I stopped by The Cupcake Shoppe Thursday morning for breakfast while I was in town for a business trip. I ordered the almond croissant with butter and an iced Americano. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, and the staff was pleasant from the moment we walked in. Even during breakfast hours, there wasn't a long wait. The shop itself is beautiful. There's an antique cash register near the counter that adds so much character, and I love that the menus are handwritten. Their merchandise is really cute, and they also make gourmet marshmallows. Everything in the case looks and tastes gourmet and made from scratch. They even offer wedding cakes. My total for breakfast for myself and coworker came to $18, which I found very reasonable. The iced Americano was strong in the best way. You can actually taste the espresso, and it didn't taste watered down or cheap at all. The only downside is that they don't serve whipped cream for iced coffee. The almond croissant was perfect. Sweet and buttery on the inside, crunchy on the outside with that lightly crisp, sugary layer that gives i texture. It was balanced and done just right. Overall, a solid breakfast spot with quality pastries and great pricing. I'd definitely stop in again. read more

Stopped by after yoga for a quick treat and this place is so cute. Immediately a cool relief from the heat, super clean and pink! I ordered the ice chai, brown sugar pop tart and iced oatmeal. I was told the chai latte was already pretty sweet but get the extra pump or two of syrup. The brown sugar pop tart filling was nostalgic in away but the flaky dough made it so much better. Stumbled into this cute little shop. Was curious. There's so many cupcake shops in this town.... they usually aren't very good. I was intrigued with the cute white high tea looking tables. Every thing was very chic, clean, adorable. The cupcakes looked VERY moist just by looking at them. That was already a good sign. I decided to try a carrot cake and black forrest flavor. Carrot cake was VERY moist. Not too sweet, accompanied by a decadent balanced frosting. I personally loved the cream cheese frosting on the What's Up Doc, and the subtle fruit jam in the Pretty in Pink was a big hit at my son's birthday party. My correspondence with them to design the cakes both times (almost 2 years apart) was quick and easy, as they had super helpful input regarding cake size, features, and overall details. I stopped by and ordered a 12-ounce chai latte with oat milk. It was really good with a smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet taste. I appreciate that they don't use the pre-boxed Tazo chai, but instead make their own special powder blend. That little detail made a big difference in the taste. I ordered 3 dozen minis for a Valentine's day event I was hosting. We ended up having more people RSVP than expected so the day before pick up I called and they were so accommodating and able to add an additional 3 dozen to my order in the short notice! Prior to the event I tested 6 cupcakes to see which I wanted and it was a really tough choice. I ended up picking chocolate raspberry, chocolate with cream cheese frosting, lemon zinger, pink champagne, and red velvet. The event was such a hit, I was actually disappointed there weren't any leftover cupcakes for me to take home! The minis were an absolutely perfect ratio for our wine tasting and gave everyone enough stomach space to try multiple flavors. Thank you all for creating such beautiful cupcakes! read more

It's a good thing I don't live at the hotel where I was staying across from this place because I might become a nonstop diner. Thanks to my alleged poor ability to make a decision, I made it out of there with "some to share". That gave me a chance to taste four delicious items. Summary: just go grab something you'll not be disappointed! Plenty of choices for you "picky dessert people", and of course coffee selections to pair. But if you want to get granular... The brownie was rich and of course chocolatey. Props for the effort as it's sometimes hard to pull off a brownie when your specialty is cupcakes. This is big enough to use as "firsts" and "seconds" (or just don't tell anybody and eat it all). Next was the cinnamon cupcake. The cake itself was light to balance the sweet but not overbearing (huge amount) of frosting. The sea salt caramel was also generous on the frosting, and had a nice mix of spice + salt. Today's winner was the oatmeal cookie, with tasty glaze leaving me wanting more. However I know there are plenty of the oat-averse wandering around Yelp, so just remember I didn't try about 15 other things today. They all looked good. Mad at myself for not taking a picture of my picture perfect cupcake! Got the flavor of the week which was a Spiced Chai. Frosting wasn't overpowering and had the perfect amount of cinnamon sprinkled in. Cupcake portion was moist and almost as if I had just gotten it fresh baked (it was end of day when I tried it). Today is my sisters birthday so we decided to celebrate with some cupcakes. First impressions, The Cupcake Shoppe is small, cute, and clean. There are a few tables available for those who choose to dine in, but overall not too much space. The shop was pretty busy and stayed busy the entire time we were there. I wouldn't recommend a large group dine in here. I am GF/DF so I was happy to see they two GF/vegan cupcakes available (chocolate and strawberry) and I chose the strawberry flavor. The frosting was a bit too sweet for me, but the cake itself didn't have much flavor so it paired well together. Overall it was a good cupcake. There were only 2 GF/Vegan cupcake options available when my group came in around 2, and by the time we left there were none left. It doesn't seem like they restock these once they're gone, so if you are hoping to get one I'd recommend coming early. None of the non-GF flavors ran out though so no worries there. I am not sure how many GF/V cakes they start their day with, but I would come back to try their other flavors! read more

