Unfortunately, after our recent visit to Tyme Day Spa in Charlotte for a couples massage, I feel obligated to leave an honest review about our experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Before our massage even began, we were handed iPads to complete our waivers. While filling mine out, messages from what appeared to be their internal team chat system started coming through on the screen. One message mentioned someone "complaining about the AI bot thing again" and another referred to a "snobby couple here rolling eyes." Whether they intended for us to see those messages or not, it immediately made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I honestly should've walked out right then, but my girlfriend and I had already had a stressful week and decided to continue with the service. After the massage, my girlfriend ended up experiencing significant back pain to the point where she was wincing when touched later that night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I reached out by email afterward to address both the uncomfortable experience and the pain she experienced, but received no response for days.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]After finally speaking with management and then the owner, I was essentially told that no such messages existed, even though I know exactly what I saw on that iPad.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What's frustrating is that I genuinely tried to approach this respectfully. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I even offered to help them improve their customer experience systems and AI/chat workflow because that's part of what I do professionally.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wasn't looking for a fight -- I simply wanted accountability and a refund for a service that left us uncomfortable and disappointed. I went to the Tyme day spa for a birthday treat. Tina did my facial and massage and it was amazing! The entire staff were very professional and friendly. The spa was very clean, welcoming and comfortable. I loved the heated massage table. Tina did an excellent job! She even gave me some pointers on caring for my skin moving forward. Tips: If you're a new client, give yourself extra time to fill out your paperwork. I love that they asked for any specific target areas to treat, and areas to avoid and I noticed that Tina actually checked what I wrote before starting my massage. Also, I believe they only have two reserved parking spots in the back, but there was lots of two-hour parking available in the front of the building using the park mobile app. Just be sure to time it right. I was lucky that I went on a rainy day, so I didn't receive a ticket for going over my time. All in all, it was a great experience, and I will absolutely be back! read more

Had a facial appointment today. Showed up and no one was at reception. I waited 10 min past my appt and calked and walked the hall to find someone. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally did and she told me it was going to be at least 5 more min so by the time I would get started it would be 20 min past me appt with zero communication.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is horrible service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had called me earlier and asked if I could come a little earlier I said how much and they said 2 hours. I'm sorry but that's a lot earlier. Third time's a charm? Nope. This is more of a "three strikes and you're out" kind of situation. Left my workout class early because I tweaked something in my shoulder/neck area. Called Crystal because they have a 45 min Detailed Fix massage that claims to focus on "area's of the body that need more focus." The two stars is because they got me in so quickly. It's downhill from there. Crystal met me at the front to let me in, but when I got to the reception area, I was ignored for several minutes. Eventually the person who had been ignoring me decided she would acknowledge me and see what I needed--turns out, a massage from her! Who would have guessed it? She (Robin) asked if I wanted a full body massage. "In a 45 min quick fix?" was my incredulous response. She continued to insist that it was possible. But why would I want that? I'm here, I explained, because something is wrong with my neck and shoulder (insert very clear hand gestures indicating the area) and I need it taken care of. She suggested again that I do a fully body massage. No. I don't need anything lower body today. I just need this (insert emphatic hand gestures again) taken care of. She didn't seem to care and didn't ask any further questions about what I wanted or where I had pain or anything resembling a consult. The room I'm taken to is prepped for a couples massage and is absolutely sweltering. Not in that good spa kind of way. This is the "it's Charlotte summer and they didn't turn on the AC so it's insanely muggy" kind of way. Whatever, I'm in pain, I'll deal with the heat for some healing hands. When Robin came back, she started my massage and asked about pressure. I assure her it wasn't too much. Normally, that's enough for an LMT but she asked about pressure again later and even eased up about 10 min in--why? I'm here for a focus area issue. That requires strength and firmness. Not general Swedish body swirls. But that's what I got. Big swirly motions. Very, very, very little focus. A couple of times she got close to the are that needed focus. I strongly hinted, "There, now you're getting close," but Robin either ignored me and moved away or at one point even said, "Yes, I'll have more work to do here when you turn over," but she never did get back to the FOCUS AREA spot... *facepalm* I must have told Robin at least half a dozen times about the "focus area's" I was there for and how she should be focusing on those areas. To no avail. A couple of times she did get a little deep--to the point where I could feel her nails (what the ...?) but literally half the time she was ON THE WRONG SIDE OF MY BODY. As a relaxing, upper-body, Swedish massage, this would have been fine. As a 45 min focus-area deep dive, it was a total failure. Closing out the experience, she did give me a couple of cute bags of epsom salts so that I could have a soak (which the FDA indicates has no proven value, for the record), but instead of letting me fill out a tip amount, she verbally asked me how much I wanted to tip. Awkward! Robin also confirmed my email address so that I would get the receipt, but no receipt ever came. TLDR: If I had been coming in for a regular short massage, this would have been an OK experience. Not stellar, for sure, but acceptable. Coming in for a detailed focus muscle quick-fix, this was a total failure. Even given that I'd have to take and pay for a Lyft both ways, I'll be going to Daybreak Massage & Wellness at Kenilworth next time. They're open an hour later and Perry is magical. I strongly suggest you check them out, too. read more

