I ordered carrot cake. This one slice was $8.50. They have no silverware. For the price, silverware would be a plus. The cake was okay, it's not on my immediate return list. The man was very nice. The experience of going was good because of service and variety, There's no inside space, it's a walk up window which is a good idea

I picked up the red velvet, sweet potato, wedding cake tres leches, and bread pudding, all for a total of $34. The cakes are delicious. Every time I visit this spot, there's always a line of cars waiting to order sweet treats. While the hours are a bit unusual, I was lucky enough to catch them open. Note, the facility is not nut-free, so those with allergies should be cautious. However, none of the cakes I purchased contained nuts. You can't go inside to order; you'll need to place your order at the window. The facility looks clean from the outside, and the window clerk was very friendly. I'll definitely be coming back. Bread pudding was my favorite Update: the sweet potato cake taste similar to carrot cake. Cakes are alil crumbly

A slice of Tiramisu from Premier Cakes

My friend took me to this place to get a piece of cake for my 66th birthday. Much to my pleasure and surprise they had tiramisu. The young lady said it was frozen, but I bought it for later anyway. I have had tiramisu from at least 5 locations in Raleigh and the piece I got here is by far and hands down the best I have ever eaten. While you could taste the individual ingredients they came together in a symphony of great taste in my mouth. I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven. The price threw me off, but know that it was well worth every penny. They have a customer for life!!

I was slightly disappointed with the cake's appearance. The cake up charge for flowers wasn't what I was expecting based upon the picture from their website. I told the gentleman who took my order over the phone that I want it just like I see it on the website. Those flowers are big and floral. What I actually got was no better than what I could have gotten at Food Lion or Walmart. Icing is so thin that you actually see crum. Not what I was expecting at all

Yellow cake with chocolate icing. I wonder why this one costs more than the sweet potato. Sweet potato had more flavor.

First time here today. The sweet potato cake was delicious. There were hard white pieces in it though (like plastic - it was hard and inedible). Not sure what it was. Both slices of cake we got were cold/moist. I would come back to try other flavors.

The cakes are hit or miss. Not consistent. It felt more like a church bake sale. Over priced and some cakes were too dry.....

The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, and the staff was pleasant from the moment we walked in. Even during breakfast hours, there wasn't a long wait. The shop itself is beautiful. There's an antique cash register near the counter that adds so much character, and I love that the menus are handwritten. Their merchandise is really cute, and they also make gourmet marshmallows. Everything in the case looks and tastes gourmet and made from scratch. They even offer wedding cakes. My total for breakfast for myself and coworker came to $18, which I found very reasonable. The iced Americano was strong in the best way. You can actually taste the espresso, and it didn't taste watered down or cheap at all. The only downside is that they don't serve whipped cream for iced coffee. The almond croissant was perfect. Sweet and buttery on the inside, crunchy on the outside with that lightly crisp, sugary layer that gives i texture. It was balanced and done just right. Overall, a solid breakfast spot with quality pastries and great pricing. I'd definitely stop in again.

Although the space is tiny, the desserts and cocktails more than make up for the line out front, and the noisy nature of downtown locations! There were 4 of us and we enjoyed the strawberry pretzel pie, derby pie, ice cream, coffee, and old fashioned. First of all, AMAZING cocktails- and an epic list of whiskeys, bourbons, and scotches. They've also got some custom beverages that you cannot find else. Super thumbs up for originality of cocktails, creative menu presentation, and speed of service! The derby pie was good- but I like mine with a denser filling. My friend enjoyed her strawberry pretzel pie, and the fact that not many places offer this on their menu. But, she said it was not as good as homemade. The gents in our party RAVED about how great Bittersweet's old fashioned drinks were! They said that these were definitely in the top three beverages they had ever had! This hole in the wall had a bridal party, some goth appearing folks, and suits too. In short, no matter what you like to drink, what you enjoy eating for dessert, you will find it here!

Many were the days that I lamented the lack of a proper dessertery when I worked in downtown…read moreRaleigh. So I filled my needs at Square Rabbit or went without. Little did I know Cupcake Stop Shop had quietly opened, tucked away in an indoor area of multi-vendors in Moore Square. I noticed they were listed as a vendor at the upcoming Yelper party, and finding myself in the area for First Friday, I eagerly pounced on a preview. It's a tiny and unassuming shop -- in many ways it feels like it's still growing into its decor and intended atmosphere. But the cheery tower cupcake display on the right and the filled cases at the cashier counter both pulled me in. I ended up with a half-dozen flavors (spurred on by the huge variety, as well as a Yelp deal!) and a couple of cake truffles (think: mini cake balls). The owner is incredibly nice and personable, and I have to credit her with having both the creativity and dedication to churn out so many different varieties... a definite strength of this shop. But I feel I'm becoming a bit of a cupcake snob -- as you may gather from my lengthy, growing list of cupcake reviews -- and there were a few things that fell short for me with these... size-wise, they are more petite than most, but I think that the reasonable price reflects this. The main fault with the cupcakes is in the sweetness. I know some will call me crazy: It's a cupcake -- of course it's sweet! But I think mastering the cupcake (and flavors like Chocolate Covered Strawberry) is all about mastering the balance of the flavors of the cake, the filling, the icing, and the chocolate drizzle. Instead of getting a harmonious blend of tangy strawberry, creamy whipped topping, sweet yet summery cake, chocolate bitters, I just felt like I got a lot of sugar. And this was true of most of the flavors. Of the bunch, my favorite was definitely the Snickerdoodle (in which the cinnamon really offset the cake nicely), followed by the Banana Puddin (a close taste resemblance of the traditional). I did think the cake truffles were winners -- fudgy, rich chocolate on the inside, and a light white chocolate candy coating on the outside... but they are quite small. Turn 'em in to fuller-sized cake balls, and they'd be irresistible to this sweet tooth!
