We had a reservation and were running late, when I called the restaurant, they were extremely understanding and sat us right when we got there. Our waiter (Don) knew his stuff concerning the food and wine. I would specifically ask for him when we go back in the future. Went on Tuesday night for an anniversary dinner, was seated at the worst table in the restaurant, directly on a wall, next to the bathroom, waitors bumping our menus and elbows every time walking by, and to top it off, within 2 feet of a table of 6 loud and crude sales goons. Skipped the appetizers so we could get this fiasco over with, we both got fish, halibut and swordfish, not great, not terrible, not worth $30 bucks each. Luckily didn't get a parking ticket after parking in a resident only spot, because that would have topped off an overall dissapointing experience with what we heard was an excellent restaruant. If I could get a booth minus the loud tbale next to us I would probably give it a second chance. read more

My husband took me to Prezza for the 1st time last night. He'd been there earlier this summer for a business dinner. Even though the North End was CRAZY-BUSY with St. Anthony's Feast tourist, we got a great seat near the window within 15 minutes. Our service was a little slow, but we chalked that up to the fact that the restaurant was full to capacity. Our food was wonderfully prepared and arrived in a timely manner. We had after-dinner plans, and we managed to be in-and-out in 1 hour. We'll DEFINATELY go there again. read more

If I could I'd leave 3 1/2 stars because of how pricey this place is, but it is good food. I like their menu because they have some different items from the typical chicken parm/veal marsala that you find in most of the other north end restaurants (actually, I overheard a waiter tell a neighboring table that they don't do "italian-american" cuisine, when the woman asked about chicken parm). The zucchini flower app is really good, I love this dish anyways and Prezza does a great job with it, very delicate and the tomato sauce is a nice touch. read more

Have not been to Prezza in a few years, and was happy to see their entire presentation was as good as ever. Great prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella appetizer. I looooooved my meatball entree, which was (essentially) an delicious meatballs, sausage, and ribs in a very tasty tomato sauce over polenta. It was fantastic. My dining partner had the lobster fra diavlo, which is a favorite dish of mine as well, and prepared perfectly with the right amount of kick from the bite I had. To top it off, the drinks, specifically the roman mule, were delicious, so kudos to the bartender to boot! read more

For me, this was a great meal. Our server (Jessica) was the nicest person I've met in Boston. She answered my questions quickly and she was able to sub pasta with my meal. I got the meatballs, sausage, and ribs over pasta with chunky tomato like sauce. We also ordered soft shell crab as an appetizer. From start to finish this meal was great. Went for dinner. Great service. Host and server were very attentive. Started with the crispy shrimp. Excellent appetizer perfectly cooked and just the right amount of sauce. Nice wine selection as well. Ordered Osso Bucco for entree. That was the wrong choice. Probably the worst I have ever eaten. It seemed that the shank had been previously cooked, stored in a fridge and then microwaved. It was tough, dry and not very appealing. The vegetables and sauce placed over the veal was very well prepared. Good taste and nicely seasoned. I would try the restaurant again but would likely stick to seafood. We eat here often, most recently the wild mushroom risotto and roasted halibut with rock shrimp but have had many dishes here all of which have been excellent. You will have to read all of the reviews to understand that this restaurant has great food and great potential for being the standout restaurant in the North End, but they are definitely lacking in the hospitality aspect, given so many other Italian restaurant options. I will reiterate some other comments here---you don't mind paying more for food, if the whole experience leaves you completely satisfied. Unfortunately, we felt the same way as some other reviews, which we read after we got home(not before). We too, felt that we were being rushed out, as soon as we sat down. Drinks were delivered quickly, and the server seemed anxious for us to put our order in right away, so we did. Appetizers came out even faster than the drinks, and then the entrees followed as soon as our app plates were taken away--no offer for another drink, no check-in from the server, until we were almost done and he wanted to pull the plates away. We didn't feel comfortable to stay to order desserts, so opted for Mike's or Modern, leaving the restaurant basically in a little over an hour from start to finish. We typically like to dine closer to 2 hours and enjoy friends and the experience. when we go into the North End, and then maybe move to the bar for after dinner drinks--not here. The food is excellent, albeit much smaller portions than you will get somewhere else in this area, especially for the money. You may want to wait until they can get their act together to make a complete excellent experience by complimenting their excellent food with friendlier accommodating staff in a "no-rush" atmosphere. The rare five as I was pleased with all aspects before during and after the meal. It was easier to get here than I thought and parking wasn't a problem even on a busy Friday. Started with the clam chowder which was on the finer side of chowders available in the area and even on the coast. The meatballs were pricey but also had a strong flavor that provide a unique culinary experience outside of the city. The pound cake styled desert was clearly fresh which beats many other places that are serving off a truck. Bass was what's for dinner. I am not a huge fan of striped bass usually but this was both tender and full of flavor while being more white like a cod than usual. It looks like they may have a fish buyer that actually distinguishes quality. Wine selection met expectations for a place of this pedigree. Prices are on the higher side but so is everything in Boston right now. Service was attentive and precise. This made for a nice evening out and I would definitely go back on the next vacation. read more

