I recently tried Eden Therapy & Massage for the first time. I booked a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Shemeka. She was really sweet and attentive. I could have used a bit more pressure throughout the massage. I enjoyed the relaxation of it. It was really nice that the table was heated though. That was a nice added element since I get cold easy. The facilities were clean and peaceful. Parking wasn't a problem even at 5pm in South End, so I was grateful for that. If I tried this spot again I'd probably look into a different type of massage. As your spa enthusiast, I came here to relax. I wanted to use those FSA/HSA dollars up with it being the first of the year! Why not! It was worth it as they are having a special. I hoped right on it. Best decision of January! It's small but cut and quaint. You won't get slippers and a robe as you change in the room, but I did get a dedicated masseur that focused on my personal needs. I carry a lot of tension in my back. So, as a Plus sized girly, that's where my focus needed to be, and he obliged. I always get a deep tissue. It's what helps me the most, but if Swedish is your thing, go for it. The tables are not electronic, but there was a heating pad. I was advised the tables go up to 300 lbs. They seemed ok, but I chose not to flip over; super cautious! You can enhance your session with aroma therapy if you wish. I also asked about the oil used, which is Lavender scented. You can also bring your own. After the session, you're given a hot towel and water to hydrate. It was really relaxing and a perfect simple massage. I would definitely give them a try. read more

Parking can be challenging since the shopping area has limited parking, but there is also available street parking. Place is clean and welcoming. I scheduled a couples massage and it was an amazing experience. The therapists were knowledgeable and great with their hands. The Bf and I really enjoyed it. I was so relaxed I fell asleep. I've been going here for 10 years! George is excellent! Best deep tissue massage in town! About 6 months ago I progressively started losing range of motion in my shoulder (damaged from an accident) so I went back in for a deep tissue massage and after just one session I already had most of my range of motion back. This place is impeccably clean every time I've been here. Everything smells amazing and sets you up to have the most relaxing massage. The music, linens and oils all just make the experience so relaxing warm and inviting. I swear time stands still when I get a massage here. And the hot towels for the extra difficult spots/knots really do help. The prices are reasonable especially for the level of attention and detail the go to. George was really able to work out the knots in my subscap and trap zones but also made sure to take care of the rest of my trouble spots I had because I was overcompensating for my bad shoulder. read more

I love this massage suite. It's very small and located near south blvd. The parking is limited but the 2 times that I've been I was able to land a great parking spot. The staff focuses on your problem areas and does a great job at working out the kinks in your body. They have a heated bed which I enjoyed. The bathrooms were clean and they offered a bottle of water at the end of the service. I tried the hot stones for the first time and I was surprised at how the process works. Went here for a couples massage with hubs for our anniversary. We were their first appointment. The messeuse assigned to us were excellent. We were very happy with the service. Taking a star away for following reasons: They have one room only that can accomodate a couple and both masseuses were asking questions before the service and it was a little chaotic since it is hard to hear and respond. There should be a better wotkflow for this The massage options for couples massage is 20 dollars cheaper if me and my husband were to choose separate appointments so you are paying 40 dollars extra to be in the same room. Do NOT come here if you care that your masseuse wears a mask, or if you generally believe that COVID exists. And certainly do not book a massage with Carrie Black. I'm over 7 months pregnant and booked a prenatal massage, my first visit with Eden. I chose to get a massage here in large part because their website homepage specifically advertises the covid precautions taken by Eden, including requiring mask wearing by staff members at all times. As someone who is pregnant and doesn't want to risk covid for my developing baby, I do not feel comfortable being in a small room with someone for a solid hour if they're not wearing a mask. I arrive for my appointment and notice staff are not wearing masks, which is contrary to their website policy. I ask if the masseuses wear masks. I am informed by the front desk that they do not wear masks, and further Eden does not have ANY masks in the whole facility. I inform them that their website (and home page) says the opposite, and that they are specifically required to wear masks, and I relied on that when booking my appointment, especially since I'm pregnant. Front desk apologizes and says the website hasn't been updated since covid. She offers to ask the masseuse if she happens to have a mask. I say yes, please do. Front desk lady goes and checks and comes back - she says the masseuse doesn't have a mask. At this point, I'm quite ticked. I tell her I believe I have disposable masks in my car, and if the masseuse could wear one. Front desk says she will check. She goes to the masseuse - her name is Carrie Black by the way, per my reservation - and comes back, saying that Carrie, the masseuse, doesn't feel "comfortable" wearing a mask... giving a massage in a tiny room.... to a visibly pregnant woman who requested she wear a mask. At this point, I'm quite livid at this waste of my time driving here (and back) and now knowing I will not get the massage I was promised. I left and got a refund. I will NOT be coming back. This place calls itself wellness and healthcare, and specifically features their prenatal massage (clearly catering to pregnant women), yet they refuse to wear masks when asked? And what's worse, they blatantly misrepresented their covid policies on their website and did nothing to address it when I arrived, wasting my time. read more

