I recently purchased a bunch of merchandise from this store and online. First of all, I understand a 30 day return policy but I also understand GOOD customer service and not lying to customers to avoid upsetting them. They returned some of my items to my credit card but when I got home from a trip, gift cards were in my mail for the other purchases. Why would you return some and not all? This was AFTER I brought back over $200 worth of merchandise I realized I was not charged for and I thought I should do the right thing and give it back to them. I tried to resolve this with Pottery Barn customer service and their first response was "I'm sorry I can't help you, you'll have to go back to the store". After a 45 minute call trying to get this sorted I get a "supervisor" on the line and she said sorry there is nothing I can do. We are not going to help you." She would not put me through to management to get further help so I had to hang up. This is POTTERY BARN, not the 99 cent store! I am appalled and frustrated. They should have just told me the truth at the store, and I SHOULD have kept the merchandise I brought back because I discovered I had not paid for it. I have been googling Pottery Barn since this call and am shocked at how poor their reviews are and now I get why. Really poor customer service, dishonest stores, no loyalty to the customer. Skip this store and go online. Up until the order is placed and you're not committed they're great. After your committed and they know you can't cancel is when the battle begins. My order was delayed twice from what was originally provided on the invoice from time of service. It's an estimate, yes I get it, but it's still a reference to which I can use to schedule out 1) how to get rid of my old furniture 2) when I can receive my new furniture. My complaint went up to the store manager, Tiffany, and she was rude, impatient, patronizing and unhelpful. She refused to accept responsibility for any information that was provided to me from her store or from corporate stating that they don't receive copies of email notification that are sent to the customer. That's fine, but don't come up with excuses on how you can't help me if I don't remember my designer's name. She processed the order -- look it up! I hope the reason why she thinks it's acceptable to treat customers this way when she's managing a retail location isn't because someone in corporate empowers her or they simply don't care how their SM's treat their customers. You should seriously consider doing a management training refresh with her and the District/Regional Manager and have her reevaluated. This location has 2.5 stars for a reason. read more

Very bad customer service. I bought a dining set and for some reason, they had the dining table and the bench delivered to my house and the chairs shipped to the store. She said I need to pick up the chairs from the store. I kept asking Lucia why can't they ship the chairs to my house as well, but she said that's not possible. Hmmm, really? She didn't give me clear reason. It's been more than a month since I made the purchase, but I am still without the chairs. I got the table and the bench delivered to my house last week. So I called the store a few times to check up on the order staus and they said they can't do the status check on the chairs. I don't believe it. Today I called again, lady named Heather got my name down and said she will call me back before the store closes, but she didn't call me. Sigh... Really horrible unprofessional customer service. Pottery Barn has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I went into the store and three people were at the register. I asked where the throw pillows were. These individuals were busy at the computer and kept their back turned to me and told me where to go find the merchandise. No one came to help me, nor gave me any type of personal attention. It was very disturbing, especially considering how pricy their merchandise is. Their on line services are equally poor, and I truly believe that their customer service is below par to Walmart. My wife and I visited the Brea store trying to resolve an issue with one of the chair that we bought, but we felt extremely disrespected and discriminated. We came across a problem with the chair when we noticed a deep crack on the backrest hidden underneath the paint and coating when the coating started to come off. We inspected the chair when they first arrived and thought it was the natural wood pattern, never thought it would be a defect. We were told at the store that they couldn't get us a replacement and informed us this crack was caused by wear and tear, not factory fault. I understand the time of our purchase was over their 9-month replacement policy, but the worst part of today's visit to the store was the attitude of the entire staff, including the manager Tiffany, except one staff named Phillip. We were asked to bring the chair to the store, so we drove to the store twice to show the staff the chair. When I carried the chair into the store and standing behind an associate at the counter, no one gave me eye contact and ignored my existence completely. There was one staff talking to a customer and even the customer looked at me twice. There was another staff standing behind the counter and I received no eye contact at all. I stood there like I was invisible to them. Then when we were talking to Phillip, Tiffany spoke to Phillip about what they should do as if we were invisible and gave us a negative attitude when she was talking to us. During the entire visit, I felt we spent top dollar making purchase and yet, feeling like fools. I can see the staff was having wonderful conversation with the other non-Asian customers, but we received rather negative attitude when we made eye contact with other staff or talking to the manager. My mom and I came into this location to return a duvet cover and sham that were both unopened. When the cashier processed the return, she told us we would be getting $267 back although my mom's credit card was charged $324 when she made the purchase online. On the website, it says that orders over $99 will receive free shipping. So, the first problem was the fact that we didn't even get free shipping with a $324 order. My mom noticed this and called customer service the next day to get a shipping refund, which she was able to get. With the shipping refund, our total came out to $297. So, when the cashier told us that we were only going to get $267 back, we were confused where the other $30 went. This cashier (her name is Binita) tried her best to call customer service and fix this issue because she understood that we were getting less money back than we should. Unfortunately, she had an appointment with another customer so she had to go. Then, the manager, Tiffany, took over the phone call to customer service and practically did nothing. She did not even try to explain the issue to customer service and hung up the phone to tell us that we were only gonna get $267 back. At this point, I was getting a little frustrated because the previous cashier already acknowledged that something was wrong but the manager kept telling us that we won't be getting any more money back. Then, we decided to just go home and figure this out on our own but the manager had went ahead and completed the return so that we would only get $267 back. She said we could call customer service to fix the issue if we wanted. Long story short we called customer service right there and got the issue solved, but Tiffany's behavior towards customers and side remarks were completely unprofessional and rude. She did not do anything to help us and refused to even try to understand what we were saying in regards to not getting a full refund. I will definitely be calling customer service to report this because it was an extremely rude experience and it seems like others have also had an issue with this manager in the past. With that said, I'm so glad that Binita took time to understand what we were saying and tried to help us, whereas the manager was just trying to finish our return as soon as possible without being helpful at all. read more

