What went well? What didn't go well. I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in the door. I had been dealing with typical work out soreness but i walked out feeling so much better. Crystal did a phenomenal job. I don't know if a scalp massage to finish the massage can get a chef's kiss but it deserves one. read more

I've been a bad girl... and today I got EXACTLY what I deserved. Let me explain. I just had a therapeutic massage at Tyme Day Spa with Gregory, and when I tell you my body NEEDED this?! For the last five weeks, I've been consistently working out -- Pilates, weight training, handstand practice, middle-split training, StairMaster, and everything in between -- while completely neglecting the part where I'm supposed to stop and actually take care of the muscles doing all this work. So yes... I deserved every bit of what happened on that massage table today. But that's actually not why I'm leaving this review. I'm leaving this review because Gregory was EXCELLENT. From the moment he started, I could tell he had actually read my intake form. I had circled the areas bothering me, and not only did he immediately address those areas, he circled back to them three different times throughout my massage. He listened to me. He paid attention to my body. And most importantly for me -- he took charge. That matters to me more than people probably realize. When I'm receiving a service, I want to be able to take my brain out, sit it on the counter, and just be the client. I spend enough of my life being the CEO, the business owner, the professional, and the person making decisions. When I'm paying another professional, I want to be able to relax knowing, You've got me. Gregory had me. He started with my left trapezius, and BABY... The pressure was beyond what I expected, but somehow exactly what I needed. I'm someone who normally gets Thai or Ashiatsu massage. I'm accustomed to serious pressure -- people literally walking on my body and back -- so I'm not afraid of a deep massage. But today, I realized I didn't need someone's entire body weight or feet on me. I needed someone who could be extremely intentional and therapeutic with their hands. That's exactly what I got. And can we talk about the HANDS?! If you hold your phone all day, lift weights, or practice handstands, you probably know that soreness in the thick, meaty part of your palm. Both of mine were hurting. Gregory didn't just work on them -- he came back and worked on them AGAIN. Then when I turned onto my back, he took the headrest from the massage table and positioned it underneath my neck for support. I've NEVER had anyone do that. Pure genius. This was, hands down, the second-best massage I've ever had in my life. And that's saying A LOT. I'm very well traveled and have received massages all over the world, on almost every continent. My #1 is still the massage I received in Thailand last year. But Gregory came dangerously close to knocking Thailand out of the #1 spot today. The only thing separating the two is that in Thailand they climbed onto the table with me and put their knees in my back. But that was a Thai massage. Today was therapeutic massage, so we're comparing two completely different experiences. Gregory understood the assignment. He was professional, responsive to my body, attentive, and confident enough in what he was doing that I could stay completely grounded and allow him to do his job. I've experienced enough horrible massages to know when somebody REALLY knows what they're doing, and I appreciate this experience so much. This was my third or fourth visit to Tyme Day Spa. My first visit was about 3 1/2 years ago, and I've watched this place continue to grow. I love the ambiance, the music, and all of the new additions. They've even added refreshments and drinks, which was such a nice touch. Normally, I've treated massages like a birthday tradition and would come around December. Yeah... we're not doing that anymore. Five weeks of training without taking care of my muscles taught me my lesson. My body needs a regular routine of Gregory at this point. I'll be back within the next couple of weeks for a sports massage AND a Thai massage because now I want to experience everything they're offering. If you haven't booked with Time Day Spa, I need you to do that like... RIGHT right now. Your body deserves it. Your mind deserves it. Your time deserves it. Your nervous system deserves it. And ladies, don't be afraid to book a male massage therapist. Gregory knows EXACTLY what he's doing. Great job, Gregory. read more

Fabulous massage with Gregory, highly recommend! I have been coming to Tyme Day Spa for over 10 years since first moving to Charlotte and am never disappointed with the service, ambiance and ultimate relaxation I experience. read more

Chelsea was amazing! She hit ask the right spots with just the right pressure. Her years of training and experience show !!

