Apple pies
Hadja T.

This is by far the best pie place I have been to in Raleigh. I always get the apple pie.

Nicole L.

The season strawberry rhubarb pie was amazing, the crust is so buttery and flakey and the filling was delicious! The owner/manager was very helpful and responded immediately when we had an issue picking up our pie. We will definitely be back for more!

TLDR: Phenomenal pie and customer service. Expensive, but high quality. Variety of flavors to choose from. I loved the chocolate pecan. Excellent place for a slice of pie. On my drive home I was stressed and hungry. I heard lovely things about Slice Pie Company and decided to stop by. I parked right out front and walked in. Immediately I was greeted by an employee who walked over and identified the pie flavors available in the fridge. He clearly listed them all and patiently answered my questions. I chose chocolate pecan, key lime pie, chocolate chess, and lemon raspberry. The slices are pricy, but high quality. They are ideal for a gift or occasional treat. We liked all of the flavors. I particularly enjoyed the chocolate pecan. It was well balanced and decadent. Overall, we had a positive experience here and recommend this place to others!

Coconut cream pie (slice)

This small shop in Raleigh serves up some AMAZING pies!! My family and I have ordered from Slice Pie Company several times in the last 2 years, and we have never been disappointed :) If you want to get your pick of flavors, your best bet is to preorder online though you'll only be able to order a whole pie (as opposed to halves or slices). In the shop itself, they also have pies out for sale, and what we normally do is preorder a whole pie and then buy a slice or two in person when we pick up our order. I've tried a good number of their flavors at this point -- they're all great but my favorites have to be the coconut cream pie, chocolate pecan pie, and apple pie! The coconut cream pie is honestly perfect in every way: decadent and light at the same time, sweet but not too sweet, smooth filling paired with a buttery crust, I could go on and on... These pies definitely aren't cheap but they are worth the money!

4 Pie Sampler

Fairly quaint and quiet store off Saunders in S Raleigh. They had some lovely decor and the staff was welcoming and asked if I had any questions. The pies are in a fridge and there were a variety of flavors to choose from. Being my first time, I purchased a sampler pack. Overall the pies were lovely, but seem pricey. The crusts were a consistent buttery flakiness, that even cold carried a great mouthfeel. The cream was overly applied, but easy to take off. Now for the individual pies: 1) Coconut had a filling that was too "cakey." Flavor was good. 2) Chocolate pie; was a bit too fudgy for my preference. I wish there was more filling, the ratio was low. This is one of my favorite pies, so I am especially biased. 3) Key Lime, tasted wonderful. I would say they used real juice since it didn't have that bitter aftertaste of bottled products. 4) Sweet Potato, a good pie, Cassandra would probably still complain about the lack of seasonings I would still come again on special occasions to order a full sized pie. The sampler pack consists of mini pies and I'm confident the full sized pies, having a better filling ratio, would amount to a better experience.

Cherry birthday pie
Ravi G.

My fiancée found this establishment after I requested a cherry pie for my birthday. I love cherries and love pie so it made sense. First time I requested something unorthodox like a pie though but I knew an excellent cherry pie would hit the spot. This pie did not disappoint. At first glance, I was very impressed and it was HEAVY. Thick, buttery crust loaded with filling. It was delicious cold but orgasmic warmed up.

I love pie, so when visiting my friend in Raleigh, I convinced her to go downtown-ish to try this place! The owner was so nice, and the pie was delicious! Can't wait to go back on my next visit!

Lisa's birthday shopping trip.

Great pies and very personable owner that truly cares about people she makes pies for. Pies were great.

Chocolate chess pie
Saloni T.

I walk past this place all the time but never got to try it. Mainly because I don't enjoy pies. Finally gave in and thought I should give it a try. I picked chocolate chess and let me tell you, it was DIVINE. We (my husband and I) thought we won't be able to finish the full so we bought a half. But that half was not enough!!! Perfect pie crust, moist and so much flavor in every bite. Coming back soon! We also got great help. The lady was kind enough to come out to the car and help us with what we need with social distancing :)

Personalized Key Lime Pie
Holly K.

