In general I've had positive experiences getting haircuts here! And since it's in a convenient location in Park Road Shopping Center, and booking an appointment online is so easy, I keep coming back. When you book, you see all of the available stylists and their different rates, which can start at $35 or so for a woman's haircut. I do feel like the quality varies by stylist - and isn't necessarily correlated with their rate. On my first visit, one of the more expensive stylists seemed to rush my cut & blowdry, and barely spoke to me. I came home with parts of my hair still damp, and ended up straightening it myself since it was frizzing. Most recently, I booked with Gianna, who was so lovely and took the time to understand what I wanted and offer suggestions. I really enjoyed chatting with her, and she did a great job with both the cut and blowdry! Overall, I recommend Dolce Lusso for a convenient, solid haircut as long as you find a stylist you like! read more

They turned my hair orange!!! I have been going to this salon for years. Sometimes the service was subpar but for the most part they got the job done correctly. Iv even switched up stylists plenty of times. Not all stylists get it just right but nothing like that happened last week. I booked online with the stylist Iv been seeing for a while who does a fantastic job!! She's so nice and really pays time, care, and attention to her clients. Once I get to the salon I was greeted by someone else. I asked what happened and where my normal stylist was and she didn't seem to know what happened to my appointment. I didn't make a big deal out of it because I thought (this is an expensive and nice salon how bad can it be).... I will never ever ever make this mistake again. I wish I had jumped out of that chair and left immediately. However, I didn't because I had payed for childcare that day just to get my hair done. If you're a mom, dad, or solo parent you understand what that means! She didn't ask any questions big red flag... she just said no worries girl I got you. I assumed she was going to follow the instructions from my normal stylist. Next thing I know she's drying my hair and it's orange. Like someone has put all over color on my roots to be this strawberry blond orange. I even asked her if she thought it looked orange and she responded no. Maybe it's the brick behind us. I went in for a routine partial highlight, natural blond, no toner. Nothing crazy or too difficult. I ended up with red hair that they tried to fix by highlighting over it. It's permanent, I can't fix it, and it's probably damaged my hair even more than it ever needed to be. This was just not okay for many reasons, the least being that I'm four months post partum and just wanted to feel pretty again. The bright side ish.... The manager tried her best to fix my hair free of charge the next day (which I had already payed full price and left a tip because I'm not a jerk). So it wasn't in fact free. I hope the manager got my original payment and tip. They told me what went wrong and I appreciate the managers honesty. However, it was a train wreck of mistakes that never should have been allowed to happen. I don't understand how that girl still has a job! The way in which she screwed up my hair is wild beyond belief. I probably could have done a better job MYSELF with box hair dye and one of those horrible old highlighting caps. All this to say, be careful when allowing a younger inexperienced person to do your hair. Iv been coming to this salon for years! Unfortunately, I cannot come back after this. I went in asking for a butterfly cut something with lots of volume and layers throughout. I showed pictures to my stylist and she said she could do it. I also added that I wanted big curtains bangs starting from my jawline. I walked out with my hair flat and straight two different lengths on my bangs and there so thin just two strings. the layers are only at my very ends and not blended at all. At the end of the service I asked her about it and she said she wasn't able to do the look I wanted. Its such. Boxy hair cut. One side looks alright and the other is just an absolute mess. read more

