I am writing to review a frustrating experience at the Newington location. My goal is to ensure that other customers don't face the same lack of professionalism and conflicting information that I encountered today. This morning, I proactively called the store to confirm if I could bring my children in for passport photos. Wanting to be mindful of the staff's workload, I asked what time would be most convenient. The employee I spoke with confirmed that the passport photo department was open until 9:00 PM and agreed that arriving between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM was perfectly fine. When I arrived with my children during that agreed-upon window, the experience was significantly different: *Wait Time: We were made to wait for several minutes before being acknowledged. *Refusal of Service: When the employee in charge of photos finally approached, she abruptly stated, "I don't do passport photos." with no other context. I had to probe to find out why and she just stated that she doesn't not do passports past 6pm. *Contradictory Policy: When I explained my morning phone call she was incredibly rude - accusing me of lying and online says passport photo is open until 9pm. As a customer, I did my due diligence by calling ahead to avoid any inconvenience. Being turned away - especially after being told "See you then" by your staff - is unacceptable, as was the dismissive attitude I received upon arrival. read more

We have been periodic customers of this Walgreens for sometime. This year, we've had some negative experiences. In recent months, they have not been able to fill time sensitive family prescriptions more than once. They haven't told us what other area Walgreens can timely fill the prescriptions. Once, that led me to call three different Walgreens and none of them had the medication. I then called a nearby CVS, and they had the medication. It's not a great customer experience to call a bunch of Walgreens. This seems like a solvable computer system issue. My wife recently requested that other time sensitive prescriptions be sent to this Walgreens. The provider said that they would immediately send the prescription. When I reached the front of the Walgreens line about 25 minutes after we left the provider, I was told that they hadn't received the prescriptions. I was prepared for this answer, because I've heard this particular Walgreens say this on multiple prior occasions. I normally don't press, but I explained the time sensitivity on this occasion and the fact that the provider indicated they were sending the prescription immediately. Walgreens said they couldn't do anything because they didn't have the prescription. Since they were clearly not going to call the provider, I called the provider from the pharmacy area. The provider confirmed, as I believed, that they had submitted the prescriptions through the system and suggested the pharmacy was making a mistake on their end. The person who originally helped me said she could still not find the prescription. I stated they needed to do something more under the circumstances. A second person then started communicating with me. She said they couldn't fill a prescription that they didn't have, and she told me to "Have a nice day", but she did so in a tone to make clear that she meant something else. At this point, I had decided that we would move the prescriptions to the CVS I had previously used. But our provider's office asked for an opportunity to talk with the Walgreen's pharmacist since their system showed that Walgreens should have the prescriptions. The provider called back in a few minutes. She was able to talk to a different pharmacist at that Walgreens, who confirmed that the prescriptions were in the system and the person who helped me hadn't looked in the right place. I certainly understand mistakes like that can happen. What I don't understand, is why employees would choose to disbelieve a customer who is telling them that such a mistake is being made and then rudely and vocally decide to do nothing about it. When I returned to Walgreens, a pharmacist I hadn't spoken to was apologetic and helpful. The original employee I spoke with also apologized. I didn't see the employee who told me to "HAVE A NICE DAY!" That was probably for the best. Two Stars based upon these recent experiences. read more

Think twice before you use this Walgreen's for a flu shot. Although I made a 'group appointment' well in advance, they still waited 'til day of to verify insurance, and lo and behold, were unable to do so. My son finally got his flu shot at 10:48 (for a 10:00 appointment), while I was turned away. Once home, I booked a new appointment at a different pharmacy chain and was in and out within THREE minutes. read more

Now I know why their reviews are low. Not friendly at all! I usually go to CVS but they were out of the pills I need to take. Walgreens had it and that's why I had my prescription sent to Walgreens. Never shop at any Walgreens. Aside from the over-inflated prices rivaling convenience stores, if you purchase an item exceeding $20 they require ID in order to get your money back even if you have a receipt. If you do not present one, they will only issue you a store credit trapping your money. read more

