I was told that even though I was proactive about the challenges at the destination, the move and charges are what they are. I wished them the best, and hopefully my negative review remains an outlier.* I want to start by saying that I explained to A Smart Move that I would be leaving a poor review based on my experience with their pricing. I was told that they understood and would share my feedback internally. I was quoted just under $2k for a 3 bedroom move 5 miles (about 15min drive) away. The destination address is on a steep hill, and I made sure to send pictures and ask questions before the move. I was told that it would be no problem at all. The move was rough. They started at 8am and were loaded by around 1pm. At 2pm (includes a lunch break) they arrived at the destination and decided on the spot not to use the driveway and to cart my items up the steep driveway by hand. It ran long, and I was told around 4pm that they would be calling an extra two people to help at a cost of $135/hr. I was told I did not have a choice in this. They arrived at 4:30pm, and we were all finished at 5:10pm. So, doing the math, we had $2,000 for the move, $135 x 2 which we will round up to $300, and I added insurance the day before for $300. Our total due should be roughly $2,600, minus the $200 deposit I already gave them, for $2,400. The evening of the move they attempted to charge me $4,109.58, which was luckily declined. Over the following day or two I had several calls with them. They explained that they were already discounting the rate, and that the weight of items moved was higher than their initial estimate and made more work. I get that estimates can be wrong, but they actually moved LESS items than what was estimated due to me doing numerous van loads before move day. Additionally, at the destination, all I asked them to do was put the furniture in the correct rooms and leave the boxes outside the garage door for me to put away. Anyway, at the end of the day, I ended up paying a total of $3,312.78. Not including the insurance costs, that's just over a grand in additional fees, or an added 50% of the total cost to move. The excess really stretched us financially. I charged it to a credit card only to be told that there would be additional fees now for credit card usage. This was right after we got a $25 credit for having to clean up trash that they left in my front yard. We didn't even mention that the bathroom in our new place was peed all over, which was a delight to clean. My wife and I have mobility issues, so we really needed the help on this move, and it was incredibly frustrating to have this experience. All of this said, the movers themselves worked extremely hard. We bought them lunch between the loading/unloading, offered water throughout the day, and tipped them in cash.

Rule #1: Don't rent any storage unit unless there is absolutely no other choice -- and if you have no choice, make a plan to get out of there on a given date. Rule #2: Don't rent from Price Self Storage. If you look at the other reviews on Yelp, you'll see the Price has among the lowest ratings of all the storage providers -- there's a reason. I spent thousands of dollars storing stuff with them and always felt like I got kicked in the teeth by this company. Expect relentless rent increases and totally inflexible policies. They will absolutely take every opportunity to hit you with any extra charges when they can. And it's just so damn frustrating to deal with them, even to pay them: Can I pay with my American Express card? Nope, that would give me some leverage if I felt there was a problem. Can I pay a partial amount on the online system? No again. You can only pay exactly the system gives you, right or wrong. I'm traveling, will you take a debit card payment over the phone? Sorry. Can't do that either. Unless you fax written authorization giving them the right to automatically charge your card. Price wouldn't even pro-rate a refund of my last month's charges -- this was after YEARS of paying their ever-increasing fees. I squawked about it, left a message for someone in management. They never called me back. Price really doesn't give a damn about you or your stuff. For them, it's just a cash flow racket, built on the backs of people that through misfortune or circumstance, just don't have anywhere else to stow their possessions. I have no problem with businesses making money -- it's WAY Price does it that I find very irritating. For example, they lure you in with cheap or free rent, then pump up the rents with stunning regularity. At the end of my stay, I was paying $2 per square foot per month. That's the same as paying $4,000 per month for a 2,000 square foot house. Except all you're getting is an empty box. What an incredible rip-off !!! My household items had mold and rust damage from the improperly ventilated conditions of the storage unit. And to cap it off, even my moving company, guys that are not easily offended, said the Price folks were rude and unaccommodating when they came to pick up my goods. Do yourself a favor -- don't do business with Price. And for the good of the community, tell all your friends to stay far away from this cynical, greedy, and rigid company. And on a philosophical note, will it really improve your life to store things you're not even using? I feel much better after selling much of my stuff. Simpler is not only cheaper, it's better. BE AWARE!!!! YOUR BELONGINGS ARE NOT SAFE HERE!!!!! THIS BUSINESS DOES NOT HAVE ANY SOVEREIGN MORALS, THEY JUST WANT YOU MONEY! The staff that work for PRICE SELF STORAGE from the office staff to management to REGIONAL are corporate thieves and parasites!!! Internal investigation with in the company need to take place ASAP! As I was moving I left my unit unlocked and no one was there, come back in less than 10 mins and a lock that didn't belong to me was on my unit! NO EMPLOYEE REPORTED LOCKING MY UNIT SUPPOSEDLY!!! Manager lives on site and happen to find no evidence on the cameras! They have them strategically placed for their convenience!!! Coincidentally!! Regional manager is a child and know not a single thing about customer service nor running a business. This business is going under BE AWARE!! They have homeless people coming and going showering in the restrooms. We went from renting from these guys for years and being semi happy..to them framing us so they could get into my unit (they knew the value of what was inside)! The regional going so low as to tell me my situation is a conspiracy!!!!!! Not even take the appropriate action to investigate it first where cameras reveal my exact story taking place. Everyone involved in the corruption and manipulation taking place here is more and more evident. The next day after posting acccurate reviews I was sent a rent raise on my units! One unit I have had for only one month!!!! LAWSUIT! They also have rats through out of his facility all through the outter facility! Crawling and nesting in the walls, you can hear and see them in the evenings! Get caught on the property 1 minute after closing manager will harass you with a fine for 5 minutes, hover over you and chase you out! She is one nasty person to deal with! She is also a victim to everything in her life so she hides behind her regional manager who is just as sick! read more

