I just have something to say concerning how food is handled and prepared. Fast food is what it is; However, no one wants to pay for tasteless food. I asked for Mayo to be on the sandwich not at the edges of-that's part of the taste there were more about the sandwich, but I also got cheese and broccoli soup- that tasted like CREAM of Broccoli. No cheese in the soup just broccoli and carrots. But you have to pay for extra for cheese when it's advertised as cheese AND!!! I like Potbelly but I won't trust this one to do nothing else for me. This review is just for the Prime Rib Steak!!! As the 1 star says "Not good". Overdone and flavorless, couldn't even taste the "caramelized onions" or the garlic aioli. Some of the meat also had bits of chewy gristle that doesn't sound like a Prime cut. I've had better meat from a Asian carryout in the hood. This update to my review is from my daughter who went with my dad to pickup food. She doesn't have a yelp or write reviews but I think her experience is an important one to share so I had her take a little time out of her busy high school schedule to put it down in words: "I'm actually very surprised that this location has a 4.2 stars. If I could give it a zero I would. My recent experience at this location was awful. Long story short i placed our order online and I arrived at Potbelly minutes before the time expected for our order to be ready. I waited several minutes assuming that they needed time to complete the order but come to find out a man doing DoorDash had taken my order and left the restaurant. It took the workers forever to start my order as they didn't tell me that the order was stolen, and were talking and giggling amongst themselves. About 15 minutes goes by, they just start working on my order again, and the man comes back and throws my order on the shelf. A worker approached me with an attitude and refused to make me a new fresh order (that she already started making) unless i paid for the full amount again and gave her a tip. I recommended that this location trains their workers to be more professional and gets a better system to ensure orders aren't accessible to everyone. This location had violated many policies as I was in there, and I definitely will not be returning." We did talk to the management about this and they refunded our meal. read more

This location is a absolute no for me! Majority of the staff have rude unhelpful attitudes! They seem to lack professionalism and customer service skills. Regional Management certainly needs to give this place a few visits and customer service training. With all the negative energy and attitude stemming from the staff the ambiance if certainly off! In regards to the food, this is the only location I have been to where the food seems stale, from the soup to the desserts, every cookie seemed tough in the check out area (yes I felt them) and the dream bar looked like a crunchy nightmare. read more

In a neighborhood attracting families (Navy Yard), Potbelly has the most kid-friendly menu out of all the other restaurants. It's a large menu just for kids and offers the most variety. Our daughter loves going here for the food. For adults, they have great sandwiches and even better salads (get the Uptown salad with the Potbelly vinaigrette dressing). They also have the best chocolate chip cookies after Doubletree's. The space itself is huge with many tables inside and a patio outside. Though I've known this was here for a little while, for some reason I never though to come here for lunch until a co-worker suggested we go here for lunch. My routine is to pick up a foot long at Subways in the morning and have half for breakfast, and the other half for lunch. It helps me moderate my consumption of tasty but unhealthy foods at Sizzling Express. I've been to other Pot Belly's before and I've always been a fan. This place was just as good as the other places I've been to with one exception. They actually had a musician there playing music. I thought it was nice, but my older colleague didn't much care for the music because he actually knew all the songs he was trying to play. HA HA HA. Anyway I got "The Wreck" which is a favorite. Looking to come here more often especially when I get tired of going to Subways all the time. Service 0/10. truly. I ordered food through their potbelly app from this location and it never showed up. No worries though because i know that isn't always in the stores direct control due to third party delivery services. The problem came when I called the store at 4:30pm for a refund and was told by the manager Pwan Mills that because they have a lot of customers coming in at the moment, they are too busy to help me process a refund and to please call back 5 hours later at 9pm. But... according to their store hours, they close at 9pm.. So how would I be able to call back at 9pm? As a customer, it's disheartening to hear that the business I am requesting service from is simply way too busy to care to help me process a refund for food I never even received. After much pleading and back and forth, i was told i would get a refund but they are unable to process directly and need to first contact their district manager, Jim (whose last name nobody knew to be able to tell me). I asked for an eta on when Jim could process my refund and the response was "i don't know he's a busy guy because he is the district manager of all d.c, locations". Then they hung up in my face. So now I am here with no food, no refund and the hope that Jim, the district manager whose last name nobody knows, will kindly refund my money. I have lived in the DC area for 6 years now, but had been to a Potbelly only one time for a special they were advertising. I tried it again early in March and am now sad that I have not been getting food here more often. Their salads are quite good, as are their sandwiches, but the ice cream sandwiches are great! I have gone twice this month already. My only two complaints are: -the staff are hard to hear when they are asking questions (loud music, masks, etc.) but the staff also don't seem too interested in the customer, just more interested in making the food. -the ice cream melted very quickly in the ice cream sandwich. I've been here for their sandwiches and I'm not very impressed. The sandwiches aren't very filling and their choices are generic. Today I came in for a salad. I got the uptown which has grilled chicken, blue cheese, craisins, apples, grapes and walnuts on top of romaine lettuce and spinach. I wasn't super hungry, but the salad was a good size, and for me today, filling. I definitely prefer their salads to their sandwiches. I am not a big fan of their cookies either. As far as ambience it really depends on the day and time you come in. I've walked in with co-workers and the restaurant is packed and the trash cans are overflowing. Today, Friday, I came in around 2:30 and there are probably three other people in the restaurant and everything is clean and in order. In a crunch, I'll be back for a salad. read more