Unfortunately, after our recent visit to Tyme Day Spa in Charlotte for a couples massage, I feel obligated to leave an honest review about our experience. Before our massage even began, we were handed iPads to complete our waivers. While filling mine out, messages from what appeared to be their internal team chat system started coming through on the screen. One message mentioned someone "complaining about the AI bot thing again" and another referred to a "snobby couple here rolling eyes." Whether they intended for us to see those messages or not, it immediately made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I honestly should've walked out right then, but my girlfriend and I had already had a stressful week and decided to continue with the service. After the massage, my girlfriend ended up experiencing significant back pain to the point where she was wincing when touched later that night. I reached out by email afterward to address both the uncomfortable experience and the pain she experienced, but received no response for days. After finally speaking with management and then the owner, I was essentially told that no such messages existed, even though I know exactly what I saw on that iPad. What's frustrating is that I genuinely tried to approach this respectfully. I even offered to help them improve their customer experience systems and AI/chat workflow because that's part of what I do professionally. I wasn't looking for a fight -- I simply wanted accountability and a refund for a service that left us uncomfortable and disappointed. Instead, the conversation ended abruptly, and I was blocked on Instagram after trying to communicate professionally. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for local businesses, but I also don't believe customers should be made to feel mocked, dismissed, or ignored. read more

Came here w/ a girlfriend for a New Year's Day massage (one of the only places open NY Day) and it was hands down THE best massage I have ever received in my life!!! I opted for the 90 min swedish massage and was soooo pleasantly surprised with how tailored, in-depth, and relaxing my massage was. Please treat-yo-self and come here for your next spa day! read more

5 STAR BIRTHDAY MASSAGE, I visited Charlotte for my birthday last year. I decided to treat myself for my birthday and get pampered. I went to Tyme Day Spa for a Birthday Pamper Package. After years of saying I need to book a massage, I finally did for my birthday and it was everything I imagined. I left feeling so relaxed! read more

Absolutely exceptional experience at Tyne Day Spa this morning. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was calm, welcoming, and impeccably maintained. Crystal delivered a truly masterful massage--intuitive, skilled, and perfectly tailored to what my body needed. Her technique was both therapeutic and deeply relaxing, with seamless flow and just the right pressure throughout. I left feeling completely reset, lighter, and noticeably more balanced than when I arrived. This wasn't just a massage; it was a top-tier, professional experience from start to finish. If you're looking for expert care and genuine relaxation, Crystal and Tyne Day Spa is simply outstanding. read more

I had a facial with Shamir and it was incredible 10/10. She was very thorough and had great recommendations. Shamir also has the best customer service. Can't wait to see her again! read more

Great Atmosphere! Pricing was very much in line and the service was amazing. I got the Thai Massage... felt like I was walking on clouds after and it was one of the best massages I have ever received. No pain no gain! My wife did the birthday massage... highly recommended! read more

I went to the Tyme day spa for a birthday treat. Tina did my facial and massage and it was amazing! The entire staff were very professional and friendly. The spa was very clean, welcoming and comfortable. I loved the heated massage table. Tina did an excellent job! She even gave me some pointers on caring for my skin moving forward. Tips: If you're a new client, give yourself extra time to fill out your paperwork. I love that they asked for any specific target areas to treat, and areas to avoid and I noticed that Tina actually checked what I wrote before starting my massage. Also, I believe they only have two reserved parking spots in the back, but there was lots of two-hour parking available in the front of the building using the park mobile app. Just be sure to time it right. I was lucky that I went on a rainy day, so I didn't receive a ticket for going over my time. All in all, it was a great experience, and I will absolutely be back! read more

Had a facial appointment today. Showed up and no one was at reception. I waited 10 min past my appt and calked and walked the hall to find someone. Finally did and she told me it was going to be at least 5 more min so by the time I would get started it would be 20 min past me appt with zero communication. This is horrible service. They had called me earlier and asked if I could come a little earlier I said how much and they said 2 hours. I'm sorry but that's a lot earlier. I said I couldn't and they said ok. Yet clearly they over scheduled with no respect to my time. I had arranged my day around this so I'm incredibly frustrated and will not ever try to a facial again there. The girl had the audacity to ask when I wanted to reschedule for. I said never. They clearly have no respect for customers time read more