They closed the pharmacy in Cedar Ave, Newington. They sent all the customers to the 2920 Berlin Tpke., Newington. Apparently, there is not enough staff and the lines to pick up the prescriptions are extremely long. The service is too slow. read more

I literally redownloaded my Yelp app just to write this review... what is happening in this establishment? I waited in line for 45 minutes when there were three cars in the drive-through people kept walking by and ignoring the cars in the drive-through. If you need to hire more people to work, do that! Stop wasting customers time. I don't think it was the fault of the pharmacist but clearly they need more help. This was a complete joke. Get a grip Walgreens. read more

The service is terrible. The manager at the pharmacy is very rude. I took all my husband and mine prescription and I went to a different pharmacy. I have been going to walgreen for so many years and when they change the manager everything is so delayed. You called and they said it will be ready but when we get there nothing is ready. The supervisor name Cara don't really care if I moved my business somewhere else because she stated they are busy and she doesnt really care. Bad service. read more

Friendly staff and good place to pick up last minute items. The pharmacy, however is inconsistent. I called to fill a prescription for my partner that included low dose aspirin. I was told aspirin is not a prescription. I said can you get a bottle from over the counter and add it to my order to pick up at the window (this was in April, at the height of the pandemic). She said no, we don't have any. Turned out they gave me some aspirin in a prescription bottle after all. During same time period i called the pharmacy to see if they carried walkers and bathtub seats. Was told no, you have to go to the store in W. Hartford. I ended up ordering online. Recently went in the store and they have an enitre aisle devoted to these items. Another time I went to pick up some nitroglicerin on an emergency basis. Was told they didn't have any. This is a life saving medication and unbelievable that any pharmacy would not have any. During the pandemic also. Sent me to the Berlin store. Yesterday called to transfer prescriptions from Hartford Hospital to Walgreens. Was told the hospital has to do it. I called the hospital and they said Walgreens has to request it. It's just one thing after another with this pharmacy. Advice is, if you think it doesn't make sense ask to talk to someone else. You'll get a totally different answer. When I transferred my rx in person, I was told they would be ready the next afternoon and received an email confirmation that it was ready. When I got there another day after that, it was not ready. The next time, I called in 2 rx. When I arrived, only one was ready. When I asked about the other, it was obvious that they must not have listened to the whole message. Rude pharmacy staff. Had to pick up 2 pain medications for friend who had had major surgery and was just released from hospital. Young female pharmacy tech literally tossed one of the written prescriptions toward me while stating -loudly -" We don't have this here" then she walked away. Long story short - very rude staff. My prescriptions we're transferred there automatically when my regular pharmacy closed. The girl that works the counter seems to be very unhappy when a customer interrupts her employment experience with, well anything. The first time I went it was for something my doctor called in. It was well over 100.00. I was going to leave it and then she said, "I could use a coupon that would make it 35.00. Do you want me I use it?" No, says absolutely no one. She literally looked like this caused her physical pain. She told me to wait a half hour. I waited 45 minutes, basically watching her the entire time terrorizing an elderly couple that only needed their pneumonia shots, only to find she hadn't actually informed anyone I was waiting...in the chair....right in front of her....Anyway I went back today, actually praying she wasn't there, but she was. Lucky me! I told her I needed to order some refills and pick up something I had ordered the last time. Every prescription I ordered she claimed I had to call the doctor for refills. If they transferred there why do I need to do this? Because, according to her, I went over a year without them. First of all, NO. Secondly doesn't the pharmacy make that call? No, it's on me. Then she says my prescription that they've been texting me is ready needs prior approval from my insurance. So WHY didn't someone call and say that before I drove over here? Good service from the store workers. The pharmacy is shit though. The pharmacist is the only person who can do anything and rather talk on the phone for an hour and answer drive thur customers before patient customers in line. WHEN YOU SAY 15 MINUTES, IT SHOULDN'T TAKE AN HOUR!!!! read more
