This is the worst maintained storage unit I have ever experienced in my life. Recently, after the heavy rains, my son visited our storage unit and discovered that there was a significant leak in our unit. My son and his wife had to move all of the items that I am storing from one side of the unit by 5 feet to avoid other items from being damaged but we were able to keep the same unit at the time. I had rented a much larger unit because at one point I had more items in the unit but had been downsizing.
Three weeks later, I receive an urgent phone call from a visiting manager. In his voicemail, he said that it was urgent that I called him but no he left no detailed as to why it was urgent. I didn't noticed the missed call until after hours. Upon hearing that there was an urgent message, I didn't know if there had been a fire, break end or more water in my storage unit. Upon hearing the message, I rushed over to the unit after hours so that I could check on my belongings. Outside it did not appear to be a break in or fire. But when I opened the storage unit there was another large puddle of water in my storage unit!
When I rented this space, my original strategy was keep the larger unit and downsize on 1/22/2016 for a smaller unit.
I asked the manager if because for the whole period of time that I had been renting had issues with water if the could consider providing one free month of a significantly smaller unit, if I could move my items to the smaller unit yesterday. The Manager not have the authority provided me a phone number to Customer Service and the District Manager's which I called yesterday afternoon. Customer Service assured me that the District Manager, his name is Andrew, would be helpful. I asked the manager if he could comp 1-2 days while we waited, he said he had to wait on the DM's decision but that he would explain to the DM of the challenges that we've had with this unit for the past 30 days including the most recent leak. The District Manager did not return my call and no one else had the authority.
I'm an action oriented person and if this were my customer, I would have immediately provided a win-win solution especially if their unit had a significant water leak. After all, they had the roofers repairing the roof of my unit on 1/21/2016. And, the water had a big puddle in the unit. Also, the drywall near the leak shows mold forming on the wall. Disgusting!
My concern is for everyone who is renting with this company that they may have damaged belongings as the buildings are not well maintained.
This afternoon, I rented a cargo truck so that I can get everything out of the unit in one move and relocated my belongings to another storage facility in the area. Had the District Manager been on top of his business and returned my call yesterday, they would have had a long term customer. After, I moved out, I was told that the DM was going to offer me to downsize. Then why no phone call to advise me when you know I also said that I will go find another facilities since no one was able to resolve this problem. Then hours after I did move out, I receive a call from the DM and his only response to this situation was I'm sorry. To me sorry is a word means nothing when a persons actions are scripted and have no substance behind the meaning of the word.
Overall, I will be giving a excellent rating to the storage company that I moved my belongs to as the facility is so clean it smells very fresh. read more