Third time's a charm? Nope. This is more of a "three strikes and you're out" kind of situation. Left my workout class early because I tweaked something in my shoulder/neck area. Called Crystal because they have a 45 min Detailed Fix massage that claims to focus on "area's of the body that need more focus." The two stars is because they got me in so quickly. It's downhill from there. Crystal met me at the front to let me in, but when I got to the reception area, I was ignored for several minutes. Eventually the person who had been ignoring me decided she would acknowledge me and see what I needed--turns out, a massage from her! Who would have guessed it? She (Robin) asked if I wanted a full body massage. "In a 45 min quick fix?" was my incredulous response. She continued to insist that it was possible. But why would I want that? I'm here, I explained, because something is wrong with my neck and shoulder (insert very clear hand gestures indicating the area) and I need it taken care of. She suggested again that I do a fully body massage. No. I don't need anything lower body today. I just need this (insert emphatic hand gestures again) taken care of. She didn't seem to care and didn't ask any further questions about what I wanted or where I had pain or anything resembling a consult. The room I'm taken to is prepped for a couples massage and is absolutely sweltering. Not in that good spa kind of way. This is the "it's Charlotte summer and they didn't turn on the AC so it's insanely muggy" kind of way. Whatever, I'm in pain, I'll deal with the heat for some healing hands. When Robin came back, she started my massage and asked about pressure. I assure her it wasn't too much. Normally, that's enough for an LMT but she asked about pressure again later and even eased up about 10 min in--why? I'm here for a focus area issue. That requires strength and firmness. Not general Swedish body swirls. But that's what I got. Big swirly motions. Very, very, very little focus. A couple of times she got close to the are that needed focus. I strongly hinted, "There, now you're getting close," but Robin either ignored me and moved away or at one point even said, "Yes, I'll have more work to do here when you turn over," but she never did get back to the FOCUS AREA spot... *facepalm* I must have told Robin at least half a dozen times about the "focus area's" I was there for and how she should be focusing on those areas. To no avail. A couple of times she did get a little deep--to the point where I could feel her nails (what the ...?) but literally half the time she was ON THE WRONG SIDE OF MY BODY. As a relaxing, upper-body, Swedish massage, this would have been fine. As a 45 min focus-area deep dive, it was a total failure. Closing out the experience, she did give me a couple of cute bags of epsom salts so that I could have a soak (which the FDA indicates has no proven value, for the record), but instead of letting me fill out a tip amount, she verbally asked me how much I wanted to tip. Awkward! Robin also confirmed my email address so that I would get the receipt, but no receipt ever came. TLDR: If I had been coming in for a regular short massage, this would have been an OK experience. Not stellar, for sure, but acceptable. Coming in for a detailed focus muscle quick-fix, this was a total failure. Even given that I'd have to take and pay for a Lyft both ways, I'll be going to Daybreak Massage & Wellness at Kenilworth next time. They're open an hour later and Perry is magical. I strongly suggest you check them out, too. read more

Had a great massage experience here after a long flight into town. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Deep tissue massage was excellent!! Will be back! read more

My 60 min deep tissue with Crystal was phenomenal! I have had quite a few massages, but none of them that hit all of the spots I really needed. She gave special attention to the spots I requested, but then also gave attention to some spots I NEEDED but didn't request. The pressure and technique was perfect. Only negative would be her nails were a little long which interfered minimally. I will say, we had some issues with scheduling, but they quickly remedied it and it was no issue. They had wine and mimosas, tea & coffee, readily available for the wait. The front staff was very friendly, and I felt very welcomed. My husband had a 90 minute birthday massage with Joanna, and his experience was very comparable to mine with Crystal. We will definitely return. read more

My fiancé and I were snowed in and decided we really wanted to get a couples' massage. We googled and searched for a place that was open and came across Back-n-Balance. We called and they had availability for a couples' massage within the hour. Of course we secured the spot. Patricia and Georgory took care of us. They were both very knowledgable and knew exactly what we needed. Both of us are on the computers all day at work so we had a lot of back issues. After our 1 hour session (I got the deep tissue massage, he got the sports massage), we felt brand new. Appreciative of both these two professionals for not only taking care of us but also working on a day where most would much rather be at home. Thank you so much. We will be back. read more

I am in town visiting my family and they told me about Crystal Bishop at Back-n-Balance and booked me a 90 minute cupping and massage session. The spa was clean and nicely decorated. Crystal provided a phenomenal massage experience. She hit every sore spot, paid additional attention to the areas that needed it and I could feel her release so much stress and tension. I highly recommend Crystal and Back -n-Balance! I will be back when I'm back in town. read more

