It didn't give that doctor office feel it felt like you were a criminal. However years later seeing dr.A, I couldn't be more thankful for a doctor who listens, works to find a solution, and cares for his patients. My issues will never get better they will get worse as I age. I'm almost 40 but still want to live and because of Dr.A, I can do that with tolerable pain. I dread the day I ever have to find someone else. That is my biggest fear. THANK YOU for being awesome I appreciate you!

When I seeing him regularly and not just because of his PA couldn't see me he immediately started acting like I was a lier. He told me to tell him what hurt when he touched me. When I started responding he got mad at me and snapped that he only wanted to know if it was unbearably painful not just uncomfortable. I still told him all the places that hurt but when I tried to explain the variances in pain he said he just wanted a yes or no not my feelings. The whole thing was degrading and demoralizing. He got worse as time went on. I could only talk about one aspect of my pain. He would always cut me off. He cut my medication by 2/3rds and refused to give me anything for withdrawal. I was assaulted and asked for a female doctor or a referral to somewhere with a female doctor. He said he had a female doctor. I saw her once and she told me she was only helping out for a few weeks. He completely lied there was no female doctor. I was scheduled back with him. I asked for a referral and he refused to give it to me. Since starting there he's gone through at least three dozen nurses and office staff and close to a dozen PAs. All he cares about is money. His office manager routinely gives out medical advices even though she has no medical training. They will tell you if something doesn't work to call and they'll change it. They never do. The office staff never gives messages to the PAs. It's just an awful toxic environment.

I was prescribed several brands of Immitrex that offered little relief and led to a referral with a headache specialist with whom I had a single visit. She reported back to Dr. Costello that I was addicted to Immitrex after which he would no longer see me as a patient. Mayo clinic later determined my surgery never fused, several of my screws had broken, and I had a retropulsed vertbrae fracture impinging on my spinal cord. This was only after my entire left and dominant arm fell completely limp and numb causing me to lose use of it.

I've been in pain management for four years as I suffer from significant lower back pain and nerve pain in my legs on a daily basis 2. I saw Kevin Costello for first time last week. He said only treatment he could offer me is a Spinal Cord Stimulator surgery and was not receptive to any other treatments. This was disappointing as there are other modalities out there to treat lower back pain that are less costly and less invasive. Also, my insurance will not cover a Spinal Cord Stimulator surgery until other treatment options have been exhausted. 3. In summary, I felt Kevin Costello and his staff dismissed me as I am young (35 years old) and failed to offer fundamental pain management services. I could not have been more insulted and will never recommend this guy or Southeast Pain and Spine to anyone suffering from chronic pain.

It's been awhile since I was there (early 2024) and have seen such a plethora of other unsatisfactory physicians in the interim that I cannot recall if he prescribed any of the generally ineffective and commonly prescribed "pain" meds at all such as Lyrica. I wasn't looking for any of the dog and pony circus of treatment with opiates at that time being I was already well aware of the pitfalls of that such as it is impossible to even obtain a sufficiently high enough dosage to be worth my while to try them again. Therefore, instead I just lay down a lot, hire people to do my housework @ 30 bucks per hour, cannot even stand at my sink more than 5 minutes to wash my own dishes, have to pay someone to drive my dogs to the dog groomers being I still cannot even bend over my own laundry sink long enough to bathe my own 5 and 6 lb dogs, plus of course I have major problems simply bending over to pick things up off my floor - pretty pathetic really as I actually know myself how to fix these things. While I have more invisible illnesses than I can count on 2 to 3 hands, there is not one MD I have met anywhere in this metropolis who knows anywhere close to as much as do about them sadly. There is absolutely NO excuse for this happening in AMERIKA so shame on what has been allowed to happen with three downfall of our entire healthcare system here. *** Otoh, Kiran Semmelsberger, PA, formerly of Atrium Primary Care in Mint Hill certainly did. She, however, has moved on being that she was so conscientious about her job that she was majorly overworked. She had been known to call me from the office there at 8:30 PM just to ensure she followed through with some final analysis of some new diagnostic crisis of mine. While these reflections of mine RE: the medical care thus far found in Charlotte, NC, are not at all just directed towards this one practice on Springbank, this practice I went to one time only was in fact a typical example of what is being described. *** End result currently?? What a wasted life due to insuffucient, deficient, or lack of medical care in Charlotte NC - 17th largest metro area in the country I read somewhere ... pretty sad

I told them my husband's condition, and the lady called him my "boyfriend"; I told them exactly where his pain was, and their next question was again, where is his pain; I told them he just had an MRI, and she follows up by asking if he had any x-rays or MRI's. It felt as if talking to an AI would have been easier. Good luck scheduling. Additional: It seems the same lady who gave us such a difficult time scheduling then scheduled us for the wrong time, we had to call her back, and she put us on hold + transferred us to someone else to fix her mistake. Stellar. Edit: After all that, it seems the office retaliated by canceling our appointments. I wouldn't recommend this place... felt like a real waste of time. I think it's reasonable to expect a doctor's office to be better listeners, and it's a disappointment when you find an office that seems lacking in professionalism.