Prezza is now one of my go-to restaurants in the North End. Located on a side street off of Hanover Street the restaurant is much larger than the outside would have you believe. The decor forgoes the more traditional Italian style type restaurants in favor of a sleek, modern look. Service is attentive, efficient and very professional with a very pleasant wait staff. I ordered an appetizer and an entrée and both dishes were served quickly but not so much so that I felt I was being rushed. For the appetizer I ordered the tagliatelle with spicy octopus. In a word, delicious. The sauce had just the right amount of heat and spice and the octopus was cooked to perfection. It's also available as an entrée size portion and I very well may get that the next time! For the entrée I got the scallops with cauliflower, lobster mushrooms and a leek and potato purée. This was equally as delicious as the octopus appetizer. The scallops were sweet and moist and seared perfectly. The additional components of the dish added nice texture and complimented the scallops perfectly. I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied and looking forward to returning to sample other options, always a good thing. Definitely recommended. read more

So every year my wife and I try a new restaurant to try on our anniversary. This year we decided to try Prezza and we were VERY surprised at how amazing it was. Our waiter's name was Efrain and he was absolutely one of the best waiters we have ever had. He explained thoroughly which foods would go well with the amarone wine that we got. Efrain lets us sub in pasta in place for other foods and was great. Food was amazing. My wife got the Bolognese with a mushroom sauce and I got the home made pasta. Appetizers were the meatballs and we got the cheese/salami plate. All food was perfect. Efrain would visit the table to shake our amarone wine bottle to make sure it opened up perfectly. Some of the best meatballs I've ever had in the north end and I've had them at every restaurant on the main strip. We also got there before our reservation and they were still able to take us. We arrive at 5:15 and it was pretty empty...however by the time we left around 6:30 every table was packed and there was a waiting line. Very top notch. Try to get Efrain as a waiter and you will be happy you did. read more

Table for 12 please and we are off. Seated at the front window on Fleet we get to look out onto the busy side street as we gather for our first Prezza dinner with family and friends just before Christmas. We are a raucous group of hungry and thirsty revelers this merry season of 2015. The appetizers ranged from crispy shrimp (very large and crispy with the head on as they should be cooked), meatball so perfect, tuna tartar, various pastas and a salad here and there. Quickly served by the fine waitstaff and a Twoney Sauvignon Blanc along with Hourglass 2012 Cabernet. Both great selections as we moved forward with grilled veal chop cooked perfectly medium rare, the overly large and moist fried pork chop, seafood stew, mushroom risotto and swordfish. It was hearty Italian food, perfectly prepared and executed. Desserts were a variety of offerings that topped the night off to an extreme. Chef Caturano was on hand and greeted us a couple of times to see how we were doing. Can't wait for his new venture in Gloucester to open to be named as Tonno! The chef is an avid angler who is super accomplished in Giant Tuna catchin'. Be back soon chef. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Boston, Prezza never disappoints. The food is delicious and creative (rarely any red sauce in sight). Reservations are a must but dining at the bar is an option as well. The bartenders are attentive and friendly, and on most nights, you'll see 80% of the people sitting at the bar eating dinner. We bump into many regulars here. The portions are generous (as are the wine pours), especially for a top tier restaurant. The strip steak could easily be shared amongst two diners. They offer appetizer portions of their pasta entrees which is more than enough to fill me up - especially given how fantastic their appetizers are. The mushroom flat bread and lobster arancini are must-trys if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Was really looking forward to eating here as it had been recommended by a few friends. Had already read the menu and was sold on the veal chop ($46) what a tasteless disappointment. Nice cut of meat, cooked well but lacking any flavor. I used my wife's leftover sauce from her ravioli to flavor it up. Over all service was good, wife had pumpkin ravioli which was decent. Overpriced, overrated and unimpressed. Had dinner her on May 6, reservations for 7pm. We arrived at 7 and were promptly seated. Our waiter was an older guy, had the personality of a card board box. We had Prosciutto di Parma for app which is supposed to come with Gorganzola but somehow we got Mozzarella, you would think this is something the waiter would mention but no. Also, the figs on the app were tasteless. My wife ordered the Crispy Pork Chop and I had the Orecchiette. The Orecchiette was mostly, and I mean mostly pasta, by far. Very little rabbit or pancetta. They charge $32 for the Orecchiette but $12 would be too much for this. I guess I was just not impressed at all. Horribly overpriced and poor service. read more