My husband and I had a bad experience with the interior design department. There was no follow through. We had someone come into our home and apparently we weren't willing to spend enough money so we were pretty much dropped from all contact. We were willing to spend 3-4K. We've had good experience before when we were at our apartment and had the online interior design services only. We thought that having a designer come in to our new home would be a better experience but like I said no follow through from their part. We were told that they would get back to us with their interior design recommendations and we never heard back despite trying to reach out. It was a waste of time. So we decided to take our business elsewhere. Macy's has great quality furniture and for a better and more affordable price. read more

Hello, I recently ordered a lamp online with pottery barn and it was quite an ordeal. For the last month or so I've been trying to place the order but some weird error message would come up every time I tried to place it. I eventually called pottery barn and told them my concerns and they said I had to contact the bank associated with my pottery barn card so I did that. When I called the bank they told me that my card was reported lost or stolen which never happened and I never reported. They said a new card was sent out to me through the mail a month or so before but I never received it. So I had to look up my most recent statement to find my new card number and the associate agreed to send me another card. Then I had to call pottery barn back and place my order. The associate I worked with was very difficult and I had to spell everything out multiple times. At this point I had spent more than an hour trying to get this lamp ordered. She eventually was able to place my order and she said I would receive an order confirmation in my email. I waited 48 hours to receive this email and it never came so I called pottery barn AGAIN. I spoke to a nice associate that told me there was no order placed. At this point I was so frustrated and thought the associate would offer me something for the trouble I had to go through. But no, I went ahead and placed the order with her and eventually received a confirmation email. I received the lamp around 10/22/18 and went to put it together and it was missing the screws and hardware to stabilize it. One thing after the other...at this point I took a break and decided I would work on it the next day. Well, the next day another same lamp arrived at my house. I went and checked my pottery barn account and I was charged twice (~$225 each) for these lamps. Wow, I thought pottery barn was a large corporation that it would have way better customer service than what I had experienced. Of note, I rencelty moved in to my own place this summer and spent around $3000 on pottery barn furniture and things for my new place. I am a good customer and thought I would be for life but the experiences I have recently gone through make me never want to shop there again (which is a bummer because I love your stuff). I wanted to let you know so that changes can be made. This is unacceptable especially since your brand is not cheap and it's supposed to be high quality items. I hope you take what I say into consideration and make some changes. read more

They kept telling us it was a temporary location but it seems as if they are staying there It is so small and too bright, zero ambiance, much smaller selection and the merchandise is not displayed attractively. Okay so we had a MASSIVE. Wedding over 1400 guests and we registered at pottery barn needless to say our registry was beyond have as such we have many duplicates like a pile of duplicates! And so we called ahead and let them know that we would be bringing in those items we wished to exchange and the general manager Christy took two hours to help us piece by piece I mean she totally could have just sent it all back to the catalogue but she spent sooo much time taking care of us of course we exchanged everything and spent more than we returned like allot more but if had everything to do with Christy love this place! read more

There us something wrong when you can't deliver as promised. I ordered an item on1/15 with a promise date of 1/22 to 1/24. The deliver date has been pushed out 3 times since then and more than a month later still no delivery. This is ridiculous. They need to fix their supply chain or manufacturer. I could have gotten the item within a week from Amazon. Unless Pottery Barn fixes the issue I will not give any future business to any Pottery Barn store. read more

