meant my muscles could enjoy a bit of pain relief which would end at 12:43pm. I was ready :) The massage was GREAT which even included hot stones for my achy muscles. However, my masseuse prematurely tapped me at 12:33 p.m. to let me know she was done. Confused, I looked at my watch and told her 10 more minutes...which she did not understand. She left the room for about 5 minutes to get someone who spoke English. An English speaking lady came in but she wasn't the original lady who took my call & checked me in. I explained the situation to this other lady. Anyhow, at the end I got my 10 minutes that I was owed and when I went to the front desk to get change for the cash tip for my masseuse, the original lady that took my call and checked me in was there. She said, "You got an 80-minute massage." I told her firmly, "No, I did not. It was a 70 minute massage because the clock on the wall inside the massage room is 5 minutes fast and my masseuse left the room for 5 minutes to find someone who can translate." So no, it was the 70 min massage that I agreed to and was promised. Despite this "confusion" I would still go back there. Just make sure you look at your own watch to keep track of the time since the clocks on their walls are inaccurate. read more
