I wasn't asked about the pressure throughout the entire massage, but I was randomly wincing and recoiling at the pain. I could not relax, let go, or drift off. I wouldn't come back here. When I expressed how the face massage wasn't what I expected less than 5 minutes in, I was still charged full price for this service. There were also multiple points throughout the massage where the masseuse was hands off, and not massaging my body to grab lotion or whatever else, instead of keeping supplies handy. She worked my shoulders, upper back, upper chest, neck, scalp, and jaw. While it was an intense massage because there was a tremendous amount of tension in my neck and jaw, it was amazing. She checked in consistently through the service to make sure the pressure was appropriate. I noticed it was easier to chew, talk, and open my mouth immediately afterwards. The location is easy to find (off South Boulevard near Dunkin Donuts) and on-street parking was available in addition to parking behind the building. Tina was prepared for my arrival so that we could start after I completed the required paperwork. The atmosphere inside was dim, warm and set the mood in preparation for the massage although a bit dim for completing the paperwork. There were a couple people in the hair salon upstairs, but the rooms were quiet throughout my visit. I thoroughly enjoyed the deep tissue with complimentary hot stone massage. The music was soothing and the heated blanket helped! This was a relaxing visit and I do plan to return for more massages and will bring family members along. Spa Bliss is a 1-woman show, and trust me that's a good thing. Tina is an expert in her craft with her years of experience becoming obvious as soon as she starts navigating your trouble spots. I have chronic tightness in my back, hips, and legs, presumably from sitting in front of a computer all day. When I come in for a 90-minute deep tissue massage, she remembers me, focuses on exactly what I come in there for, and almost always goes over my allotted time until she's covered everything she needs to. And she's the only masseuse I've ever been to that incorporates hot stones and hot towels without charging extra. Because it's just Tina and no receptionist, you can't just call and talk to someone about available appointment times, as she's busy giving massages throughout the day and obviously can't answer incoming calls mid-appointment. In today's world of instant gratification, I can see why that could be offputting to some, but I've never had trouble getting Tina to call me back within 24 hours of submitting a "request an appointment" inquiry on her website. And since her website and "spa menu" is more up to date and easier to navigate than most, you know exactly what your options are without needing to talk to anyone. I think I've tried every massage place in South End and Dilworth, and Tina definitely has them all outclassed. I came to her with a lot of problems, due to me bending a lot from the pedicures and the eyelash extensions that I do. I was definitely in pain, mostly around upper arms, lower back and neck. I booked for 90 mins hot stone massage. Appt starts at 11:30am today. And that didn't end til 1:45pm. THATS A 2HOURS MASSAGE!!! Apparently I have soooooo much knots to work out... During the process, I must say sometimes it was painful, but soothing as soon as she place the hot stones on me. I would recommend Tina to anybody who have problems like I do.