I came here to be a model for someone who is taking a class with them. So for full disclosure, this means the haircut was free. The space was clean and well designed. They have lockers to keep your stuff in and a coat rack as well. Lavin (my stylist) was running on time. She gave me a shampoo before cutting my hair. I was there for a round layers cut and I think it turned out great! Everyone was incredibly friendly. After the cut she dried my hair and then the instructor came over at the end to check the cut. My friend recommended Michelle for a curly hair cut and I was not disappointed. I walked in and the salon is beautiful. There are comfy waiting area seats and I was quickly offered a beverage. Michelle was super friendly and did not judge me when I told her I had never had a real cut or style before. She listened and taught me how to style my hair and didn't make me feel like an idiot! Last year In August I called to book an appt right before my wedding and asked (begged) for them to connect me with the "best haircutter" on their floor. Dolce Lusso stylists can do amazing color, so I wasn't worried about my highlights. But it has been my experience there (with three stylists) that my hair is always still too thick, e.g. not thinned out enough, after my haircuts. but the color services have been so good, I was holding out hope. They scheduled me with Britney (sp?) whose haircuts are $100 so I was hopeful that I would get an amazing cut. You get what you pay for, right? Britney is the color instructor, I would come to find out. She over texturized my hair on my right side and actually cut one of my highlights in half. Noticeably. Neither she nor her assistant pointed this out while they blow dried and styled my hair, perhaps they didn't see it, but I found it the very next time I dried and styled my hair. I had to go back to the salon and have them cover it with a lowlight, but not with Britney since she was at Fashion Week. I was very disappointed because a haircut for that price should not be problematic, right?? So I waited until the end of December, my hair was a bit longer (shoulder length at this point) to get some lowlights and get my hair thinned out without hapless over-texturization (fingers crossed). This time they scheduled me with the same lady who did my color correction, Christine. My appt started at 6pm; I asked her to thin me out a bit, leave the ends more whispy, not blunt, Jennifer Anniston-esque (my hair is essentially the same color and falls the same way as JA, always has). Christine, for lack of a better expression, scalped me. Half of my hair was on the floor by the time she was done (at 9:30pm). Oh it definitely resembled JA, but not a recent haircut of hers: her shag from the 90's!!! I kept telling her it wasn't right, I started crying, and felt like I couldn't breathe because I could see the damage done and yet she kept cutting. I texted my wife to come and help! She had cut super short, choppy layers on top, and left the bottom long. I looked like a mushroom, with two very different haircuts on the same head. but there was no manager on duty, and the receptionist either didn't know or didn't care that I was having a full on panic attack in both the chair and then, later, their bathroom. I was the only client in the salon at that point. My wife was beside herself; she didn't know what to do, at one point even asking for Christine to stop cutting and she wouldn't. Another stylist who happened to notice my panicked expression and my pleas, Robbie - the Angel, walked over and finally intervened. Christine said "well I don't know what she wants. Do you have any suggestions?" AFTER SHE CUT ALL OF MY HAIR OFF. And Robbie said, "Um, yes." He gets his own shears and starts to tweak the mushroom shaped haircut Christine left in her wake. Robbie was SO NICE to me, so gentle. He asked me what it is I initially asked for, he assessed the 'damage', made a few adjustments, but then gave it to me straight. He said too much hair had been cut off to achieve what I wanted, but that with some regrowth, the haircut could be tweaked and eventually look the way I wanted it to. I have had this type of haircut before, years ago, by rookie stylists who had no clue how to thin out/layer thick hair. I knew that it would take 6 months to a year to grow out. I was devastated, and I still am. While I was in the bathroom, Christine actually made some snide comments TO MY WIFE about me, despite she being the cause of my terrible experience, something to the affect of "well I can't glue it back on," and "she needs to figure out what she wants because it's already 9:30pm. The salon is closed." She even called my hair a mullet...TO ME. I have been inconsolable ever since. I called manager Amanda not long after that fateful night, and her offer to remedy the situation was a free trim in two months and a free one hour massage. She said she was very sorry for the ordeal, and to call the next day when I was sitting in front of my calendar to book the massage. The very next day I called, got Amanda on the phone again, and SHE DIDN'T REMEMBER ME. All in all, I lost about 2-3 inches of length, and a ton of volume despite me wanting to keep my shoulder length hair. The layers are impossibly choppy, chunky, and short: there are pieces of hair that are three inches long in quite a few areas of my head. My wife bought me a bottle of Biotin supplements to try and regrow my hair more quickly, but the haircut stands until some substantial regrowth can take place. How can this happen at an expensive, reputable place with so many good reviews? And then, to add insult to injury, the owner can't even be bothered to make a 5 minute phone call to a severely dissatisfied, and quite frankly, traumatized customer? The young lady that cut my hair was super nice and personable. She did a great job with my cut and appreciated I knew the cut I wanted up front. I was a little surprised at the end when I asked her name, she didn't just give it to me, she told me when I call they'd have the info in the system. I don't know if she didn't think I'd be coming back? But I liked her regardless. The young man who cut my daughters hair was great too. He was very patient as my daughter is almost 3 and was NOT trying to let him touch her hair. Daddy stepped in and helped but I appreciate the patience of the stylist. read more