I had been to Prezza four times previously in the past five years, usually for a business dinner, and based on those past experiences, would have rated the restaurant ~4 stars. On a Saturday night a month ago, I had 8:30 PM reservations for two and was seated immediately. So far great. The restaurant was not at max capacity - there was an empty table of four immediately adjacent to us. The server came over a few minutes later, and simply said, "cocktails?" My date wasn't feeling 100% so just ordered a Sprite and I ordered a Dogfish 60 minute. The drinks came within a reasonable time. He placed them down and left without saying anything else. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. We were seated for over 30 minutes before the server came back to take our order. In the interim, we watched him walk directly past us many times and serve and chat extensively with the party of four seated two tables over from us. This table was obviously in a festive mood and I understand giving them attention, but to blatantly ignore another table for that long is inexcusable. When he finally came to take our order, there was no apology for the delay. He actually asked if we needed more time when my date sort of quizzically looked at him, as we really thought he had completely forgotten about us. And then he said he'd be here till midnight, which may have been with sarcasm. My date made a comment about the wait, and still no apology. I had originally intended to order an appetizer, but felt like the timing was completely ruined now, so we just put our entrees in. It's great not to feel rushed when you're eating, but this felt like wanton neglect. I was close to just dropping some cash on the table and leaving. The food, a gnocchi bolognese and boneless chicken breast, was decent and was delivered in a very respectable time, as were the sorbet dessert and bill. I did order a second beer that took much longer than it should have, and the waiter mentioned having to "brew it himself." Overall, the food, in isolation, was what I remembered. A very good 3 to 4 star experience. I understand sometimes things happen and mistakes get made. A simple apology for neglecting us, especially when we made it obvious it upset us, would have gone a very long way. I'm not sure how I feel about Prezza after this experience. I used to recommend it to my coworkers visiting from other cities who wanted a great night out in the North End. I'll have to give this previously unchallenged recommendation a second thought now. read more

Outstanding food, prompt and courteous service. Fresh pea ravioli was flavorful and perfect texture. Greens with bleu cheese and thinly sliced sweet onions were very tasty, but a little too goopy as if the lettuce had sat already mixed with dressing in the kitchen for a half hour--our one complaint. Gnocchi bolognese were outstanding--light, slightly al dente, complex slightly smoky sauce. Rack of lamb in wine sauce with broccoli rabe was perfect--succulent meat (I've never had occasion to use that word before), slightly crispy broccoli, sweet beefy wine sauce, perfectly roasted potatoes. Except the goopiness of the salad, all of the food was perfectly prepared, rich but not too heavy. The maitre'd greeted us and said goodbye by name--very classy! read more

I'm not normally a huge chicken fan, but this is cooked to perfection with a nice crispy skin. For apps, the meatballs are a clear winner. In the north end there are many many choices for dinner, but if you are looking for a special place to bring a date, impress a client, or spend time with your I laws, Prezza is a clear winner. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. I am half Italian and was raised by an Italian grandmother so I know good Italian food and this place is not it. My friend took me to this place This past Friday night and it was packed so I was hoping for a good meal. We both were craving pasta so we both got the bolognese. Which is supposed to be a thick meat inspired red sauce. The price was 34.00 a plate. Yes my Italian grandmother would must be rolling over in her grace, that I paid this much for a bowl of pasta. This was the worst tasting pasta I have ever had in my life. The pasta was homemade but the sauce was extremely runny and was simply not a bolognese sauce. The meat was scarce and watery and the pasta had so much Rosemary in it that it was all we could taste. ( perhaps they put the Rosemary in the pasta by mistake instead of the lamb? Lol )We were both so hungry that we still managed to eat our meals but felt ripped off and were bored stiff with our pricey pasta dishes. We were both so hungry that we both ordered dessert and again both desserts were also not good. Bottom line is this place is simply an over priced stinker with terrible tasting food. Teatro in the theater district and Stella in the South end both do a superb Bolognese for 20 bucks, go there , he'll go anywhere but not to this place! read more