One of the best massages I've ever had by Rachel at Tyme Day Day Spa. I took my husband for a couples massage for his birthday Weekend. The facility is in an area that is being redeveloped, so the outside does not look as beautiful as the inside yet! But once you get in the magic begins! I had Jasmine as my masseuse- she is small in stature but powerhouse in massage. She asked the right quotations and she listened! Because of that I had the best and most different massage I've ever had! She not only did a traditional massage, but she stretched out the lower half of my body opening up back and thigh muscles that had been causing great pain. This reduced the pain and caused me to walk better. I am still feeling the results 2 days later. Btw... my husbandhad a great massage tool!:-) read more

This place discriminates on the basis of skin color as a fact. I called for clarification due to information from the Specials page on the website that says "Special for Skin of Color Only" and was told the June specials are only available to people with ethnic backgrounds and white people are not eligible for the price discounts. Literally charging a different price because of the color of someone's skin. I understand the attempt here, but singling out one specific group because of their skin color, is something we all need to stop doing, right? read more

By far one of the best massages I've had and with all of the back and neck problems I've had MANY massages over the years let alone months. Crystal was amazing and applied the perfect pressure to relieve ALL of my pain which is a first for many months. Thanks so much and I can't wait to stop back in when I'm back in town If I could put a second review in I would. I visited again and Crystal did just as amazing job as the first visit. Really enjoyed. The 90 min therapeutic deep tissue massage. Lemon was awesome! Great location, a must if you're local or visiting like me.

Crystal did my massage and she was amazing! I wanted relaxation, which she did, but she also focused on a few areas that were pretty tight and gave me advice on our to loosen them up and relax a bit on my own. She might be one of the sweetest people I've ever met and I will definitely use her in the future! The spa is so relaxing and well decorated. I highly recommend checking her out! read more

She and the other folks at BnB are fantastic. I highly recommend them! read more

I am not a big massage person. This was more for my wife than me. We had a good experience meaning the massage was not painful or uncomfortable. They were able to get us in earlier than booked. They offered us wine and an opportunity to use the restroom. Showed us to the room and allowed us to get undressed. The massage started and I took notice of the time just to be sure since we had started sooner than booked. Lacey did an awesome job. Soft hands. Attention to detail and stress areas. That's all I know about it as it was my first one. My wife on the other hand really enjoyed hers. She had Lynne. She said it was the best she's ever had. Lynne has a ton of experience. Not so rough, not ticklish, soft hands and delicate when pressing. I would recommend Lynne and Lacey based off our experience. Once done after the hour, we got dressed and helped ourself to more wine. They did not rush us out as they told us to sit comfortable in the front area and take our time. Gave us a coin for the parking lot also. read more

I visited here on short notice during a day of high-anxiety. I've been in Charlotte over a year and have had good massages, but this exceeded my expectations. Robin paid attention to my areas of concern closely while still making me feel like the other areas were never neglected. It did not feel at all rushed like some chains often do. I did not expect to feel much relief today, but I ended the session on cloud 9 - and on their memory foam mattresses! The rooms are large, dark, and perfect for massage. The staff is kind and there is tea, water, and coffee before and after your visit. I would recommend all working professionals visit Robin, and often. After seeing her, I really feel it wasn't just a treat but a necessity. I only wonder if they also offer wine or aromatherapy add-ons. :) Thank you for taking my stress away! I will be back soon! read more

Ordered this massage for my boyfriend, a 90 min that consisted of an additional add-on of Hot Stones. The Hot Stones never happened. Extremely disappointed with how the situation was handled by Crystal Bishop. I called to ask why the add-on did not happen, and instead of receiving an apology, I got an "Oops." I was astounded at how unprofessionally she responded to the situation. Would not recommend getting an add-on to anyone, does not appear that they are able to tell when someone purchases it. Waste of money, regret not choosing another massage place. read more

Great experience and friendly staff. Finding parking can be a hassle (if you don't want to pay), so give yourself plenty of time if paying will be a big deal. We paid for parking, and ended up walking to many of the close places for lunch/drinks since we paid-- lots of great places around! Otherwise, great place and will be back for sure! read more

My sister and I wanted to treat my mom to a massage to celebrate her 60th birthday, and I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find somewhere that could accommodate three massages at the same time. I was so relieved to have found Back N Balance, as they could take us all at the same time. We arrived quite late (the road is under construction and you can only access the sidewalk from one spot), and they still accommodated us. All three of us have gotten many massages, and we all agreed that these were the best we'd had. I will definitely be back! read more