We booked a couples' hot stone massage at Eden and weren't disappointed. Upon entering the store (for lack of a better word), it immediately felt comforting. The store uses a relaxing, modern green color throughout, accented by dark wood and brown paint. We were immediately greeted and asked to fill out an informational form in their spotless lobby. Soon, we were led back to a low-lit room and asked to disrobe for the massage. After comfortably (and warmly underneath the covers) situated on the massage beds, the massage therapists returned. I had George as my massage therapist and would highly recommend him. The heat from the hot stones and the techniques he used worked out the tense muscles in my back and neck. I felt so relaxed (and almost jello-like) after the massage that I didn't want to leave. Or...I wanted to leave to go home and go right to bed. Getting massages are definitely luxuries...but sometimes you really need them. It's good to treat yourself. Like milk, it does a body good. I had a much more relaxed, calmer attitude the rest of the day and look forward to treating myself to another hour of pampering one day soon. read more

Allie will always be my go-to masseuse. Her speciality is to find those tight muscle knots & getting rid of them. I always walk in sore and feeling defeated and after she works her magic, I come out light as a feather and with so much relief. The first time I came to her, my neck was so tight, I had no movement and was in so much pain. After just 30 minutes, I had full movement again. I actually cried in the car because the discomfort I had for days was finally gone. I have never found a masseuse like her. George, the owner, is so professional and definitely created such a relaxing and tranquil salon. This place was fine. Relaxing decor, a clean restroom with washcloths to dry your hands on (I like an eco-friendly touch!). My massage with Christina wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was not at all unpleasant. I don't get massages very often, and I guess I just want to be blown away when I'm spending $70 (and tip!) on a deep tissue massage. I said I like pressure at a 9 level on a scale of one to ten, I guess I should have put ten. I enjoyed at 60 minute Swedish massage. When I walked in the door I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the appearance was and enjoy how professional everyone was. When you start there is a questionnaire to complete asking about health issues, problem areas, and preferences. Terrible representation for the ones that 1st impressions matter. The massage staff was incredibly kind and friendly. My wife and I enjoyed a couples massage. Her's Swedish and mine deep tissue. My wife enjoyed hers, however stated other companies do provide a better service. As for my personal experience, she asked about areas of needed consideration, we seemed to lose connection. Example, I had a "catch" in my neck, this was something I wanted taken care of. A quick touch when she got to the area and that was it. However, she really helped my back. I don't know why I drew the short straw, but my Eden experience was distinctly not 5 stars. 1. First Time Customer - The receptionist/greeter didn't know I was a first time customer even though I made it clear when I made the appointment. I had to ask her for the paperwork. 2. Late Start - I was told my therapist was "running over" and was made to wait 15 minutes 3. Asked to Reschedule - After waiting 15 minutes, I was informed of a scheduling conflict and was asked to come back in an hour . Did I mention that I could hear them discussing the issue and concocting this "plan"? Just because you can't see me, doesn't mean I can't hear you. I wasn't offered much of an apology. I wasn't offered a discount or anything to compensate me for the inconvenience if I did take the new time. It was a very poor customer service experience particularly for a 1st time customer. I ended up walking out and moving on with my day. Maybe the massage would have been great, but I'll never know. read more

Hidden spot in the Southend behind Chipotle - this is place is massage heaven! The staff is super friendly and get you processed quickly and easily when you arrive. The waiting room is serene with gentle music playing - you start to relax instantly! We had the couples massage which was held in a room where the massage tables are put close enough to hold hands! (I know - barf gag!) But for couples it is fun! The room was very dark and comfortable. The lady that worked on me was fantastic with a good amount of pressure. I had deep tissue and she did her best working on the knots in my shoulders. Checkout process is easy and quick! I'd been to Eden before and never had to wait, it was clean and peaceful and overall a great atmosphere to relax and pamper yourself. Bottom Line: The massage is great, of course, but what you will really appreciate is that after your first visit there is no hard-sell trying to get you to become a regular client. When you first walk in the door at Eden you are greated with a very relaxing and Earthy atmosphere. The layout, colors, and decor are all situated to help you relax and get into the relaxing process. As a result, once you get on the massage table you are ready to have your muscles loosened and release stress. Tammy did excellent work, and paid special attention to what I needed and asked all the right questions about how I wound up with the particular pain that was bothering me that day. The massage was fantastic and extremely relaxing. Now my experience with massage spas in the past is that they all tend to do a great job. However there is that little problem at the end where they try to schedule your next appointment before you leave, basically locking you in as a regular customer. I have no problem saying no to this myself, but I honestly think it lowers the overall relaxation of the experience. However, at Eden, this doesn't happen. At the end of the massage, your masseuse is waiting for you with a cold water bottle and tells you to have a great day. That is what puts Eden over the top. read more