If I could take only food quality and service into consideration I would absolutely give Prezza 5 stars. I just thought it was a bit too expensive for what we received. That said, this was the first time in a very long time that my husband and I sat down to a meal with not a thing we could complain about. Very fortunate in fact because Sunday before Labor Day the North End was wall to wall people and it wasn't just Giacomo's that had a line going down the street. I found a table here on open table that could accommodate our hungry party immediately so it was kind of like eat here or we're going to end up at Bertucci's. But we did luck out. Everything we ate was perfectly cooked. Amazing bread came fresh and warm served with good quality olives in oil. We primarily ordered off the Sunday menu which included a generous portion of fried calamari which our table of 4 adults was reluctant to finish for fear of spoiling our appetite for the main course. A plate of excellent salumi disappeared quickly and the slice of zucchini frittata that accompanied it was fought over by me and my daughter. Our entrees included the cavatappi with San Mariano and basil which exploded with fresh tomato flavor. Two in our party had the veal saltimbocca that melted in the mouth, with a rich delicious sauce that helped make use of the plentiful bread on the table. My biggest compliment was for the rigatoni cacio e pepe. This is a simple dish that can be easy to screw up but they blew it away and I told the waiter that theirs is better than the cacio e Pepe I've eaten in Rome. I won't be able to dine here as often as I'd like to but I will be back. I should also mention that the restaurant is very beautifully decorated and staff are wonderful and attentive. It's probably worth every penny, just not in my personal budget for a regular place to dine. read more

Went here a week and a half ago on a Sunday evening. No wait. The wine was very good, the food was good, and the service was spotty but friendly. I had the lamb chops for $28 - I wish the presentation was more inventive than just 2 sides and meat on 3 parts of the plate. I suppose they are going for a rustic feel, but I want more sophistication for the price. The sauce it was in was flavorful, although the meat itself was not memorable, and was cooked medium instead of medium rare as I asked. The cold red peppers side was weird, but it went well with the potato medallions. The peach-stuffed zepoli (spelling?), fried balls with donut-like consistency, was excellent. The peach creamy dipping sauce made it amazing. It was suprising that we didn't get comped for the dessert given that the meat was overcooked, and I pointed it out and the waiter agreed. On the other hand, they did offer to re-cook the dish, so that's why they probably thought it was alright to not comp anything. Decor was nice, with a really cool wood block painting in the back on the right wall. read more

Satisfyingly savory food that fills you up and makes you happy. You must go to Prezza over and over to enjoy the various menu options. Start with the butternut squash arancini with lobster and sage and you won't be disappointed. The squash is mashed with the sage and a brown butter sauce and topped with delicate and delicious pieces of lobster. I also recommend the mushroom risotto with fontina, pancetta, and parm. The risotto was perfectly cooked and I loved the taste of the mushrooms. For entrees try the chestnut raviolini with pulled duck and parmesan -- you will be pleasantly surprised at how rich the dish is. The duck is perfectly cooked, not oily at all and very tasty. I also recommend the gnocchi bolognese because the ragu is so damn meaty and good. Another perfect entree option is the venison loin with a sweet potato mash, braised greens (nice and salty the way I like em), and a red wine bacon sauce. The meat is perfectly cooked (read: not chewy, fatty, oily, too gamey) and the sauce adds a layer of salty bacon // red wine sweetness that brought the whole dish together. You need to take a piece of the venison, some of the greens and sweet potato mash with a bit of the sauce and enjoy the fireworks in your mouth. I only drink wine at Prezza, but have been told countless times that they have a great martini selection. By the glass, by the half bottle, by the bottle -- you have choices with wine and hey I'm all about choice. So depending on your budget you can get a nice glass of white or red starting at $6 or a half bottle starting around $20 or a full bottle for more. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. They let you enjoy your food and ummm oh yeah enjoy your company. It is pricey, but worth it in my opinion. read more

Very upscale restaurant.. We went here for our New Years Eve dinner and it was perfect. The place was packed so it was a bit loud but the food was worth it. I ordered the crispy pork chop and it was HUGE. Prezza didn't skimp on the portion sizes. The wine menu was pretty extensive and our waiter wasn't shy about giving his recommendations and helping us pick something right for us. They have a full bar and a nice micro brew selection as well so it's not too hoity-toity if you know what I mean.