Nah-uh. This Potbelly is nice and new and all, but it needs a little help managing to keep up with the demand this area will bring on warm summer days (and summer days with baseball games, too). We stopped in for a little snack before hitting the Yards Park/waterfront, and were majorly bummed to find out - that by 1 pm - they were out of ice cream and also some kinds of cookies. There was a Nats game starting soon, so perhaps there was a huge surge before we got there - but there was only one other customer there when we were, so I don't know how by this time they could be running low. The workers were nice, but there were a couple of tables that needed some (minimal) trash cleaned off, and no one seemed in a hurry to do it (there were 4 employees working that we saw, 2 of which were standing by the window talking). When we got to the Yards Park shortly afterwards, we heard another family in passing lamenting the fact that Potbelly couldn't make them a shake because of the lack of ice cream. Womp womp. Walked in right as they were opening at 10am. One other person was ahead of me. They had two people working. The cashier was on the phone at the time. We gave our orders to a friendly lady who made our sandwiches. I grabbed a macaroni salad and scarfed it down while I was waiting. Our sandwiches were ready in a reasonable amount of time. The guy ahead of me got his first. The lady then told the cashier that he needed to put his call on hold and ring up the order. He completely ignored her, and it wasn't because he didn't hear her. Once he was finally ready, he rang it up. It was $10 and change, the guy paid with a 20. The cashier, still on the phone, proceeded to give the customer his change in the slowest manner you could imagine. He was pulling the change out with one hand, one bill at a time, then one or two coins at a time. Pausing each time in between to count, while simultaneously continuing his conversation. The customer must have stuck his hand out about four different times to finally collect all of his change. The cashier was on a landline, so he could have very easily used his shoulder to brace the phone, continued to talk, and used two hands. Thankfully I paid with a credit card. He pointed to my sandwich without saying anything, as if to ask me what it was. I told him that I had the Italian sandwich, a drink, and a macaroni salad. He obviously tuned me out as soon as I said Italian, since he didn't even charge me for the macaroni salad. And that was just fine with me, I didn't say anything. I'm not trying to sound like I was angry or had a bad experience. The whole thing was more amusing to me than anything else. And the free macaroni salad definitely made it all worth while. I do however feel sorry for the lady who has to work with him all day. You could tell by the way she spoke to him that she was disgusted, and this was most likely something that was not happening for the first time. One star for the nice lady who made my sandwich. There is a prominently displayed shelf and not a great way to approach the counter when other customers are ordering in store. I waited in line and asked and it was ready behind the counter. What blasphemy! I was so hyped to order another sandwich from here. Stood in a long line during the lunch rush where this guy asked me what sandwich I wanted (Originial Italian on Wheat). Then I proceeded to after where the sandwich gets toasted; the lady behind the counter took a look at the oven thingy and noted that my Italian was not there so she checked off what condiments I wanted and told me to proceed to the cashier. I went to the cashier and paid for my sandwich who also noted that my sandwich was not yet ready. That should have been a sign...I went to the waterfront to eat with my co-workers and what do I find? I wanted an Original Italian on wheat with mustard, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, onions, oil and Italian seasoning. What did I get? Skinny Italian with just lettuce and tomato. It was AWFUL...I wanted a sopping wet mess of a sandwich. Instead I got a dry mess of one. I love potbelly Sandwich Shop!! Their sandwiches are delicious! However, at this location I was highly disappointed! I ordered a Italiano and a large broccoli and cheddar soup on my break. I was starving and needed to find the nearest potbelly, I could have easily went else where for a good sandwich but I am a loyal potbelly customer! Let me say the meal was rushed and sandwich was not toasted like I asked. I could not finish the whole sandwich and barely wanted to finish the first half of it. The soup was a total DISAPPOINTMENT and needs a lot of tweaking! It had a nasty after taste and was straight disgusting! I was very disappointed about my lunch and should have drove somewhere that was not close to me for a nice decent meal! I love walking to this Pot Belly at lunch. So glad this has been opened for awhile now because we were getting sick of subway. I go here for the Salad more than I do the sandwiches. My favorite is the Farmhouse with Ranch Dressing (everything) and the Uptown with the Fat Free Vinaigrette (With everything). The shakes and malts are delish as well as those Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies! I did have a TKY here one time and it was very good but I love their salads. I have had the broccoli and cheddar soup and the Chili with cheese (both delish). I love Subways Soups but Pot Belly's beats them in taste! The customer service is quick, friendly, and the staff is great. I recently ordered a Farmhouse with Ranch Dressing and the lettuce was welted and soggy. I immediately called the manager. In 15-20 minutes she had one of her employees bring me a fresh salad and placed a free bag of those yummy chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. The manager was very nice and understanding! The only thing with this location during the lunch rush the line sometimes is out the door but it does move fast. We try to come here between 11-11:30 and if not we make sure we come after the rush about 1:30-2:00. read more