I've been looking for a new salon and Dolce Lusso popped up on my Yelp recommendations. I called on a Thursday and was able to get in on Friday. #lastminuteforthewin! First of all I love the location! It's right in the park road shopping center, with tons of parking. When I walked in I thought the salon was super clean, decorated beautifully, and a really nice size. I was promptly checked in and April sat me in her chair for a consultation. I told her what I wanted and she made it happen. I was also asked if I needed anything to drink which is a nice touch. The hair washing station has chairs with back massagers built in which was a nice plus. I got a clear gloss out on and it looks great. April cut my hair exactly how I wanted and I was in and out in an hour. The prices are very reasonable and within my budget. I recommend making an appointment before going. read more

I got a terrible haircut there yesterday with Scott. I have a newborn so to be honest once we discussed what I wanted I wasn't paying much attention since I had been up all night. I regret not catching his mistakes earlier. We discussed that I wanted a trim but wanted to keep it long, long enough to put in a low ponytail (he explicitly said collarbone length minimum). I did not ask for layers but did ask for him to thin it out a bit since I have very thick hair. The entire process was a whirlwind and SUPER RUSHED. He did not even show me my hair in the back before leaving which I don't think has ever happened before for me at any salon? I walked out with 1 sharp unblended layer in the back and really short hair framing my face. Some pieces were almost as short as my cheek bones. I own that I should have watched him more closely but this morning I called to see if they could do absolutely anything. It is a very juvenile looking haircut, but worse it is not functional for my lifestyle at all. When I talked with the receptionist she was not apologetic or accommodating. I am really upset and emotional about this but was trying to keep my emotions in check on the call. I was hurt that there was not an apology or eagerness to correct. Waxing service was TERRIBLE! I walked in to the salon as I wanted an urgent arm/legs wax for an event but the esthetician was so unprofessional. She did not know the basics of waxing. During the appointment I had to constantly guide her as she was waxing in the direction of hair rather than pulling the strip in the opposite direction. Kept going over the same area again and again. Myself and my 2 daughters have gone to the Stonecrest location for years. The hairdressers are "ok". The girls at the front desk are rude and overall the place as a whole just has poor customer service and doesn't treat customers very nicely. One time both of my daughters had a haircut appointment and we were about 10 minutes late. They refused to take them and we had to leave. Things happen..there should be a grace period. However, I figured what can I do. Then recently I had an appointment and was running late because it was pouring outside. I called and let them know and they said as long as I wasn't more than 15 minutes late, it would be fine. I arrived 6 minutes late and again wouldn't take me. First of all, they called me that day and said my hairdresser wasn't coming in and asked if I'd be ok with someone else. I said ok even though I was disappointed. So, what was this girl doing that she couldn't take me and how could 6 minutes make such a big difference. Horrible customer service. I had just driven there in the pouring rain and it took 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back. Oh and I was on crutches. When I left I saw I had a message on my phone of the girl at the front desk cracking up hysterically telling me she had to cancel my appointment because I was 5 minutes late. And it happens almost every time that whomever I schedule with always can't come in so we have to take a different person. Such an unprofessional way to run a business. They just lost 3 customers. After 20+ years going to the same hairdresser in upstate NY, I got very lucky finding Christelle who works at the Stonecrest location. She has continued to work with me on keeping the hair style I had & want to keep. It hasn't been easy but Christelle has been so nice & patient each month and telling me if I am not liking it we'll keep tweaking it until it's what I want. She really cares what the customer wants & goes above & beyond to please. I'm a serial salon hopper- I never seem to find a place that I'm happy with... some salons charge an arm and a leg for decent work, and others charge lower prices but do a horrible job. I think I finally found the sweet spot at Dolce Lusso. I was hesitant to initially come here because it looked like another fancy expensive salon, but I desperately needed to get my hair done before a business trip and this place was the only one that had last minute availability. This is where I met Tra-Vonn and the rest is history! I love Tra-Vonn he is so sweet but alSo very talented. Living close by and seeing the reviews for Dolce Lusso, I decided to give it a shot. I tried a different salon in Charlotte and they butchered my hair and I needed a good cut and color. The receptionist gave me Cody and I couldn't be more grateful! He walked me through my color requirements and what I was looking to do, and talked to me about my haircut. He had to fix my cut since the prior salon butchered it. I have been to all 3 Dolce Lusso salons, I love the look of this one and the staff! Staff is great everyone from Hannah & the front desk staff to the stylists. April did an amazing up do for my daughter's hair for prom and it was exactly like the photo. Lindsey highlighted and low lighted my daughter's hair giving it a more natural look than her previous stylist. My hair was looking too light and I wanted the highlights to be more natural, Brittany is amazing at color, my hair is a soft brown with some highlights for warmth but very natural! Love the cut and style too! She is great at blowing my natural curly hair straight with some volume along with Savannah. I honestly have never had such a miserable experience getting my hair cut. My normal salon was closed so I booked a junior stylist here. I kid you not, he did not ask a single question about my preferences. It was a silent, awkward haircut, in which he simply blunt cut all the way around and then went through quickly with texturizing scissors. When he silently handed me the mirror and I pointed to an area that wasn't blended, he said "okay," tried to texturize and then explained it away. I felt embarrassed for him and myself. read more