I didn't bother learning her name, but she is an older Asian woman who is clearly there against her will. I've seen her be rude and unprofessional to many customers. The store is just not very friendly or helpful. I don't know if it's the management there or what. Perhaps morale is really low? I mean on occasion I've had a new person or the person who works the floor say "Hi, welcome to Pottery Barn." But it's rare. I don't dress up when I go. Why should I? I'm there to shop and not impress. Years ago I had one bad experience with a decorator calling me the last minute to cancel. It wasn't because she cancelled that I was upset but because she was so not friendly about scheduling an appointment to begin with that bothered me. So canceling it was just "the straw". So I was upset and decided to go to Costa Mesa. The people there are so much nicer and a lot more helpful. Seems like morale there is a lot better. I've had some nice conversations with the workers at the Costa Mesa store. (At Brea, NEVER.) CM has gone out of their way to order things for me from other stores and look for things. The store is way busier than Brea and I am not sure I am confident enough to say that even the designer that I worked with would put forth the effort to work as hard as the Costa Mesa folks have. Okay, this is not about Costa Mesa, it's about Brea. So I used one of the decorators there once before and I thought the experience there was fine. I had called again most recently to ask for something and she said that she was too busy and that she couldn't do it now. It wasn't the words, it was the tone that she used in saying that. I wasn't asking that it be done now. I feel like I'm a pretty forgiving person given that she had forgotten about our appointment and I was fine with it. I told her to come anyway and I'd wait. So I didn't understand the tone towards a customer that had spent quite a bit of time with her. She said she'd call me and it's been days. She did that the last time, too, and I just looked past it and called her. Back to Costa Mesa I go. I'm not even going to say anything. It's not worth it. I like the products at PB so I would never ban the brand or say I wouldn't buy anything at this particular location. I just won't use the decorators' services despite it being closer to me. I just hope that Costa Mesa comes out my way! read more

I like the items I've purchased from pottery barn but am disappointed that stores are becoming a thing of the past. I HATE purchasing larger items like furniture and rugs without seeing them first. What a pain to return if the color is different than the website or the details are different than pictured. So why oh why is pottery barn making their stores smaller and smaller or closing them altogether? Money if course. They can make more without paying the cost to maintain a brick and mortar location. I get it - however if they close this location, they will be losing my business. I have had good sales experiences however I would recommend more staffing as the wait can be a little bit when their are several people being assisted. I encourage those who want to keep the stores open to either go into the stores to place your order or call the stores directly and have them place the order for you. read more

They took the time to explain the different models and colors by showing us the wood swatches. Though it was a trek to come to Brea, it was worth it. I came to this pottery barn today and as I walked in I passed several employees and nobody greeted us nor acknowledged us....I am Hispanic so not sure if it has anything to do but I certainly felt discriminated..I then saw a white female walk in the store and they sure greeted her and offered help....wow!! As I walked around the store not one person approached me to ask if I needed any help and I sure did but I don't think there's a need to chase employees around for help so I decided to buy my curtains online. Originally went to South Coast and they didn't have the items I wanted in stock. They were back ordered online, but the very helpful sales person called several stores until she found them. I went to the Brea store to pick them up and they charged full price for items that were on sale at South Coast and also online. They said that they could not honor the price as online the price is different due to shipping, etc. Didn't make sense. This is the first time that a store has not honored an advertised or online price. Due to the terrible customer service, I wouldn't go to this location again. My girlfriend and I have had the recent pleasures of meeting an outgoing, personable, friendly, and extremely helpful employee at the Pottery Barn in Brea Mall, and her name is Terry. Not only did Terry go above and beyond to help us out the first time we met her when she assisted us in purchasing our first brand new sofa, she also provided us with her own private number to contact her in case we had any questions while making our decision. After following up with her a few days later, she took care of everything for us with ordering, delivery date, and reassurance that she would take care of everything to make sure we were happy. On our second piece of furniture we wanted to purchase from Pottery Barn, we decided to contact Terry a second time, once again she was more than helpful by going above and beyond by getting our piece delivered to us due to its oversize and not fitting in our vehicle. This is not something she had to do, but something she wanted to do and that speaks volume to customers like us. Terry a few days ago also helped us with purchasing our brand new Bowry Media unit from Pottery Barn; this was a beautiful piece of furniture that Terry was able to help us out with as well, by getting us the best deal imaginable including delivery. Both my girlfriend and want to personally thank Terry for helping us in furnishing our new home with Pottery Barn products, and we just want Pottery Barn to know, if it was not for Terry's help, we would have taken our business else where. My husband and I registered at pottery barn for our wedding and received many gifts that we wanted to return. We called ahead and were told we could drop everything off at the loading dock instead of making 4 or 5 trips through the mall. Upon arriving at the loading dock, we couldn't find anyone from pottery barn. Finally someone from Williams Sonoma spotted us looking confused and asked if we had called the store. We said yes. She said she'll find someone to help us. Billy the stock boy showed up a few mins later and immediately said "you were supposed to call when you got here". Horrified at this greeting from Billy, we knew this was going to be a rough experience. Once we got to the desk, the girl trying to return our gifts proved to be completely incompetent. (Not understanding that we received gifts bought both in store and online nor how to do multiple returns at once...after she told us she was the assistant store manager) finally, she called someone else up to the desk to help us. I believe his name was Nick? He was awesome and saved the say. He returned everything for us as quickly as he could. After all was said and done, my husband and I have $700 in store credit to pottery barn and haven't been back because they're awful. Get better employees. Get rid of Billy and the assistant store manager and clone Nick a few times. read more