I'm a big fan of the cupcake shop! I can't believe I haven't reviewed them yet. I've headed in multiple times pre covid for cupcakes. I really haven't met one I didn't like, but I will say the lemon cupcake is probably my favorite of their options! I also thoroughly enjoy their simple chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream, simple and delicious. Recently my friend ordered a box of treats to be delivered for my birthday. They packaged everything beautifully and I appreciated the note they included. My toddler couldn't get enough of their lavender scone and I got to stuff my face with more lemon cupcakes. The strawberry cinnamon roll was also a great treat! I haven't tried their brownies yet, but those are next on my list since they look awesome. It's also the perfect spot to grab an iced coffee for an afternoon pick me up when grabbing some treats! They have specialty lemonades as well which are on my list for next time. I had them make a graduation cake for my graduation from NC State and it turned out even better than I imagined. Customer service was excellent and they helped me come up with a unique design and brought it to life in such a creative way. It made my day even more special. I choose the Pretty in Pink flavor which is strawberry cake and buttercream and the flavors were rich and the perfect amount of sweetness. It was not overly sweet and the cake was moist. It is rare to find a cake that tastes as good as it looks. I have tried many cake places over the years but I finally found a place that hits every mark: excellent customer service, great taste, and artistic ability. They also offered curbside pickup which was very helpful and made it very easy to pick up my cake. They made sure to provide directions on how to transport the cake safely as well as how long to set it out before serving. They have exceeded my expectations and I am so thankful for their hard work. This was an extra, totally unnecessary stop one afternoon for my friends and I. IT ENDED UP BEING SO NECESSARY, YOU HAVE TO TRY IT!! These are the cutest, yummiest little cupcakes and other treats. We went valentines weekend and could see all the hard work these individuals were putting in to wrap orders for pick up! I ended up with a red velvet cupcake and a big giant rice crispy treat. I love The Cupcake Shoppe. I will always choose them for cakes and cupcakes. I actually used them for my son's send birthday cake and they did and amazing job so when I needed cupcakes for an event that I was hosting I knew that they could get the job done. I called the day before my event and the lady that answered the phone was so nice. I told her what I needed and she informed me that the cupcakes will be ready the following day which was great. When I first arrived to the Cupcake Shoppe was grateful to find a space right up front. But on busier days and later in the afternoon I can see parking being a hassle. When I walked in I was greeted by the store clerk. She was really sweet. I told her what I was there for and my order was ready. I ended up getting an assortment of cupcakes and it came up to about $36 dollars for a dozen and they worth it. The Cupcake Shoppe is well kepted and really cute I feel it's perfect for a date night or just a stop by with your friends. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a quality cupcake. Two of my cupcakes were as dry as an Arizona summer. They tasted like they've been sitting in a car on a 90 degree day with all the windows up and *poof* all the moisture just evaporated and made them dusty-dry-cakes. They're still on the table and they're headed straight to the bin. But one of my cupcakes was *literally* the most deliciously moist and amazing chocolate cake that I have EVER eaten. Ever! It was so good I even ate the crumbs from the plate. That little morsel was a foodgasm of epic proportions! So I gave 4 stars because if they can make such a perfect chocolate cupcake then the other two dry-as-a-boners must've been a fluke.