I started at $206/month and with frequent rate increases, I am now at $306/month! My unit is advertised on the Price Self Storage website at $235/month, which was confirmed when I called Price Self Storage. They also informed me that $306/month is well over street rate, and that all introductory move-in prices are short-term promotional rates. This is classic bait and switch. They raise their rates about every six months and they only give you about a week notice of the rate change! It is not enough time to even change my online banking recurring payment. On top of that, my storage unit is dirty and filled with black widow spiders. Do not do business with Price Self Storage! read more

Just like the other reviews state, this place is a crooked business. They have one of the most despicable business practices i have ever seen, they raise the rent on you 2 times in the 1st year on the 5th month, and 9th month. It's not 5-7%, more like 10%+. They don't really care, they just want to attract new business, the first month rent free is not really free; you have to pay an admin fee, protection plan(mandatory), and a lock if you don't have one. Don't fall for the trap of renting here, the managers on site are a husband/wife couple, and they might be nice to get you to rent; all in all their demeanor will change once you rent and get your 1st rental increase. read more

She could not have been more helpful over the last month when I have come down from LA over several occasions to clear out my space. Recently my truck was broken into while I was in Mexico and my purse along with all of my credit cards in my bank card were stolen. This made it impossible for me to pay my storage bill when it came due. I had been on auto pay, but once the cards were killed, that was no longer relevant. Andre went way out of his way to call and remind me that the bill was due, he even let me know how many days I had to work with before a late charge would be assessed once I realize that I wasn't going to be able to use my bank card in time he immediately sent me a form which was super easy to fill out online, allowing my bank account to be linked to my auto pay, and the funds were immediately available so that my items in storage were safe and sound Andre followed up with me to make sure that I had it done if I needed any help he was there for me and just overall compassionate and understanding! That's so hard to find nowadays I highly recommend this facility on every level. It's fantastic. Signed a happy customer

Even though I informed management right away they didn't fix the drywall nor did they call an exterminator. I was forced to buy mice traps and mice deterrent boxes. The results were disgusting, lots of mice were caught on the sticky traps. The negligence of this property is just beyond words. They shouldn't have rented the units to me in the condition they are. The drywall is falling apart providing an entry point, the units weren't even cleaned properly although they claimed they cleaned them, the facility is infested with mice and poorly maintained. On top of that they double the rates every 3 months for what?? The units are falling apart, dilapidated, dark and dingy; it's a very old facility with very little upgrades. I would strongly advise against storing anything at this facility because I can't stress enough that the entire facility is infested with mice which is a health hazard; mice carry hantavirus and the plague. I am assuming that all my belongings are going to be damaged due to this. This is god awful for anyone to go through. There isn't anything positive I can say here. I spent thousands moving my stuff into this storage facility.