I needed a good haircut and I had to find a Salon that was open in Sunday. I stumbled across Dolce Lusso and after reading the reviews requested an appointment through Yelp. They were very quick to respond, under 10 minutes. My appointment was scheduled with Meridith. I didn't realize before that this is an Aveda Salon. I arrived and was immediately greeted by Meridith and taken to her station. She was terrific. She started with a scalp and neck massage, then washed and cut my hair. It was the best cut I've ever had in North Carolina. Meredith was friendly and professional and easy to speak with. She was also very personable. I highly recommend getting Meridith to cut and style your hair, she totally rocks! read more

Due to medical issues I wasn't able to see my regular stylist while I was visiting last week. I booked a haircut and color with Van at the park road location and couldn't be happier with the results! She took her time and worked with me to come up with the best options for my hair and what I want from it. And wow, I've never loved my hair so much!!! I can't recommend Van's expertise enough!!! Let me preface this by saying the girl who cut my hair was very nice which is the ONLY reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. She did a terrible job of cutting my hair. I showed her 2 pictures of the cut I wanted and it looks NOTHING like what I showed her and the cut is uneven. I asked for a longer curly lob, ya know, shorter and slightly layered in the back, angled longer in the front. She did the back fine with me coaching her then she decided to just chop the sides off. They are now noticeably shorter than the back as well as being shorter on the left side than the right. It will take months to grow out. It was just a bad cut. I will never go back, at least not to her. Aveda needs to have a longer apprenticeship before they let people start cutting hair on their own. read more

The shampoo felt amazing after a long day at work. I was in and out in under an hour which was great for me! I do have long curly hair and just asked her to style it the way I had it before the cut. Really wonderful experience at this new location! The salon and spa is huge and completely gorgeous, with sleek finished throughout. Everything was clean and lovely. The chairs for shampooing are massage chairs with feet elevation, amazing! It's an Aveda salon so all the products are natural and not overwhelming in scent, as I'm pretty sensitive to smells. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review of Dolce Lusso! I've been going to Mitchell for a while now and have always been happy with his work and personality (great guy to talk to!). The front desk people are very friendly and fun (Kizzy is WAY FUN!! - if I had a daughter I'd want her to be just like her :-) I think Dolce Lusso's prices are very fair -- especially great if you can manage to get an appointment with Mitchell who is very talented but called a "junior stylist" (I have no idea when a salon chooses to move them up the ladder, but due to his being called "junior" his prices are "bargain city". I really should not be writing this as I fear my not being able to get an appointment with him. My advice, book in advance! read more