So massages are just not something I've had the pleasure of in all my years and always been a bit nervous about it. I was incredibly surprised by the girlfriend who scheduled a couples massage under the disguise of going to run errands. We pull into the parking lot and I'm like "This doesn't look like the ParkIt office." I'm so glad she is a sneaky little thing b/c I doubt I would have scheduled this for myself otherwise. Now on to the actual review. Warm and welcoming staff greeted us as soon as we hit the door threshold. They were excited to see us and helpful right off the bat without any delay. I like that, I am not the greatest for having patience. The decor was very soothing and with the music playing in the background, that just help to promote the relaxation that was to come. I had a young lady named Christine Weir (sp), and I would certainly recommend her to whomever. She did a great job with my Swedish massage and I left feeling like a glob of play dough. Being as I was a massage virgin I was told this was what you want when having a massage so great job indeed. This review is about one masseuse, whom I saw for the first time yesterday. I scheduled a 30 minute Focus Massage because I had the warning signs of a migraine, and I was looking for a very light, therapeutic touch, and I also thought an hour of even gentle touch would be too much stimulation to the area. The Focus Massage description online: "The 30 minute focus massage targets a specific area of discomfort, with the pressure being adjusted to the comfort of the client." My masseuse (I don't remember his name, and he's not pictured at the website) spent 10 minutes talking to me about himself: his concept of massage and the type of therapy he offered, which he stated was not among those officially offered at Eden. He then told me he would not charge me extra for the 10 minute speech. He did ask me a few questions, but with the goal of teaching me to understand my needs in the logic of his training. At this point, I was already very disappointed, because this is not what the FM description describes, and this is not an appropriate therapeutic dynamic. When the massage began, he told me to use two specific words of his choosing to describe my experience. I said that I had a hard time verbalizing during pain, and that my face and body provide clear signals. The masseuse refused to acknowledge those signs and increased pressure and tried to coerce me into using his two words by continuing pressure after I showed clear physical indications of pain, including gasping, flinching, and finally twisting away from his hands and curling my legs up. He did not release pressure until I sat up. To be clear: he did offer me the chance to indicate pressure changes. He just also refused to recognize any signs other than his two-word method. He was clearly trying to teach me a lesson. The session lasted under 5 minutes. Not only was he more interested in his method than his patient's experience, some of his technique, even in that short time, caused unproductive pain that made my symptoms worse than when I came in. When I said we needed to stop, he did not ask why. He did not offer an apology or ask any questions. He told the receptionist that we stopped the session because I "did not like the method." She asked if I was ok, but I was not asked any further questions about why I would end a massage session after so short a time. Overall about Eden: If Eden doesn't see any red flags with this individual, then I do not trust their assessments. This is the second time I have had a masseuse try to control a client's self-expression. The other was a military trained masseuse who tried to force me to express my pain and stress using her preferred phrasing. Both she and the masseuse at Eden told me that my impulses to wince, breathe in, and recoil from pain should be resisted in favor of their scripts. This is entirely unsuitable to a therapeutic setting, and is actually unhealthy. There are just too many other options in Charlotte to give this place another try. To improve, Eden could provide free consultations or fuller descriptions online about the focus on specific techniques so that people can avoid the time, stress, and cost (I paid for the full session, stupidly) by correcting the descriptions of the services on the website. Obviously, my opinion is that they also either need to change their methodology or address this masseuse's methods and engagement with clients. Overall about the masseuse: At a minimum, my masseuse needs to understand that his craft is in service of the client, and that it is not about him. The client doesn't need to know the masseuse's training and journey, etc. All masseuses are trained and have a unique approach, which provides a basis upon which to build, not a place to sit and refuse to grow. He needs to learn to listen and actually care about the client's experience rather than try to talk them out of it. read more

While I love massages, unless I get them on a consistent basis they are almost pointless for me. I stopped in at Eden because I received a gift card and after waiting two months, I finally went in. For the most part, I enjoyed my time there. The waiting room was very calm and quiet, very 'eden'. While I was waiting, my masseuse came out and introduced herself and said it would be a few minutes because her last client was taking a bit - anything under a 7 minute (yes, I am apparently very specific with my wait times) wait is fine with me...it was less than 7. So getting into the room my masseuse was extremely thorough when asking what I preferred, the pressure, what body parts were most important to target and basically anything she needed to know, she asked so she could make it 'the best experience for both of us,' I liked this. She was very intent on open communication so that it would be a great massage - and it was. I ended up very pleased with my massage and my time spent with my masseuse. I feel as though I would only go back to see her, as she made the entire experience for me. If you're in a crunch and they are the only place to go, I would encourage you to at least try it out. read more

So after another start of another bootcamp my shoulders just said "heck no" at work later that day...so I got online and looked through Yelp to help me find a place to unwind these muscles of mine. Faith had been writing reviews on this place for a while and they seem to make her happy, though it wasn't toxins that were my concern, but rather this knot of a muscle in the middle of my back that was SCREAMING. So I made an appointment the same day I called and got an appointment. When I got there I filled out some standard paperwork and in one section it asked how I wanted to feel when it was over...I wrote,"broken AND renewed." With a deep tissue as my selected massage I felt that the former was very achievable due to my condition. I signed up for the 1.5 hour one and grunted and winced the entire time. Though I felt like hell afterwards, 2 days later I was back to normal and definitely feel it was directly related to my massage.