My 60 min deep tissue with Crystal was phenomenal! I have had quite a few massages, but none of them that hit all of the spots I really needed. She gave special attention to the spots I requested, but then also gave attention to some spots I NEEDED but didn't request. The pressure and technique was perfect. Only negative would be her nails were a little long which interfered minimally. I will say, we had some issues with scheduling, but they quickly remedied it and it was no issue. They had wine and mimosas, tea & coffee, readily available for the wait. The front staff was very friendly, and I felt very welcomed. My husband had a 90 minute birthday massage with Joanna, and his experience was very comparable to mine with Crystal. We will definitely return. read more

I took my husband for a couples massage for his birthday Weekend. The facility is in an area that is being redeveloped, so the outside does not look as beautiful as the inside yet! But once you get in the magic begins! I had Jasmine as my masseuse- she is small in stature but powerhouse in massage. She asked the right quotations and she listened! Because of that I had the best and most different massage I've ever had! She not only did a traditional massage, but she stretched out the lower half of my body opening up back and thigh muscles that had been causing great pain. I called for clarification due to information from the Specials page on the website that says "Special for Skin of Color Only" and was told the June specials are only available to people with ethnic backgrounds and white people are not eligible for the price discounts. Literally charging a different price because of the color of someone's skin. I understand the attempt here, but singling out one specific group because of their skin color, is something we all need to stop doing, right? read more

I am not a big massage person. This was more for my wife than me. We had a good experience meaning the massage was not painful or uncomfortable. They were able to get us in earlier than booked. They offered us wine and an opportunity to use the restroom. Showed us to the room and allowed us to get undressed. The massage started and I took notice of the time just to be sure since we had started sooner than booked. Lacey did an awesome job. Soft hands. Attention to detail and stress areas. That's all I know about it as it was my first one. My wife on the other hand really enjoyed hers. She had Lynne. She said it was the best she's ever had. Lynne has a ton of experience. Not so rough, not ticklish, soft hands and delicate when pressing. I would recommend Lynne and Lacey based off our experience. Once done after the hour, we got dressed and helped ourself to more wine. They did not rush us out as they told us to sit comfortable in the front area and take our time. I visited here on short notice during a day of high-anxiety. I've been in Charlotte over a year and have had good massages, but this exceeded my expectations. Robin paid attention to my areas of concern closely while still making me feel like the other areas were never neglected. It did not feel at all rushed like some chains often do. I did not expect to feel much relief today, but I ended the session on cloud 9 - and on their memory foam mattresses! The rooms are large, dark, and perfect for massage. The staff is kind and there is tea, water, and coffee before and after your visit. I would recommend all working professionals visit Robin, and often. Ordered this massage for my boyfriend, a 90 min that consisted of an additional add-on of Hot Stones. The Hot Stones never happened. Extremely disappointed with how the situation was handled by Crystal Bishop. I called to ask why the add-on did not happen, and instead of receiving an apology, I got an "Oops." I was astounded at how unprofessionally she responded to the situation. Would not recommend getting an add-on to anyone, does not appear that they are able to tell when someone purchases it. My sister and I wanted to treat my mom to a massage to celebrate her 60th birthday, and I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find somewhere that could accommodate three massages at the same time. I was so relieved to have found Back N Balance, as they could take us all at the same time. It is a perfect space to share, there are yoga studios on the left and then private massage rooms on the right. The room was very clean, and had a soothing atmosphere and the massage table had a memory foam mattress topper that BY FAR is the MOST comfortable massage table I've ever been on. It's by appointment only but Booking was easy, you can do it on the phone or online. There are tons of different styles of massages from hot stone, to pregnancy massages to deep tissue so make sure you check out the website to see which style you like and for what amount of time. They also send you a reminder e-mail of your appointment. I got the reflexology massage. Crystal has really strong hands and asked about pressure to make sure we found the perfect medium. We booked a 60 minute full body with Julie and Greg, and it was spectacular. It was my boyfriends first ever massage, whereas I get massages fairly regularly.
