My friend took me to this place to get a piece of cake for my 66th birthday. Much to my pleasure and surprise they had tiramisu. The young lady said it was frozen, but I bought it for later anyway. I have had tiramisu from at least 5 locations in Raleigh and the piece I got here is by far and hands down the best I have ever eaten. This was my 1st visit. The young lady who was working was very nice. I am also a baker, and I understand that not every cake, every time, turns out perfectly. I paid $6.40 for a medium sized (but pretty large) slice of pineapple coconut cake. The cake tasted good, very good. However, I felt the layer itself was a little dry. The icing was too sweet for my liking, something similar to a buttercream, but seemed more sugary. Not enough coconut for my personal taste. The pineapple part was delicious though! First of all, these are (to me) expensive! Premier Cakes charges by weight, and most slices (standard size) start at $5.50. Now, I will pay for delicious sweets, but only if they wow me. These did not. The Blueberry Lemon was the best (we paid almost $8 for this slice though), but the sweet potato pie seemed dry...and when everyone is raving about how moist the cakes are, it makes me think I got a fluke.