Ordered a key lime pie here for my husband's birthday and it did not disappoint! He loves key lime and after trying some of Kristen's other flavors at a Yelp event I knew her key lime would be just as delicious. Ordering was easy and I did it all through email. I really like how they will cut out pie crust letters to "write" Happy Birthday on the pie. I think its such a cute touch and looks awesome! Picking up the pie was easy, but their home kitchen is out there a ways. Next time I'd just fork over the $5 for delivery. You pull up to the house and then just wait for someone to come out. The key lime was delicious and everyone raved about how tasty and authentic it was. No fake lime green here! Would definitely order from Kristen again and will continue picking up those half pies at the Butcher's Market when the craving for pie strikes.

The service is great and relatively quick, and everyone I've met there is kind and willing to help. The inside is a bit small, so smaller crowds are better and it does tend to get crowded later in the evening and on weekends. The outside street sitting area is nice too and hopefully will be fully fixed soon. Overall a great places to stop for drinks and desserts after a nice meal! I finally got the opportunity to try it recently and I brought my boyfriend and his brother along with me. When we arrived, The person working there was nowhere to be found and we stood there confused for a while. When he finally came out to the counter he seemed to have his mind completely elsewhere with headphones on his head, and he even told us to "ring the bell" when we were ready to order, and turned around and left into the back room. Finally, after making up our minds and placing our order, As he was preparing our cinnamon rolls he was grabbing them from the glass enclosure thing and literally throwing them into the to-go containers, the impact they made upon landing made an audible thud. The service we received made the experience Cinnaholic disappointing, but once we ate the cinnamon rolls that we bought they were very tasty. The "old skool" flavor was our favorite one as cinnamon rolls are very sweet so any added toppings just push it over the edge. I did feel like the rolls were lacking that ooey gooey cinnamony center, and I wished the frosting was a bit more evenly dispersed over the roll as large dry spots were exposed. But overall they were yummy!

First, since they are located in a congested area, finding on street parking is a bit of a challenge. Also, be aware that they have a "cash" policy during lunch hours which isn't indicated on their website. I was unaware of this policy until we saw the sign on the front door upon our arrival. When you first walk into their establishment, they have prominently displayed a sign to be sure to tip their staff. A bit unprofessional in my opinion! In addition, they have a large tip jar on the counter where you place your order, I guess in case you missed their other tipping sign! We placed an order for 3 burgers with fries and 3 iced teas which came to almost $62. The food was fine but nothing exceptional for the price! Due to the lettuce and other produce issues currently going on, I requested no lettuce or tomato but instead to add pickles. When the burger arrived to the table it literally had 1 small pickle chip sitting in the center of the burger! Is there a pickle shortage I am not aware of? My two family members had also asked to have the lettuce and tomato removed yet one of their burgers still came with both of those ingredients on the burger! On a positive note, the music they played was enjoyable and the photos displayed on the wall were a nice touch. Finally, one of the employees came to our table to ask us to leave so they could mop the floor! I was unaware they closed at 2:00, which was my error in not paying attention to the lunch hours on the website. However, I think they could have been more professional in letting us know their lunch hours were ending! We arrived shortly after 1:00 p.m. and mentioned to the guy taking our order that it was our first time there. It would have been a great customer service courtesy if he had mentioned they would be closing at 2:00 so we had the heads up to pay attention to the time, or we could have decided to go elsewhere so we weren't on a time limit. I don't plan to return for the above mentioned reasons and won't personally recommend them to my family or friends. However, if you choose to go, I hope your experience is more positive and that my review will help to eliminate the negative experiences I had during my one and only visit to Hayes Barton Cafe' & Dessertery!

Lunch is pretty straightforward: you pay up front with cash and you find a seat and then they serve you your food. Service is not especially snappy, and the food is pretty standard lunch fare.
