My Pool pump was not running and called Preferred Pool Service to schedule service. I spoke with Evan And Appointment was scheduled for a Tuesday morning between 9am to 1pm. On Tuesday morning anround 9 :15 am, Anthony (Pool Technician) texted me on saying he would arrive in a few minutes. I always appreciate the communications and prompt arrival. Anthony quickly troubleshot the issue with his diagnosis of a faulty pool pump and a faulty circuit breaker. Anthony explained that the new electrical code required a GFCI breaker needed to be replaced. Within the next two days, Anthony replaced the faulty circuit breaker and installed a new multispeed high efficiency pool pump within a few hour. The new pool pump is so quiet and easy to program. We started having problems with our pool heater and then suddenly the old pump went out. I contacted Evan at Preferred Pool & Spa Repair and he put us on the schedule immediately. Anthony called on his way over and showed up on time. He was extremely knowledgeable. He knew exactly what was wrong and just as we suspected, the pump needed to be replaced. The heater could not be tested until the new pump was installed. Anthony returned a few days later and installation of the new pump was fast. He could finally check out the heater, which was the start of all these problems. But, luckily, when he did, he found that the problem was that the pump wasn't getting water to it. Turns out there's nothing wrong with the heater after all! Seriously, I was expecting the worst. What a relief. I would definitely call Preferred Pool and Spa Repair again next time we need help. I had a great experience with this company from start to finish (they replaced my pool pump, GFCI breaker, and also a light switch). When I texted Evan, he replied very quickly. I texted over some pictures and a short video of my leak and within minutes Evan called me to talk about what I wanted. I had several questions about which replacement pump to get, and he was able to answer them all immediately, or if not, he went away and found out fast. I was also looking at another company to do the same work, but Evan's estimate was good and, more importantly, his customer service was much better (he was very knowledgeable, replied accurately and quickly, and was very nice too). Our pool pump was tripping. Scheduled a service with them to take a look. Just when someone came in to take a look, it started working again. So we decided to let it run and not try to fix anything when it was running. He pulls up a bill for $150. I was like why. He says "this is for showing up here". I understand you had to drive here and there is fuel cost. But also asking $150 to show up doesn't sound reasonable. Also I assume you try to lump together services in the same city for being efficient. He calls up Evan and explains the whole situation on speaker. I am like "can I say something". Just wanted to say "It will most likely break again and will give you guys a call back to do the full service with you". But Evan doesn't let me talk at all. And calls me "not nice". They talked amongst themselves and I had to hear this on speaker. Let the other person also speak before you make judgements or call names. Not the customer service I expected. read more

Their knowledge in the area of in floor cleaning system is poor. One of Evan's staff came out and took a look at my pool and appeared to show no knowledge instead he called Evan. They both didn't know what they were doing. The "pool tech" fully opened up the pool return valve that when the pool pump went on, water leaked underneath the base of my caretaker 99 system. They were thinking that opening up the valves of the pool return will correct the situation of my in floor system and not to use it again. But instead water leaked everywhere due to pressure. The water had no where to direct itself. Why didn't he make sure everything was working correctly? Instead I went out to my pool area, and technically configured everything the way it was prior to the pool tech coming by. Now, everything is working the way it was before he came by. They created a new problem than fixing the problem. Also Evan the owner was rude and disrespectful to me. They took my check of $225 and quickly cashed it and I was left with a problem, losing pool water! Unbelievable! I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS especially when repairs are EXPENSIVE. But no repairs were done instead it created a new problem that I had to fix by myself for FREE! read more

I contacted them and told them my heater wasn't working. I told them it might be due to gas jets being blocked by spider webs. This had happened before a few years earlier and the guy cleaned it out and the heater worked fine. They came out and took a look and told me I had some electrical and gas issues. They said they couldn't put their finger on it exactly but my two options were to rewire the whole thing (~$1,500) or get a new heater (~$4,500). I told them I'd think about it. I didn't feel like their diagnosis was correct. I felt like they were trying to sell me something. I decided to try cleaning the gas jets myself to see if that was the issue. Took me 10 minutes and the heater fired right up and has been running like a champ. read more

This guy was assigned to a work order by my home warranty and refused to service a system that has been serviced 6 times by different providers without problems. Wanted to bolt as quick as possible and collect the service fee, lied about calling and leaving a voicemail and was rude to my wife who had to run out with my month old som to stop him from running away. If you want to work with someone reliable do not call this person. tl;dr - He lied about calling me to explain his diagnosis/plan - He said he can't fit in the space after I got a hold of him. My pool guy and the 2 before got in there easily. - He said he didn't collect the service fee on insurance. Received an estimate to update my pool equipment. My primary pool motor was single speed. Both the pool sweep and pool filter motors were on mechanical timers. Evan quoted a fair price to automate my system and provide energy efficiency. I can now control my water feature, temperature, pool pump speed, pool pump time, pool sweep time, and lights with an app on my smartphone. He scheduled the install about 10 days following the quote. We had our old pool pump replaced by Preferred Pool Repair. The whole experience was super fast and remarkably easy on us. We had looked at doing it ourselves so we knew the cost of the equipment. We paid what it would've cost us and were very grateful we hadn't tried to do it ourselves. We had no trouble getting an appointment that worked for our schedule. They were in and out in one morning with the whole system programmed (which took the longest). Evan was really good explaining how to use the new program and getting us up and running. Avoid them at all cost! Installed a whole new system (filter pump, booster pump, jet pump for spa, heater and Aqualink automation) in November 2023. Filter pump broke in February 2024 because the seal on the pump's circuit board wasn't secured and water got into it. Fortunately, it was still under warranty - according to the warranty contractor, the gas pipe for the heater was undersized and the way the electrical wiring was done was not preferred. In May 2024, a water leak occurred due to a bad plumbing connection (the PVC elbow was put onto a straight PVC union that's connected to a straight pipe; so when the connection is cut open, 3 layers of stacked pipe material was found at the connection). Long story short, we ended up having to hire the warranty contractor to rework all the electrical and plumbing. Highly unprofessional, worst experience ever! read more

I wanted to write another review for Evan at Preferred Pool. I was prepping for the rainy season and wanted to connect a hose to our pool equipment in case we need to drain some water. When I went to hook it up I realized after the installation of the new filter they did in August, that the spigot was gone. I reached out to Evan about it, and he replied very quickly and had not realized when replacing our filter that the spigot was removed. We were talking about a lot of other things that day- he helped me figure out an alternate way to run our system with less pressure in case the popup system has issues- so I'm not surprised the spigot got overlooked. I certainly did not notice at the time. Anyway, Evan immediately offered to rectify the situation, and within a few days we had a new spigot back in place.
