This was my favorite place to shop, 12 years ago when I first moved to the state. The place is trashed, inside and out, whenever we shop here. The recycling bin area stinks, and there's bottles and cans all over the ground. The employees walk past it, not doing anything about it. FOH employees look like they want to fight, especially the girl working self checkout today. In the produce area, a few items didn't have prices, and I feel like I'm bothering someone if I ask for help. That store is really nostalgic which isn't really a surprise considering I used to go to Price Chopper when they had a location in Vernon and it had that interior decor before that store closed down a while ago. A lot of items are expensive such as Dr. Pepper Strawberries & Cream soda. You can buy those at Big Y for cheaper prices. ShopRite overall has even greater rate of lower prices on most of everything that they sell here. Moldy pasta sauce in an aisle?!? One can expect to see anything moldy on a food anywhere in a store on occasion but who cares. Pharmacy permanently closed down cuz I saw it totally covered and no pharmacy signs so that's not good for those who had prescriptions here. PRICE CHOPPERSis the beat managed, has the freshest deli, produce, prepared foods and just cannot be beat. I go to get certain supplies for my cat which are not available at any other stores. I just take my time and browse the whole store. You guys have the bagels on earth. Tried the bacon scallion gourmet cream cheese. Ten stars! The store crew is always helpful, friendly and professional. I am glad three CT Transit bus routes stop here! read more

Just walked out on an order that would have been about $125. There were no checkers/registers open. Only some very young (VERY YOUNG) people standing and chatting, or on their phones. Only option to buy was to check myself. Nope. Until Price Chopper can hire some workers, and not fixate on corporate profits, I won't be back. Every self check puts Americans out of a job. Shame on Price Chopper and the rest of the companies forcing consumers to work on self check out just for the opportunity to give money to the company. I'll pay more and go to Whole Foods where service still exists. read more

I ordered a cake for a birthday celebration. The event was canceled 2 days prior to the event. I called to cancel the cake and have it moved a week forward. When I called to inform them, the bakery manager yelled at me saying the cake was already made. This order was for a double layer 8-inch cake, pretty standard cake, nothing out of the ordinary. I asked him to move the cake order to the next week for pickup and he said okay and bye. He didn't take any of my information at all and ended the call. I called the store back to speak to the store manager Mike. He answered the phone and said he wanted to hear "your side of the story". I told him what happened. I asked him if I should pick up the cake that was made and he said to not worry about it. It would be given to the employees. He then went on to explain that they have a shortage of workers and that they are overworked at his store as if this justified the act of his employee disrespecting a customer. The inner workings of your store employee shortage is not my problem and I should not be privy to them. I just wanted to move the date for cake pickup. There was never an apology offered, and he was highly amused while laughing at me saying okay miss in a condescending tone. Again disrespecting me. I have been a loyal customer to this store for over 23 years. The price of the cake is $20. The price of losing me as a customer over that 23-year period tens of thousands of dollars. I wonder if corporate would find this funny too? Keep your cake. I will shop somewhere else. read more

where do I start? The bottle guy with the bad leg is the worse employee and seems to assume he's invincible. Management needs to put him in his place but I don't think that's going to happen. He's just overall rude seems that he may have some issues, even though that's not an excuse. Today, I go to the deli and there's some new chick there smh. I ask for 10 slices of this meat (pointing directly at it). She saying I don't know which one, you gotta say the whole name (and of course it's a name no one can pronounce, but that's not the issue). I'm practically banging my finger on the dang glass, it was unbelievable. I thought she was joking or I was being pranked. After no movement from her while I stood there shocked. I walked away without any cold cuts smh. I continued shopping for my other items, I then headed back to see if there was another butcher there and happen to run into a guy and I asked if he was the store manager, he said yes. I then explained the situation to him, he told me to come on over and he'll handle it. By this time the rude butcher girl was nowhere to be found and one of the original ladies was there to serve me, pleasant as can be as usual. Thanks to the manager, he saved the day cause they almost lost a loyal customer. I gave a great rating for simply the purpose of how well one of the "check out" ladies held her head together just a few hours ago New Year's Eve 12:00 PM. Two very Loud and VERY BLOND women were literally in her face, screaming at the older and shorter cashier demanding to see name and ID for reasons unknown. A gentleman and I attempted to de-escalate the verbal assault on the cashier by turning our head in the direction of the yelling and asking the women to tone down the volume of their voices and asking what the big deal was? The cashier who in my opinion held it together although thoroughly embarrassed, shaking and to the point of tears still concentrated on her task at hand and ignored the insults and pushed on with her job in spite of the continued attacks spewed on her. I shop at the store infrequently as well as other stores however I have never witnessed such hatred and vulgarity as I saw and heard today. The two customers behaved in a manner that is consistent with a "Do not fly list'. If they had such a huge beef with the cashier, they could have simply resolved the conflict with customer service. The indigenous stress that this lady went thru could have negative health effects and I would feel terrible if I did not bring this to the attention of management. I hope this situation is investigated and if necessary, mandates are in place and enforced for this type of extremist behavior by the two women. read more

This place disappoints about 70% of the time. Many items I buy weekly are not consistently in stock. Have been overcharge on multiple occasions and because of that I check my receipt each time I leave. It's way too often that I have to go back to get a refund for being overcharged. Bread was 2.99 and I bought 3 and was charged 4.29 each although I buy it every week. Not sure what they are doing with all the changeover to the new store but I've had most problems since then. Can't find workers around to provide assistance and so if I need some help I have to search the entire store. Called ahead one time to ask them to set aside a few pounds of pork tenderloin. They happily did and went to go pick it up and they say they gave it away......go in the next day to ask for another pork tenderloin and they say "oh we've had it all along" and we got the original meat that was requested. Again, very strange and inconsistent. Workers are clearly not on the same page. Multiple times I've had to return things from rotten cheese to moldy bread. Have bought milk there that's date doesn't correspond with the spoilage (because milk should last at least 6-7 days without turning sour). And do not get me started on the produce. If you get as many tomatoes as I do...just run now because they are rotten, stinky, and fruit-fly infested. It's embarrassing that they can even have that produce in public. I need to find a place with prices similar to price chopper but overall better quality. Any suggestions would be great!!!!! read more

Don't bother! I work there. I try really hard to give exceptional customer service since I was trained by IBM and HBO and trained hundreds of others. No recognition at all. No training either. They did it again! I was buying chicken stock, it clearly said it's 5 for 2, after I checked out, I realized they charged me 2.99 per box! Also, there is a tag says English muffin price was reduced from $4.98 to $3.98, so I bought 2, one was the pumpkin spice flavor, one is the cranberry flavor, apparently at the checkout, only the green apple flavor is on sale, the others are not. This store is making me angry, I really don't want to come here anymore, they rip people off all the time! read more

Terrible experience. Was screamed at by an employee for apparently failing to follow the States unclear bottle return social distancing policy. Instead of explaining the policy the employee proceeded to scream and me and another person using the bottle return and throw his hands up in the air. I then spoke to the store manager and was told that he would address the situation. However it is safe to say I will never shop there again. I worked in a grocery store for over 5 years when I was in high school and college and would have never treated a customer that way. There are plenty of nice grocery stores in the area that offer better service, prices and higher quality products. read more

This is the worst grocery store in the world, and we will never go back. The proper bottle return policies are not posted and the employees are rude and scream at customers who are not even sure what the rules and policies are. The store managers do not even offer proper compensation in return for bad treatment. Don't waste your time! I was very surprised when I came to this location. Coming from Meriden, this place was bigger, the clientele was nicer, and the staff was fast and efficient. It was a bit difficult to find things and as always for a supermarket, the lines were huge, but since there were a ton of cashiers and they were fast and efficient, the line didn't feel long at all. Isles were a bit overcrowded and hard to navigate, but if you knew what you were looking for it was easy to just stop in, grab what you needed, and get out. Parking lot is huge, but it was very crowded both times I visited this location. The deli looked great, but I ate at Chile's next door both times I went so I can only rate on looks. If you live in the area or Meriden, this is definitely worth the trip. If not, just stick with your local grocery store. read more

This is a great place! They have great discounts! Better than best market to be exact! I shop here like every week. they sometimes run out of stock of stuff and that needs improvement but I understand there is not an infinite stock. I like there food they made so much. There pizza is better than pizza hut which tastes like crap. I know this place is popular and I am glad it is popular. This place is as good as the dollar store! Floral department was horrendous, the girl made a HUGE deal about wrapping my flowers by rolling her eyes and then how she wrapped them was horrible as well. The tissue paper was all wrinkled and only one layer of tissue paper! Also she didn't give me a ribbon so it looked like scrunched tissue paper around flower stems when I asked for a ribbon I got one small thin piece. The attitude was horrible, the work was lazy and overall it was a very bad experience. read more

I absolutely love this place and visit three times a week. Last week I was absolutely appalled at how I was treated when I briefly stopped in. I came in to buy a balloon to let go in honor of my father passing. When I asked Courtney M. If anyone could assist me, she lifted her head in frustration from what she was doing only to rudely inform me that the balloons/flowers were closed. Ok. I totally get that. Completely my fault for coming so late. But The way she spoke to me like I was interrupting her reading a book in a library was unacceptable. She said, "No. and and I'm VERY busy." And then put her head back down like I didn't exist. I then kindly asked (doesn't hurt to ask) if anyone from costumer service could maybe fill a balloon quickly with helium because it was very important to me. Courtney proceeded to tell me she was "extremely busy," this time and continued with what she was doing. I asked for her name and walked away. She caught me walking back and obviously felt like a jerk. She said, "which balloon do you want." Two seconds out of her life it took. I told her thank you, but she didn't need to be so rude. Last time I checked I'm a costumer and I should be treated as one. I would have had no issue with her KINDLY telling me there was no one available to close and maybe try to come back tomorrow earlier. Im a teacher and a waitress- you won't catch me telling my students or tables that I'm "extremely busy." Learn some manners Courtney. You never know what someone is going through! read more

Horrible. Will never shop at that location again. They mixed up the pricing on the shrimp and when I went to correct my receipt they told me I was wrong, disappeared for a while (which was long enough to change the sign) and told me there was nothing they could do. I wish I had the hindsight to go back there and show them or at least take a picture of it but nobody's expecting to be lied to. Customer service needs an attitude check, didn't want to originally help me, didn't care if it was listed as the wrong price, did not communicate effectively with me, rolled her eyes at me when I got back in line with the correct item. Essentially felt like I was being called an illiterate liar. When I came back a lady in front of me was having a similar issue and they did the same to her. It's not our fault if they list it wrong and it should be honored as such and how poorly they treat people definitely needs to be checked. an ok supermarket. it was the new kid on the block not too long ago, and as mr rajmun michal s has sad, it had great potential. when it opened anew of course it was all clean and shiny, and that has faded. ok i will admit i am most disappointed that the nice 'health food' section has now been distributed to a non-special status and mixed in with the non-organic, non-healthy foods. whatever. i mean, i never come here anyway.. if you need groceries and are on this end of the pike, this is a good place to stop i guess. read more
